While in the checkout, the cashier was trying to stuff all my purchases in one bag. When she went to put a heavy item into the already overstuffed bag, I said wait a moment. I won't be able to carry that because it will be too heavy. Her answer to me was, "well we charge $.10 per bag". I stated that I did not care about that. Sure enough, looking at my receipt, they charged me $.20 for the bags. So, you don't even get 1 bag free. I never noticed this before. They should have this posted at the register. Well... I've never been to this Petco. To no fault of my own. I had an appointment today for my puppy to be groomed. 2 hrs before the appt I get a call that my appointment is cancelled, no offer to reschedule as I was told "they're pretty booked". I asked would I be fit in due to the last min cancellation... I was offered a 20% discount instead which should be applied to the next appointment regardless for the inconvenience but I wasnt looking for a discount I was looking for an appointment. I just said that's ok I will find someone else. The lady happily said "ok!" Very disappointing... I knew I should've gone with the small Black owned business. I have an appointment for my puppy tomorrow with the BOB. read more

Walking into this location is always fun! Staff is always super nice and welcoming and ready to help how ever they can! They even love to show affection to my dog, which is wonderful! great staff, great customer service!!! I also absolutely love the dog training at this location. I do believe that Tara the dog trainer is 100% the major part in that because she is just so amazing, and super hard working. Her training skills are so beneficial to me and my pup. My pup has come so far since day one of her classes and I couldn't be more proud of her, but im also so happy that I chose this store out of all other locations and different pet stores I could have picked from and I choose this best one out of all! I highly recommend tara the dog trainer to anybody with any adult dog or puppy. she will truly will help YOU change your dogs behaviors AND teach them some awesome tricks. 10/10 review! Took my Yorkie Terrier yesterday to be groomed at 10 am. Was told he would not be ready for 4 1/2 hrs. Not sure what they are doing all that time. Receptionist and her boss were super. Greeted my dog, told them exactly what I wanted especially the length of his fur (told them several times-I DO NOT WANT HIM SHAVED. Got there at 2:30, yep, he was shaved. I asked Velma what happened...she went to the back and I could hear her ask the groomer-didn't you see the length I listed. He stated-"I saw it, but I decided it was not short enough". So he shaved my dog because he wanted to! Mad is not the word for it. My dog is 14 and he gets nervous and ill when his fur is too short. After on going apologies-how does that help grow his fur back....I demanded my money back. Go anywhere else! read more

Just had our 2 dogs done and although it's not the worst I've had, it also wasn't the best I've every had. Our 1 year old still has pieces on the top of his head that weren't touched and his tail was not done at all, not even brushed out. Our 5 year old looks good except we specifically asked to just lightly trim his beard and it is gone! That was part of his look!! I hope he grows it back quickly. read more

I made an online order for cat food because I realized I ran out. I was going to head over to this location before they closed. A "Nathan" answered the phone and I was being super nice just inquiring about when my ordered would be ready. He then decided to give me a whole lot of attitude and was very rude. Letting me know "it won't be ready until tomorrow, because it's so last minute. And we will get around to it when we can." Had a nasty tone to me the whole time, I said thank you for letting me know and he hung up on me. This will be the last time I ever give this location a cent. I would have rated zero if I could. I placed an order 2 weeks ago for same day delivery for 2 items. Well only one item was delivered even though the tag said 2. Tried calling the store and the older man told me to come and get it myself since he couldn't contact the driver. Or wouldn't!!! Called the driver and of course her number didn't work and she didn't answer her text msg. Store clerk did even have the number to customer service! I spent 45 minutes of my time trying to arrange to get the rest of my order. I'm not their customer service dept! Even corporate did not respond! So it took me another 6 days to get the item which of course was Christmas stock. So, my $400 order for my dog and neighbor's dog went to their competition! Do not recommend Petco on 7 mile road in Livonia. Wish I could give them 0 stars! Well so much for being a loyal customer! read more

My dog has had a couple bad experiences with nail trimmings, so I relayed this message to the groomers, and they were so wonderful. They treated my pup (who was more than a little dramatic) like she was their own. They gave her kisses and snuggles and tried to comfort her when she was starting to get scared. I felt like they really cared about her. read more

I just took my dog here to be groomed and they said that they won't be ready for 4 hours or so. After 5 hours we picked up my dog and she was NOT acting like herself. She was out of it , couldn't walk , and when she tried to pee she fell over and couldn't stand back up. They said they didn't sedate her and just put her in a small crate but not for long when she is a bigger dog. Obviously they are lying and put her in a crate for long time if she can't feel her back legs and having hard time. I'm going to get to the bottom of what happened. I don't think i will be taking my dogs back here. They were nice on the phone but I don't know what happened. Will be taking her to the vet. read more

Please don't take your dog here. I took my poor Rottweiler girl there and the first problem started with the groomer being quite obviously incompetent to deal with dogs, she couldn't get her to settle and seemed to just be making her more hyped out. She got out of the collar because she put in on wrong, and then she broke my collar by putting a leash on the wrong loop snapping it and all of her ID links off. She also cut one of her nails and it bled. Horrible staff that needs to be trained better. read more

Have been in this store a couple times since moving into the area. Staff seems very nice and always ask if there is anything that they can help me find. I see negative reviews from last year so hopefully this means they hired new happy workers. My daughter also volunteers at this location for a cat/ kitten pet rescue organization and they have always been very helpful and appreciative to see her. read more

Terrible! I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. Although this store is fairly new, it's very disorganized and the majority of the staff are grumpy, rude and unhelpful. I won't even get started on the grooming department. You're better off going to PetSmart or ordering what you need online. read more

I took my 2 dog's here on a Sunday to be groomed, their hair was pretty long & my dog's have 2 very different personalities. First is my schnoodle he's high strung, little nervous, but very nice dog, but if you are nervous to pet him, it makes him nervous too. My other dog is a lhasa apso, she's laid back & very friendly. So the groomer inspects both of their coats, she was nervous with my schnoodle, said he was bleeding, called the other groomer she looked at him & said oh yeah, he's bleeding...really??? He had no blood, no scabs nothing on him but refused to service him, I was really upset. She said I can only cut the other one, so I left her with them, left the store very upset, this person has no dog skills and certainly doesn't know how to properly handle dogs. I wouldn't take my dogs to this store ever again!!! Called the Petco store in Westland, took my other dog they wouldn't service there, the staff was ten times better than the Livonia store, the groomers said they get that a lot from the other stores where they don't want to service certain dogs. The groomer's name was Amanda, she was wonderful, my dog wasn't nervous or anything around her, even let her brush his teeth!!! read more
