I was 4 minutes late for my dog's grooming appointment. Then, they told me to wait outside the door so another owner could pick up her German Shepherd, who was all over the place. I waited for 5 minutes so the other owner could get control of her dog. When it was my turn, they said I was late for my appointment and that they could not take my dog because they were overbooked and did not have time to groom my dog! I told the two girls, the receptionist and the groomer, that she was still grooming the dog before my dog and that they made me wait. She stated she did not have time for my dog. I just left. Highly recommend avoiding this Petco. Went in tonight to buy 2-3 guppies as my son had bought a really nice tank with a filtration system and prepped the water so the the temperature and ph were stable. The employee asked how big the tank was and we told her 4 gallons, and she said we could only get a Beta. I told her that was ok we had done our research and we wanted guppies to which she told me she would not sell me them for the "welfare" of the fish (even though they had a bunch of dead guppies floating around the tank) and she asked no other questions in regards to how many fish we wanted or any other details about our tank! I told her we were fine if they couldn't offer us the standard petco a warrant on the fish, and she still refused to help or sell us any fish! read more

I like the grooming at the Petco Cheyenne location in Colorado Springs. They take good care of my animal. However, I find it crazy that the person grooming has to stop to answer the many phone calls. My dog was attacked there by another dog and they gave my phone number to the owner of the dog who attacked my dog. When I called to express my concerns to the local manager, they declined to let me speak to the district manager, stating that they "could handle it locally", yet never called me back to follow up, despite my request for follow up. I then had the attacker calling my personal phone. Why you would ever give an attacker the victims personal information without my consent or knowledge?! Petco had this information as I was taking dog training classes there. When I called, because they never reached out to make sure my dog was ok, I asked if they could let me know if the dog (who was coming from the vet clinic) was there for a checkup or if they were ill. They told me they could not disclose that information. I'm unclear why they were not able to release the dog's health information, yet their business protocol involved giving my personal phone number out without my consent or knowledge?! Didn't know aggressive dogs had more rights than customers?! read more

Here's the interaction I had after only finding regular goldfish in their goldfish tanks (okay, there was one ugly sick looking black moor and a some little speckled ones) Excuse me, could you tell me when you'll be getting in some more goldfish? Just so I could see a better selection? Maybe Wednesday or Thursday. Okay, thank you. But what size tank do you have? It's a 20 gallon. Well you can only have one fish. Okay... I brought my pup in to get a nail trim and pick up food and treats. The girls in the grooming salon were friendly and helpful. My dogs rabies vaccine on file was expired but they were nice enough to call my vet and ensure he was up to date without me asking them to. My dog gets anxiety getting his nails trimmed but the girls helped him to be calm and comforted him, helping the process go smoother and fast. Not bad for $10 + tip. I don't even know where to start. First and foremost this place is a ripoff. Their prices are so high I can't imagine anyone wanting to take their pet to this vet. My dog had a simple eye infection and I couldn't get into my regular vet so I called to see if they could help. I was able to get Shadow in but the vet said that the cost would be about $185. She said that they had to do an eye stain and wouldn't treat him without it. I asked if that would be the full price and she said that it could be more if they had to give him eye drops with steroids because his eye was scratched. I asked if we could forgo the eye stain and just do the drops with steroids and of course it was no. I just couldn't imagine that this was so much money so I declined the service went to my car and called another vet right around the corner. He told me to bring Shadow over. His exam AND the meds were only $77. It has been 24 hours and my puppy is feeling great with eyes that are back to normal. We will treat him with the drops for the next week and buy some new dog toys for him with the money we saved. PETCO VET'S ARE A RIP OFF DON' T USE THIS CLINIC! One last piece of info. PETCO vets will not allow you to go to the exam room with your pet. If you have a dog that is wary of strangers, it can be very unsettling for them. JUST SAY NO TO PETCO! read more

I had to return an online order and this was the most convenient location. Needless to say I will never return. A customer was hanging around the registers, not wearing a mask, apparently in neither line. I got in line. When I started to walk up the woman came up to my face (did not social distance) and said she was first. I said she wasn't in line but she pushed past me anyway. When I said that not only was it rude to push in front of me when she wasn't in a line (she tried to tell me she was in both lines) but also doing so without a mask was incredibly rude - the cashier tried to SHUSH ME and tell me to "calm down". This piece of human trash then proceeded to threaten to beat me up. Cashier does nothing and keeps ringing her up. Cashier then tells another employee she has to get out fast cuz she's about to hit overtime. So, she lets a threat of physical assault slide because of overtime. Great job, guys. At the very least the new guy who ACTUALLY helped me with the return was polite and respectful. I hope he gets some props for that. read more

And it should also be on the pals rewards card record. The store manager said he couldn't give me a refund but could give me store credit. I said I'd have to talk to my husband and I would be back later. Well I came back a few days later (I work over 40 hrs a week so couldn't do it any sooner). The manager then declined. Saying he couldn't do anything without a receipt. He wouldn't even attempt to check the card I used for the initial purchase. I will never use any Petco ever again. Where we usually go, crickets are kept in back here there in the front. We went up to order 24 medium crickets, and the cashier disappeared to quote unquote see if we have them. Comes back to charge us for them and then goes back to get them. Where is the logic? It was just a waste of my time and her time. She comes back with 24 medium crickets. Glad she can count, but it would be better if three of them weren't dead dried carcasses of crickets. So we got twenty one crickets. Now I understand that crickets die, but the dead crickets were dried out. Took my wife to PETCO last night to get some Flea & Tick treatment for her three little dogs. I knew things were going to end badly when she picked up the treatment that she has been getting for years was not the price she normally pays. As I am a soldier she asks if this store give a military discount and the attendant that was helping her says no! Next, my wife tries to use her rewards and this too fails! At this point my wife is utter disbelief and extremely upset. She then tries to call the corporate office and this too fails!! I am sadly disappointed with the outcome of this situation not to mention we're in a military town. PETCO do the right thing, step up and fix this issue. I recently purchased a dog bed from this Petco in the wrong size because they didn't have the right size at the time. However, I was contacted by Petco on the phone to complete a survey about my experience. Upon completing the survey, the assistant manager of this store personally called me and asked me to come in to "make things right." Boy oh boy did he go above and beyond making it right!! The staff at this location has consistently been incredibly helpful, cheerful, and awesome with everything concerning my picky rescue dog from Korea. My return/exchange experience today solidifies my decision to make this our go-to pet store, even if it is a 25 minute drive from where we live. Totally worth it! After having a not so good experience at another location I just want to say that everyone I've ever encountered at this location has been friendly and knowledgeable. I am in the store at least once a week and have always been greeted and asked if I need help finding anything. They also go out of their way to make sure their customers are being taken care of. Adopted a cat here and was assured by Haileigh that the cat had all his shots and was healthy. They adopt thru New Hope Rescue so we thought this was great to rescue a cat. The other cashier commented that her daughter runs New Hope, hmm, inside edge for New Hope. Turns out cat had respiratory infection so 6 days later we call Hailiegh at Petco for medical advice. She instructs us to take her to a vet. Nothing specific about New Hope or their vet, in Lakewood. Vet charges $130 for shot. 2 days later we realize our older cat, 14, is sick and has same infection. Vet charges another $130 for shot. I went to Petco to see about reimbursement and they said this was all on New Hope, what?? I went to a major franchise, not New Hope, to adopt a cat. Spent 15 minutes at Petco getting New Hopes info and was left feeling like I've just been screwed by a big finger pointing company. New Hope does not cover anything after delivery of pet unless you use their vet, in Lakewood! The New Hope lady was horrible. Maybe she's a sick rescue who could never got to Lakewood. Adopted our puppy out front and did 4 levels of training through this store. Claire was our trainer and no longer works there, but she was excellent. The staff that is still working there remembers our pup and still gives her a treat and makes sure we've been able to get help with anything we need. So normally in LA I never took my cat to Petco for grooming but since we're in Colorado Springs now and there's not many other places that seem to do cat grooming specifically I took a chance on this chain and to be honest wasn't expecting much. I was very happy to find that this location was super helpful, friendly and upfront about the costs and what was involved, the website gives generic information but what I've found since moving here is that it's necessary to actually call to get the real deal info. Sunny loved his grooming experience, I loved the close proximity to where we are and the overall cost was totally worth it and my handsome boy came out even handsomer after he got a bath with some gentle oatmeal cat shampoo(full disclosure, my boy has cat dermatitis so this was definitely good to know), nail trim was good, overall grooming and the fact they also clean teeth(not like vet status clean but cleaner than I would ever get my furchild's teeth) and the women were super helpful and made sure he wasn't freaked out. read more
