This place is awful they had three teeny sphnyx kittens onshredded paper no blankets they should not even been away from their mother ,they looked about four or five weeks old and they should even not be away from the breeder until they're 14 weeks old their eyes were dripping they were looking wormy and they were shaking with cold. Shutting them down for animal cruelty for having dogs the size of a toddler or may even a little bigger with others (including the sick ones they said they had) in small cages and not properly caring for their pets! The dogs look very sad including the ones I was petting very disappointed! The people working there also seem not to care about the animals too! The employees and owner are just asking for a lawsuit. To know you have a reactive "puppy" and still allow it to stick its head out of the cage no lid, jumping and lunging at customers and kids! Absolutely insane. I am 6 months pregnant and went in to pet the puppies only to walk by this clearly reactive full grown dog and get bitten in my stomach! Through my very thick sweatshirt. Imagine if that was a kid? It wouldve gotten bit right in the face! This dog bit me so bad my stomach was bleeding and I had to immediately leave to look at the damage. I 100% blame the employees and owner. Disgusting reaction and handling from the employee, her response to me getting bit in my pregnant belly was "poor puppy". As if it isn't due to their negligence and carelessness this happened! I'm getting checked out by my doctor but you bet I will be following up and taking this matter in my own hands. To not even know if this dog is up to date on his rabies shot is sending me into a panic. I've never in my life gotten bit by a dog like this and I have raised pitbull puppies from 8 weeks old!! This was not a "teething nibble" this was a full on attack due to neglect of the employees on site. This happened at 5:38pm on 04/28. I work with animals and not from the area so i decided to stop by. Was really sad to see the cages the puppies are kept in along with no interaction. This store is definitely apart of the puppy mill funding. Somehow their birds looked healthy didn't have hair missing or anything like that but the puppies enclosures are sad as well at the kittens. the kittens they had today were savannah kittens which grow to be a big breed so i'm sure they need lots of room, as does any young animals anyways. Clearly just another pet store that only cares about money and puts it over the well being of poor innocent pups that didn't ask for any of this. And of course they look somewhat happy in the videos- their puppies. they have no idea how sucky this place is gonna be. I went in looking for bird toys and came out empty handed and feeling sad for the $5,800.00 puppies they clearly are milling out!! The overpricing continued throughout the store. Smelly and cramped space with loud music. Animals do not seem happy, some are sick or dead in their enclosures. The set up for the puppies especially is horrible. I had to leave after witnessing how they're keeping them. They're kept in small clear plastic containers. They are clearly involved in the puppy mill industry. Look it up. read more

You have stepped back in time when you walk in. Pet stores that smell, dark and musty. Low ceilings, outdated fixtures. Space but not very well organized. I wouldn't return because they sell puppies in these glass bins. Lots of them. The current owner said he has cut it down to smaller numbers but asking $8-900 a pop, can't believe it would still exist. Adopt don't shop is my mantra. And certainly at these prices? They said they were from certified breeders. Well I still don't believe in what is happening here. Aside from the philosophical debate, even if they didn't sell pets here I wouldn't return. Why? It is an unpleasant atmosphere, inventory is odd like the old family store that use to exist. They do have fish and other pets and a few accessories are available for purchase. Didn't see any staff around, even on a Saturday visit. Met the owner outside as he places signs and items outdoors to attract customers. This is probably the coolest pet store that I have ever been in! Every year I go to Fort Myers, Florida and I visit the Pet Kingdom and every year it is equally as awesome as the last. They always have a big cage in the front with a spectacular animal in it. I've seen monkeys, lemurs, and this year there was an 8ft boa constrictor in it...all being for sale of course. Very expensive if you want to buy a pet but we always just go to see their new pets. The puppies are so adorable and it is fun to go to a store that sells such exotic pets (i.e. lemurs, prairie dogs, monkeys, parrots, ...). Staff working there are always so kind and extremely knowledgeable about their animals. Can't wait to go back next year! read more

Saw 2 pups on their website we were very interested. Got there and the girl who apparently controls their website said she didn't get a chance to update the site yet That the pups were sold. She also would not let you talk and ask questions. She just kept talking, I just wanted to say "STOP TALKING!" I love Pet Kingdom and was really sad to see some negative reviews! We have been boarding our large parrot there for a number of years. We have found every person from the owner on down to be warm, friendly and care very much about the birds and animals they are selling and boarding. They have been very accommodating about last minute boarding. Most important to me, the birds are clearly well cared for. read more

Went in on Sunday just to pet the puppies and see the animals, saw that you can't because of "covid". Then ended up getting some dog treats(that got my dogs sick). THEN they told me they could have a 40 gallon turtle tank delivered there for me by Thursday for $100. I call Thursday and they tell me the person I talked to about it gave me the wrong price and it's actually $200! I told them no I cannot afford that. The people there did not seem friendly, it looked like some lady was literally guarding the puppy area with her arms crossed lmao. And it was sad looking at the animals. I purchased a King Charles in 2020 that had giardia. I returned the dog because I was scared to loose another dog after my 13yr old frenchie passed. My friend just purchased a boxer a few days ago, and it has the same thing! Instead of offering to pay for the medical bills they are making HIM pay for the treatment. I went into this store for the first time today looking for some toys for my bunny. I was very disappointed to see the small containers they keep their puppies in. Puppies especially, need a lot of room to run around so I know keeping them in small containers is not good for them. The price on the pups were also insane. There wasn't one under $1,500. Poor little pups probably never get sold because of that high price and then who knows what happens to them. :( They also don't let anyone in to see the pups unless you have an intention of buying one so they most likely don't get a lot of human interaction. The amount of animals they had were cool, and I enjoyed looking around at them, but it was hard for me support the business knowing they don't care about their animals. read more

I have bought 3 dogs at Pet Kingdom and they are beautiful and well taken of! The staff has always been very polite and knowledgeable. Place is kind of a cross between a zoo and a pet store. It does smell a bit in the store and it is dark and dingy with low ceilings. The dogs are in glass cubes on the floor. They have a huge assortment of animals from dogs to snakes. As you enter there is a huge snake and a big lizard. In the back is a monkey. We were going to buy a dog and they said it was quarantined because there sick dogs in the transportation truck to the store. They said that dog wasn't sick but just out of abundance of caution they could not sell it. Kinda scary. read more

I'm a little torn with this place. Reason being that I love animals and this place is like a zoo when you walk in with all kinds of beautiful exotic and domestic animals. At least like no other pet store I've seen. So I felt like a kid admiring them, it was cool. Now the non cool parts: 1. Smell (smells like urine) 2. Nasty fish tanks (felt so bad for those beautiful fish) 3. Cramped bird cages, beautiful exotic birds, one in particular the Kookaburra! Like WTF is that even legal? Apparently... 4. Lemur! I only saw one, not sure if there's more but just WOW! WHY OH WHY? All I could picture in my head is how these beautiful animals were snatched from their homes! 5. Puppies and more puppies! There were like 15 different breeds. Heard one of the employees tell someone 'that one' (not sure which breed) is $1699!!! Like WTF! You only pay like $30-$50 at the humane society (maybe a bit more depending the area & shelter but still under $150). No wonder they have a sign outside that says "Financing available"! Read somewhere else that supposedly their puppies aren't from puppy mills! YEAH EFFING-RIGHT! I felt so bad for the puppies but at the same time it's not their fault and if a loving family is going to buy them, then so be it. The only way puppy mills are going to stop existing is if our government starts making it illegal for pet stores to sell puppies! And fine them big time if they do. It will take years but imho that's the only way. These beautiful puppies aren't at fault. So for those that are saying don't buy, adopt, I'm with you, I have a rescue myself. But these puppies need a home too, and only if our government does something about it will pet stores stop selling puppies, because the reality is that there will always be someone wanting to buy a puppy at a pet store rather than adopt. I almost gave this place 1 star...bumped it up a star because at least the animals looked well fed and there were plenty of employees that I'm hoping are caring for them as best as they can. The owner and management however, need to take action about the conditions of the fish tanks, cages, and smell. read more

All I can say is that I will never shop there or visit there again. I was looking to buy a dog and waited for 45 minutes to be helped to see a dog. Not a single person helped or even approached me. Then when one finally did, a short haired woman came over from the dog section and was super to me and my daughter. I told her that I wanted to buy a dog, but not her for +$2000 after waiting almost a hour and then being treated rudely. All I can say is, dont impulse buy and look online. I say this in the most positive way possible - Pet Kingdom is the weirdest pet store I've ever been to. Period. Ever. EVAR! Nestled between a Christian bookstore and a Burlington Coat Factory is a storefront with giant (fake) elephant tusks and jungle sounds being piped through speakers. Enter through the doors and look to your left and you'll be greeted by a monkey swinging from ropes and playing with Fischer Price toys. To the right are Honey Bears which are usually sleeping since they are nocturnal. Making a loop around the pet store is better than most visits to a zoo. Lemurs, prairie dogs, skunks, apes, and a giant tortoise are mixed in with the typical fish, cats, and dogs one is accustomed to seeing in a pet store. I did feel guilty, to a degree, having such a good time in the shop. Shouldn't these animals be free in the wild? Are they happy here? After talking to a number of the staff it is clear they LOVE these animals. While buying supplies the worker in the fish department was the most enthusiastic person I've ever met. The employee who handled the monkey handled it as if it were her own child. Pet Kingdom is less of a roadside attraction and more of a way of life for the family who owns the business. Take a look at the family photos on their website and that'll be clear. Pricing is a little higher than your average pet store but then again their fish are healthier than what's available in the average pet store. For all that's going on Pet Kingdom it is surprisingly clean. A dog made a mess in his pen and an employee was there in less than two minutes to clean it up. Employees are easily found and more than happy to answer questions. The only real question is your own comfort level with animals being sold in a store. Pet Kingdom is definitely a higher than average pet store with a staff that has a higher than average knowledge of their stock and animals. read more

We bought an adorable puppy (Chinese Shar-Pei) from this pet store about 16 years ago. We recently lost a different, beloved fur baby. So, we went there to look for a new puppy. There is a barrier that said "serious" buyers only. We waited a while for someone to get their attention and followed the older Caucasian male to where he goes into and shuts the puppy barrier. He seemed annoyed and assumed that we weren't serious or had the money to buy a puppy. We asked to see the puppies. He, then he hesitantly pointed at the puppy type board with the prices and said "which one do you want to see?" Before we looked for someone to help us, there was a Caucasian older couple in the other side of the barrier with a dog and even went and picked up other dogs from different cages. I thought we could do the same, but we weren't the "type" to buy a puppy???! I don't understand their business practices and lack of customer service. How on earth could we even decide "what puppy?" if we couldn't even see the puppies? Obviously they are doing well because the store has been there for a while. My husband and I left without looking at or buying any puppies because he was so rude. We will never pay them another cent. Word of mouth goes a long way. If they don't change their practices, they will lose business! Just like we left, so will other potential customers. Pet stores are a dime a dozen and there are great breeders everywhere! You used to be able to play with the dogs, and I can understand if it gets frustrating when people pick up dogs without supervision or assistance, but it's cruel to the dogs to have them caged up and alone for hours on end. Dogs are social creatures, and for them to see all of these people passing by day in and day out, and not being able to be pet or played with is actually so mean. So what, only prospective families get to play with only the certain dogs they maybe might want? What happens with the dogs that go unwanted for a few days at a time that just see these other dogs getting taken in and out of their cages and watching them get played with? The other way, at least every dog gets socialised appropriately. It's even a better way to get families to figure out which dog they may want to play with individually because they can get a taste of what that dogs personality and temperament is like before deciding to get to know them further. These dogs are walking around towards any person who walks anywhere near them, desperately wanting the attention. The employees have never, in my many years of going to this place, had any issue in reminding people not to pick up the dogs, and offering assistance with any of them. These dogs are going to be depressed and improperly socialised. This is SO sad, and so cruel, and borderline abusive. I just have to add I used to love this place. The cages were always pretty small for the dogs, I'll admit. And dirty, too. But they were getting the attention they needed and deserved. Now all they do is sit in a tiny box covered in their pee and poo, with dirty water, their food scattered all over the place, and hope that someone will let them get out. read more

I adopted my "purebred" Shih Tzu from here. She came with papers, so I decided to google the parents, because it would be cool to have another Shih Tzu from the same breeder. Turns out, this dogs was bred by someone on the humane society's "horrible hundred" puppy mill list. This breeder had a DEAD DOG found during her inspection, moldy food amongst other things. My dog has digestive issues and an eye problem, most likely due to irresponsible breeding practices. Do yourself a favor and find a breeder yourself. Check out where your dog is being bred. Don't just pay these guys and expect they will do the work for you. read more

They have tons of animals, which are cool to see, but it definitely is not big enough for everything they hold. There are huge bunnies in very small cages, they look like they're dying and simply have no quality of life. For now they have the puppies blocked off for "serious buyers" only (because of covid). There are several puppies in each display and while i was standing there one of them pooped then turned around and started eating it. I understand that puppies sometimes do this and i caught a workers attention to potentially stop it. The employee went to get something i guess to clean it up, but was gone for a long minute and the rest of the puppies had already eaten the entire pile of poop. This place needs a bigger space or needs to stop taking in animals they do not have the space or time to care for. It was an incredibly sad visit. read more
