However, the compassion I expected in such a devastating moment was missing. When I brought Tinkerbell in to be cremated, I was visibly distraught: crying, heartbroken, completely undone. The veterinarian was there but said nothing. No acknowledgment. No simple, human expression of sympathy. Not even a quiet "I'm sorry for your loss." I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, maybe he didn't know what to say or felt awkward. But when I returned to pick up her ashes and saw him again, the silence repeated itself. Still nothing. I understand that I wasn't a regular client. He didn't know me. He didn't know my cat. But as a veterinarian, I had hoped he would understand what the loss of a pet feels like and that, in those moments, a small gesture of kindness goes a long way. I wasn't expecting a dramatic display, just a bit of humanity. Brookview may be a good vet for those with ongoing relationships, but my experience left me feeling more alone at a time when I needed empathy the most. And that's why, as much as I wish I could say otherwise, I can't recommend them based on my experience.

They don't take the animal out of the room or out of your sight at all, the vet took his time getting to know her, and he talked to me quite a while. They're pretty easy about prescriptions, and everyone was super friendly. I will say, it can be hard to actually get someone on the phone - they don't seem to have enough staff in reception to answer the phones, and the call back time has been ~3 days each time I've tried. As long as you don't need something urgently, it's not too bad.

Despite repeated visits and my clear articulation of my dog's continued limping and discomfort, my concerns were consistently dismissed. On multiple occasions, I explicitly requested an x-ray and a comprehensive work-up because I knew something was seriously wrong. My requests were ignored, and I was told that a physical examination was sufficient. This blatant disregard for my knowledge of my own dog and my direct request for diagnostic testing has had severe consequences. After months of my dog enduring unnecessary pain and suffering due to your failure to properly diagnose her condition, I sought a second opinion. Within minutes of the examination at another veterinary hospital, a significant tear in my dog's CCL/ACL was identified. This is an injury that should have and could have been diagnosed during any of the times I brought my dog in and expressed my concerns. Their failure to perform even a basic work up when requested, despite my repeated insistence that something was wrong, constitutes a clear dereliction of your professional responsibility. As a direct result of their negligence and misdiagnosis, my dog has suffered needlessly for months. The condition has worsened, and I am now facing a complex and extremely expensive surgery, estimated at approximately $9000, to repair an injury that could have been addressed much sooner and potentially with less invasive methods had it been diagnosed promptly. My anger stems not only from the financial burden but, more importantly, from the fact that my dog endured prolonged pain because my concerns were not taken seriously. I have lived with Jolene since she was a puppy; I know her behavior and I knew something was fundamentally wrong. To have my instincts and direct requests for diagnostic testing disregarded is unacceptable and demonstrates a complete lack of respect for both the animal's well-being and the owner's informed perspective. I have lost all faith in the care provided by Ridgeville Animal Hospital. Their failure to properly diagnose a significant injury despite repeated opportunities and specific requests for diagnostic testing is, in my opinion, a clear case of negligence. If legal action for neglect or malpractice were a viable option, I would pursue it without hesitation. This situation is unacceptable.
