I took my 3 dogs for grooming and it was a very good experience. My dog wiggled out of his collar and they were terrific in catching him. The groom went wonderful two of my dogs were done by Lorena and she did a fabulous job. The 3rd dog was done by Kenneth and he did a good job. I gave the store a 4 star because they need a better selection of collars, leashes and clothes. read more

What a terrible grooming experience! If I could give zero stars, I would! I had an appointment scheduled for about a week and received a call the day before the scheduled appointment saying that the groomer my dog was scheduled with, which I selected any groomer as this is not my regular grooming location, had called out and they could not accommodate the grooming appointment. They asked if I can reschedule for another day that weekend after which I said I could not as we were traveling and needed her groomed before we left. They then rescheduled her for the day after her originally scheduled appointment. The day of the grooming was a nightmare. She had a 3pm appointment. We called to see if we could drop her off a little before the appointment because we had to be somewhere else at the same time and was told yes. My husband got there 20 mins before the appointment and waiting for 20 mins for the groomer to come to the front. The groomer never arrived and he had to leave. He went back shortly after 3pm as was greeted with a long line. After waiting in line for over 10 mins, he finally made it to the front and was scolded for being late. My husband told them he was waiting in line and was told that they would check the camera, which I thought was extremely rude. I received a phone call from one of the groomers 15 or so mins later saying he had taken over the grooming appointment, not the one my husband spoke with at drop off, and wanted to go over the hair cut. We asked for a long cut and he said she was a little matted and would need to cut it a little shorter than a long cut. We said it was ok because we've experience this before with her normal groomer, a different Petco location, and figured she has a lot of hair and it wouldn't be too short. We were also informed the appointment would take 3-4 hours. By 7pm we still hadn't heard from anyone. We thought to give them time as they seemed really busy that day and our regular groomer usually calls if they were running behind. We called 7:45pm only to be told that our dog had been ready, they were closing at 8pm, and that I had been called several time. I received not one call since speaking with the groomer around 3pm. My husband goes to pick up our dog and she was completely shaved! I was furious when he came home. This was completely unacceptable and unnecessary. We will NEVER return here for grooming! Thankfully it's just hair that will grow back but it's still cold out and for my dog to be practically bald is devastating, especially since she is meeting family for the first time. read more

Usually go in for grooming. In the past 5 days I went twice for nail clipping, for which you cannot make an appointment on line, but was told "we're too busy". Too busy? On a Wednesday at 2PM? To do nail clipping which takes like 10 minutes? If you cant make appt. on line and cant get service when you walk in, stop offering the service. Just wasting time. Otherwise the store is a bit messy (I've seen worse though) and the prices are almost always shockingly high. I wont be back. read more

The price was listed at $4.99 per fish, but I was charged $18.87 on my credit card by a young woman with black hair. I can't dispute this because I've already placed the fish into my community tank, and I shouldn't have been conducting a business call while at the register instead of paying attention to what she rang up. I have been coming here for years, to get my Yorkie groomed. I've seen groomers come and go but, there's one that is here now....totally irresponsible. I was there for my 9am appointment today, the one I made two weeks ago. There were no employees in the grooming salon...NO ONE. The young gentleman by the cash register called the manager to the front. The manager, Emilio, said he believes the groomers are starting at 10am today. When he checks the computer for my appointment, lo and behold...9AM. After making some calls, he said the groomer, thought HE had to be in at ten. The groomer told Emilio he would arrive to the store in 15 minutes. Emilio offered to give me a discount after I asked him, how he would compensate me? While waiting in my car, I called another nearby PETCO and explained my situation. I now have a 12:00pm appointment with them. I went back into the store and explained to Emilio that I would not trust my pet to someone so irresponsible. And mind you, I already had an unpleasant experience with HIM in the past. I told him how great Kathy and Ashley are in the grooming department. They are the only reason this is not a one star review. I will, from now on, only make an appointment when I can get Ashley or Kelly to care for my pet. All of this took ten minutes and still no groomer in sight. I took my cat to Vetco , My cat needed blood work, I saw Dr Brenton. at the Baldwin location. After the blood work was done i waited a couple days and I called back. The staff kept saying the doctor would call me when the results were in so I waited . But.. no call from the Dr. Another 2 days later. So I called them , The staff says to me again. The doctor would give me a call by the end of the day. But of course she never did! I ended up calling back. I finally got the Dr. On The phone I was shocked! It felt like I was chasing after my pets test results. I felt awful. (1)because my cat was sick (2 ) I wish I would have took him to a vet that had compassion. This is a terrible business. Ok. So the vet tells me my cat has diabetes. Very high diabetes. Now this is turning into a emergency. But now she tells me she will get back to me with a treatment plan. That was a lie. And they blocked my number. I can't even call to book a follow up appointment. I called from a friend's number and Vetco picked up on the second ring. Whenever I used my number. It goes straight to voicemail. please don't take your pets there . If anyone has any questions about my review, please feel free to contact me. At this point I just want my cat to get healthy again, you can't leave diabetes untreated. I'm crying while I'm writing my review, this is so sad. They just took my money, blocked my calls. I strongly recommend against anyone getting their pets groomed at this location. I brought my dog in for a nail trimming and the woman behind the counter said she could take her. She seemed nervous but I though maybe she had gotten nipped or something by a dog recently. She almost immediately cut multiple quicks on my dog. I know that this sometimes happens but it was clear she didn't know what she was doing and didn't even realize my dog was bleeding. My dog obviously reacted when that happened because it is painful and she proceeded to tighten the neck harness to where my dog was choking. At this point I started banging on the glass (thankfully I was there watching) and said I would take my dog home with two bleeding paws. She didn't even notice the bleed I had to point it out for her to put the antiseptic powder on. The groomers name is Rohina (I think that is the correct spelling), do not let her touch your dog. After this incident happened everyone in the grooming staff came out to talk to me and to say there have been problems with her and should file a complaint. If that is the case..WHY WAS SHE ALLOWED TO TAKE MY DOG IN THE FIRST PLACE. While this was a walk-in everyone knew my dog. We would have gladly waited for someone who was capable of taking care of her. It seemed like everyone just was waiting for this to happen so someone would complain to get this woman fired. I will never go back to PetCo for anything after this. I will say if you have to go there John who we usually take her to is lovely. He never uses choke collars, he has someone hug and pet her if she's nervous. He gives her love. I am sad that we will not be back to see him but I refuse to give Petco any more of my business read more

On Thursday 8/04/22 I went to the Petco store in Oceanside on Long Beach rd . I was in there for about two hours trying to get my two dogs new collars, leashes & some other accessories. I received very little help from staff. They appeared very disinterested, I mean if your on the floor & I keep coming to you 3, 4, 5, 6 times for assistance. It is your job to recognize that hey this customer needs help with our products let me support them. So I left the store frustrated & empty handed. On Friday 08/05/22 I went to the Petco store in Baldwin on SunriseRise high way. I was in there approximately 3 minutes looking for two dog collar leashes & some other accessories. A store representative name Alfred came right where I was and assist me in not only selecting what I needed but made sure I was satisfied. He measured the collars on my two dogs, picked out matching leashes. Then we went over and he explained to me the different varieties of dog treats. Alfred was so polite and informative. While on the check out line I saw Alfred giving that same attention he gave to me to several other customer on the floor. I spend over $200.00 in that store. Alfred should be the poster child of how a employee engages with guest that come into a establishment. Where do I begin...... First off, let me say that Anthony is this location's only hope. If not for him this review would be less than 2 stars. He has been the only person at this location in 10 months that has helped me resolve the multiple issues I have had at this location. The grooming dept only has one person that I would ever go to, Kim S. She is amazing! She cares for my dog while grooming her properly and it's such a pleasant experience when she's there. Now the Vetco dept. HORRIBLE!!!!!! Let me be clear that this isn't based on the staff individually, this is based on the department as a whole. This Vetco has sold to me expired medication, open medication, which they opened it to mix it so I should have been told ahead of time not two days later after I called to complain, and I was over charged for things that were to be covered under the Vital Care Premium membership. The Vetco at this location is HEAVILY understaffed!!!!!! I can never get someone on the phone and I always have to call a Petco in Eastern Suffolk county when I'm in Nassau County to get answers at a location they know nothing about. It is very unprofessional and unpleasant to have to go through this every month because I cannot get any resolution to this ongoing issue. I took my dog, Hugo, to get a haircut at this petco location. I explicitly asked for them NOT to shave him because of the cold winter months approaching. To my horror I arrived to find Hugo completely shaved and shivering. The manager insisted I pay for this atrocious haircut and when I refused he yelled at me and said "FINE don't pay but don't ever come back" I would not recommend this location to anyone who cares about their pets. I arrived for my grooming appointment for my Yorkie at 8:00a. My appointment was 8:15am. I waited and even called the store to get someone to come to the counter. John, the groomer, came to the counter at 8:40/8:45a. This is not the first time my dog has been groomed by Petco and it normally takes an hour. It is now 10:30 almost 2 hours later and they told me my dog isn't ready. And that it will take another hour. How? My dog is small and he was the first appointment. And there are other dogs who came after my dog and left before. There are like 4 other groomers there right now. So I'm confused. I was interested in the services provided by Vetco at this location. I had tried to schedule an appointment to spay my cat when I was told I would need to schedule a consultation first. When asked how much, I was told around $70. I was told that at the consultation I would be told what bloodwork I needed to have done prior to spaying, this would be another visit before the actual spay visit. I wasn't given an estimate on price for bloodwork as she said it would depend on what tests were needed. Then when asked about the cost of spaying I was told they couldn't give any kind of estimate. Not a range nor a max price you could expect to pay. She said they have 3 vets and the price is determined by the individual vet...wtf?!! I've never heard of anything like that. I have called several vets, some of whom were not cheap but none declined to offer an estimate. Not being able to give an estimate seems super shady so I decided to continue calling around. Why does it take Vetco 3 visits to do what the ASPCA does in an afternoon from a bus?!?! And I'm sure once everything's said and done Vetco will cost 10x as much. I just can't. read more

So unhelpful & rude. I am looking to get my dog neutered and my vet charges a lot for it. At my vets recommendation she said since he is a rescue puppy I should call a few other places that often have better pricing for rescues. I've been calling several places to get price quotes and everywhere has been saying over the phone estimates or ballparks. I called petco in Baldwin and the person who answered the phone immediately said no you are not a client. And I can't even imagine to give a ballpark. What? I went into this store with my friend and her dog to get a few random things. I noticed they have a bakery style bar for dogs. There is many types of biscuits, cookies, and other bacon treats, which I thought was a cute idea. You pick what you want and its sold by the piece. I really like that you can let your dog walk around as long as they have a leash on. The clothing selection was blah, they had many small sizes, but not many medium and large sizes. The selection was bad, they had many pegs of the same outfit. so a whole six foot aisle was dedicated to five outfits. I had to dig for a good one that we liked for the dog. I finally found one....one hidden deep in the clothes. Many of them were on the floor, my friend looked at me picking them up and said; "Nina, you don't work here, stop." I'm sorry, I know I don't work here, but I don't need to step over with my wet nasty boots over these clothes. (It's a pet peeve of mine. For the sake of argument, I didn't put them all on the hook, I made a nice large pile at the end of the gondola on the end-cap. When we went to the washing care section, aka soap 'n' bubbles section, we were left with little to no selection. we found a couple of decent inexpensive ones, and then there were the commercial style high end products, that my friend opted to buy, because she felt more comfortable with that. We headed back towards the cash register to buy training pads and i step in pee, slide and fell into the arms of an vertically enormous man with a tiny dog. He caught me and prevented me from falling and busting my patootie. Which I said 'Thank You a handful of times. He turned red, said 'your welcome' and proceeded with his shopping. We got distracted at the cash register debating with the cashier about the pet safe salt they had on sale for the snow. Apparently, regular salt we use to melt the snow is bad for the dog's pads in their paws. My debate was, why not use Cat litter? To make a long review shorter, we paid for our items, your employees are good public speakers but bad at floor maintenance. Please expand your selection, or keep supplies full. The pee on the floor? I'm not worried, someone would eventually clean it up. Its a pet store. As far as the man who prevented me from busting my butt on the pee? Looked into the grooming area at the Baldwin Petco and noticed a large, black and white dog. Noticeable because it was shivering, panting, mouth open. Appeared scared. I mentioned this to an employee working in the section and suggested perhaps the dog needed to be petted ( might calm him down). She seemed to agree but did nothing. Then mentioned my observation to a woman who appeared to be a manager of the section, who disagreed with me, said the dog was not scared, just young and first time (how does that address what I said?) and that petting the dog would distract the groomer. Clearly, the animal was not the priority here. Would not bring any of my pets here. read more

Baldwin Petco is one of the more friendlier Petcos' around. I volunteered at this Petco for almost a year through Kat Connection. The employees were always helpful, friendly, and down to earth. Before the high-tech gates and doors were installed, kittens escaped from the Cat room often! The staff was always helping me find the escapees and couldn't be nicer about it. I know it wasn't their job, but they never failed to help. I purchased my first male Betta fantail here, whom I named "Bleu." As I went up to the cashier with my new pet, she made sure I had all the essentials for my new fish. "Bleu" the betta lived over a year. This is a great store. Fully stocked shelves always. It is a little out of my way but I just prefer this Petco! read more

Since Mr. Bob died last week i've been lonely and needed company. I was in Freeport getting my blonde on so i stopped by here. They had the cutest baby kitties for adoption but since im not allowed them i went to the fish section. I found my new boy Bob 2.0 and he is home in his new tank and happy. The cashier had a really neat bird on his shoulder and was super nice. Parking is weird since you have to go down side street but whatever not like i had anything better to do. His name is Julius and he doesn't like to be groomed anywhere else. This is the best place to go, everyone is nice and operates on a highly sophisticated, highly educated level, that many other grooming salons and petco's do not. My little Julius baby loves the staff here, I used to go to the Petco in Hewlett and they made him pee and go poo poo on himself so they must be very nasty people. After a horrific experience at the Carle Place Petco I came to this one and was pleasantly surprised. The staff in the grooming department was so pleasant, very personable and such a warm group of people. My Yorkie is small and weighs only 3 lbs, was apprehensive with grooming probably from the treatment at Carle Place. He immediately was comfortable with the groomer Shana. She was nothing short of amazing. Even wanted to be creative and give him a Mohawk which I allowed. When I picked Bentley up - they advised me of his experience, gave me some recommendations on further grooming, offered to set up the next appointment, and how I felt about the services. Needless to say, Bentley look amazing his coat felt better than any of the appointments at Carle Place and he was so relaxed. The grooming sign says they're open till eight but every time I come after work at six they're not there to get my dogs nails clipped.. This time I went in the store looking for a particular biscuit I couldn't find. Circled the aisles for about five minutes couldn't find anybody that would help.. When my dog Peed out of frustration of not being able to get groomed and walking around the store looking for these biscuits.. Then an employee comes and asks me to grab paper towels and start cleaning.. It's a pet store I understand accidents happen but if you want the customers to clean it up the least you can do is have a mop..
