Bella Mia's was recommended to me so I thought I would check it out. First thing to note was…read morelocation. The address listed is a tad deceiving. The address is actually a complex, so you have to wander around to find the actual restaurant. (It's in section D - at the back of the complex) You'll need to drive around back to find a closer parking space. Once found, this is a quaint place that allows for intimacy and hearable conversations (except apparently, on the weekend when there's a lot more evening patronage). Lot's of open widows to allow the light in. As one would expect, it has a (modern day) Italian theme. I was seated almost immediatly and presented with a menu that I had a hard time choosing from! I ended up with the lasagna that was a pretty huge chunk of pasta with lots of homemade sauce, and plenty of cheese (although I would have liked a bit more simply because I like the stretch of cheese overload!). The combination cheese blend and seasonings was delicious too. It would have been nice it the waitress was more helpful with recommendations. I like trying new things instead of the old stand-bys, but all I got was "everything is good". It makes me think the staff really hasn't tried much. So - I went with the old stand-by, lasagna. I don't want to take anything away from the lasagna, it was good, but maybe try something else next time. The staff needs to learn flavor profiles. I also had the carrot cake. There were some raves about it, but I have to tell you...it wasn't (to me) all that. I don't know if it's made at Bella's, but it just seemed like standard, run of the mill cake to me and at a HUGE cost of $9.00!!! For that price, you shoulld be able to expct that it was scratch made. Speaking of cost... this is not a cheap date place. Expect to open the wallet. My chunck of lasagna, which includeed a ceasar salad, and a couple pieces garlic toast, was $17.00!! Combine the $9.00 for the carrot cake, and my LUNCH was $25.00!!!! My take away is, the food is good - but not amazing (as I was promised). It's a lovely, cozy place to take a date, but a pricey place for a family or two people. If you've got a few pennies saved, it's a nice change of pace - but not a regular hangout if you're on a budget.

My wife and I dined at The Meatball Cafe on a Friday around 1pm. The host greeted us with a smile…read moreand we were immediately seated. The restaurant is very dark in places, but each table has lamps which made the vibe very cozy. Our server gave recommendations, and we ended up with the cheese ravioli appetizer, which was absolutely delicious!!! 3 generously sized fried ravioli, filled with cheese and spinach, which resembled a nice spinach artichoke dip. We were also given a loaf of ciabatta bread with garlic olive oil to dip in. The bread had a nice crust and was very soft on the inside. My wife had the Scallop toscana pasta, which had 5 perfectly cooked scallops with a fresh pesto sauce with spaghetti pasta. Her pasta was delicious, with a very fresh herb tasting pesto, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I honestly enjoyed her dish more than I did mine! I had the house signature, Spaghetti and meatballs. It was a tomato sauce spaghetti with 2 almost baseball sized meatballs. The meatballs were moist and very hearty, and tasted amazing. The sauce on my spaghetti tasted very fresh. It was good and had great flavor, however I feel that it was slightly bland for my taste(to be fair I enjoy things on the saltier side). My only real dislike about the spaghetti is that the sauce seemed to be very watery, and did not cling to the pasta very well. I'd like a thicker sauce, but other than that I really enjoyed it. For dessert, I ordered a crème brûlée, which was absolutely delicious. The custard wasn't too sweet but had great flavor otherwise, and it had a thick, crunchy sugar topping. The dark spot on the topping may have been burnt just a bit, it wasn't bad, but I did not enjoy that as much as the rest. Overall very tasty. My wife ordered the Italian cheesecake, which looked absolutely stunning. A very large slice of a ricotta based cheesecake with a blackberry topping. It was smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. Only issue with the cheesecake is that we couldn't finish it! Overall I would highly recommend The Meatball Cafe, and my wife and I may be returning for dinner tonight with my buddy and his fiancé. This place will be on my list for every SPI trip!!!! (Forgot to get a pic of the ravioli)
