Nicest employees we've ever encountered! We noticed that the prices on their website were much cheaper then the prices in the store! The employee was amazing! She was super helpful and went so far as to price match everything from their website!!! Not only was she amazing to us in regards to pricing but she spoke to us literally at length regarding guinea pigs and what they needed/what they eat/their habitat/etc! What awful customer service. We waited for 15 minutes for someone to assist us, and when I finally went to the cashier, I found River and asked if she could help us with the guinea pigs. She simply pointed to the cages and said, "All of these are females, and those are males," while already walking away. I stopped her to ask whether it would be better to get a female and a male together or two guinea pigs of the same sex. Without stopping, she replied that it was better to keep guinea pigs of the same sex and continued walking away. She then said, "Call me when you're ready." I was disappointed by the lack of engagement and customer care. As first-time guinea pig owners, we were hoping for guidance and an opportunity to ask questions. Instead, we felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. A little patience and willingness to help would have made a huge difference in our experience. read more

Petco grooming in Killingly is fantastic! My senior dog is both blind and deaf and has been groomed by Amanda for years. She provides him with a stress free environment and is very loving to him. He has a double coat and sheds constantly and always comes out looking great! Love that they use a drummel for the nails rather than just clippers. Dog grooming at Petco is great! I've always taken my dog here and I feel comfortable leaving him for the time needed to do a full service wash/grooms/nail trim/file. The staff are very understanding and patient, and are always willing to answer questions and concerns. The only complaint I have is the price and I have had experiences where I haven't received a call when my dog is all set. Other than that, I would highly recommend!! Disappointing experience with grooming. My dog came from the pound and after a month in our home, at the recommendation of the vet, we had him groomed. The groomer cut his fur incredibly close, but really unevenly including all around his bottom & penis and then banned him from grooming because he was too "distractable". Can't imagine why! She was incredibly rude to us when we picked him up and now he's just sad. I made it clear he is a pound dog and needs to be treated gently and kindly. She was ok with this when she accepted him, but why she decided to cut his fur this way, or what happened while she was doing that I do not know. I do know we will definitely not go back. UPDATE: PetCo does have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and after discussing what happened with the manager, he agreed that the groomer should have called me if my dog was really presenting such a difficult challenge for her. They refunded the cost of grooming, which I appreciate but I doubt I would risk it again read more

I like this petco. Always have what I'm looking for. Dog grooming on the high side but they do an outstanding job. Also had good experience with dog training classes. My dog loves going there and all the staff is friendly. Update 2017. Just got back into aquarium tropical fish. Matt helped me out. Very knowledgeable and courteous. Petco lucky to have this guy. They have a good variety of grain free dog food. I went in the other day and there were french fries in the parakeet cage. That's not a healthy thing for them to eat. Also the rats were living in very cramped quarters and they were beating each other up because of this. read more

Bought two $30 harnesses. Neither one of them worked. Went to see about returning them. Told them I did not have my receipt and simply asked if it was possible to look it up my card. The young lady working the counter called her supervisor Steve over who told me they can not do that and the most they would be able to do is give me store credit. I said okay. He than went on about how I'm not worth loosing his job over and he would never do that for me because I wasn't worth his job. Coming at me as though I argued the matter I than explained I understood when he said it the first time and did not appreciate his rudeness about the matter and he could have dropped it as "no we can't we can only give you store credit" as he rudely exclaimed in the first place. He did not drop the matter and continued to rant on about how we probably thought he we do that because others will and repeated how we were not worth loosing his job. Horrible customer service. Not sure why he is in management when it was quite evident he failed to manage him self in a proper way and continued to try to argue with a customer. Even after the customer asked him to stop ! Fortunately the young lady who was working was very nice and attentive. read more
