When i bought these fish they insisted i could bring it back if one died to get another and so i did. employee at the register sent me to wait in aquatics without calling anyone there to help me so i waited for 20 minutes for an employee to come back and there were zero. back at the registers they were busy so i can't get anymore help. i want to dump my dead fish on this register and i give up. i had to go home with my dead fish. i've been to plenty chain pet stores but i had my worst experience here because no one was there. read more

I absolutely spoiled my cat with toys from here and she loves them! I got one of the wands and it's her all time favorite toy. I would also recommend the pack of mice and scratching post if you also have a playful kitten. I found everything I was looking for when I came in and all the employees were very helpful and even assisted me in signing up for the rewards program. This store has gone down hill. I think I'm done. Never anyone at the cash registers. Or if there is it's one person. Stopped to pick up cat litter. There was 1 line for register 1 that was lighted open. Register 2 someone was returning something. No employee there that I could see. Got my litter came back to the same line. No one had moved no one was being helped no one was at the cash register. I was 5th in line. Same person was at the front of the line as when I entered. A few minutes later I abandoned the line went to look for someone who worked there found no one returned my litter and walked out. Same people were STILL in line. Petco cant seem to staff it's stores adequately. read more

A store with lots of pet supplies. It is in a good location and they have a ton of stuff for you to choose from. I'd say do some research and then ask the employees questions. Yesterday I took my dog to Petco in Southgate and knew they took walk-ins for nail trimming and it was closed, so I went to the front cashier and asked why they were closed and she said unfortunately the groomer was sick and called in, which was fine, that happens. So I asked, will it be open tomorrow and she said yes, they open at 8 am and someone will definitely be here. So I wake up and drive the 25 minutes there with my dog to be the first one there and arrived at 8:05. Got my dog and went in to have the groomer behind the desk just glare at me and not even say good morning or anything. I said hello, I'm here to have my dogs nails trimmed and she said I can't do it! Which I replied why? She said we're not open yet.....so I proceeded to give her the whole playback of what happened yesterday and what I was told and she just proceeded to look at me like "tough sh**! She said I don't have a register and they're not open til 9 so I can't do it. Her name is Anna or Hannah, and she said she's the grooming manager ! If that's how your company has your managers treat customers then fine, there are plenty of other places I can shop for my pets. This review does not EVEN come across as to how rudely I was talked to and then come to find out she is a manager! And yes the whole conversation was very brief but it was long enough to have me fired up. Sadly I cannot put into text the tone and facial expression and attitude. There was NO reason I should have ever been talked to like that! So I took my dog and drove another 25 minutes home. NEVER to return to Petco again!!!!!!! read more

I NEVER had a problem with this store until 5/10/22. My husband and I walked in to this store not knowing it was closed. The door was cracked/open and we thought the door was just jammed so we just walked in. I saw two ladies and no one told me they were closed. Out of no where this one girl comes out screaming and legit saying " GET THE FUCK OUT WE ARE FUCKING CLOSED" (yes she's a employee. I didn't get her name but she has the bottom of her head shaved) you simply don't talk to people like that. I work with customers too and when we DONT PROPERLY close the door right at closing we just simply tell them that we are closed and to come the following day. If you don't know how to properly handle people DONT WORK THERE ! Management needs to retrain their employees bc this is so UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE ! I started out feeling frustrated by this location because when I asked the staff about which cat foods they would recommend, they pushed the petco brand, wholehearted, on me and every staff member reinforced the other by insisting that it's the best. My cat got very sick from it- diarrhea for several weeks and then bloody stool- so my vet recommended a different brand. The manager was WONDERFUL! He refunded every bag of Wholehearted that I purchased and provided excellent customer service along the way. I hope the staff can be more helpful in the future and trained up on the variety of options that are presented at pet stores. Customers go there to be the best pet parents possible, and providing thoughtful advice as well as multiple options would make me trust them more. read more

When I see your salt water aquariums "sucking" air because the water level is too low -- I am told this is beneficial. Not true. What temperature is the air that is being injected because I would think your store would be maintaining a tropical temperature in your aquarium system that is higher than your store temperature. Sending room temperature (air conditioned) into your aquariums would surely drop the temperature and this is called stress to your fish. Are you having problems with diseases (ICK) a parasite caused by chilling of the water? It disturbs me that this is the knowledge Petco is instilling not only with the employees, but also the customer. read more

It's the middle of summer and I have waited seven weeks for my dogs grooming appointment. My dog needs a groom very badly, She is miserable from the heat. I get a call two days before the appointment and tell me they are canceling the appointment and too bad so sad. They said they are understaffed and good luck to me. The groomer, Jude, did a beautiful job on our long-haired collie mix, a rambunctious 11-month old puppy. I couldn't believe how comfortable the dog seemed to be up on the grooming table. It had been several months since his last grooming (we're full-time RV'ers and travel around a lot) so he needed a lot of attention and certainly got it. Jude worked on our pup for about three hours, making sure he was rid of most of the shedding fur that is the bane of any housekeeper, whether stationary or on wheels. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that our dog has been very quiet and completely laid back since we picked him up, about 4 hours ago, which makes me wonder if they didn't use some sort of sedative to calm him down. If they did, I think they should have informed me. Other than that he shows no ill effects and, that said, we would still, certainly, take our beloved dog there again. read more

Made an appointment to get our new dog (have had him for 2 weeks) groomed today 06/28/21 for 11am. Got there early. Brought the required paperwork from HSPPR, proof of rabies vaccination. Gave the paperwork to the girl behind the the counter. She said that the paperwork was no good because it showed the dogs name as Sammy, and we changed his name to Taz, and that the fuzzy 1 inch black and white picture didn't look like my dog. She said that it was PetCo's policy, I told her that people change there new pets names all of the time to fit there family. She said that there are no exceptions. I stopped in to take a look and see if this store currently had any pet rats. They did not but in taking a look at the other small animals, I noticed that the only ones that could access their water was the guinea pigs. Hamsters and mice are out of luck. This is not the first time I noticed this. This is, however, the second time I have approached an employee about it. A hamster was licking away on the ball of the water bottle and it wasn't moving at all. The water bottles are too large for the tiny animals and they can not consistently apply enough force on the ball so no water comes out. Additionally, if they bite the ball, still no water comes out, mostly likely because no one thought to previously roll the ball so that the water would come through the spout, touching the ball before putting it back in the cage. Small animal owners know to do this and I believe this store is unaware of how to properly care for small animals. No one is actually paying attention. The water bottles are all completely full every time I go in there...not because the employees fill the water when it empties but because the animals can't even drink the water. I asked an employee about who takes care of the animals and got a super unclear answer. I told her the problem with the water bottles and she said that they have to use those exact water bottles. They aren't allowed to use any other ones because of CORPORATE. This is a ridiculous excuse. If you work at a pet store and someone says that your animals can not drink water, why would you not stop everything and go actively address the problem? It's a living animal and someone has just told you that it can not drink. This is cruelty. The animals are in the cages and can not help themselves. The employees have access to the animals and blame corporate. If I worked there, I'd be on the phone with corporate telling them that their mandatory water bottles are not good enough and that until they fix the problem, small animals get water any way necessary. My next step is to contact corporate. read more

I will just say that they lost all of my business over the scalping that they gave Gabriel that was referred to as a "hair cut", which actually turned out to be a good thing. I think this is an excellent example of what a chain pet store could be. The store is very clean and well laid out. The employees were friendly and the rescue having an adoption event yesterday were inviting and friendly, something I've found isn't often the case. They had a great selection of natural and grain-free dog and cat foods, as well as your conventional brand offerings. The fish area was clean, no sick or dead fish noticed and there were several well stocked aisles of fresh and salt water aquarium supplies. The mice, rat, guinea pig, and ferret cages were very clean and the animals looked healthy. Same for the reptiles and amphibians. Overall this store met and exceeded my expectations, and I see myself coming here to meet my pet-related needs in the future. read more

I love the pet groomers, and employees here. My dog Molly doesn't like very many people, but she adores Diane in grooming. Since having her groom Molly the first time, I've never looked elsewhere for a groomer. They remember their customers and their dogs here, and will treat you like a friend. The only complaint I have about the store in general, but this could be applied to most chain stores is the lack of pond supplies. They don't sale many items in bulk, and some items are not here at all. So, if you have specialized needs like myself you are better off looking at small pet shops or online. read more

Took my dog (mini labradoodle) to the groomer here to try someone new, they cut her way too short, just all one very short blade, didn't trim her toe nails with a full grooming and she didn't come home smelling clean as she normally does from other groomers. I really liked this grooming salon! I had been taking my two fur babies to the same groomer their entire life so when we moved I was very nervous about a new place. Rachel made me feel so comfortable when we met. She instantly released all of my concerns and I felt safe leaving my babies with her. After the grooming session she was open and honest with me and expressed her opinions about how short I wanted to cut my dogs hair. I respected her honesty and it showed me that she really cared about my girls. Will definitely be bringing them back! read more

I brought my dog in to have her face cut. I was greeted by a man with a piercing between his eyes. we Discussed what I would like done and I said as short as you can get it. I usually cut pretty close. I came back to get my dog and I was informed with a very rude tone that I wasn't allowed to leave, as a walk in. I said I was unaware and he repeated it to me again like I didn't hear him the first time. The attitude I was receiving made me not want to bring my dog back. And when I got in the car, I realized he only shaved her nose and cut her bangs. The rest of her head was as it was when I brought her in. Took my dog here to get groomed twice. The employees were nice. The first time my dog caught a case of the mites. I didn't think nothing of it. So about 3 weeks later I took her back to get groomed and she caught another case of the mites. Also, I have no idea how mean these people were to my dog, but now she is afraid of taking baths. Our golden retriever Loki has been going to their groomers since she was a year old, she is now 9 years old. She always looks great and smells so nice afterwards. They are usually able to get her in most of the time even if it is last minute! We also go for cat, fish and guinea pig supplies. Everyone is always helpful and willing to help if we questions! I went here with my 11 year old daughter on Friday to get fish to start our first family fish tank. I decided on here based on the good reviews. I'm greatly disappointed that now we'll be spending time and money trying to cure the Ich that four of the six black skirt Tetras now have. I went back today and almost every single freshwater tank contained dead fish and the majority of fish there have very obvious Ich. I was offered a refund, and that's nice... it however does nothing for the fish or my kids or our now Ich infected brand new family fish tank. Sorely disappointed at the poor conditions of their marine section. I won't be returning, even if customer service was great, if the fish are sick and dying niceties don't mean a thing. I hope the next father bringing his kid in has a different experience after they hopefully quarantine and disinfect their tanks. Hint... Hint... PetCo if you're reading this... read more

Danielle was really nice and helpful, she even called the Petco in Hawaii where I previously took my dog to make sure she trimmed him to the same length and style. Took my dog to Petco on Cheyenne Mtn. Again she is returned home with a hurt leg. It seems that the groomer who did her just doesn't care about our babies. The first time he did such a good job. The second he cut her leg. Yesterday she comes home and can't put pressure on her paw. If you don't care about other babies. He should not be doing this job. I am wondering if anyone else had problems there? I WILL NOT take her there again and trust me I will let everyone know. read more
