I would recommend this place. It was super clean. It had what I needed for my kitty cats. It was very informative on different things that cats and dogs need. They had a wonderful employee at the front desk that helped me find the perfect things for my cats to keep them healthy and so they can play with little catnip toys. I was talking to someone and told them I didn't have a receipt for a 4999 Tuffy toy I bought my pitbull couple weeks ago it's been less than 30 days and someone bought it for him and they said it would be OK to come in to return it today. I brought my dog in paid $25. Got them a little mini package get us toothbrush and his feet done by another $25 worth of treats and then $50 buying two elk antlers. Well talk to the manager Paul and he said company policy he couldn't return it and I told him that that was not what I was told two days ago. He was very rude and said they didn't sell that product. I told him they do it could've been at a different location though he said I highly doubt that so I pulled up the Petco website and showed him that the large barnyard pig made by Tuffy was on the website so he called me a liar basically and then still refused to return the toy even after my purchases today what a disgusting and horrible way to treat your customers who's been with you since 2004 I asked for a General Manager's Naeemah number of course he said he didn't have one how convenient so then he just only wanted to give me his name in store number no one to contact. I asked for a corporate number and he almost threw a hissy fit. I will definitely be escalating this matter of the chain, but as well as feeling like a welcome guest even after spending $100 there today and him still refusing to exchange my dog's toy I will definitely be going to Petsmart from here on out. read more

Selling a used recovery vest is crazy. And it wa missing the calming disk that's supposed to be included. If it was used I get it, but having possibly another dogs fluids in here is so unsanitary. We aren't able to return it rn and have to stick with the cone we have. Hopefully they take back the return when we're able to give it back because that's kinda crazy. Tried taking my dog for a trim, I was able to schedule the appointment quickly so I'll give them points for that but the lady that was going to cut my dog's hair gave me bad vibes from the start. She and another employee started bickering right in front of me, it was awkward, and unprofessional. The lady was very nice but honestly looked like she was on something, and I was trying not to judge because I don't know her story and I was willing to give her a chance but when I did talk with her she just wasn't understanding what kind of haircut I wanted for my dog, she kept trying to push for shorter hair. I came to Petco to get my dog groomed for the first time after a bad experience at the nearby PetSmart. Nicole groomed my chihuahua terrier mix, and he came home happy and looking adorable. I tried to explain her that according to their policy, if it's put back into the shelf, they cannot deny your transaction. I was literally embarrassed as there were people in line and they made it seem like I was trying to shoplift when it was just a ¢1 item?. Ironically, as I walked to the harness isle that I found it in, I overheard them talking about how she literally was just going to save it for herself since it was ¢1. Pretty stupid liberal (hard minded) people running these stores that unapologetically literally hate everyone when it's their job to check you out and literally assist you. I had to make an unfortunate choice of surrendering two of my five leopard geckos and I had called them all the way from Buckley to ask them if they had room in their quarantine tanks for two leopard geckos. After two weeks of calling all the stores from Tacoma to Tukwilla and Issaquah, they told me they had room! The general manager on the phone told me they had the room and she was very professional and polite. I explained how long of a drive I was and I felt like a slight burden but she told me she would alert the employees of my situation and the two geckos. How kind!! Some stores would have chosen to just take in someone else's geckos or hamsters who showed up in 10 minutes AFTER I called. But nope. They were ready when I walked in and knew the situation when I entered the short line with two shoeboxes each with one leopard gecko in it. The cashier was very nice and she showed me where to go, only for Matt (I believe that's his name) to take them off my hands to bring them to a new home. I did not feel like a burden at all thought they had to hold those two spots and wait for the arrivals. I was very pleased that this process was more simple than I thought and they made it easier on me. I feel very confident those two geckos will find a new safe home. The vet check in guy could not answer my question and didn't bother to inform me that I had to wait 24 hours after my cats rabies shot before I could take her to the groomer for a flea bath. Came in to get some bird dishes and I should have just gone down the street to Petsmart. First of all, the store stank of perfume. They had two conures for sale that looked puffed up and ill. Right nest to them, the exotics/fish section smelled like something had died. Grabbed the bird bowls and got in line. There were only two people in front of me and one cashier. I guess a bunch of people were picking up dogs from grooming. The cashier called for help three times in 15 MINUTES and no one came to help her. Like, it shouldn't take that long to process three people. Anyway, when it actually was our turn, she was distracted by a groomer that came up looking for a receipt and ended up not even giving us one. Took our 11 year old Yorkie to get a hair cut service here for the first time. I was hesitant at first. When we first arrived the lady at the front desk was calm and greeted me and the dog. She asked a lot of important questions that I have never ever been asked when getting the dog groomed. When it was time for me to hand my dog over she took her like if she was her own dog. My dog stopped shaking. She normally shakes for a while and gets anxious. I explained to her how I wanted her hair cut. We aren't too picky but in this case my mom has chopped the dogs hair and her hair was a mess. I walked away not expecting much. When I returned to pick her up I was shocked on how peaceful my dog was. It was almost as if she didn't want to come back home with me. Her hair looked amazing! This is about Vetco, As who mans a clinic changes your milage may vary. We have used Vetco for years for vaccinations as we travel quite a bit and been very pleased. Went in for Lepto renewals on our two dogs. The appointment system wanted to give me two appointments over an hour apart. As I have to drive 75 minutes roundtrip to the closest Petco, I did what I have done for years brought both dogs and expected them to squeeze in another shot like usual. The KAREN vet tech said no way, I explained why getting both dogs really mattered to me, she did not budge. I asked who the vet business was as I wanted to make sure to NEVER use them and she would not give me a business card. We left with NO shots. The Petco manager was apologetic but has no authority over the Vetco part. Petco will be collateral damage, but PetsMart will now get all out pet supply business, and we will look for local independent vaccination clinics or a vet for shots. read more

We brought the blenny home on Saturday. We acclimated him slowly as we have with all of our other fish. By Wednesday, he had died. I contacted petco but they could do nothing to help us. Why not? Turns out if we would have bought him online instead of the store they would have offered us a guarantee. How does that make sense? Because of this, we will never buy anything from the local petco. We're your royal customer but some of your groomer (J) associate tried to charged us extra money for services. Your associate told us if you're not ok with the number for extra we could make appointment with another groomers but please know groomer assigned from automatic system WE DID NOT CHOOSE that groomer. This appointment is almost a month but previous groomers never have issues and never changed us extra before. Not just only us shocked and another customers in line tried check in shocked as well they not even know why groomer tried to charged us extra. This such horrible experiences with with groomer they just shaved our dogs all the way. Groomer department manager never resolve this issues. Horrible service I had to wait in line for almost 20-30 minutes to get help on an item that the cashier could not process (totally not her fault). The cashier made 3 attempts to get her supervisor "Angelina" to the front to help as she began to get a longer line finally she came and cleared the situation I had patience as the cashier kept apologizing. Shortly after I went to make a return just before closing to make an even swap I asked Angelina if I could do a quick return she immediately escalated things. She said I need to leave although the doors were still open for the public to enter and then went on saying she would call the cops and to have another employee put his hands on me to remove me all while I was calm and asking a simple question and reminded her she's the one who had me waiting right before and couldn't accommodate me right before closing. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. We've been going to this place many times to get supplies for our pets and employees have been friendly. I only encountered one employee who was literally high on the job (what was he snorting?) in over 12 years we've been going here. The price is a little bit more compared to what you get online or any department stores but you'll find what you need here - including a homeopathic UTI remedy for our cat which saved us tons of $$$ in vet fees. We also adopted two pets here. Our Maine Coon and our Bearded Dragon where from Petco. My biggest suggestion is always research before you get a pet especially when it comes to reptiles. You can't assume employees know everything about them because you can end up with a sickly one. Every visit has been great so far and we even used Vetco services. A dog has to eat! I had to get a bag of Blue Buffalo limited ingredients for small dogs and fortunately they had it. I also needed some shampoo but they were out of the shampoo I needed and the salesperson Austin was very helpful in suggesting an alternative. I was also very lucky to find the last old version of a bone toy my dog likes. The new ones are thicker and he doesn't like them as much. If you need anything make sure to ask for Austin. I have been going to Petco for over 20 years. My pets have received grooming and vaccinations. I have spent 1000s there over the years. I have been a loyal customer. In recent years, I have been biting my tongue. Petco markets itself as a place for "low cost" vaccines midnight. It used to be that way years ago. The lines used to be out the door. The vaccine prices are more than the vet I bring my dogs to. Ludicrous! A couple of weeks ago I got some vaccines for one of my pups, cost nearly $100. Today 3 weeks later I got a booster shot for $52.55. The check in is painful. Seats are in isles. The floors are always FILTHY! There is no cleaning in this store...utter filth! Pets have contagious diseases. The floor should be sanitized every day! I bet it has been years since a mop hit the floor. I bet if you took a swab of the floor and tested the results the diseases found would be astronomical! How you pay for things is always crazy as well. Generally, there is only one person at the register. Today there was only one at the register and there were 12 people in line. To add insult to injury, the person took my dog in the back and gave me a slip to go to the front register. There were 11 people Ahead of me. They called me on the phone for me to pick up my dog, but I was in line. Nuts! The same holds true for when you get your pet groomed! They give you a slip and you have to go wait in line to pay. Why can't the vaccination clinic as well as the grooming clinic have their own registers!? I am so angry today with my experience that I had to write it here today. Change your website language that illustrates you are a HIGH COST vaccination clinic and NOT a low cost one! This is a clear example of fraudulent false advertising! Your door is disgusting. This was the worst experience. My fluval edge filter was defective and I needed to find out what to do to get a new one. I called this Petco because it's close to where I work and I bought my aquarium at Petco online. When I called a girl answered laughing.. I asked her what I should do and she was so unhelpful and instructed me to return it after filling a form online.. I then reminded her that I completely assembled my tank with fish in it.. So that wasn't an option.. Then she was like oh wait.. Maybe I should transfer you to aquatics.. Yeah no sh*t. I then waited around 10 minutes on hold until someone could tell me that I needed to take the part in. I went In the store and waited by the aquatics for .. Forever. I then wandered around looking for someone to help me. I went to the register and asked if anyone worked there and could help me. She paged someone to go to the aquatics and told me to wait there. Shocker that no one showed up. I finally found someone and she said she would find someone so I waited again. A girl came, completely unknowledgeable .. Tried to help me but it was so hopeless I was ready to leave. Had appointments for both the vet and the groomer at the Federal Way store. Took me over a month to get appointments. Went to the vet first everything went great no problem been there many times never a bad experience. Then took her over to the groomer for her appointment and even though she's been groomed at the Kent location many times without incident they refused to groom her because of her age. I made the appointment to the website they know how old she is it would've been nice and they told me that before I waited a month to get her groomed I will never take her there to Federal Way again. I will no longer buy her food there. And I will find another location for the vet. read more

My household has way too many pets, so we buy literally everything here. Dog food, cat food, mice for the snake, and so on. The only poor experience I've had with petco is that the hamster we got died after 3 months or so. I doubt it was the stores fault but since they done have much info about the hamsters who knows if there was anything we could have done. My 12 year old daughter cried for days. She was the best pet owner ever and the hamster was under no stress whatsoever. One of the other things about this store is half the time I can never find an associate aside from the person at the register. I've never used their groomer or dog training so I can't offer much insight. Just be sure to ask questions if you're interested. read more
