Riley ... he didn't want to feel left out!
Colleen S.

I've three K-9 members of my family. Two have come from Lee County Animal Services. A black lab we named Jack and the most recent addition we've named Dakota. Riley is from a breeder in Connecticut. After our first experience with Lee County Animal Services I made the decision to return here anytime we were looking to add to the family. This place is clean. The animals are treated well. There is a screening process to adopt and I like that fact. They may contact your vet, etc., You can adopt the same day if all requirements are met. You can cuddle with your prospective family member in areas set up just for that purpose. You may also walk your dog outside and get to know him or her outside the cage area. They have screened these pets as much as possible and can tell you if they may be good with other animals etc., As for the staff there are both paid and volunteers. On my recent visit they went out of their way to give me the history of our recent addition. This was a surrendered dog. An 8 year old white shepherd who is an absolute doll. Fitting well into her new home. There is a fee but it's helping them keep this shelter running. Please visit it just might change your mind about adoption.

They have been incredibly helpful over the 20 years I've been going there. I have adopted several dogs, and taken strays in.

My first word that explains my experience is "Wow"! The staff there is outstanding and very helpful. We couldn't be more satisfied with the whole experience. We would go there ago when we want to get another puppy. Guess what???? 2 weeks later we went back in to store and saw this little black and white French bulldog and it didn't take long and we walked out of there with another puppy. We knew they only deal with the top breeders in the US and we would get another amazing puppy. If you go in one day and don't see or find what you are looking for, don't give up. They are always getting new puppy on weekly and sometimes daily. Subscribe to their Facebook page and you will get updates on new puppy's they have with very cute pictures. We will be forever customers of Petland.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing a French Bulldog from Petland Fort Myers…read more When I bought my puppy, I trusted that a store selling such expensive dogs would stand behind the health guarantees they advertise. At around one year old, my dog developed a serious eye condition and was diagnosed by a veterinary ophthalmologist with a cataract caused by a genetic issue and associated inflammation. This is not a minor problem -- it is a painful condition that can lead to permanent blindness and requires specialized treatment and potentially surgery costing thousands of dollars. I contacted Petland expecting them to honor their health guarantee for congenital or hereditary conditions. Instead, they dismissed the diagnosis and refused to provide meaningful assistance. Despite documentation from a specialist, the store would not take responsibility and repeatedly avoided helping resolve the situation. Buying a puppy should not turn into a financial and emotional burden due to genetic disease, especially when the business promotes screened and healthy animals. I feel completely misled and unsupported after the sale. If you are considering purchasing a dog here, be aware that once you leave the store, you may be on your own if a hereditary medical problem appears. I would strongly encourage potential buyers to carefully review the guarantees and understand that they may not be honored when it matters most.

Life-Changing Dog Training--Seriously!…read more I waited a full month before writing this review because I wanted to be sure the changes we saw weren't just a fluke. Now, I can confidently say: Patrick and the Bark Busters program are nothing short of incredible. If you read nothing else--just know this: Patrick is the real deal. From the moment he stepped into our home, everything started to shift. He gave us tools, guidance, and insight that immediately began to transform our household. And here's the critical takeaway: Patrick will show you the way--but you have to do the work. There's no shortcut, no magic wand. The key is consistency. You'll be amazed at what you and your dog can accomplish with daily, intentional effort. If you're struggling--whether your dog is a puppy or a seasoned adult--pick up the phone and call Patrick. We have two Labrador Retrievers: one is 3 years old, the other just 8 months. We thought our older dog was well-behaved because he was calm... until we learned what calm really means. Meanwhile, our puppy was an adorable whirlwind--jumping, barking at the door, and definitely not ready to meet his older sibling. We knew we needed help, and fast. Enter Patrick. In just minutes, he had us "speaking dog." No gimmicks, no harsh discipline--just firm, clear leadership. Our puppy's behavior began to shift before our eyes. By the end of that first session, we were stunned. We felt more confident. The house felt calmer. The dogs were listening. Now, don't get me wrong--this isn't passive training. There's homework, every single day. In fact, every interaction becomes part of the training. But it's worth it. The results speak for themselves. And Patrick is always just a call or text away for support, clarification, or encouragement. One month in, and we have a completely different experience with our dogs. The puppy and the older dog are now peacefully coexisting--playing, lounging, and even responding calmly to the doorbell. We've established boundaries, learned to lead with confidence, and--maybe most surprisingly--realized our older dog wasn't quite the angel we thought. (Thanks, Patrick, for gently pointing that out in your follow-up visit!) Our new mission: bulletproof recall and calm, confident behavior in public. And thanks to Patrick, we're well on our way. If you're thinking about reaching out--stop thinking and just do it. Bark Busters and Patrick have given us tools that truly work, and a better relationship with our dogs. Whatever challenge you're facing, I honestly believe they can help.

Stay away from this dog training company! I contacted Bark Busters and set up an initial visit…read more This cost $300 whether or not you decide to use their service. I was scheduled with Patrick at the end of June. Due to their schedule I had to book it a month later. Well, Patrick came to my home. He is a very nice man, who thought he was the end all to training. Okay, I listened, he started out with the owner has to be the alpha dog. He actually said that dogs do not understand when we speak to them all they understand is "BARK". He claims that's how the converse with other dogs and this how we need to converse with them. I disagreed. I could believe this man and how he became a trainer. Anyone who has a dog knows they understand us. Patrick stated all I have to do was say "BARK at a normal voice and if they do not listen to say "BARK!!!" using a deep, strong, loud voice. I continued to disagree with him. Patrick stated we should part ways. I believe I should get my fee of $300 back. Especially since he would not offer their services. Patrick offered to send me some videos to help me with corrective training. I never received them. Oh by the way, Patrick stated he is the number one dog trainer in the area. He has a website don't remember the site but just put in search engine Patrick Dog Busters. I am amazed that this company is still in business and anyone would use them. Hoping they return will my deposit due to how ridiculous the initial visit, what a joke.

Lexi is the devil! They broke my dog's toe or ankle during a nail cutting. It Took forever to heal…read more I advise you to RUN. The office girls hate everyone. They prescribed my 16 year old, arthritic dog some MILD pain reliever. I had to research it before picking up to see if it was the one she has taken before and was safe. Then we had a Funeral to northernwest state. Stayed over a month. Now back, they are refusing the pain med that they prescribed!!! Not even a refill! and my dog is in pain. They gave her an exam less than three months ago!!! I asked if I could talk to the veterinarian, and they said that we would be charged $50 if we talked to him. I'm telling you find any other place to go! Any!!! Lexi is a horrible person who wants to fight. She escalates on purpose. Stay away from her! Mean. They don't care about the comfort of your dog. I swear. They are money hungry only. Now I have a 16 year old dog with no mild med to give him comfort. I paid a ton of money for our 1st exam 3 months ago and they said pick it up whenever you want to as long as you call 24-48 hours ahead of time so they can fill it. I didn't know we were "waiting too long" since this medicine is one that you use like we use Advil. Very minimal and only if necessary to give them a boost, they lied to me and said pick up when you want to anytime, sorry my aunt died. They never even cared we had a funeral, never cared a bit,
