The store is alway clean and the staff helpful. They carry better quality pet products than the larger pet store chain. I have never been approached by a dog food representative and told I was feed my dogs or cats crap food. The self wash is reasonable and opened later than other self-wash facilities which is good in an emergency. My one complaint is the soap is set to high on the self-wash. I understand people want to see suds or they don't think it's working, but when you have a curly coated dog like a Standard Poodle, it makes it impossible to rinse out. Still good in a pinch. This chain of stores is great. We use the one on West Road often, so had no qualms about going to the Southgate store. Always helpful and friendly staffs. Great selection of high-quality pet food. We have a picky cat so having a lot of choices makes it easier for us. Love the Origen Six Fish hard food with 90% Premium Animal Ingredients. No cereals or grains. The difference in our cat's coat was evident after a couple weeks. She also coughs up hairballs a lot less. Feeding our pets meat instead of grains, helps them fight arthritis and digestive issues, from our experience. We tried Weruva's "Seafood Eat It" variety pack and she loved it. Highly recommend Pet Supplies Plus. We've had several cats throughout the years and know good pet supply stores when we find them. We also bought a cat climber for our new home and it's great. This is the first time I've had a very disappointing visit. not sure if it's under new management or what. No welcome or Hi from anybody. Everyone seemed to ignore me. No can I help you. They no longer had my dry cat food. They would not honor the coupons in there sale paper. I could only use one. There loss I can go other places. My First and Very Last time going to This location. I spent a total of 113.00 dollars in this store this morning. First off Dog self dog wash is Cool to cold temperature in water . Second of all No force cone nozzle available to dry your dog. I told this jackaloon manager or employee with the glasses reddish brown color of facial hair mustache short trimmed beard. He did nothing about anything. I was . Then I slipped and fell inside the store. The jackaloon didn't even ask if I was ok.help me. or seek to file an incident report of my slip and fall.dogs don't like cold water to bathe in. The store is very clean always with the shelves well stocked, as much as is possible given current supply chain issues that are out of their hands (Brandon regime). I took my dog here for the first time today for a nail trim and to get her teeth brushed. I would like to give a shout out to the groomer Maddie for outstanding customer service and doing a good job with my dog. I came in around 935-940 and didn't realize the groomers wasn't open until 10am. I asked her if a nail trim and teeth brushed would still be considered a walk in and intended on coming back. She said "just let me get my computer up and running and I can take care of you." She saved me an extra trip back and forth, which was very much appreciated. My dog is super timid about being groomed and Maddie handled her very well! Great job! read more

I recently just came into this store to wash my dog after taking him to the park to play - He's a Golden and there were puddles - so let me tell ya, he was MUDDY. I walked up to the lady to pay for a dog wash and she proceeded to tell me that they do not sell dog washes 30 minutes before close so she can't let me wash my dog. It would've taken me maybe 10 minutes to just rinse him off real quick - and she clearly saw that he was covered in mud from head to toe. I didn't want to be rude so we just left with our muddy dog but i just thought it was rude to deny a customer that was CLEARLY desperate to wash their filthy dog. I have been going here for years but today will probably be my last time. I went yesterday to buy cat litter as I ran out and I couldn't go before because I had to wait until I got paid. I was upset to see that they didn't have my litter so I asked an employee and he said he looked it up and said it came in today and should be in the back. He came back from back room and said he couldn't get to them. Employee, who I think was the manager, Deb told me to come back tomorrow and ask for her and that I would get it then. I told her that I really needed it today but would come back tomorrow. So, today I go back and the litter is not on the shelf. I asked an employee if Deb was here and she was right there looking like she was leaving. I reminded her about yesterday and she told an employee to get it for me from the back. We went back twice and told me he couldn't get to it. I ended up calling the store in Woodhaven and they had it so I drove there and bought it. If I would have known they didn't put it on the shelf yet, I would have to not gone to the Southgate store and wasted my time. Looks like Woodhaven will be my new store. How hard is it to do what you tell a customer you will do? I was very unhappy and will not be going back. read more

I am so happy they opened a location right down the street from my house! This location is new, clean and has a wide variety of services. My first PRO is that they have live feeder mice. Second, they have a self service wash area for dogs. It's only $10 and they supply everything you need to bathe your pet yourself. The staff is also very helpful. I don't know if this is a pro or con, but they do not have puppies or kittens. My daughter loves to visit them all, and is kinda bummed they don't have them here. No no no no, please dont shop here, i was talking to one of the managers about my fish that recently passed, (bought from here) i was also talking and asking questions about a hermit crab, ive done so much research but just needed one more thing i asked her what size tank they need, she started telling me that they needed a lid, and tons of unnecessary things, does she think my hermit crab is going to jump out of a ten gallon long and foot high glass tank?? I dont think so. Best place to take your dog for grooming! Just took my German Shepard/lab mix in today and he was shedding bad! After a bath and a deferment he is so soft and I am not pulling chunks of hair out anymore! Couldn't be happier! Highly recommend them anyone! read more

Not pleased at all with grooming department. Maybe they were having a bad day but the lady at the desk has no customer service skills. My dog didn't like her or want to go with her. Then before I even left the store they came to tell me they couldn't groom him because he wouldn't let them. He left the store shaking and crying and still not groomed. Will not be back and don't recommend.What a waste of my time. read more
