My two can't get up the stairs fast enough so they can go outside and play with all their doggy friends. They are in a safe, clean and well run environment with people whom I believe are true animal lovers. I know my pups are safe and happy and come home tired because they've had so much fun. Both of my pups are rescues. One is as confident and as adventurous as can be. But the other is more reserved and skittish. 'd like to just preface this review with, my husband and I have been taking our three dogs to Pet Recess for 4+ years and have utilized all services. Daycare, boarding and Grooming. Typically our dogs would attend daycare during the week and on very rare occasions would attend daycare on a Saturday. If our dogs were attending daycare on a Saturday, they were usually boarded for the weekend. In our time at Pet Recess all interactions were positive and cordial that is unless Julia Dixon, the owner was working. Any time Julia is working you can expect a crass, overall unfriendly attitude. But I never minded because you never know what people are going through. My dealings were mostly with Melissa who is fantastic. But fast forward to this past weekend my husband and I were hosting our son's first birthday party and opted to send our three dogs to Pet Recess for the day. We mistakenly believed pick-up was at 7pm but were quick to realize it was actually 5pm after receiving several borderline threatening voicemails and texts from Julia Dixon. My husband spoke with Julia on the phone who was audibly huffing and puffing but had agreed to stay open for us to pick up our dogs. Again, we were in the wrong and understood that we were, and my husband apologized again. Upon arrival at 5:30pm to Pet Recess my husband walked in and the first words out of Julia Dixon's mouth was "Five-o-clock means Five-o-clock". Now my very even keel husband had to endure a barrage of insulting, argumentative and just plain nastiness. All the while having planned on going in and apologizing for our oversight. Now were we wrong in mixing up the time? Certainly. But just the demeanor of this women, and how she speaks to customers is disgusting. We were charged an excessive late fee, that I'm sure was created on the spot, as everything is more expensive when Julia is working. But it was mutually agreed we would never take our dogs back to Pet Recess again. It is baffling how years patronage can just be thrown away without a second thought. I just wanted to pass along my experience. If being treated like garbage doesn't bother you, then by all means go. But if like me, a reasonable person, you value good customer service and just kindness and understanding. Go elsewhere, you won't find that with Julia Dixon and Pet Recess. Also, if you've made it this far, take a look some of the other negative reviews. You can see for yourselves, the responses are from Julia and even her responses are nasty and argumentative. So to Julia Dixon, good luck with that business model and I hope you have the day you deserve. To the staff of Pet Recess thank you for 4+ years of kindness and true love of animals. Everyone I spoke to here was polite and helpful. By the amount of regular clients they have on a daily basis, we knew this would be a great place. Kathy took the time to speak with me before Nelson's grooming, which was amazing. She made sure our very timid and scared rescue was comfortable and as calm as could be during the grooming. She did an amazing job and I highly recommend this business. We will be coming back for day care and future grooming needs. 10/10! read more

Did not want to write a review, but after the owner called me back to discuss my concerns she was then rude, and unwilling to listen to what I had to say.. We dropped off our eldest dog(a golden retriever) to get groomed. Told them what we would like clean up feathering , wash, nails.. Our dog came back shaved After they refunded us for the shaved dog cost Our youngest dog that goes to day care ended up getting kennel cough I called spoke to a women at the desk and said they had 3 confirmed cases We had been in the building 6 times this week and not 1 person told us , called, or emailed about the out break I understand things happen but when you are at max capacity and have 100 dogs I think having communication to let your customers know the risk of an outbreak is morally right If you care for your dogs health and safety I would not send them to this business 0 communication skills read more

Since moving to Lakeville, I've been bringing my mastiff here to have nails clipped. Yesterday, I called to be sure Kathy would be available; as she does the big dogs. I was told she'd be available until 5 pm today. After rushing home from work, I raced my dog over. When I arrived, I was told Kathy was sent home because it was slow. Then I was lectured about calling first by an older lady with an accent. I asked "how times would you like me to call?" I didn't appreciate they "Oh well..." attitude! This lady, who I assume runs the place, should learn from her staff how to deal with customers. Her staff have been great. Too bad... Anybody know where I should bring my dog now? read more

I have been taking my Labrador Retriever to Pet Recess for 8 years, and I have nothing but positive things to say about this Doggie Disney World. The fact that they take care of so many pups, and deal with so many "helicopter parents" with special needs is amazing, it's beyond me how the staff can keep their cool. In addition, I receive emails immediately whenever there is a "cold in school," asking parents to keep their dogs at home if their pup is not well... the communication is excellent. The only problem I've had is making sure my pup gets there early enough in the morning to get a space, they fill up with 100 pups by 07:00 am or earlier! Doggie Disney World!! read more

Dog was boarded. When picked up she had dry blood on fur. Wasnt herself. Got vet appoint few days later. Large cut/sore on back. PR insisting it was hot spot. Vet could not conclusively say what caused it but was sent home with an infected cut. Never called and no one noticed my poor dog in pain. Took two weeks to heal. PR took no resposiblity for injury and did not help with huge vet bill. read more

All my dogs love playing at Pet Recess for Sunday play time. The staff is very friendly and stays out and monitors all play which is great. The prices are reasonable and the other owners are always friendly as well. My ONLY dislike is the lack of signs and direction. My first time trying to find the play area was difficult because the parking lot is in front of the groomers which is closed on Sundays. There is a dirt parking lot on the side and you enter the warehouse to the park but it was hard to find. A sign or two would be very helpful and worth the while. read more

Spoke to them numerous times. once on the phone and once in person. I sent all the correct paperwork they requested. I brought my 7 month old puppy in for there evaluation and to stay the day. I left for my 30 min drive to work. Less than an hour later I get a call from a very rude owner that said my puppy wasn't neutered and couldn't stay there. Great. Why wasn't I told this before? What kind of place doesn't ask these questions? This isn't his first daycare no other daycare mentioned this. It's recommended to wait until a year old to get him neutered. Now I had to inconvenience my family to pick him up. When they got there to get him they pretty much held my puppy hostage. They wanted 2 payments a $50 evaluation and a half day charge of $30. Are you kidding me? He was there less than an hour. Assessments are usually four hours long and then a half a day charge on top of that for an hour. There screw up and I get charged? Not only charged but a ridiculous amount for less than an hour. Crooks with very bad communication and bad attitudes. It starts and ends with the owner. I hope this spares someone the aggravation, inconvenience and money I went thru. If you care for your dog don't put them there. Stay away from Pet Recess. read more

I took my 18 year old cat to Pet Recess for a grooming this week. Finney had been a bit depressed due to the passing of his sister...they had been together for 18 years. He had stopped grooming himself and was unkempt and dirty, and hard to even pet, his fur flying everywhere. When his grooming was completed, I picked up what seemed to be a brand new kitty. Kathy was amazing handling a skitish animal, cleaned, brushed, clipped nails. Normally he doesn't like to be held or picked up, but Kathy had the magic touch and treated him with love and cuddles. Would never send my dog here. All you hear are people screaming at the dogs, and if you ask anyone on the street there is not a positive review about this place. They also do not obey any local noise ordinance. Dogs are left barking all night with no supervision. Not sure why the town hasn't done anything about this. read more

I was a little worried about my 1 yr old brat playing well with others when I brought her there for a 1 hour trial visit. My parents little dogs were too intimidated by her size and energy. I came back to see her running around, jumping and playing with about 5 other dogs. The next time i went back she was with a dozen dogs. Even though there is a risk when a large group of dogs are together I think it is invaluable for her. I plan to leave her here at least once per week. I always pick up a tired happy dog. read more
