I of course used Yelp to locate a Vet for my beloved dog I adopted about a year ago... and I came across someone mentioned Pet Doctors. My first impressions, even by phone were good. Ambiance: When we walked in, it was very clean. Pictures and paintings of animals as artwork, was a nice touch. I just realized day of my appointment that they also have an adjacent groomer, also a part of the company. Nice touch. Service: The Vet was kind and personable and had a nice conversation with me about my dog. It felt like what you'd want from your actual doctor. LOL The techs were great; answered all of my questions and were extremely patient with me, as it was my first time visiting a vet and being a dog mom. They also provided me options, which I prefer. They handled my dog with care and even text us the next day to see how she was, since she received 2 shots. No complaints. This is my dogs permanent Vet. read more

I don't think I can say enough good things about Pet Doctors. I brought my 4 year old cat in for an annual checkup and to get a growth on his chin checked out. The previous vet I brought him to wanted to just chop it off no questions asked and didn't even care what it was. Dr. DeRoy suggested doing a fine needle aspirate to see what it is first in case we didn't have to put my cat through surgery. Turns out it was a mast cell tumor that needed surgery to remove. My cat is pretty ornery when it comes to going to the vet and getting blood work or anything done but the staff here did an amazing job with him. They always kept him in the room with me (to help him calm down), gave us a cat specific room to limit any other animal scents and gave him plenty of time to adjust to being there before performing any work. Being a fear free clinic really shows in how the staff treat the animals here. The day of the surgery they let me use one of the exam rooms to wait in while the surgery and recovery was going on. As soon as it was safe to do so they let my cat roam around in the room with me to ease any anxiety that he would be having from the operation. Dr. DeRoy is a great example of what a vet is supposed to be - someone who cares deeply about animals, very knowledgeable and willing to spend the time with patients. I tend to have a lot of questions about everything and try to get as much information as possible. Dr. DeRoy was always happy to spend however much time I needed to make sure I was comfortable with what was going on, whether that be 5 minutes or 20 minutes. I moved away from Minnesota a year ago but wanted to write a review of how great Pet Doctors were after a negative experience with a new veterinarian. The staff here were always kind and professional. They seemed to care about the well-being of my pets. I never felt that I was just another customer that they could try to nickel and dime to maximize their profits. Also, at least when I started going, they gave a lovely welcome bag to new clients. Not sure if that's still going on, but I appreciated the gesture. Really am missing that I can't bring my dog to them anymore. read more

While I don't agree with a deposit for an annual visit I do Appreciate their method towards dog comfortability. This was my first time encountering an despot for an annual visit and I've take my dog to vet clinics/offices in march large cities. Maybe a lot of people canceled (trying to give them the benefit of the doubt). Regarding dog comfortability, their approach is slow. Lots of sitting at eye level and treat feeding to establish trust or positive associations. Once that's establish they get down to it. Because if this approach towards my scared dog I'll be going back. read more

Pet doctors is the best. Their whole care team is amazing. We had an emergent situation with our kitty. They saw her within 30 minutes of me calling them and updating me consistently to ease my fears. Not only do they take good care of our pets but they make sure we understand what's going on and listen to our concerns! They truly care about your pets and treat them as family. I would give Pet Doctors six out of five stars if it was an option! My pup has been a patient in this clinic for one year, & when the day comes where I leave the city for the burbs, I know I will drive out of my way to bring her here. Sia has been a patient with half of the veterinarians & most of the techs & assistants. You literally can't go wrong with anyone on staff. I've never requested specific appointment times aligned with a certain staff member's availability because every single person has treated me (in all of my panic over being a first time dog mom) AND Sia Girl with patience, gentleness, & kindness. Sia legit LOVES her vet visits. She is a lazy & stubborn bulldog but the second we get into the parking lot she'll pull me through the doors to visit her friends at Pet Doctors! We're in the process of re-training Sia to sit still & not act out when she has her nails clipped. (This is a huge deal for me because she had a very negative experience with her nails in the last few months & hates the clippers.) Everyone is being so sweet & patient with Sia as she figures out that she can overcome her fear & get her nails done Take your fur baby here - you won't regret it! read more

My dog and I had a great experience with both the techs and the vet today. Dr Thorsgaard and the staff did a great job of making my dog feel comfortable with everything that they did and explaining the steps I should be taking for my princess. They weren't too pushy with options for my dog, and were able to provide a quote that detailed the cost of everything. Alaiya was an excellent tech that provided even better care. Brought my kittens in for their vaccines and initial testings and they were very friendly to us and, more importantly, good with the pets. I was unfortunately surprised by the high bill that wasn't disclosed before the services due to a simple billing mistake (it happens). After that mishap pet doctors was been VERY HELPFUL in understanding my college-student-budget lifestyle and helped me by offering an appealing discount on the next procedure, they care about their customers and it's great to experience a business that understands it's people. I can't believe I haven't reviewed pet doctors yet! My big pooch, frank and I have been going here for a couple of years now. Loved our former clinic but could never get in!! I feel like Goldilocks here because it fits juuuuust right. He's been seen by both Dr. Thorsgard and Dr. G. and both have been super patient with both my dog and me (like when I can never remember what brand of kibble we feed him, oops!). I adopted a 14 year old cat from the Coon Rapids Humane society. I was told that he had a kitty cold and that he would be better in ten days. I had him for five days before I took him in here. Five days of him not eating, using the bathroom, rarely moving. I'd leave at 7am and he's be in the same spot I left him in at 6 when I got home. I made an appointment with them for Thursday. They emailed me right away asking for more information about what was going on with my cat, then after I responded they told me everything I needed to bring. I get a call on Wednesday while at work saying that the vet wanted him in right away because he might have something life threatening. They said get him here as soon as possible and we will see him. The second I got him there they had the doctor in there checking him out. In the end he did not have something life threatening. They treated him and now he is just like a kitten. I am so thankful for them because without them I wouldn't have Mike. Best service I have ever had anywhere. Super caring staff. read more

The staff at Pet Doctors were super kind when I discovered a painful ear infection in my "grand dog's" ear. My daughter did not know what to look for in the ear and it spiraled out of control. I took her to Pet Doctors as an emergency case. The clinic was clean and modern. The front desk person (Heather) quickly got the tech (Carmen) who then quickly got the Doctor. The staff "fit" my little critter in with no hassles for me and my little family. They were kind and understanding. Sometimes people just don't know what to do for their pets. This clinic was willing to work with us and educate as well as treat our pet right away. They even called us the next day to follow up. When i brought my 2 new kittens in for their first vet check-up and shots, the staff was wonderful and caring. They made us feel important and even more important was the way they made my kittens feel. They are excellent with the animals and with in moments my kittens Harley and Bear were put at ease and became as friendly with the staff. I go to Pet Doctors because I feel they are one of the most caring and knowledgable clinics in the area and I want my cat, Yoshi, to have the best! The staff is so good with animals with a true love for their jobs. Even though they are quite a distance from where I live, I feel it's important to give my cat the best in veterinary support that I can. Dr. "G" and Carmen are the usual care givers when Yoshi needs a visit there and they are awesome. They are both very precise and clear when they give me the information from that days visit. Great neighborhood vet. I currently live in Stevens Square and this is just blocks from my house. When my 9 year-old dog was on her third day of some not-so-pleasant gastrointestinal issues, I called to see if I could get a same-day appointment.
