There's 2 girls at the register and I can't quite remember names but they are awesome and the guy in the fish department always looks out for the fish and gives awesome advice! Recently I had a full groom appointment for my senior rescue dog...The floors were so slippery...he splayed out...Immediately I was told by the female manager they "couldn't groom him, because he can't stand up" even though he walked the length of the store just fine...If she had been courteous, I wouldn't have left my cart with over $100.00 worth of food and toys...Lost a customer...nor will I ever recommend to anyone. read more

I came here yesterday after hitting up Best Value Wine & Liquors. I wanted to get some pet treats for my friend's cat. I found a few great things but I couldn't find any catnip. I don't have any pets so I was unsure of what to get. I found the nice employee who was up front and asked her for help. She said they were short staffed and someone would be coming in about 10 minutes but she could quickly help me. They were out of catnip where she said it was supposed to be but she found some near an endcap at the end of the aisle. I was really happy for her help and found some great items. I let another guy in front of me, who was patiently waiting for the employee to come back up front. He said I could skip him but I insisted. When it was my turn, she cashed me out quickly and happily. I'm happy with my experience here. read more

This store was a HUGE disappointment. We were looking for a specific cat food to meet the needs of our 2 mature cats. Am internet search found that Petco was the only store that, according to their website, had it in stock. We made the long drive to the store. Access is difficult because of the shared drive with OfficeMax and Wegmans. It was a slow day so parking was adequate. On a busy day probably not. The store itself was clean and bright. Stocked shelves showed that this is mainly a store for dogs. Cat supplies were very limited and the few aisles of them were tucked away in a small corner. The final disappointment came in the cat aisles. Despite the website, it turns out that they didn't have the item in stock. Staff was not helpful. Overall, a wasted and very disappointing trip. This review is based solely on their carrying my brands of cat food. My "herd" of six are picky eaters, and the brands I've found that suit them are not commonly stocked elsewhere. Although I normally order from Chewy, during the pandemic some of the shipments were delayed, so I was glad I had Petco to fall back on. very terrible experience today with the trainer Trisha at orchard park rd location. She declined training my dog without even meeting him. Just hearing him barking, she said "No. I can't train that dog" and sent us away without even explaining anything to us Or getting a manager for us. I have a 7 month old German shepherd, he is huge and obviously has a deep bark. She didn't even give him a chance, just decided off of his loud bark. Granted his bark sounds mean cause he obviously needs training and doesn't know how to act outside my home or know anyone in the store, but she didn't even want to let the dog meet her. Twice I have had horrible experiences with one of the employees, Shannon. I went to get a chain collar for my dog's advanced obedience class and she told me "you will hang your dog with that, you should just get a harness". I reported this issue to the staff but I ran into her again with a friend and her young puppy. The puppy playfully jumped up onto her and she remarked "I really hope you plan on taking him to training classes". Overall just a very unfriendly environment. read more

The customer service here is awful. There used to be nice people that worked here, but alas, no more. There is an older lady, Kim maybe her name was? Anyway... so the story goes that we came in to get two fish for one of my husbands aquariums and a hermit crab for my vivarium. We are both experienced with our respective tanks and the lady just straight up refused to sell us what we wanted. She asked us a bunch of questions (understandably, they do not want the animals going home with dummies) but then ignored our answers and reassurance that we've got years of experience. I was told my crested gecko would attack a hermit crab! That's funny, because I've had one living in the tank with the gecko for about 3 years now together. I understand being cautious, but it is a business, but it is just plain dumb to not sell things at said business. Whatever. I won't be going here any longer. read more

The shopping center looks almost abandoned and I'm always a little surprised that Petco is still open every time I come here to shop. Petco is the dingy, smaller version of Pet Smart and every time I come here it's because I didn't want to drive all the way out to the Amelia location. Everything is overpriced, but you would expect that from a pet store. If Walmart had what you needed, you wouldn't have come here in the first place, right? The 2 star rating is because of the attitude I have encountered here on several occasions. It's as if customers are bothering them by walking into the store and DARING to want to purchase an item. They are cheaper than Pet Smart on a couple of items that I've compared, but sometimes I seriously wonder if the experience is worth a couple of bucks. read more

Always wonderful, experienced groomers. I have my cat groomed here, and they take wonderful care of him. I can't say that he enjoys it, but I have peace of mind knowing that he is in great hands, and he is always groomed perfectly, and his nails are trimmed to a decent length too. I highly recommend PETCO for grooming your pets. read more

I have always had a good experience in your store, which is one of the reasons why I choose to shop at petco versus other pet stores in the area. When I cashed out the other day, Shannon, the cashier I had, was very rude and snippy. I had my 4 month old puppy with me because I am trying to socialize him. Shannon very rudely stated that "she hopes I'm taking him to puppy classes." Which I am. For somebody who works in a pet store, I would have expected her to be more animal friendly. I took my 2 Jack-A-Poo's for a simple nail trim. I have taken them to be groomed several times before and have had no negative remarks. I've clipped their nails at home on occasion and have had a bit of resistance with Clyde but as long as I coaxed him through it and praised him he was okay. I watched the groomer clip both of their nails. Bonnie is calm and docile and couldn't care less if you twist her into a pretzel. I knew Clyde wouldn't be so easy. The groomer seemed almost annoyed and honestly forceful with Clyde. To the point I had to tell her to stop because he was freaking out, as I have NEVER seen him before. After that trip I have attempted to take Clyde to the groomer (a different and trusted groomer) multiple times. Key word 'attempted' as he is now uncontrollably neurotic when he even thinks someone will groom him and no groomer can even trim his nails now let alone cut his hair. This place literally scarred my dog and now I have to shell out crazy amounts of money to groom Clyde at the vet under sedation. I have even tried pet therapy for him. I used to make fun of pet owners who spent money on pet therapy. But now I understand, corporations like Petco only care about the bottom line. Not the innocent helpless lives that are in their care at their grooming facilities. read more

Wowsa - Gotta say, the animosity I sense directed at me from a Ms. Allie while training a new employee how to handle my exchange (that I drove all the way from Amherst for) was just beyond bizarre. "Make sure you check that prices match to make sure they are the same," after scanning the barcode on the item I was exchanging and my original receipt from two days ago... Cause ya know, not like the computer literally just indicated to you and this trainee that these were identical items! Yikes!! What horrible customer service - no thanks! read more

Poor communication on the groomers at this Petco. I have a maltipoo which they were not clear on how to groom him. They went ahead and groomed him to 1/4 of an inch then called me to see if it was okay. When I said no, she handed the phone to another groomer and she said they already did it. I told them to cut his nails and stop grooming him. I would take him somewhere else. They were also unable to cut my airedale's nails. Would not recommend. read more

Great store! I have been there off and on in the past; ( for my grand dogs) but this particular week it has been twice. The staff was very helpful when I had questions about a product and because of that I purchased. I then came back another day and asked if I purchased a large bag of food; would someone be so kind to place in my vehicle. I have a neck issue and cannot lift. The cashier cheerfully obliged. She asked a fellow co worker to get it and another employee who was leaving " jumped" in and offered to place it in my vehicle as she was leaving... really terrific of her. The staff knows nothing about Sheltie grooming. They don't know the difference between an undercoat and matted fur! was told our dog needed his rear legs shaved to remove the matted fur. We gave the OK for this. About a half hour later, they called and said they would need to shave him entirely to remove all the matted coat. We picked up the dog (rear legs already shaved) and took him to another groomer. The second groomer did a brush out and saved the rest of the coat. He looks strange with bald rear legs but it will grow back. Never again for Petco! One star because they did not charge. read more
