We weren't in the need for anything. Just walked over since it was next to a store we were in. They have some cats that are in the adoption area. Wish I could take them all home. The store was clean, the bathroom not so spiffy, employees said good bye as we left. Some beta fish looked like they have moved on. They have a large refill kitty litter bin, a doggie cookie bin and of course all kinds of animal supplies. They have a bin of Christmas treats, toys and animal clothes for 50% off too. First off, SUPER price gouging at this location! In hillsborough county it's only $60! Here it's $100!!! You make an appointment to see your dog waiting in a cage anyway.. then what's the point of an appointment when WE have to wait. 2 1/2 hours!! Told them NOT to clean my dog's face because of medication along with their ears, and they did anyway. Same with my second dog. They are both highly allergic to whatever they do or did there, and I see another vet bill coming up because they didn't follow directions. I'm so upset and pissed!!! Got there at 11am on time, they didn't get to my dog for over an hour! Then made me late to pick them up also. Blaming it on the dog for being uncooperative. The reason why he was, was because he wasn't comfortable with the way he was being. Management needs to Fire Chris and the nasty girls being mean to the other dogs that I saw through the glass! This review is for grooming services. I recently had my Bichon-Poo groomed here. The groomer she had was Crystal and she did an amazing job. The haircut was exactly what I requested, and my pup looked great. As many dog owners in the area know, we get these foxtails in some of the grass which are basically seeds with dozens of timy hooks on them that get tangled in our pets fur. Especially on the feet. Crystal did a perfect job of getting my pups hair super short, yet soft and fluffy to the touch. We'll definitely be returning here for future grooming needs. :-) read more

I never leave reviews but I'm still so shocked at my dogs groom that she received yesterday. I have a medium size goldendoodle. She was there for almost 4 hours.. her grooming has never taken longer than 2 hours. When I came to pick her up, they would not let me see her until after I paid & tipped, which I thought was very weird as I've been to petco grooming several times and they always let me see her first. My dog has red spots all over her from the clippers, and she has been nonstop licking her private areas as they were shaved raw. :( she also was still half wet when I picked her up, and they had her sitting wet in a crate. I'm not sure what took 4 hours since she was still partly wet. The rest of the groom looks absolutely awful too... it looks like the groomer quickly went over her tangled spots without even attempting to make it evened out or anything. I'm super shocked that the groomer thought it was acceptable. The only parts that were touched with clippers are so irritated and raw. It doesn't just look bad but she has been scratching and licking since yesterday. Also this groom is priced at $85.. leaving 2 stars instead of 1, because they are refunding me after I called 3 times. read more

Crystal is the best groomer ever! I'm a first time dog owner and was stressing on where to take my long haired dachshund/ pit bull mix and had an odd experience with a different groomer at the same location. Nothing super crazy and he was always friendly with me but my dog seemed a little unsure of him so we change to Crystal and she is super understanding. Follow up on my comment from 10/1/14... I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Sue the Assistant Manager & Crystal the Grooming Salon Manager. They have worked with me to bring my dogs hair back to its normal state. Their efforts & understanding are greatly appreciated! I can honestly say I would not have come back if it wasn't for Crystal's attentiveness, carrying & gentle touch. Management seems to have eliminated some negative staff members & thankfully hired a more knowledgable & professional team. Since then, I have seen more clients in the Grooming Department. I went into this petco to pick up a doggie gate. As a cat lover I of course had to stop and look at the three cats they had in the cages. There was poop smeared all over the cage that smelled terrible and looked very old and not cleaned for several days. One cat actually had a large amount of litter and poop stuck to its bum. Petco, please clean your cats cages and the cats itself if they have feces on them. read more

I just want to pitch in how horribly all petcos sell and treat their Betta fish. They give false information, and don't treat Betta fish well at all. If you are going to sell Betta fish you need to treat them right. All of the fish look extremely unhealthy, full of color and it's just sad. I received TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE AQUATICS DEPARTMENT from store manager Meghan. I purchased 8 neon tetra before the weekend to add to my 75 gal freshwater aquarium. They were very small and Unfortunately 2 died over the course of the weekend. I went to get a refund today and was asked for a water sample. I returned with my water sample and then was told that I need the water sample AND the dead fish. For fish that I paid 2.49 for!!! I explained that only 2 of the 8 died and it was a few days ago so I didn't keep the dead fish around for days. This was the worst experience we have ever had with a groomer. We have a small Yorkie n Chihuahua mix. we have taken her to a groomer in the Cape for a long time, but we moved to Ft Myers and decided to try someplace closer, hence Petco. we dropped Lilly off n picked her up an hour or so later, Chris was the groomer. when we got home Lilly started running circles crying and acting crazy. we thought she had an allergic reaction to something they used it got so bad we were going to take her to the vet but it was so late so we gave her an oatmeal bath and gave her a Benadryl n it helped. Lilly was abused so she is nervous around anybody that's to aggressive with her. I was calming her down and she let out a yelp, so I looked her all over and found a nasty cut on the side of her neck. the only place she could of gotten that was Petco,needless to say I was pissed. we called Petco that next morning to say we found a nasty cut on the side of her neck. everyone makes mistakes but not to tell us and then get the runaround from the 12 ur old manager and accusing us of making this all up. I told her we called 3 times 1 of which was the very next day where they told me they would have a manager call me back., never happenEd...Chris u get -0 the cut could of gotten infected if I hadn't found it! read more

I picked up my very I'll dog from the dog hospital in Estero after his 2 night stay last night. One of the requirements is prescription dog food. I stopped in at this Petco in Fort Myers after going to pet supermarket in Estero because that location didn't sell it. It was 7:55 PM. I walked in and it looked kind of empty and darker than usual. I was greeted by a woman walking at a brisk pace toward me. She spoke to me in a stressed tone and said we close in like 5 minutes! I felt startled like I was doing something wrong. You'd think I had broken in after hours. I smiled and said ok...thank you...and what is your name? She gave it to me and I told her I would be happy to report how great her customer service was. I then told her I just need to get prescription food for my very ill and skinny dog that I was actually holding in my arms. She quickly said we don't sell prescription food. I said ok. She walked out with me to lock the doors to make sure no one else could get in, though it still wasn't 8PM. I told her I was in retail years ago and this isn't good customer service. She said thank you and nicely told me to enjoy my evening. It was in that voice people use when they are ignoring what you say and making sure you can't say they said something rude. I will avoid this store for the rest of my life because of this one bad experience. I am going through a difficult time with my dog's health and don't need stuff like that. Your teams are dealing with people and their pets that mean so much to them. Good selection of products; however, when I went to the check out stand to purchase my items the cashier was extremely rude to me. She rang me up for more items than I had purchased and when I politely told her that she may have put more items than I had on the check out stand currently, she turned around to glare at me and then subsequently ignored me for the rest of my experience. She didn't even face me when she wished me a great day with her back turned. Um, usually I'm all for people in customer service jobs considering I have taken many of those same jobs and have experienced customers in varying degrees of poor and polite etiquette, but this was just ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is that she is the employee of the month for this store currently. Guess customer service wasn't her strong suit? read more

Horrible, if you care about your animal do not take them to Petco for anything. My Golden retriever was dropped off at 330, I received a call at 530 saying he was ready for pick up. I arrived at Petco 10 minutes later to find the grooming salon closed up for the night. I was able to access the salon but the stylist were gone for the evening, my bill was sitting on the counter which I paid and then when back into the salon expecting someone to retrieve my animal for me. I waited in the salon for the next 15 minutes while listening to my dog cry and wimper from a dark crate which he was locked in. When I finally asked for help from the inside store I was told to just go get my dog. As I made entrance into the back of the salon to find my terrified animal I was rudely interrupted by one of the most unprofessional humans I had ever met. He scolded me for where I was and only asked if I had paid. He then told me he would get my dog and to wait on the other side of the salon. I watched him yank and drag my scared golden retriever through the back of the salon, I have seen better compassion for animals at a shelter than what I witnessed at this Petco. My happy go lucky golden retriever was not himself for the next day or two. He was timid and petrified from his experience. Do not take your animal here if you care about them. Oh and as for the shampoo and "Deshedding" treatment he received. I could do better in my front yard with a garden hose and some soap. Waste of money. read more

The staff were helpful, though not overly friendly. If shopping here, use a CREDIT CARD! I paid with cash and was given COUNTERFEIT US currency as change. When I brought it up with the manager, she knew what I was talking about before I finished my sentence. Poor customer service. They post sale prices on products then when you go to check out a higher price is charged. When I let them know there is a sign and the item is on sale they say its not on sale. Then they follow me to the item and say the sign was written by someone in the corporate office and they don't know what they are doing The item should not be on sale. After much more discussion they decided to grant me the sale price 1 time only. Next time I shop at the store they wont honor a sale price. Don't worry Petco...I'll shop at the other handful of Pet supply shops in the immediate area. read more

Brought my dog into be groomed at Petco.. Groomer said my dog barked the entire time she was in the cage. Very unlike my dog (doodle ) to bark. She is so gentle and loving. Brought her home and she was covered in deer ticks. My Mother was bitten by one and it shown to have Lyme Decease. Now she's on antibiotics. Home is infested with ticks.. We are very clean and sanitary so there is no way this came from our home or neighborhood. These our deer ticks which are not common to this area. I feel the cage was infested with ticks when she was place in there, by another dog.. Reported this to Petco and of course they denied. Would like to know if anyone else who has taken their dogs to be groomed around 12-31-16--01-07-17 had this issue too? read more

I am very very upset with the staff at this location. I came in earlier this evening with my bf and my dog. We aren't from around here but wanted to look into a few training devices for my dog while we are out of town. When we asked for help from a staff member she was very quick to give HER OPINIONS then continue on about how my PUPPPY who is a hyper breed was not trained. She continued to throw treats down on the ground for my dog and try and demonstrate training behaviors. However, I find this extremely rude because I like to know exactly what is in my puppies treats. She didn't ask if she could have them instead she just started throwing them down then going on and on about how horrible my dog is. I was extremely upset and asked her "so you think my dog is not trained because she is a work in progress and we are traveling so she is not in her normal element and she is trying to adjust. I spend hours working with her". She came back at me with "oh no your dog is not trained at all". I find this comment to be very insulting because i do work very hard with my puppies behavior. I had told her several times that I was not interested in her training but she continued to carry on and harass me about my puppies behavior. Now let me tell you. My puppy is an Australian shepherd. She gets excited very easily and she loves to show her excitement. While we were in the store she was not barking, not jumping. Just pulling on her leash and not responding very well because she had a lot going on. I am very upset with the woman working here and I will be sure to never come to this store when I am visiting next. I think her behavior was inappropriate and rude. I've never been more upset while shopping than I was today. EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE. I would give this store ZERO. Called last night to book appointment for grooming. Was told the computers were down and they were "turning away customers." All customers... even those with appointments. Apparently the computer bathes and grooms the dogs?? Called again this morning. Still no luck. Later in the day I stopped in for cat food. Before going into the store I popped my head in the grooming area. Took a chance that the computers were up.... NOPE!! Still nothing. Asked a groomer if she had a schedule of fees. She said No. Seriously?! So,.... on into the store... The Wellness 5 oz were not on the shelf. There was NO ONE on the sales floor to assist customers. I walked around the whole store TWICE. Saw the manager duck into an office. Two girls at the registers with lines backed up. I asked cahsier #1 if there was anyone on the floor and she said they only had 3 people in the store today and "it's adoption day so we are busy." DUH!! I waited until the lines went down and asked the cashier #1 if she could check the back room for 5 oz cans. #1 directed cashier #2 to go since #2 knew the stock room better. So I waited some more..... A few minutes later #1 at the register tells me #2 found some but not a whole case. She will bring out what she found. So I waited some more.... While I waited a 4th employee strolled by and the manager came out twice. You would think he would have ask me (now sitting on an empty register counter swinging my feet.) if someone had helped me yet, or if he could be of assistance, or what I was waiting for. NOPE. Didn't even acknowledge my presence. Not once did this manager offer to open another register to help cashier #1 get her lines down. He just hid out in the office. After 10 mins (no joke) I finally caught the manager, Fernando, on his 3rd pass and said "your girl went in back for some 5 oz cans for me and said she would bring up what she found. I fear she may need some help." He called her on some earpiece he said and asked "where are you?" Just then #1 pipes up and says, "Oh! we don't have any more of that cat food." Really??!! When did you find that out?? I'd been sitting there behind her the whole time and she said nothing to me know I was there and why I was waiting. The manager said nothing. Not even an apology. Just stood there. THE WORST experience I have ever had at this particular PetCo. I will not go back. Management has his head "you know where." Just moved to the area and was looking for a new pet store. Rude staff. Not enough staff. Was rudely told to wait an additional 5 minutes after waiting 15 for fish. After standing around for 20 minutes while some girl wandered around instead of helping i decided to leave. Also while watching the fish for 20 minutes I saw quite a few dead fish and others in bad condition. Won't return here. read more

If I could give 0 stars on this one, I would. We ended up walking out after we made an appointment to have our rescue dog groomed and bathed and to have her nails clipped. We were abruptly lectured by a woman named Georgia, who wouldn't even listen to the reason, that our dogs nails were much too long. After four attempts to say we knew that and that's why were there, we finally ended up walking out. We didn't need to be lectured by someone when we were trying to bring a dog in there for their help. This is also something we told her however she was more interested in berating us as bad pet owners. Notwithstanding the fact that she never even asked us a question as to why we didn't do it ourselves. The answer to that was medically related and personal, however the way she treated us was as if we were subhuman because our dogs nails were too long. Trust me, we will never be back to see Georgia or anyone else who happens to be in their grooming area. Including the suppose it super visor, who stepped in when she heard the conversation and did nothing to defend us but instead let us walk out the door. I do thank her for that. Otherwise, stay away unless of course your dog doesn't need grooming. By the way, in case you didn't know it Georgia, wears headphones so she doesn't have to hear the dogs that she's grooming. What an animal lover she is! No thank you. I will go anywhere but there with my pets. read more
