We decided to get a fish tank...then, got a deal on a larger one at Petco so we have 2 tanks with fish. It's been a while since having fish so worked with the staff at Petco to get the needed supplies. They have everything we have needed. All the staff has been really helpful and knowledgeable. We've had fantastic service from Makensay and Wheeler. They are knowledgeable, extremely helpful and so nice. They are always busy yet they are always happy to help you. I really didn't expect the staff at a chain store to be that knowledgeable but the ones working in the department have or have had fish of their own and know what they're doing. I do recommend Petco for fish and aquarium supplies. They are great. read more

We have a super easy pug that needed a good groom after summer, booking was super easy and got him in within the week. Staff were courteous and no issues there dropping off. My husband picked him up and the groomer told him she was not able to do his nails nor did they need it. I've not cut them in 6 months and they are sharp needing done. Hence why I paid to just have him groomed vs doing myself like usual. Paid extra for a bandana, didn't get it. Lastly there is no want he was brushed out as there was a small cars worth of fur in his kennel from the ride home. Money and time wasted since I now have to do his nail's myself and brush him out. Disappointed, go to a different groomer in town. read more

this review is for the grooming dept: today after driving 1.5 hrs (3 hrs rt) for my dog's grooming appt i was told upon arrival they would not be able to service my dog. my complaint is not the reason why but why i wasn't informed BEFORE the day of the appt. petco had PLENTY of time, by phone, text, or email, to let me know i needed a vet's letter of consent to perform the service. wont return. read more

On 7/2/24, my dog had his 8th grooming visit for a bath at this location. I kept waiting for a call to pick him up. As it turns out, the groomer bathed him, put him in a cage, and simply left. She didn't call or tell anyone he was ready. He was there two hours before they sorted it all out. I called customer care. It has been 20 days, and no one has followed up. I went into the Roseburg Oregon store on the 26th of November and tried to buy some cat food. The sign said buy one get the other free. I took it up to the counter and the gal behind the counter a one Joanna said that they don't have that sale anymore and she'd have to check with her manager to see if they will fullfill my request. I think the manager is Candice? not sure. but she said NO. So my gripe is, why the hell even have a sign up if you're not going to honor it? take the DAMN sign down! quit confusing customers. I swear this roseburg petco has had the worst staff in any pet store ive ever visited in 48 states. i blame management. If management isn't doing their part, they need to fired ASAP! i'd like compensation for my bag of cat food. read more

If I could give ZERO STARS I would. We tried buying what was labeled as "Feeder Goldfish" but we were told that putting them in a 1 gallon fishbowl was inhumane and they have the right to refuse service if they felt that our treatment of the "animal" was wrong. HOWEVER, when asked if we were purchasing the fish to feed to another fish, they said they WOULD sell them to us!!! "But not THAT day, because we already know our intended use was going to be. Apparently being eaten alive and dying slowly in the stomach of a predatory fish is ok. But keeping the fish alive (for about as long as one would expect feeder fish to live in the first place) and fed is inhumane!! What a joke. read more

This review is for the GROOMING Dept. Please specify what Dept when you review a generalized store like Petco. It's not fair that groomers get knocked because someone's gold fish died. I took my Australian Shepherd to Petco grooming and they did a fabulous job. A few months ago I received a gift cert for another groomer. So I went there. When I picked her up, her head and neck were still wet. They just said. "Well, she wouldn't stay still." "OH REALLY? No. You just can,t do your job. So it's back to Petco. Petco groomers are courteous and do a great job. You won't be disappointed. They must specialize in difficult dogs. There is also a win dow so everyone can see what they are doing. Nice. read more

We have platy's that have been reproducing in the tank for 7 years that my grandpa left behind before he died of cancer 6 1/2 years ago. We then bought 2 albino algae eaters which were sick, soon later died of Ick leaving the rest of the fish sick with Ick eventually ALL dying in a short period of time. We went back to Petco and instead of taking full responsibility for their sick fish they suggested they give us $4 off our next purchase and then said we had to buy fish medicine that cost $12.99! What kind of a joke is that! read more

I just had to go there to see real, live ferrets for sale in a pet store, especially since they are still illegal in California. There were three ferrets that looked obviously older, probably at least three years old. When I asked the cashier about it she said yeah those are her older ones, but didn't say how old. She asked if we saw the younger ones, but by then I was pretty disgusted that this store would keep the same old ferrets instead of trying to find them a home. i felt so sad for them. I wondered to myself, "Do they even hold them or play with them? How long have they been stuck at this store?" It's things like this that will make ferret legalization in California that much more difficult. :( read more

Don't buy fish here! Especially din't order fish! They will be dead when they get there! The staff won't have any idea you even ordered it and won't notify you either. You will see the fish in tanks are sickly and if you buy them, they badly infect your tank with ick! The cashier and manager is nice though. Staff isn't very knowledgable either! read more

I went in to the Petco to buy my daughter a bearded dragon, and it was a great experience. The girl who helped us was very patient, sweet and knowledgeable of reptiles. She went above and beyond helping us understand everything we needed to know to take care of our beardie once we got it home. I have since been to Petco for crickets numerous times, and have had friendly interactions with all of the staff. read more

I was just in to get a freshwater crab and leave. I wasn't able to find any which is okay because I had seen them other places. When I asked if they had any Incase I had overlooked, I was responded to with, "I haven't seen any, We're pretty close to closing so." I shouldn't be treated passive aggressively for being in a store THIRTY MINUTES before close. read more

Today my husband and i went in to get some frozen thawed rodents for our ball python. which they were out of as usual. So while we were there we decided to go look what reptiles they had in. I noticed that the ball python they had in stock was stuck in shed, and the humidity gauge read 32% (i keep mine at least at 60% while they are in shed) so i pointed it out to my husband. Who got the attention of an employee who said she would let her manager know with very little concern. So he found another lady who snapped at him "that the snake had already been soaked and that he was fine" (the snake had clearly not been soaked) I'm no expert but i do know they don't treat their animals right, and that the attitude of some of the employees is very off putting. read more

The customer service is ok when someone is around the fish tanks. I got marine ick from this place and it killed a $25 fish I had just bought. I had to leave my tank with no fish for 8 weeks because anything that cures it will kill my shrimp and crabs they cycle all there water together so if one tank has it they all have it. The price of crickets is double what you will pay anywhere else. read more

I love the staff at this location! They are friendly and knowledgable, always willing to help. I bought a Betta fish and all the accessories and found the gentleman in aquatics to be very helpful. They also carry the brand of cat food I feed. And they price match! This is the only pet store I go to now! read more

This place sucks. They can't get their dog grooming appointments straight. I've been told several times now that because someone hasn't put my name down in the computer our dog's appointment to get her hair cut can't be completed and to come back later. I've never been told in any customer service job that because of a mistake on the company to basically go screw ourselves and come back again. Seriously do not go here I would give it zero stars if that were an option. read more

I'll have to give this store a bad review. We've been in several times over the past weeks to get our preferred brand of cat litter, but it hasn't been in stock. And every time we ask a clerk when they'll get some it's been "next week". They just don't seem to care. We went elsewhere, paid more, but at least we can get it. I doubt we'll be going back to Petco. read more
