When we got our first Boston, I shopped everywhere for her. Because of this location, I only shop Petco and I prefer to even shop in person! Can you believe it? A Millenial not shopping online?! The entire grooming staff are friendly and so great to work with. We've taken our now 3 Boston Terriers to them for over a year and have nothing but great things to say about our experiences. Thank you, Matt, Matthias, Larry, & MJ for being so fkn awesome! Working retail isn't easy and humans can be terrible so kudos to you all for being exceptional. read more

We have been going to Perco in Camillus for our fish for years, when Alice worked there the tanks were always spotless and the fish healthy. Now the tanks are in deplorable condition including dead fish, management please take notice and correct the problem we are thinking of going elsewhere for or aquatic needs. read more

Pretty disappointed in the service that was not provided by grooming department today. I arrived at the store at approx 1:45 and requested a nail trim and buff for my dog. Groomer told me it would be an approx 20-30 min wait. That was okay, as I needed to shop for other supplies. One of the items needed was a soft muzzle for an upcoming trip. The sales staff was terrific and went out of their way to ensure my dog had a right fit. I then waited for my appointment for grooming. In the interim, sales staff came by and showed my dog lots of love. After an approx 20 min wait, the dog ahead of us was finished and we waited until that dog cleared the area before proceeding to the grooming services counter. When I approached, I was immediately told by grooming staff, that they couldn't help me, as they were taking an at least twenty minute lunch break. I told the staff member that I had patiently waited the 20 mins in the store I was originally told would be the wait time. To now throw this new time at me was simply unacceptable. They should have been upfront with me from the beginning and told me that it would be an at least a one hour wait. This was just a waste of my time, and not necessary. I walked out, and despite having used the grooming services on numerous occasions, there are other places I can and will go. read more

So that was me. Flipping out in the store at the Township 5 Camillus Vetco- not to be confused with "Petco". Vetco is just a satellite vet clinic inside of Petco. Every time I go to this store I have a terrible experience. I have been there approximately 5 times and each time I tell myself that I will not go back into that store. I keep making exceptions and today was one of them. It resulted in me causing a scene inside of the store in which I am not too terribly proud of. So here is what happened. On my morning walk with my pup I discovered an abandoned 10 week old kitten down the street from my house. A family had moved out and they had left the kitten behind. The kitten, a black and white short-haired male, had fleas and worms. I gave him a blue dish soap flea bath and I made the exception to take him to Vetco at Township 5 on Saturday to get dewormed. I made the exception because it was the weekend and I wanted him to see a vet as soon as possible for the deworming. Stacks on Velasko couldn't see him until Monday at 2:30 pm. I waited in line for about an hour. The line was relatively short. Two receptionists were doing intake forms. As I waited in line I took note of how these receptionists, one in particular, dealt with the challenged woman who was ahead of me. She clearly had disabilities and they were so rude and heartless to this unbecoming old woman. She had brought in a severely matted and neglected Pekingnese that she had acquired from a bad situation less than two weeks ago. The previous owners had kept the dog in a crate the whole time and that's why it was all neglected- she told me the whole story as we waited in line and I found her to be a well-meaning, but obviously challenged woman. This poor woman was coming to you, VETCO, to spend what limited dollars she obviously had to help this dog out and how you treated this woman- how you spoke to her- and she had a young 16 year old granddaughter and a young grandson with her- appalled me. The "wild-child hipster" looking vet even came out to berate this old woman about the condition of the dog not even knowing the whole situation. Sure. She was a frustrating woman to deal with- clearly challenged intellectually, mentally, financially. You challenged this woman's ability to pay and her clearly embarrassed grand kid had to step in and you sort of backed off and moved her along in the line. The care and concern of the dog, whose dreaded tail was wagging happily the whole time, were completely lost as the staff at VETCO (vet and receptionist) accused and attacked this woman over her dog as she is standing in line, willing to pay $ to help the dog. What. The. Faq. When I got to the counter I was preparing myself mentally how to deal with this receptionist- which is absurd in itself. I was thinking that you two were frustrated after dealing with that woman- I get it- I've worked customer service. But when you brought out your attitude with me- I wasn't having it. I felt sorry for the younger receptionist who had to work with you. She was just standing there trying to be nice while you were being a complete bitch. I immediately called you out on being rude when you tried your bullshit with me. Once I secured the kitten back in my vehicle I even came back into the store to call you "the fucking worst" and "unprofessional". Sometimes I wish I could have held back, been stronger, more mature maybe. But maybe assholes like you need to be called out more often. Just like that. In front of everyone. For the record, I have never, ever, done anything like that in my entire life. I hope I never have to again. Just don't take you pets to this Vetco inside of Petco. Please. Just don't. If you are concerned about $, it is actually cheaper to take them to Stacks for vaccines- I did it. Rabies you can get elsewhere at clinics free or low cost too. No need to fall for their low-cost clinic crap customer service scam. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED AT THE CAMILLUS PETCO. I have been twice and I never should have left my puppy the second time. The first time they barely did anything for $130. I wanted a cut with the longest blade as I had done in the past. She quickly became matted on her belly (which never happened before). I took her back and said they could shave her belly where the matting was since she was just fixed and was shaved on 1/2 of her belly anyway, but I wanted to keep her long. I did not want her entire body shaved. I said it 500 times. She is now unrecognizable and looks like a rat. Her entire body is about 1/4 of an inch. I am sick. read more

Don't purchase reptiles from Petco. We visited Petco and seen two Chinese Water Dragons in their enclosure huddled up together at the back of the cage, and we weren't even sure if they were alive at first. They were dark in color and not moving, and the humidity was only around 30% when, for that kind of reptile, it's supposed to be around 80 - 90%. I told someone at the pet store and they took them out and apparently went to give them a soak in water. The lizards didn't move much when they were picked up and looked lifeless. A couple of days later we came back to see if they were still there and there was only one lizard in the enclosure and he wasn't looking good still. That's when my husband and I decided to purchase, who we now call Eli, because we are big reptile lovers and couldn't bear seeing him in such horrible condition. He was very dark brown in color, cold, and dehydrated, and his tail looks like it was rotting off. We set his cage up with high humidity and made sure he ate, and days later he started shedding. I socked him for a while and started pulling the shed off, and that's when I noticed that the shed was very thick. There was at least 2 or 3 layers of shed stuck to him because the humidity wasn't high enough for him to shed. After I removed most of the shed you could see the beautiful green and blue under it, and he was looking so much better and has been a lot more active and eating well since we have provided him with the right husbandry. We took him to the vet not long after because his tail wasn't getting any better. We have had him on antibiotics for 3 weeks, but the tail is getting worse. The vet said that it might be necrotic. So now, after already spending almost $300 for the vet, we are now facing having to pay another $900-$1000 to get a bunch of tests done and to get his tail amputated before the necrosis spreads too far up his tail and causes more issues for the poor little guy. I called Petco to ask if they would help cover any of the costs considering he was ill when I purchased him and that it has been confirmed by a vet. I spoke to the manager and the manager was extremely rude and told me that they would only refund the cost of the animal and nothing else. I then started to tell him all of the things that is wrong with him and that I am now facing having to pay another $1000, and he rudely interrupted me saying that there was no way the vet would cost that much and said "we could argue for hours about what is wrong with him" . I then said "no, we don't have to argue because I can send you the vet evaluations right now stating what is wrong with him". He didn't say anything to that. In frustration and just complete disappointment, I hung up the phone. We also have brought a Bearded dragon from Petco, and when we got home we realized the very tip of his tail was broken and bent and that he was dehydrated. Lucky for the beardie, there was no infections or anything like that and it fell off naturally. He is now a very healthy bearded dragon, but as for Eli, he hasn't been so lucky. I recommend for people to get reptiles from a professional breeder who knows how to looks after reptiles. You will know that your reptile will be as healthy and happy as it can be, and you will get professional advice for the best care for the animal as well. read more

Larry was extremely helpful and generous during check in. Establishment was stocked well and clean. Great initial experience. Grooming, however, did not come close to meeting my expectations. After a 2 hour wait, I wrongly assumed my dog would be in tip top shape. After a 30 minute commute home I observed a ton of dog hair on my black shirt. Checked my dog more thoroughly to observe her skin scaly and her coat still with dander. This was never the case at other establishments as my dog would be returned with a fluffy clean coat and moisturized skin. Called to speak with the store manager (Katherine I think) about my discontent with services that were rendered. Transferred to the grooming manager, Lawrence, who expressed no interest or remorse for the poor grooming service he provided. Lawrence simply offered a refund without attempting to inquire what would actually benefit me as a customer. A refund isn't always the best solution but I digress for now on that matter. After speaking back with the store manager regarding having my dog washed to standards, I was told, "he may not want to wash the dog again because he works on commission .... If you're not happy with us, feel free to go somewhere else." As Vital Care member I was outraged at her response. I'm rather confident there is another groomer that could've provided services. However, that wasn't an option considered by the store manager. It's very apparent management, both grooming and retail, is extremely incompetent on resolving customer service matters. Promote Larry immediately as the other 2 will be best suited for Walmart where customer service is expected to be terrible and a refund is the solution to all customer issues. read more

Very disappointed with the service. We took our pet to their vaccine clinic and upon arrival the representative said "you're all checked in" and asked about my dogs rabies shot. They took our very nervous dog into the room without us, to give him his shots. About an hour later we get an email of the service and he WAS NOT given his shots.... I called customer service and was told "sorry, maybe they can help you out with the price, next time." i asked to speak to a manager and was told he is busy and should be able to call me back in 2 days. I did get to talk with the manager who tried to put it on us, saying did we ask specifically for the shots needed, well it is a vaccine clinic, we were told we were all set after they reviewed our dogs rabies shot... The manager said nothing he could do but he would not the account... Very poor customer service, disorganized and no review of the LACK of disservice provided to my dog... Would not recommend. Store offers great services by an excellent staff. 1) grooming - Erin has taken care of both my dogs and they both need a little extra attention. My 10 old boxer has arthritis so giving a bath at home in the tub is not a good idea. Erin took great care of her. My 1 year old rescue has anxiety issues when I leave,Erin gave her the extra TLC needed!!! Great job 2) Dog training - Jake is excellent. My 1 year old has completed Obedience Training 1 and has just started Obedience Training 2. Jake is a very positive teacher, excellent with dogs and owners!! 3) The entire staff is very helpful and obviously loves animals. This store is a great addition to the Camillus area! read more

Absolutely LOVE Petco Grooming! Erin is amazing! My dogs have been going to her for years and when she moved out to open the Camillus store, we had to move with her! My bernese (a.k.a. "my princess") loves Erin to death!!! The personalized attention that she gets from Erin and the whole staff is the reason why this is the ONLY pet store we go to!!! The store itself is huge, great selection, and competitive pricing. But grooming is the main reason why I love this store so much. I HIGHLY recommend it to all my friends!! read more

Lawrence B did a fantastic job! I brought in two "off the wall" labs at the same time. He took this all in stride, and was calm and patient. The deshedding treatment was so effective. I noticed a major improvement in the fur around the house. One of my labs has quick growing nails. He was able to get those under control. I will definitely take my labs back for this service again! read more

The Hiring manager At the camillus petco (i believe her name was samantha but not positive, don't want to pay attention to lowlife pricks) should not be the manager. The staff there are very sweet people but she is very unprofessional in her job and is bad with communication. She has "ummm" every other sentence and is full of herself, ask for her and you'll just a "yea that's me" in a rude voice. She doesn't know how to properly take care of animals and has no knowledge in reptiles and has an attitude about it when shes corrected. The treatment of their reptiles there infuriates me and i feel bad for any staff that works there. I think she should get demoted from manager and someone who cares about customers and has knowledge in all animals/reptiles should be the head. Not to mention i asked her for help and she just walked away from me and said shes busy and to ask someone else. If you are a manager of a place you should be able to take constructive criticism and know how to speak clearly to customers. Lose the attitude and educate yourself, i don't want to step foot back at that place just from her being a horrific manager. Step up your Standards petco, don't hire just anybody. read more

This review is related to their grooming. This was by far my worst grooming experience. This morning I called the in DeWitt trying to make an appointment with a specific groomer. Well, the shuffle their groomers around (not good for dogs that have anxiety and need consistent routines but what does Petco care) and my groomer was at another location 20-25 minutes away. It's frustrating because I can't drop her off then come all the way home to turn around and go back again. And yet I still wanted my dog to be seen by the same groomer so I called the Camillus location to make an app. My dog is 25 lbs and a terrier mix. Super easy to groom her... just wash and dry. I am always charged 25 dollars and I asked about cost when making the appointment and it was confirmed. So I drive all the way there and come to find out the groomer I drove there for wasn't going to bathe her, someone else was! Then this woman proceeded to tell me there was a price increase and the cost would actually be 30$. But I just called!!! Okay..... trying to just "let it be"..... I come back to pick my dog up and was charged 38$!!!! They're like well you signed the form and rudely watch to fetch it to shove in my face. In small writing the price was included on the form. I didn't see this as when I was trying to read it the groomer I didn't want was telling me that their prices increased and it would be 30$. You cannot read and listen at the same time. And to top it all off before I picked up my dog I overheard the groomer tell a woman he popped her dogs hip out of place!!! WOW. read more

Not surprised this store went out of business here before. Customer service is horrible. Bought an item, paid by check, went home....wrong size. Purchased one on line that stated it was available in this store. Paid ...then got an email saying they'd "email" when available for pick up. Called and they said they just hadn't pulled it yet. Got no email. Went down to return the smaller one and pick up the newly purchased one. First item was paid for by check. They hadn't even put the check through but said they had to wait for it to clear. OK ...I understand that. Asked if they could mail my refund. No ...had to wait for the manager to answer my questions. Wait wait wait. Ten minutes later ........she finally came up. Note ...there wasn't anyone else in the store. She said sorry .. can't mail a refund. I need to come back AGAIN in a week to 10 days for a refund. Asked if she could mail it as that's my experience with other stores when waiting for a check to clear. Nope ..can't do that. Ask if she can just return the check seeing as she has the check and the product. Nope ...come back in a week. Asked if I can get a store credit. Nope ...come back in a week. Ask if I can leave the product (pet carrier) there and just come back for my refund. Nope ....can't do that either. Now I know why no one was in that store. I'll go back in a week to get my money ...but never again. The manager could use a training course. read more
