I was at Newport Richey location which had just opened The young woman at the front desk was very nice and the groomer was terrific.The only complaint I have is that there was only two chairs in the lobby and a woman stated that she had waited three hours. Also there should accommodate more outside parking /pick up area than two cars. This remodeled house should have addressed these before opening. Wow, where do i start. Brought my 120 lb Catahoula to get his nails clipped, ears clean and a bath. We were text to let us know our dog Larry was ready. We asked if everything went well and that he was a good boy. We were told everything was fine and we paid our bill. My wife came home, dropped our dog in the condo and we went outside to look at some plants in our garden. We come back in and there is blood everywhere on our floors, couch, rugs, bed etc. I mean lots of blood. ( Helter Skelter). The blood was coming from our dog. After about 25 mins of trying to hold down my dog we notice the blood was coming from his back paw , the quick had been cut way too short. My dog was not happy and was scared. My wife had to run to Petsmart to get some medication to put on the wound. After 30 mins of holding my dog down the blood stopped. Super crazy and exhausting. Now to deal with the house. The couch and rugs, carpet need to be steam clean. The $400 comforter needs to be cleaned or replaced. This all happen on Friday 9/5/25. On Sat morning i called the Salon to raise my complaints. The staff told me that they did cut the quick too short but felt there was no need to tell us. I said what kind of business are you running. She stated it happens all the time. I said i have own dogs for over 35 yrs and this has never happen to any of my dogs. She said she could not help me , only the owner can rectify any issues. I said ok i will speak to her. The owner then called me and stated that they do that quite often and it's normal practice. I stated you are kidding me. I wanted to be reinbursed for the wash, the medication i had to buy,my couch ,rugs,and carpets cleaned plus my comforter dry cleaned. She stated thats not her fault, its a small business and she can't afford it. No insurance? She then offered to pay for the bath , i stated she owed for the cleaning as well. She stated i should not be angry and it happens all the time. SMH. I stated see you in court. Beware do not take your precious pets here for anything. They are rude, untrained, unprofessional and they injured my dog. Do not patron this business unless you want to see your vet later. As a combat wounded veteran i was treated by the enemy better. Belligerent owner told me that she wanted to shave my dog down to the skin. I explained to her that I need my baby in my wedding and only wanted a trim and she berated me in front of her staff. I told her that I will pay her double but she didn't want that. I told her I wouldn't be returning in not so polite terms. She worked over time to take down this review on Google. I can't say enough about the Pet Starr. I had been over the last eight months to five different groomers. Everyone told me they would not be able to take care of my rescue Mr. Jones. He is not a vicious dog he was just very scared I tried calming treats a muzzle. everything I could think of to calm him down. I took him in to Pet Starr and Casandra took him over right away. She took the muzzle off of him and said that is stressing him out. She tried to put a cone on him and he took it off immediately. My poor 9lb shih poo came here on 5/9. He was nicked in several places around his body, such as, the tip of his tail, under his chin and on his private parts. Please be aware that they are under new ownership. I've been a client for 4 years and have always been very satisfied with their service. I recently made an appointment and had a truly terrible experience. Asked to speak to the owner and was informed the business was sold. Very rude. The new owner has increased prices dramatically and does not notify you before hand. they did not follow directions and did the opposite of what I asked. very poor customer service. 3 stars because they do a great job, but have horrible customer service. The prices have gone up quite a bit since I've started going here 3 years ago. Watch out though . The lady raises the price every time you go back without letting you know. So don't go in there with your check already made out. I understand that she may need to increase her prices, but you need to let your customer know before hand. I went here because she was the best price and cut for my kitty. First Class! Our toy poodle buddy always gets exactly the cut we want, we have changed styles, over time and they always get it right. Buddy usually has some anxiety going to the groomers, but at Pet Starr he seems to be doing fine. They must be treating him well. We have been going to Pet Starr since 2014 when we were visiting family and our kids needed cuts! Now that we live in Florida, we happily drive the hour because there's no one else we trust more to groom our Poms. Other groomers have cut too short and messed up the hair of one, but not this place! We get the lion cut on two and teddy bear on the third every time. They are 100% worth every penny and minute it takes to drive up there. read more

Pretty fair prices and always do a good job on my two cats. I pay about $50/each for lion cuts. It's really hard to find someone willing to groom cats, especially in that price range, so we keep taking them back. My only gripe is that one time I picked my cats up and when I got home they had fleas! Ugh. I guess that can't really be helped in that industry. read more
