I came back to get my 5 month old puppy after an hour to find him in a cage with his cut not done. when I asked why he was sitting in a cage the lady upfront said "we're backed up and he will be ready to go at 7". we dropped our dog off at 4. so they were ok with leaving a puppy in a cage crying for 3 hours because of their staffing issues. do not take your pets here. what a joke read more

This is a great place! Whatever I've needed for my puppy, I've been able to find there.The environment is clean, the employees are nice, and Ivy is always happy to take a stroll through the aisles. Between groomings, I find that bathing her at at Pet Supplies, with their tubs & supplies, is much easier than showering her at home. You bring the dog and they supply the rest! It's beyond easy! Then the pandemic hit and so I've been risking going in to stores including this one which btw always has great customer service. This time, I decided to try their online ordering and my only regret is why I didn't use this sooner! Talk about fast and easy, you don't have to wait weeks just to get your dog or cat food. Got my Orijen for my senior dog, Natures instinct for my pup and for my cat (plus treats!) I love that they delivered it the next day and nicely packed in recyclable materials. Made a second attempt to get my dogs groomed after they canceled the last appointment the morning of. Came in with both dogs and immediately was put off by the groomer telling me all the reasons she "may not be able to groom my puppy." Admitting she hadn't looked over any of the information that I provided ahead of my appointment, at her request. Apparently, puppies are extremely difficult for her to groom. Then gave me a million reasons she might not be able to groom my senior dog after I told her to be cautious grooming around his skin tags. He's 14. After addressing with the manager, Michelle- she giggled and said "yeaaaaa, I wish our website was more clear. Sorry about that." So I've now wasted two days for sh*tty customer service. I will also be reaching out to corporate. If you have a puppy, just be warned they may or may not groom them. Dealers choice. Don't even waste your time. read more

I like this Pet Supplies Plus location much more than the one that used to be in Highland Park, near the Jewel. The layout is much more sensible, the store seems better maintained, and there's more adjacent parking. Pet Supplies Plus is where I go when I want to get the basics - grooming supplies, toys, simple treats, leashes, collars, and other such accessories. They also have a pretty solid selection of dog and cat food, including several boutique and specialty brands, and prices that are competitive to the other chain pet supply stores in the area. When shopping for such items, I definitely prefer Pet Supplies Plus over the local PetCo and PetSmart locations. Neither are bad locations, Pet Supplies Plus is just nicer with more knowledgeable staff. In almost any other market, this Pet Supplies Plus would be a 5 star location; however it has some VERY stiff competition from the more boutique-style pet stores Bentley's (two locations), Pet People, and Kriser's. The customer care, pet services, and specialty-brand foods at these locations are almost impossible to top. Still, Pet Supplies Plus will beat them in price any time they have the same brand. When I need a staple item, or want to save a couple of dollars on a pet accessory, Pet Supplies Plus is my preferred stop. They aren't a boutique-style pet store, but I think they're a notch above PetCo and PetSmart (I consider them 4 stars, while Pet Supplies Plus is a 4.5). read more

With all the COVID-19 mess happening now, at times she's the only employee at the store, and has to deal with unruly, inconsiderate customers. I felt guilty ordering one little thing for curbside pick-up, having not known she was so understaffed. I thanked her profusely and wished her well. She's doing all she can to keep it together. Stocking shelves. Taking online orders. Keeping all the live animals alive. Running a place like this is no joke, and the customers I saw treating her like garbage should be ashamed of themselves. Hang in there Julie! You deserve hazard pay and a huge raise. My go-to place for almost everything my 7yo GSD needs. They'll price match local competitors and online ones like Chewy and Amazon too. Just not the initial 20-30% off subscribe-and-save deals. I recently switched my dude to another food that had a BOGO offer for their 4lb. bags. The flavor I wanted was out of stock. Julie was nice enough to write up a raincheck ticket for me, and took down my contact info. It did take her awhile to call back to let me know my order was ready, and she apologized. All good. I still shop here all the time. I'm getting ready to move farther away (west) and wish there was a Pet Supplies Plus in that area, but there isn't. The closest one is going to be in Buffalo Grove. I'll still come all the way east to Deerfield though. I just came the other day because I needed to exchange the crate I'd bought as it was too short for my girl (she could hardly raise her head, poor thing, even though technically it was the right weight limit for her, according to the box, but her breed needs a bigger crate), and they took the crate back with no hassle, and worked with me to find the correct height crate for her. I bought the right crate now, and I'm THRILLED! Shame on me for buying the crate the first time without her there! I also as always, bought canned dog and cat food for donation, and will continue to do so whenever I am able to. Please consider opening a Pet Supplies Plus closer to the Barrington Hills area! After being a customer for over 12 years at this Deerfield pet supplies plus and purchasing all of my pet supplies, grooming aids, toys, litter, food all totaling every visit at least over $70 I will now no longer be using this store. I had four fancy feast cans of cat food that my kitties Hate and all I wanted to do was exchange the four cans for a flavor they would like. The female at the counter said without a receipt and if it wasn't in their records for a month they could not exchange my four measly cans. Then she said- But you can donate them! I spent that day over $70 in the store and they lost my business over and exchange of four cans of cat food worth $2.40. Bad decision. I suggest you all go to Petco and pet smart. read more

I went to Pet Supplies where there is a Hugh selection of pet food but I had no idea what to get. The young man that assisted me was outstanding. So I liked the store pretty well when it was near the Jewel in Highland Park, so much so that I take my business to them over to the Lake Cook Road location in Deerfield. I've only given four stars instead of five because it's not as good of a value since the location changed. The bad is that the prices seem to have gone up at the Deerfield location so that they're no longer cheaper than their competitor's prices, at least on canned cat food. The good is the store still has the same friendly vibe and nice selection of quality food brands and fun toys. There's also always plenty of knowledgeable staff at this location and it's easy to get help when you need advice on comparing options for food or toys for the animals. I'll definitely be back, and I'll keep my eyes out for the weekly discounts for pet supplies plus card-holders, as some fairly decent deals come along regularly. read more

All the staff here is friendly and helpful. They have never failed to offer help carrying large items out to my car. They have helped fit many a harness to a very squiggly dog without complaint. My very best experience though came just the other day when they were stocked out of both the medium and large size bags of my dog's brand of food. Only the small bags remained - at a higher per unit price. I went into the store and realized my coupon was for curbside and was told i couldn't use it. I then asked if they would honor my Petsmart coupon. The clerk then proceeded to call her mgr on the walkie talkie and i got the opportunity to hear Michelle's long winded reason why they needed to print a coupon, couldn't do a bogo, couldn't do a few other things, when i finally asked for Michelle to come to the register as the clerk was obviously new. Michelle said it would be a while, so i finally said never mind "Michelle's" obviously not interested in my sale. Granted it was only for $80, but still i've never experienced poor service at this location. So i proceeded to go out to my car, order online, get my coupon and then the clerk had to answer my call that i was there, pull the food, bring it out to my car, check the receipt. Had Michelle bothered to train the new clerk or have some acknowledgement of customer service (as i had to listen to her entire dialogue on the walkie talkie) they probably could have saved themselves a lot of work and me a lot less frustration. read more
