Worst grooming ever. I said specifically that I do not want my standard poodle shaved at all like a poodle. I like her and her face fluffy. I just wanted a trim. Nothing shaved except around her rump. They were also supposed to bath her. When I got her back, her face was cut super short abs her nose was shaved. She was still damp, they barley blew her out. I'm not even sure they cut her nails. I also still found grass and little stickers stuck in her coat. So I'm not really sure what they did other then shave her face, like I asked them not too. read more

Be very careful when deciding to have your pet groomed here. Melissa is great, however, the last time out little guy was bathed & trimmed he came home with cuts & a very uneven shave. I neglected to ask for Melissa. My husband picked up & I didn't get home until late so didn't notice until the next day. This was weeks ago and his face still hasn't healed all the way. read more

My dog was adopted from a shelter and nervous about being handled. I had him groomed twice at Petco with good results. The third time when I went to pick him up I found him muzzled and shaking with fear. The "groomer" said he was trying to bite her. Why in the world didn't they call me when he got snappy instead of trying to strong arm him?? I have not been able to have a groomer handle him since. This store is so unorganized!! Which makes since considering they are super under staffed.. They maybe four people working the entire store it seems like.. I went in one day to get my boyfriends daughter a new fish, which should have taken me maybe 10 minutes turned out to be 45 minutes.. And the store wasn't even busy. Maybe 5 people in the whole store?! There was nobody in the aquarium department, so after waiting a few minutes to see if anyone would come, I went to the front to ask them to call someone over to help me out.. No one came. After 10 minutes, I went back and explained no one came and asked her to call some one again.. (Which mind you is just an announcement over the loud speaker) another 10 minutes went by, an still no one. So I went back again. She pressed her button again, and no one came again after waiting another 10 minutes...I finally went and asked someone else to grab some one to help me. She finally (thankfully) got on her walkie and some one for me.. The cashiers never seem to know what they are doing. One even told me that "the place ran like sh*t".... That really says something... Ok. I just read a negative comment about Nicole. Interesting comment as the person unfortunately calls her out by name, (if you have a problem file a private complaint with a manger!) the person the, laments, criticizes her style and then calls her pretty. Hmmmm,... just saying by not saying,....We go to PetCo a couple times per month and she has been very helpful and kind to the entire family collectively and individually the kids, the dog etc. I've seen the same positive style of services with other customers as well. Clean store and friendly staff that genuinely love animals. Every time I bring my German Shepherd in there, the staff always pet her and give her a treat. They have basically any type of food you want from the cheaper varieties to the all-natural and breed specific varieties. Lots of toys and treats. It looks like there are large sections for cats, birds, and fish as well but I only have a dog so I mainly stick with that area. I also like that they have a grooming department. My dog sheds to the point that I still wonder how she has fur. I take her a few times a year (mainly when the seasons change and her coat either gets really thick or thin depending) and spend a little extra on a "shed-less" treatment. I don't know exactly if they use a special shampoo, but I know they use a special brush and just brush her for a while and get a lot of the undercoat out. It definitely helps for a while and I see a noticeable difference in my carpets. Also if you join the membership club you get discounts and coupons in the mail. read more

This place has a ton of adult cats that need to be adopted. If you are looking for an adult cat, please go to this place and adopt one of the wonderful felines that need a home. The selection at this place is okay. I've seen quite a bit better, and the layout is just confusing. I've never had such a hard time trying to figure out where the kitten food is, and it is not in the place as the other kitten products. All that being said, it is a Petco that does have a wide selection of items, even if they don't have the exact brand you may be looking for, or the correct size bag. Unless you are very specific about what you need (hello cat owners) then you should be able to find something that will work. The staff was helpful enough, even though some had no knowledge of the products, while others knew quite a bit. This place needs a make over though as many of the other Petco's I've been to have been a lot better. But, it's a Petco. If you need products for your pets, go to Petco. read more

I was hesitant to take my two small Yorkies to a chain store for grooming because they charge about the same (or a little more actually) than my regular groomer and I was afraid they'd be mediocre, but I was desperate and if you don't make an appt. far in advance with most groomers, it can be quite awhile before they can get you in. I got an appt on a Sunday which was only a couple of days away. I am VERY VERY picky when I come to how I want my dogs to be groomed and what I want them to look like. The staff there was extremely accomodating, even though they probably don't usually do such extreme body cuts on Yorkies. Not only did they do a STELLAR job on the cuts (I took pictures for them as a guide), they did the BEST job of clipping their nails that I've EVER had done (and my dogs are 5 and 6 yrs old). I have absolutely NO qualms about taking them here from now on. The only thing that I can say that might be a negative for some people is that the dogs do have to be there for between 3-4 hours (it was 4 hours for me), but I don't mind that b/c it gave me time to go home and shampoo my carpets without the dogs being right behind me. Also, they sort of try to sell you more services (like add-ons; conditioner, special shampoo, etc) that all cost more, but they aren't pushy about it. Overall, I found the groomers to be very knowledgeable and compassionate. read more

I went to here today to get my dogs nails trimmed. U was there a few weeks ago with all my paperwork I needed. They could not do it then because he had a bad foot at the time. Today when I went, the service was bad and they did not enter any thing from last time. It is frustrating that when you have a job to do and dont do it. I will not go back for any grooming for my dog. The store itself I like. The customer service has been great, and very helpful. read more

I read lots of bad reviews on grooming here, but I've been taking my two dogs here for 5 years and they've been wonderful. They do a good job and my dogs are relaxed and calm when I pick them up. Yeeeeaaa.... my dog looks like she got into a fight with a lawn mower.... super uneven all over her tiny little body and what appears to be red nick marks. My fiancé went to pick her up and they said she was snapping at them. Which I find surprising seeing as we take her to a different groomer regularly and they have always commented on how sweet she is and easy to groom which leads me to believe they were super rough on her. So, I had a foster dog a while ago. He was somewhat aggressive but that was due to the fact he was blind and probably had some major trauma. After a while he was okay with me but HATED being brushed or have his hair cut or anything. The day he got adopted the new owners brought him to the groomers in Petco. I waited for them to finish because I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him before he left. When he was done I asked if I could take him but then found out the dog wasn't under the rescues name anymore. So I had to wait for the new owners. As I was waiting I heard the groomers complaining, "I couldn't even trim his nails he tried to bite me!" "I could hardly brush him or cut his hair!" Hearing this I had to comment and I said "Well if you were having such issues why don't you use a muzzle" and she replied "We don't use muzzles" It was unprofessional to have a job like this knowing you will get some problematic dogs and to complain about them when you aren't even using any protection with a blind rescue dog. You'd think they would be smarter than that. They just are unprofessional in the grooming place there. And I wouldn't recommend going to get your dog groomed there. There are plenty of other great dog groomers in Napa. read more

Something is way off at this store. First, the grooming horror stories here on Yelp are really upsetting. I've been in a few times to buy cat litter, and the last time I was there I stepped in something at the register while paying. I looked down and it was a large puddle of urine! The cashier was super unconcerned and said,"oh yeah, that happens." I asked her for some cleaner and paper towels for my shoe and she said she didn't have anything. Really? I would prefer ZERO stars but that isn't an option. Our poor Mia was dropped off for a grooming & nail clip. Seems innocent right? Not in this case. She was injured and needed to be picked up from the vet. She has to be on medication for a WEEK. She also is going back to the vets this morning for a procedure that she will need to be put to sleep for. Did I mention Mia also has to wear a cone around her head for a WEEK!! If the whole experience wasn't Scarry enough she now has a cone not allowing her much sleep. I wish an option to have zero stars was available b/c I absolutly wld never recomend! Regaurding the "dog grooming" dept. Couldn't belive the attitude coming from these "groomers"! A complete lack of respect for the dogs and their owners aswell as for themselves. Now I should have caught on to this when the first incident occured- when I picked my 6lb Toy Poodle up. He was shaking & cowering. Why I didnt stop and REally question what he was saying with his eyes when he looked at me at the time will always hurt me. Perhaps it was due to the at first conversation then turning to extream anger coming from the 'lady' behind the counter. She told me that my dog became so uncontrollable and violent that she would not allow him to come back unless more frequent appt. will be made. Perhaps its because I pay 100.00 and wld always tip 20. every time! Now what the heck did these "groomers" do exactly to my 8year old Toy Poodle who has never shown an ounce of violence towards anything or anyone EVER! After discussing the event with my husband he felt that perhaps it was best we make another appt. b/c we "should listen to the perfessional" Second and final occurrence. They scheduled him on some completely random date than the one I made the last time I was there. I had called in late to work to get him there and when I arrived just to have them inform me they had made a mistake and that they were booked for the day. I had to call my boss to let him know I was going to be even later! The "groomer" proceeded to mention if I was able to pay 100. cash on the spot she would make room for him. I said ok and as I went to car I called boss again to say I was going to be on time. As I walked to my car I peered inside the side room door and realized that I've been droping my dog off to a insane asylum with the white dreary walls & the 'ladys' in there im so incredibly busy yet not really attitude. I fought back this aweful feeling to run and never go back. So I get to handing her the cash when she stops..."oh i will need to make a phone call to his vet make sure he has his kennal cough vac" ReaLly! Riight now your going to do that! Why not mention that to me by phone or the last time I was here? If this really was a "new" policy one wld think they could make a courtesy call informing of this BE4 the appt. Of course he does not have a kenal cough vac! According to my vet dogs only need this vac if it's planned they will be in a kennal for extream long periods of time cross multp days not six hours! WHAT A JOKE ANd had to call my boss AGain to inform him I will be late afteral! I left that day with my 6lb 8 year old toy poodle never to go back! On a side note..researching the 'training' for these "groomers" consits of watching videos in a room no hands on from a professional trainer actually occurs. read more

I was making pet tags located next to the Petco grooming station. For the 15 minutes I was there I heard the groomer (Kim) yell at the dog to "shut up" and "hold still". I asked the girl what her name was and promptly told the manager. The manager seemed to take the complaint seriously, we shall see. I DO NOT recommend taking an animal to Kim to get groomed unless you want to take your pet to counseling afterward. read more

Petco grooming in Napa and too many other locations are not the place to take your beloved pet. Their groomers do not have training in proper grooming, and cannot be trusted to follow safety procedures. This was sadly demonstrated on 12/30/15 when Joe and Cyndi Eaton took Skip and Lucy in to Petco Napa for a nail trim. They were up sold a grooming. Fifty minutes later they got a call to rush to the vet, Skip was dead. Hung to death by a restraint that is used but can never be used unless the groomers hands are on the dog. The restraint was put on Skip and he was left, alone, and now he is gone. Stolen from his family. Petco's handling of the death is unbelievable. Lie upon lie, unanswered phone calls and questions. The district manager promised that Skip's necropsy would be done at UC Davis, it was not. Necropsy Service Group, owned by William Spangler, former UCD vet, performed the necropsy, and the results were "inconclusive". Petco has spun the story, and used the necropsy results to add their own twist to the horrible end. I have done business with Petco for a long time. Petco Santa Rosa, Petco Eureka have been wonderful (never used grooming departments), and I thank them for that, I cannot and will not continue to to business with Petco because I don't do business with dishonest people or businesses, No lies allowed. read more

dddyesterday i bought a $40 device to help keep the dog in the back of my suv and not on the seats. the first thing i noticed when getting it home is that it had been repacked seemingly several times. after trying it i saw why. it does not work. i went back today to take it back and i brought the wrong recipe with me. a very nice person told me i could not get it credited back to my credit card without the receipt. i will never figure out how bad a company can be run that can keep its doors open with this kind of policy. the information is still in their computer but they are barred from retrieving it due to company policy. so i came home and got the proper receipt and will go back but i will never understand why they have this policy. they are going to refund this i will just have to make 2 trips and for that they will lose a customer. go figure. one way they lose a customer and one way they keep one and there is no cost difference to them. a well runs company would know the right answer. an update: found the receipt and took it to the store. they asked me if i had the original credit card and i asked if i didn't what then and they told me they would have to give me a gift card. fortunately i had the original. what does this story say about petco. avoid avoid avoid. they have no interest in customer or satisified customers.s their only interest is in their keeping your money at any cost. the put every road block in your path to a normal refund to force you back into the store. the 2nd rate genius who came up with this idea is pointing to his charts and graphs showing how when you mistreet you customer they come back anyway to use whatever credits they have thus turning a profit on customer service. the opel who approve this at the top dont think about the unseen but still there costs of doing business that way. they lost me as we have another store in napa not so badly run. don't reward such behavior and please don't take it out on the employees as they are very nice and just following a very bad management. read more

There are always dead betta fish and visibly sick ones. A LOT of visible fin rot. There is also been very little selection and one poor guy even had his tail fins broken! The water is always dirty and makes me sad. Also the cats. Poor babies. One had a visible upper respiratory infection! Housed with other kittens. It took me fifteen minutes to get help in aquatics. They were not even busy. It's a joke. Though one lady was very nice and helpful. read more

Nothing special as it is a Petco. Got some feeder fish to start a new fish tank with and two are already dead within 4 days, no surprise there. I didn't see filthy tanks or a lot of dead fish but the live plants they had in containers didn't look all that healthy. read more

My dad took his puppy for dog training there last week and he said he had never been treated so awful in his life! The trainer was extremely rude, condescending and plain nasty to him. She made the entire experience so unbearable he quit the class and never wants to shop at PetCo again. He said he got better tips training his puppy from YouTube videos than from her! read more

I would like to thank Tiffany, who did an awesome job in walking me through everything I needed to know about hamsters!! She spent so much one-on-one time with me and she really knows her stuff. I was very uncomfortable with these little critters, but she helped me pick out a very gentle "older" hamster that she said she was saving for a nice family. He (named Rocky Panda) has been doing great and my 9 year old son was just thrilled with him at Christmas! Tiffany helped me pick out the cage and all of the accesories for the hamster.
