Wow! This place is amazing. We had a loose leash class with instructor Maddy today. She was very accommodating, professional, and nonjudgmental. There was a lot to learn but she presented it in a way that was not intimidating. The entire staff made us feel welcome. I found this place to be a complete waste of time. I was told there would be a introductory class only to arrive being the only one there. As a further waste of my time, I was given one price for training only to be upsold once I was in person. It's great they have these favorable reviews but my experience was completely negative. It's probably worth noting these reviews seem to be rather dated. Perhaps the management changed or ownership changed. The staff needs to take more copious notes when initially speaking with potential clients. In my experience if the manager had a modicum of common sense she would have offered a discount on a class for the inconvenience they caused. read more

I went to MSU as a rather forced situation with the trainer we hired from K9 Turbo Training. I have to say, sadly I feel both of these companies severly let us down and we ultimately put are dog down because neither was prompt in their responses to the issues we were having. I believe their interaction worsened our problem by about 75%. The long and short is, K9 quit or basically fired us and took forever to get me referrals of other trainers. The owner told me she was too busy all summer (business travel) and could not take me on. I had lost all confidence in her other trainer (see below) MSU's Dr. Hopfensperger, gave both of our large dogs prozac and clonadine to one and was supposed to refer trainers as well and after asking multiple times and watching our dogs go from an incident once every 8 months to daily, we were out of our minds. I think the drugs and lack of consistent help was to blame. I was severely disappointed and let them both know I was writing a review. Dr. Hops offered to refund our money for her time of $450 but it never arrived. We paid $700 in total for blood work which was totally unnecessary. The next morning after putting my dog down her office manager called and wanted to tell me all about the loss of her dog for the same reason. Honestly, I was so sad about my own dog, why would I care to hear her sad story and while I was so angry they could not at the least send me referrals for trainers for the issues we were having. The Long Story - K9 met with us and we decided to buy 10 sessions. The trainer seemed sweet and demure. After she gave us her bio and a comment was made she had never had an incident during her training... we began training. I believe I had already worn this trainer out because I am adamantly opposed to clicker training. It drives me crazy to listen to and it had driven my last two dogs crazy as well as treats, they were so overwhelmed and excited about food they couldn't sit still for it. The first day during of our training our resource guarding dog did something worse and unexpected than we had seen before. I asked if we could let our other dogs out of the bedroom upon completing his training and the trainer said, yes. I told her I saw body language that was not good as she wrote the homework for me and our non-aggressor was attacked by the dog she was there to train. I know what happened and what went wrong, but K9 insisted we go to MSU to see their behaviorist. (despite OVRS has the only other behaviorist in Michigan a few blocks from my house. They said MSU! Our resource guarder had been running between me and the trainer while we wore fanny packs full of yummy meat. Well, when we let our other dog out of the bedroom he came running to smell our fanny packs and the resource guarder thought those were all his now. We should have never had the packs on or let them be together so quickly. K9 said I had to go to MSU. So, I drove 1.5 hours to Lansing with our 3 dogs in tow. I saw Dr. Hopfensperger. We brought the aggressor in first. He layed down when she came in and never gave her a second thought. He liked our other little and big dog but would get mad at our little dog every 8 months or so. So, Dr. Hops, literally paid no attention whatsoever to the dog, after we talked for about 35 min, she took him to the back and came back and said he behaved very odd. Idk, I wasn't there but I never let vets take my dogs out of my site ever for routine nails, bloodwork, etc... I figured we were at the esteemed MSU Vet though so not to be concerned. Then I brought in my other two dogs and they force you to pay attention to them and are more lively. She put our super happy dog on Prozac, he became a total ahole, in 10 days he was out of control. Then we would give him clonodine (her suggestion) and he could barely stay awake. She said the little dog would be the barometer for how things were going and he would get nothing. Well, by 4 weeks our resource guarder was angry and out of control, we called and emailed K9 & MSU, asked for trainers names again and again, we got nothing. We had to make a very difficult decision, because we could not find the help and don't feel they tried very hard. Not any trainer was going to do for this issue so it was very tough to find. We recently drove 4 states to adopt another rescue, we were willing to go this far because they had an animal behaviorist on staff. She swore up and down this dog was amazing with other dogs and sweet as can be. Well,when we arrived it was quite aggressive with other dogs. If she had not been a behaviorist we would not have done this. Anyway, I guess my point is, I am not impressed with this lengthy amount of education to diagnose a dogs behavior. We have weened our other dog off the Prozac and are so happy to have him back the way he was. read more

I have worked with K9 Turbo Training for 3 years now and can't say enough good things about them. I have taken my own dog there for reactivity towards other dogs. He has improved tremendously and all using force-free, humane, science based methods. Our journey has not been an easy one with our puppy jack. After getting jack back from being treated for parvo after only having him for 2 days, he started showing some extreme signs of aggression. Jack, only being 12 weeks, was biting us (breaking skin), having guarding issues, and extreme separation anxiety. We reached a point where jack was using aggression to communicate multiple times a day and we hit an all time low. We were faced with not only issues we had with our dog, but issues it caused us to have as a couple as well. We were lost on what to do and where to turn until k9 turbo training stepped in. I really love K9 Turbo Training. They absolutely changed my fearful dog Zeus' world. They are the best, hands down, no contest. Zeus is our very fearful 3 year old Argentine Dogo. We also have a midsize rescue 2 year old mix, and a 12 year old Argentine Dogo. I had Dogos all of my adult life and considered myself a pretty experienced dog owner when we got Zeus at 12 weeks old, but I had absolutely no idea how profound his fear really was and what it would mean for him and to our family as he continued to grow up. Francisco, Kate, and Katelin helped us take him from living in a world that he found deeply scary to being a very happy, much more confident snuggly, and safe dog. We did Board and Train and sessions at and around our home. Their skill, knowledge and together with their compassion and absolute commitment to making each individual dog the best that dog can be while fully respecting his personalty and needs and educating the owner as to why and how dog things happen makes them the best.
