On August 08, 2025, at 7:40 PM, my sister & I visited the Petco store #01205 located at 3548 S. Findley Ave. This is usually my favorite Petco location when I'm in town because it tends to be the cleanest, best-stocked, and has the friendliest associates in the area. Unfortunately, that was not the case on this particular day. The store was crowded with new Halloween items, a couple of costumes, toys, & Various items strewn across bins and tables, & appeared so overstocked you almost did not feel comfortable shopping it for fear you would cause a domino effect if you knocked anything over. Creating an environment that did not give a good impression to customers or visitors with pets. Upon entering, we noticed a woman at the register who seemed unhappy to be there and was on her phone. I miss the days when employees would leave their phones in their lockers or bags at work. It would be nice to bring back customer service and to have staff engaged in their jobs while being paid by the company again. During our visit, my sister wanted a few items price-checked due to multiple sales going on, so we could ensure we had the correct products. She was also looking for bulk biscuits to make thank-you treats for our friends' dogs to go in their baskets of goodies we got them. However, we were disappointed to discover that many of the cute, new cookies were filled with artificial chemical dyes. As a certified pet nutritionist, I wouldn't purchase those for my pets or for others' pets. Fortunately, we found some cute and tasty dye-free treats in the bulk section. As I helped my sister hold the bag open while scooping, I noticed that the biscuit dust in the scoop seemed to be moving. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was crawling with ants that had emerged from the disturbed pile of dog cookie crumbs. I informed the woman at the register, whose name I didn't catch as it wasn't displayed. She responded, "Eeww, that's gross," and then specifically asked if it was the bacon ducks, suggesting that we weren't the first to report this issue. Meanwhile, a man named Josh, whom I assume was her manager, was on his phone and appeared indifferent to the situation. Neither employee seemed embarrassed that a customer had just encountered such an issue. No one came over to address the problem, offer me a fresh batch of cookies, clean up the ants, or even show any concern. It's disheartening to see great companies that want to bring customers back struggling with employees who lack basic customer service, people skills, and social skills. These are the qualities I look for in employees because they reflect what I want others to expect from me in any job I hold. Despite this unfortunate experience with two associates, I still don't want to stop shopping at Petco. I love the unique pet apparel, products, and brands they carry. However, this particular trip was disappointing. I hope they improve in the future. I did manage to buy some outdoor toys like a dog tent and a splash pad, as well as some great toys that our dogs really love. So, while the products in the store were good, the experience was marred by the incidents involving the two associates, Josh and the woman working that evening. read more

out of the 2 Petcos in Boise, this one is my favorite! the employees are always super nice and helpful, they truly do their best to care for the animals in-store and to answer all your questions! there's also always good deals in the clearance and in the regular aisles :) read more

There is an old woman here that does NOT like young children. I was astonished when she had the audacity to discipline my 3 year old in a nasty tone in front of me... for playing with a small rubber ball! Not family friendly, won't be coming here anymore. Really disappointed. read more

Brought in my little dachshund/lab mix today to get her nails trimmed. She has gotten this done at this location before with no issues, but today was awful! The man who trimmed her nails greeted me by complaining about traffic and how busy they were today. He took her leash and walked her back to the small grooming room. He did not stop to introduce himself to her, allow her to smell him, or anything to ease her nerves. She was visibly afraid to go back there, shaking and with her tail and ears both down. He picks her up onto the table and clips her collar onto their holding leash on the table and gets right to work. I'm watching her the whole time through the glass. He trims all of her nails and then gets to her front left paw and cut too short into her quick. She started to bleed so much so that it dripped onto his hands. She completely freaked out and flung herself around trying to get away. She hung herself by the collar, hanging off of the table and then slipped out of her collar and ran to the other side of the room where the door was. She was terrified. He put a cream over the nail that was bleeding and told me that he could not finish because she freaked out. Her nails are not cut properly and not filed/buffed. I was still charged the full amount for this service and I regret tipping him. The service was terrible and he hurt my dog. She was so afraid that when I received her back from him, she peed on the floor, which she has never done before. Very upset about Petco's treatment of my dog today and I will not be back. She has been licking and guarding her injured paw ever since this happened this morning. read more

Because of my past experience with Petco in Nampa I have avoided this place. I have been very particular of where I take my dogs for their needs. This past year this Petco has changed my mind. I was having a hard time finding someone who could do Bonnie's nails on my day off. I normally take her to Broadway Vet, but they have been booked. So reluctantly, I took her to Petco. As soon as I stepped through the door they took Bonnie in with open arms. That was the first thing that made me happy. The next thing that made me happy was that they were done quickly with NO ISSUES! This made me very happy because this means that Bonnie's training is paying off! There was another dog in there and Bonnie behaved herself. The lady who did her nails handles my reactive dog very well. She did her nails a second time and she does such a good job. I also like seeing what kind of stuff they have in the store. There is a large variety of cool leashes and collars. They also have those LED collars. They also have quite a few jackets, rain coats, and sweaters for your dog. I have have purchased a rain coat for Bonnie that looks really cool, but I do not use it very often because it has to be zipped up. Don't know how I feel about that. I like this Petco and recommend them for nails. read more

Ordered same day delivery and the workers not only picked the wrong dog cot but also the wrong brand, color, and dropped it off at 4 pm. Which was fine until I realized when I showed up at the Petco to trade it out that they close at 4 PM because they're so short staffed and don't have any employees that want to work in this crappy environment. The only reason I did same day delivery was because I do not have my own car right now so I cannot go to the store meaning I had to use my neighbors car to stop by the Petco just find out that it was closed. Person would be able to read what I purchased. read more

I made an appointment in person for two weeks out. I explained that I wanted a light trim on my long haired dachshund and that I wanted to retain her fringe but needed her trimmed out under her front legs, her chest, and most importantly I wanted her paw pads trimmed out , her feet trimmed and her nails cut. The girl who scheduled my appt said they were very familiar with long haired dachshund and said it was called a body line cut. When I showed up for the appointment the girl who greeted me could not find my appointment. I explained that I had done it in person and the girl who scheduled the appointment told me she was moving away. The girl stated this was not the first time they had issues with the girls work. She was irritated but said it turned out they had sn opening where my appointment was supposed to be so they could take my dog. I explained at great length exactly what I had discussed with the other girl. I reiterated I just wanted her cut under the front legs where she tends to form knots, and most importantly I wanted her paw pads cleaned out, her feet cut and her nails cut. When we picked our dog up the long hair on her butt had been chopped bluntly , her feet were cut poorly (like a 5 year old had cut her hair) , her nails were not trimmed at all and her paw pads had not been trimmed out and yet we were charged over $50 . Lesson learned - I'll never take my dog there again. From the first visit when I made the appointment it was like I was an imposition to them. It's like they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to find anyone to work there. Actually the entire staff at this location act like they hate their lives. read more

Went in for the rubber boots cause my dog had surgery on his paw so hoping it would be easier to stretch over his bandages to keep dry rather than the regular boots we have to force a bit to put on. Needed medium which wasn't on the rack so asked the guy working if they had anymore by chance. He replied back with "no. what we have on the shelf is what we have" in a tone that felt as if I asked him to do a really annoying task like walk in the back and recheck after already doing it. So went to my car, ordered the size I needed to be ready in an hour and they ended up having it! Ironically when I came back inside to grab the order they had a whole new display in the front FULL of the product I was getting. So it may have been out when I was in originally, I just really didn't appreciate the tone after the week we've been having. read more

Went to have my dog groomed today. I was the first one there at 9 am. The lady at the counter began to take my information and then stopped to answer 3 phones calls and make appointments with those people and then got back to me when the phone quit ringing. Next when I picked the dog up she looked very choppy. Hair was long and short not smooth. Now checking out... took 10 more minutes. There was one lady in front of me trying to get a credit or refund and it was taking quit a long time. No other cashiers and the line continued to grow with no help and a few sorry's. I won't be back. They obviously know nothing about treating customer correctly and the grooming was terrible. read more

Booked a dog grooming well in advance for 10:00am on a Sunday morning. We dropped off the dog before 10 and were told that due to only 2 groomers that day it would take 3 to 3 and half hours...no problem. W e returned 3 and half hours later 1:30pm and they advised us that they had not even started our dog due to walk-ins and only 2 groomers onsite. We did not understand this terrible and nonsensical reason, but chose to do some shopping in the area and wait. An hour later our dog was done...nothing special, a hurried cut and we are not even sure if he has bathed. This was our first time trying PETCO (Findley St location) and we will not be returning....hey we gave them a shot, but terrible service. read more

Every time I come here for aquatics I have to wait upwards of 15 minutes AFTER GOING TO THE FRONT and asking directly for assistance.

Cynthia D Sorry to say very disappointed with the grooming of our dog. The groomer took the liberty of cutting our dogs coat. He is a sheltie but you would never know it by the way he was groomed. She was told to groom like she did the previous time. She had learned a new technique and tried it on him without permission. (Now, this is not the first time this has happened.) Two years ago, another groomer there did the same thing. I did not go back for over a year. Decided to give it another try.My advice if you have a breed that has a certain look you want to maintain go somewhere else. These groomers take to much liberty. $56.00. read more

I went to this Petco because my local store was closed. What a mistake! I had to get birdseed and unfortunately, I walked by the tiny, sad, cruel bird enclosure and wham-o: I was sucked in by a poor little conure who was all by himself. Even though Petco was charging an exorbitant amount for the little guy, and it's NEVER a good idea to buy birds from these chain pet stores because they often source their birds from factory breeders , I felt so incredibly bad for him that I took him home. The awful part is the fact that the store employee flat-out LIED to me when I asked if the bird had been hand-fed/was used to people and hands. She said he was, and she handed me a certificate saying the bird had tested negative for two common parrot diseases. Unfortunately, this bird is absolutely terrified of people and hands; he has NOT been hand-fed and definitely is NOT hand tame. The poor little guy just cowered in his cage for the first week I had him, though he's finally started coming out of his shell a bit, but still, there is absolutely no way he was hand fed or hand tamed. So, moral of the story is: never purchase a bird from Petco or any other chain pet store! They treat their animals poorly, are not honest about the animals, and they charge way too much for birds that you can get off of Craigslist or from your locally owned parrot specialty store for half the price and where you can interact with the birds and the breeder/store owner is honest and can ensure/show you that the bird is hand tamed/hand fed. The chain Petco store workers just don't know anything about birds at all (the Petco worker also told me that birds can change sex, which is biologically impossible and also a lie). It's just incredibly sad and lazy to not hand tame birds, as un-tamed birds live their lives in fear of people and hands and thus, are often miserable, cage-bound creatures who do not get to live quality lives. Thankfully my new little conure is living in an open indoor aviary and thus, he is not in a cage, where he interacts with his sun conure buddy who is actually hand tame. I will give him a good life, but I feel so sorry for all the other birds sold by Petco that are not hand tame and thus, live very sad, scared lives stuck in cages. read more

Terrible grooming. Took my yorkie/Maltese mix here. Paid over $50 so she could be washed, groomed, nail clipped, have a blueberry facial (recommended because she had eye goo). When I picked her up, I had to get eye goo off her fur on both eyes. Haircut is extremely uneven and very patchy. Not sure what I paid for. Will not return here for grooming again. read more

After 13 years going here I am done because of the management at the federal way location in Boise idaho, I had bought some African cichlids and had problems with my water after getting the all clear and including spending a extra $10 bucks on a additive that I have never had to use in the 20 years of keeping aquariums, they told me I could not get the fish exchanged. Because of the Manger Nicole, and Kip I will not be going back to a petco, it's very frustrating since I've spent so much money with this company including a 55 gallon tank 30 gallon tank a 40 gallon tank all the filtration I've spent thousands of dollars at this location and they treat me like this over $12 fish thanks guys Update 2/25/16. Looking forward to a rafting trip with our dogs. We called ahead for a certain size life vest and was told they had them. Drove out of our way to pick it up only to find they never had them. Bought a pet fountain at a Petco in California, moved to Boise and lost all receipts/ packaging in the move. Brought it back to this Petco when it stopped working and manager Kim was super helpful and got me a replacement without even having a receipt. Great service, will be coming back! read more
