Couldn't get our little Jack Russell Jackie an appointment at our usual spot today, and I had noticed Luzy's as I was driving down Hempstead Avenue. I went in to check it out and it was clean and the people were super pleasant. Heard the services and they were able to squeeze Jackie in for this afternoon. She got a wash and groom (she had been getting a little stinky) and she came out happy and clean. The folks behind the counter were really nice, prices were less than what we had been paying elsewhere, and it was a job well done for Jackie. I will be making Luzy's my regular spot.

What I brought, what I asked for, what I got (with her eye damaged somehow and a vet visit needed)

The photograph posted speaks for itself. It shows what my poodle looked like when I brought her in, the photograph I showed them as a reference for a teddy cut, and how she was returned to me...looking like a meercat. They shaved her face hair off and injured her eye in the process. Not only did it cost me $70 for the worst haircut my dog has ever received but it will likely cause hundreds more in vet bills. I did a virtual vet visit with videos and photos of her and they advised me I have to bring her in to test whether or not her cornea is damaged. I am also currently walking around a dark house because her eye can't handle brightness.

I've been taking my dog to Luzy's Dapper Dog regularly, and I couldn't be happier with their service!!!!!! Giovanni is my dog's groomer, and he always does an amazing job. He's incredibly patient, caring, and truly understands how to make my dog feel comfortable. The staff is always friendly and professional, and I feel at ease every time I leave my dog there. My dog always comes out looking clean, perfectly groomed, and happy. Giovanni really pays attention to every detail and consistently delivers great results. I'm so happy with Luzy's Dapper Dog! Giovanni always gives Elvys the best cuts and does the best job at keeping him looking young again. (He's 16) A little input.. This place was worth the drive from Brooklyn and the wait. Giovanni did a wonderful job with my pom Marley and he was so helpful in letting me know how I could better brush Marley. Alex at the front was very nice and respectful. They also did a wonderful job bathing and cutting my dachshund Blujay. I will definitely be coming back with my little fur babies. read more

My little guys love coming here to get all pretty. Their prices are cheaper than what I used to pay in the city and I was looking for somewhere on the Island to take my pampered babies. I was recommended by a neighbor and an online group that brought their dogs here. Easy location to get to and I never have a problem getting parked in front either. The groomers always say how good my little guys are and how cute they are. They love the affection they get here and always come out groomed the way I want. I come here regularly now and this has become my go-to grooming spot. They take cash or card; whichever is your preference. Most groomers only do cash so I was surprised they take cards. P.S this review is based on two very small breed dogs that are under 7lbs. I don't know if they groom large breed dogs so I would call and find out. I had a 120lb dog a couple years ago and there were only two groomers who would groom him, even though he would just lay down or put his head on their shoulder and sleep while being groomed. He was such a gentle boy but some places just wouldn't groom such a large dog. read more

I was nervous at first because the reviews looked pretty negative. I have a wire fox terrier and they're extremely energetic and crazy..I was afraid he was gonna come out ugly! However the lady is extremely nice, and he came out so adorable. They listen to what I wanted to keep about my dog, like his fluffy face and tail. The price is definitely worth it. Took my dog here for the first time and had a terrible experience. The second you walk in it smells like wet dog. Customer Service is moderate but when my dog came back home i noticed a cut on his belly which wasn't brought up. When i called back it was just a flurry of sorry's but nothing else. I was hoping for some more service as my dog was cut by them but just got told "the waiver said this" and the "waiver said that". The area wasn't matted but the longer hair was stuck together by urine. Easily could've been softened with water and a comb to make the cutting process easier. Another customer lost. read more

For all you pet owners looking for a good nail cutter during this pandemic this is the place. My dog hates getting her nails cut. I liked where I went but this place was better. The gentleman who cut my dogs nails was patient and very calming to my dog. She only barked and growled three times for all 4 paws. That is amazing for her. Not only did he cut her nails but he filed her nails and cleaned her ears for only ten dollars. I highly recommend this salon for pets. read more

if you want to sign off your dog to being tortured than i do recommend this place. They harm your pup and then don't take responsibility for it being you signed a form. I will never be brining my dog back. Owner is extremely unprofessional, he threatened to call to get my dog taken away because i took my dog to the grooming appointment with a few knotes, i have a goodlendoodle, if you know they are extremely hairy dogs. Extremely unprofessional behavior. read more

Called today to ask for a quote for a dog groom. Response was "we have an opening on Wednesday." I informed them that I wasn't trying to book anything yet, rather just get a quote for my dog. Again "we have an opening on Wednesday." I tried a third time instead asking for an estimate in case they didn't understand what I meant by "quote." Again "we have an opening on Wednesday." Hung up. I'm not trusting you with a member of my family if you cannot answer the most basic of questions. read more

Dapper Dog Is Great!! Today was the first time my 6 month old Pomeranian to get his haircut. I was so nervous because not only it was his first time, I didn't want to leave him..... But when I came back two hours later he was happy and relaxed, playing with the other dogs. They gave him a beautiful haircut, he looks so good and smells amazing. I can't stop looking at him!! Excellent scissor work! Excellent service! They did such an amazing job and everyone there is so nice. I can tell they love what they do and how much they love dogs. I highly recommend them!!!! Sadly, I think it is time to find a new place for my dog. I have a maltese/dachshund mix and they recently charged me $60 (informed me at time of payment that the price went up $5) for barely a cut. She was supposed to get a puppy cut which is normally short body with a fluffy head. She came out looking the same as when she went in. Barely a trim. I was so disappointed. I've also been going to Luzy's for a year and they never remember me or my dog. They can never find my information in the system so I always have to explain what I like. She's also kept in the cage for 3 hours while waiting for her turn and she hates it. She's never been injured during a cut but I would rather find a place that's a bit more organized with their scheduling and has better customer service. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would, I have brought my dogs here before and have never had any issues, I bring them in today for a haircut and explained exactly how I wanted their hair and even showed a picture for my mini golden doodle, they butchered both of my dogs haircut and looks nothing how I've explained it nor the picture I have showed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME they clearly do not listen NOR CARE go spend your money else where. Front desk felt the need to only say thank you for your feedback as to me explaining how unhappy I am about their haircut instead of trying to fix the problem they created read more

I took my dog there for grooming last Thursday and my dog was 100%fine After she left Dapper Dog she was limping and had a razor cut On her butt and it was inflamed. She had to go to The Vet I have to put neosporin on it n had to be put on pain meds. Not only would the owners of Dapper Dog not take any responsibility for Injuring my dog they were so Nasty and belittling to me and then hung up on me. I am shocked and devastated what happened to my dog and the way I was treated at Dapper Dog. read more

I took my Australian Shepherd there today for his first grooming and everything was amazing! I was nervous because not only was it his first time but I've had bad experiences with groomers not listening to what I wanted before. Reilly was scared when I dropped him off and was trying to leave with me.. But when I came back two and a half hours later, he seemed so relaxed & comfortable! And he looked amazing! This place is awesome !!!! I have a bichon and I brought him in he was quite matted They gave him a beautiful haircut he looked like a stuffed animal/ show dog when they were finished with him I have never seen him look so good! Also my dog has sensitive skin and any other time he has been groomed he would have sore spots for days ( my reason for not having him groomed too often) well he had no sore spots he was happy and so was I also everyone there is so nice you can tell they love animals and really take care and pride in their work ! I have a shih tzu who has had a very well maintained long haircut (her breed standard) for 3 years. But I have been getting tired. It is very hard to maintain. So I went to this grooming salon in hopes that they could help me with her fur. I wanted it short but didn't know what style I wanted. I only had an idea. I showed them photos. They told me the good and the bad of what I was looking at. They explained everything very well and I trusted them. So I left not knowing how she would look when it was done... When I went to pick her up... OMG! She looked cute! I didn't know what I wanted but they sure did! I am so happy! The scissor work is a little rough and uneven in some spots but fur grows. Overall she looks good and I could tell they loved their business and the animals. read more

I was very impressed with the job they did, first let me tell you that my dog has never look so well groomed. I took my dog to the petco in Oceanside, they did a terrible job, the groomer didn't even finished my dog and asked us to come back the following day, she complained that the dog would not stayed? I would assume that if dog grooming is her real job the she would know how to handle such issues. I would highly recommend this place, they know their job very well and will go above and beyond to make your dog beautiful. read more

I've been meaning to write a review about this business some time now. The service provided is great. When I brought my Yorkie here I was surprised by how knowledgable the groomer was regarding hair cut styles for Yorkies. The place is tidy. When I arrived to pick up my dog. He was calm in his environment and comfortable in the groomers hands (first visit). My baby was clean and neat. His haircut was beautiful. I received many compliments for his new haircut. I recently took my dog to Just Pawfection in Lynbrook for a grooming session, and unfortunately,…read morethe experience was disappointing. I specifically requested that my dog's hair be trimmed, but not cut too short. The groomer informed me that my dog's hair was matted,it WASNT,which I later learned is a way for them to charge an extra fee...yes I did sign a disclaimer in case of nicks and asked him why,I've never had to before w/my current dog or the one before...told me not to worry it's just a way of protecting themselves...his appointment was at 10:30...I called at 3:30 to check on him..he wasn't ready....went at 4:30...STILL not ready...ask the owner what's taking so long...said it takes time to cut because he was so matted .... Im still confused about him saying he's matted because I take my dog to get groomed every month. I waited outside and finally around 515. He told me that he was ready. I had to stare at my dog for a while because he was unrecognizable AND a big red flag was they didn't even charge me the matte fee..when I finally got him on to examine him. I see that he was nicked when his eye and this is what probably took so long they probably had to stop the bleeding... my dog is a calm dog, but he seems unusually lethargic unlike the other times he's been to this groomer which leads me to believe they could have given him something.... Long story short don't take your pet here!!!

It's not the small price increase as we can understand that, it's that they no longer provide de-mating service in case it's needed. So it's now become a wash, trim, and bandana for more money and less work. After using them for a year and being very pleased, we might as well go to a standard wash, trim, nails place for 1/3 of their charges. Sorry that we had to part company in this matter but now for $120-130 every two months vs $45 there is too much of a disparity in fees. I see that the owner states that we cancelled twice .... That's different and a new tactic since you set the schedules and cancelled on us. You didn't set our next appointment during the last visit and that was months ago! We no longer will be using your services and don't appreciate the changing story. YOU stated to me that you no longer offer departing service so I don't get your reply, and it just confirms more that we will no longer use your service.

We've taken our mini poodle Atlas to many grooming places and they usually shave him down due to…read morehis curly coat. He usually comes out looking like a completely different dog so I'm always hesitant to get his hair cut. After 4 months, he was overdue for a haircut so I gave Groomingbells a call to see if they could take in a last minute appointment. They happily did and we met with Christian who spent about 10 minutes with us explaining the best options for our pup. He said he would try to not shave him down, but sometimes due to the matting and the pain it could cause the dog, it's not always possible. We handed Atlas off and told him to do the best he could. Christian took him in and told us he'd be ready in about 2-3 hours. We came back and I was amazed at the puppy cut Christian was able to do! Atlas looked absolutely amazing! Christian said he was a good boy, and other than being a little nervous, he did very well. I appreciated the update and the time Christian took with my pup. I will be back and using Groomingbells for Atlas's future haircuts. I definitely recommend them!

I'm 2022 that seems a little challenging, but worth the trouble for my furry broke little best friend I am looking forward to trying them again. These people are personable and seem to genuinely like dogs, not like the staff at PetSmart grooming.

We used this service twice, and both times, after picking up a dog, he was scratching himself quite a lot, which led us to believe that the shampoo used was not appropriate for him. We forgot to mention this to the owner of the shop last time, and ended up with the same story/issue. We've taken him to the vet to see if he has any allergies and requires meds, a vet confirmed that he has no genetic problems, and we need to ask his grooming place to use a different shampoo. I just reached out to the owner over the text , since our appointment is tomorrow, and he got bent out of shape about this simple question, like I am asking him to invent a new formula. He said he is cancelling my appointment as he does not have time to deal with the shampoo issues. When I asked not to cancel anything, just let me know if a different shampoo can be used, he said that he believes it is not a shampoo(I guess he knows more than a Vet) and hung up the phone on me. IT IS BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNACCEPTABLE AND NON CUSTOMER CENTRIC.! I highly recommend to ignore this place and find a different place to give your money to...not worth an aggravation

I used to be a loyal customer of this dog groomer, but after my recent experience, I cannot recommend their services. I requested a simple puppy cut for my dog, as I've done in the past. However, this time, they cut her fur extremely short, despite her not being matted. Even worse, they cut her face too low, completely disregarding my specific instructions. When I called to address my concerns with the staff, I was met with extreme rudeness. The staff member dismissed my complaints, stating there was nothing more they could do and even rushed me off the phone, telling me he had back to his job. This lack of professionalism and unwillingness to address customer concerns is unacceptable. Overall, I am deeply disappointed with the poor quality of grooming and the disrespectful treatment from the staff. I will not be returning to this establishment and advise others to seek grooming services elsewhere. read more

Can't say enough good things about this grooming salon. My dog of 14 years was a client for nine years and they always did the most amazing job and treated my dog with the greatest care. They are clean , friendly And passionate about what they do. I recently rescued a chow chow after my dog passed away last year and this chowchow is very aloof, and suspicious of strangers. Giovanni did a wonderful job at approaching my new dog and creating a trusting relationship before grooming him. My dog looks like a million bucks. He did such an amazing job I can't believe it and worked on him for hours ! He put so much time and effort into creating the exact look I was hoping for. Thank you read more

Had my dog groomed here the other day. It couldn't have gone better. Their prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and most importantly they did a great job. The groomer took time to ask how I wanted my dog groomed. They also made sure that he was ready by the time I asked (which was not a very long period of time). When I got there my dog was in no hurry to leave. If he's happy there, I'm happy. I will certainly be returning. read more

This place was great. I took my dog there for the grooming services for the first time. They were awesome. Giovanni was very informative and knowledgeable. I was nervous because I had never taken my dog to be groomed but I was very happy with their work. His hair was long and some parts knotted and they made him look so awesome. I took my dog several times and it seems that she loves it, for her is a good experience I can tell because every time that I drop her she is happy when she is welcome by the staff. We have been customers of Dapper Dog since Luz took over. An excellent and reasonable service, with family members assisting Luz. Very friendly and dog-sensitive. Our 2 Bichons are happy campers when they get groomed, and always look beautiful. Highly recommended. read more
