This was our third time boarding our dogs here and until this time we didn't have any complaints. when we picked them this time up we found FOUR visible ticks above my one of my dogs' eye. My husband noticed them instantly when he got the dogs, they were LARGE...meaning they had been there a while. How could that be overlooked for days?! You'd have to get close enough to him to put his prong collar on. I called to inform them of the ticks and they didn't deny that my dog got them from the facility and offered to discount the next visit (really they should have offered a refund for this visit since we won't be returning) and were apologetic...but the more we think about it...the more upset we get and feel like our dogs weren't thoroughly looked after. If they were, they would have noticed the multiple ticks over his eye. If the ticks have Lyme and they were there for days that could risk his life. They are on preventatives so we do what we can in our power to protect our dogs. Update 1/1/19- found over ten ticks on the floor. my step daughter stepped on a couple and they exploded blood and then upon further inspection of our other dog found 3 ticks on her as well. We have two kids in our house and I am pregnant and now we have to worry about one of them getting onto the kids.....fantastic situation! read more

My dog come back to me disgusting and dirty. She was crying. She was taken to the vet immediately and the vet confirmed that after three nights in the care of the facility she had skin infections in multiple spots on her body. Most major ones being on her face. Her teeth were perfect before and now she has brown stains from what looks like chewing on a dirty fence. The manager, Cameron, was apologetic after seeing my reviews and paid for her vet expenses, but he said he didn't notice any of this while she was in his care. it's going to be a long recovery process for my dog and This should not have happened; no amount of money can repay for this type of treatment of an animal. Really disappointed in this place.. gave it a shot due to good reviews, but I won't be bringing my dog back here. Picked him up after a few days around 4pm, it seemed like he hadn't been taken outside that day or at least since the morning. Was also told he would be getting a bath, but they didn't because they claimed he "curled his lip" at them. Our dog has been boarded PLENTY OF TIMES and never had any issues. They should probably take a closer look at who they have working there and see why perfectly friendly dogs have no interest interacting with them. He was very runny, come to find out he was fed the wrong dog food. You would think if they weren't sure what his food was they would call you and ask. I did talk to the owner, but basically everything was my dogs fault. Btw, They only do curbside and don't let you see their facility, and where your pet will be sleeping at night and spending their time at. ALWAYS TRUST YOUR GUT. read more

I am forever indebted to the staff at Texas Pet Resort. My rescue had a heartbreaking situation today with another boarding kennel. One of our puppies died and we were FRANTIC to remove the remaining two plus the mom because the other kennel owner ignored our calls/ texts. The owner picked up the dogs and spent the entire day caring for them and getting them into an emergency vet and making sure they received the care they did not receive at the other facility. I am so grateful to the staff. I highly recommend this kennel and cannot believe how above and beyond they went. read more

I had used their services in the past and my wife and I were very pleased. They dog sitted my youngest Miniature Schnauzer (Cam Cam) about 2-3 years ago. It was only for a day, however, when we picked him up he was very happy so we definitely said that Texas Pet Resort were going to be our official dog boarders. Recently, we had to leave in business trip for two weeks and we could not take our doggies with us. So, immediately contact Texas Pet Resort to make arrangements for them to take care of our babies during that time. When I originally spoke with Kamron, he stated they had two different type of boarding, standard indoor kennels with A/C and the Luxury VIP suites. We selected the standard indoor kennels since our dogs are indoor dogs. We brought their mobile kennels, their own bag of food (enough for 2.5 weeks), treats and with that, a note with all the instructions about them: when they get their treats and feeding their times. Cam Cam has a thyroid condition that requires to take oral medications on daily basis, so we left the medications as well, enough for their stay and some extra just in case. Our dogs is like our kids, so do not be surprise when I say that while we were out, we regularly called to check how our babies were doing, how they were behaving, if Cam Cam was getting his medications, etc and on each call, Kamron always very kindly replied that everything was fine and they were having a good time. We were very excited to finally arrived to pick them up until... Where do I start... First, we ask the lady in the front desk about how everything went, when right away she complained that my dogs were chatty and always barking (They are dogs and they bark and they are a pet service business. It seemed out of the ordinary that you complain about barking). When she brought Cam Cam first, my wife immediately notice that our mobile kennel was dirty, dusty, covered with paint shavings and inside, they were bird poop. So we right away looked at each other, how was this possible if they were in a indoor kennel with A/C. We asked the lady about this and she first stated that the paint shavings was because they were painting the ceiling and when we inquire about if they were inside, she stated that they are indoor/outdoor kennels (Nope, that was not what I requested when I spoke with Kamron) She then left to bring our oldest dog and we saw same story with his kennel. Then I asked about leftover food and treats, she left and brought the leftover treats and stated that the food ran out so they then started giving them the food they carry (Why no one told me about this when i called before, not that I was going to be able to bring more food but if that was the case, at least you could have told me in the many phone calls I made). I then asked for the medications cause I knew I left pills enough for the two weeks and extras, she then gave me the pill bottles and when I opened both of them, I could not believe it, almost all the pills were in there. That means that Cam Cam did not got his pills as prescribed and Kamron lied to me every time I called when I asked if he was taking his pills. It is very sad that after paying over $500 for your services, the least you expect is for your babies to be taken care of properly that you provide the services you requested. I always research ahead when I am going to require services for everything like I did for them in the past and just before I left them this time. Very good reviews online but now I am wondering if the reviews are about owners leaving their pets for just a day or two and not two weeks like us. Their reviews does not match to the service my doggies received. We are extremely disappointing with them and we definitely will not going to use their service again. read more

DON'T DO IT! JUST DON'T DO IT! Oh my! I am from out of town and I needed place to take my dog for daycare. This place was close so I scheduled a drop off. I went to pick her up just before 6:00. She was soaked in urine. I went behind the kennel door thinking I could help the young lady find my dog and that is when I saw the deplorable...DEPLORABLE...conditions the pets are kept in. There was urine all over the floors and the dogs looked like they were the dogs you see on tv begging to go home with someone. I took her outside and the stench was sooo bad I took her back in to see if they had a hose. They young lady said, I don't know but I can take her back and give her a bath. I went with her. Now, this young girl was maybe 120 lbs soaking wet and my dog is 70 lbs. She was supposed to lift my girl up into a shower that was suspended from the ceiling. There were no stairs for the dogs to climb up into the tub, for the safety of the dogs as well as for the girls back. I helped get her in and out of the tub and just left. I wish I could have given the girl some money but I was soooo upset. I didn't even let her dry her. My poor baby is sound asleep next to me. I wish I knew what agency I contact through this state to report this but I will find out! read more

Dropped our two dogs off a day before thanksgiving for a two night stay. They were the only facility in town with vacancies, and may be I should have wondered why and taken precautions. The reception area smelled like feces when I dropped my dogs off. Shame on me, another sign that I ignored because I was desperate to find a place to board them. We picked them up two days later. We noticed when we got home that one of them, a dachshund, was full of welts on his back. We called Texas Pet Resort asking what my dog had been exposed to. Despite their promise to find out and call us back, we never heard back from them. My dog developed a fever and we ended up taking him to an overnight vet clinic. He was put on steroid, antibiotics and antihistamine. The vet said my dog was likely stung by a bee or wasp and developed an allergic reaction. So, this place 1) can expose your dogs to harmful elements, 2) don't even pay attention to the well being of your dogs (my dog had big noticeable welts on his back, and they didn't even notice it or bring it to our attention), and 3) when confronted, they just hide behind the phone, not calling back and not answering our subsequent calls. read more

I recently rescued a Collie out of a shelter, she was in horrible condition. I called to see if I could get her over and get cleaned up. Low and behold my old groomer who used to groom my Collies answered the phone!! I brought the old girl in and she was treated with love and patients and she looked beautiful when I picked her back up!! I recently got 2 Collie puppies and am thrilled to know that Terry is at Texas Pet Resort and will be bringing my pups in the near future. I needed a place to leave my border collie while out on a cruise and based on a friend's recommendation chose Texas Pet Resort. I was nervous at leaving my baby behind with strangers but when I saw how Kameron handled and talked to her all my apprehensions were relieved. I could tell when I picked her up she was well taken care of and well treated. They even made sure she had a bath before releasing her. My sister dropped off her Pomeranian to be groomed and showed the groomer what haircut she wants and when he got him back he completely doesn't look like the picture. She even offered to send her the picture but she said she got it. Also when we got home I noticed that he has a rash on his chest area. read more

I am so picky and critical of anything that involves my dog. This place is absolutely awesome! My dog has been staying here for 3 yrs and they are always at the door ready and waiting to greet her. When we get to the door she is happy and wiggling her tail non stop. I've been known to drop her off without even a notice and they welcome her with open arms. I love how they spoil her and give her extra attention and are always letting her lick their face, I don't even do that at home! I have boarded my dogs, when needed, for years with the Pet Motel. I also have a small female who get groomed once a month and one who only needs nail trimming. I had to go into the hospital, for a procedure, and left them both for three nights. I got teased, a little, for all my "notes" as to how much to feed, when to feed, medication that needed to be given...using peanut butter to give with the pill..lol but I know the caretakers and I know they respect my wishes. I never worry when my dogs are in their care. They are loving and gentle AND knowledgeable people who will take good care. They go beyond what is necessary (they know what I mean) to help the pet parents. Thanks! read more

I notice the poor reviews, but they are all a bit older. Maybe there is new management? I boarded my cat, Fred, here for a week over the Christmas holiday. Fred came home well taken care of and happy to be home. All of the staff members I interacted with were very nice and seemed to really love animals. I thought the price was fair. Fred had a different smell when he came home, but it wasn't bad. Just different. Probably to be expected when there are a lot of animals in one place. read more

We boarded our dogs here for 3 nights. They were nice enough to only charge us for 2 because we were leaving town early Sunday morning when they were closed so they had us drop them off Saturday before closing. Everything would have been fine had we not heard a man angrily screaming at my dog to stop barking as we were waiting to pay. We will not bring our dogs back here. If this happens during business hours I can only imagine what happens when customers aren't around. read more

I would not give the one star, but I had no other option. Don't take your pets here!!! If you have a heart and love your fur babies!! I made the 5 day mistake of taking my pet for day care. First day, they did not feed him, and came up with some story that was so lame for the reason why. Second time he had huge cuts on the inside of his leg where the skin had been removed. When I asked what that was from, ( I was already home when I noticed) Supposedly he fell in the swimming pool You would think that was important enough to mention to me. Day 3 the manager of the place has a gun tucked behind his back in his pants!! You are probably wondering why I kept going back, well my dog seemed to like the guy who was running the place. He would get excited when he saw him. So, I thought if he was reacting differently then I would not go back. Day four I am positive my dog was not fed again, and day 5 my dog came home and drank water like there was no more to be found on the earth! The clincher for me was my dog started to jump up on the managers shoulder, something I would forbid, so he was teaching him really bad habits. Then that same weekend a customer came into where I worked and his dog was shivering. We asked if he was cold, and the owner replied no, he's never been the same after we left him at Texas Pet Resort for a weekend. The dog has severe anxiety all the time. Separation disorder where he never had this before. That was it!!! No more for me. The other thing is my dog never interacted with other dogs because there weren't any dog there for day care!!
