i'd stopped by the pet store tuesday, on the way from going to the gym to picking up breakfast, mainly because of an interest i've had in painting the nails of the dog my mom and i have been watching. that said, the store does not sell pet-friendly nail polish. however, in order to give some regard for the polite, kind customer service given by the worker who opened the store that day, i'd got three dog treat cookies, one for each of the three dogs at the house where i'm living. for the two male dogs, i'd immediately set sight on the ice cream cone shaped treats, with sprinkled frosting in the place of an ice cream scoop, and for the female dog, i selected a green flower-shaped treat, a daisy or an orchid i'd guess specifically, after the same worker who answered the nail polish question showed me a selection of flower cookies available at the counter in addition to those in the display case in line. although the ice cream cone cookies did not break apart easily after separating the ice cream scoop section from the cone section, the larger male dogs did not have a problem eating the somewhat large pieces, and the smaller female dog did not have a problem eating the flower cookies, which i was able to rather easily break apart at the petals into six pieces. and lastly, though i'd not yet thought to ask about such a product during the recent experience, i'm interested to learn if the store sells pet-friendly hair gel, so i'd be able to hold the hair of the female dog in place when she is in a mood to wear the hair on the center of her head styled in a mohawk. read more

Wow, Petco has changed a lot since the last time I went there with my beloved dogs, Jack and Menji, back in 2011 when I didn't like it as much. It looks so much better now! I was surprised to see that they now offer a self-wash service for $20, along with grooming and Vetco services too. I tried to look up Vetco on Yelp, but I couldn't find it. One of the staff members was very friendly and helped me find a product for my senior dog's UTI, but it turned out to be a waste of money, so I took Koko to the vet today. Worst experience ever! My dog shakes every time I took her to their grooming department. It would take 6 hours sometimes and I'd get my dog back with dirty ears and her nails untrimmed. They always mess up my perks and trying to get customer service to add them is a nightmare. I picked up my dog soaking wet one time b/c it was 5 PM and they were closing the grooming department soon, even though she had been there for hours. Do not take your dog here. read more

They woud not sell us a hamster because the manager rudely said they don't sell animals after 7:30 and she wanted to be able to close down and leave at 8 because that is when they close. I went in today after loosing a betta I had purchased a month and a half prior. I was hoping to pick out a new baby to love but was very disappointed by their betta selection. I was appalled to find that most of the bettas had at least 10-20 large food pellets in their cups. 3 bettas had the food stuck in their mouths and one was LITERALLY choking. It made me start to wonder at the health of the fish I have previously purchased from this location as I have lost multiple at this point with no explanation. When I informed the store manager and she was very dismissive and unconcerned with the lack of care given to the bettas. I no longer feel comfortable purchasing bettas at this location. hello, i went to the petco on 41st in tulsa ,OK. around 7pm last night 11/1/2024. First off i went in to get betta food. it shows they had plenty in stock online but with the sale going on they seem to run out what was stock on the shelf. i ask a worker there male scroungy mid 20s with long hair. He didnt care and just gave me story about out theres none. then i shop a round and notice 1/3 for the betta on there last leg fight for there life and i went back and told the guy there two dead rotting away and i also told him that i rescue bettas. and there alot in realy bad health. as soon as i say this he got defensive. i told him i saw one that looked like im able to save and if there was any discount. i wasn't expecting much of a discount but he got supper defensive and siad are betta are well taken care and Quote "WE DO WATER CHANGES ONCE EVERY TWO WEEKS" i told the guy that i rise bettas for a very long time and have experience with them. in such a small cup the water should be changing water daily or at least every other day if there going to be in a cup that small. i really hope that someone sees this and takes action on how poor there customer service and care of there betta fishes. its very disappointing that with such bad experience i see why more and more people shop online now. So nobody has EVER even told me what happens with Petco points. They expire after only 45 days. And you don't get notified at checkout about points or when you have discounts bc you earned enough points etc. You literally have to download an app and figure it out yourself. And they don't tell you because they don't want you to use them. So now, I've been going for YEARS and never once had rewards so I asked like what happens with these supposed points. And, they go away in 45 days so that's really cool. I'll use chewy now. Wtf even is this. What a good gimmick. And if you DO happen to find out on your own about the points system you get the privilege of downloading their app so they can get $ from that too. Awesome. read more

Buying a new pet is supposed to be a very exciting moment, which it was, until I came in to this Petco! We came 45 minutes before closing so we thought it would be okay. The shorter lady with glasses was extremely unfriendly. She asked if we were okay and I said "for now" because we were looking at the hamsters before we picked one. We were looking at the hamsters and she started doing the guinea pigs right next to them, then another employee came and she started bossing him around (she almost sounded frantic..) to do the hamsters (that we were in the middle of looking at). They didn't even say excuse me or anything, just pretty much tried to push us out of the way. I said "we were hoping to look at a few of the hamsters anyway". When I tell you, this lady acted like I ruined and inconvenienced her entire day. She was so unwelcoming and just straight up rude. Anytime she asked me a question, she gave me the dirtiest look. I didn't even get to look at the other hamsters, I just got the first one she got out because I don't even want to know what her reaction would have been if I had asked to look at another one. A huge eye roll and another dirty look I would assume. I just hope she doesn't do this to children coming in for their first pet. Because she most certainly ruined my experience. read more

Been going to Petco grooming now for 7 years. Only had a problem at this location. Customer service department for this massive company will not even address the issue. They advertise a complete list of services covered in the grooming package and they have always ALL been completed. This groomer told me before she even looked at my dog that she was not performing all services. I should have left but I also paid for a cab and needed the rest done. My dog was injured following this visit and also had to pay a vet to do the job they did not do. Not happy with the Company stance on this matter. Petco Vets to the contrary are wonderful. Albeit I paid more for services that the Groomer should have done and as advertised. read more

"If I can do this without a star rating I would" So I go in yesterday and I try to get some goldfish and I got the three then the guy who fished them out took to the front before I purchased I looked at them and there was one dead and one about to die so I said something to the cashier and he went to the back to try to get it fixed and a couple mins go by and he comes back up with the guy who fished out the fish and the one who fished them out said oh you can only use these as feeders or in a pond and if I was I wasn't gonna use dead fish in a pond if I was but I said I have them going in a tank mind you it was only 3 fish and then he said the most dumbest thing ever said oh I can't sell them to you they can't be sold like that buy and Walked away I was like really wtf and the two other employees where both like wait what. Took my 12 week old Bichopoo to be groomed for the first time. I paid for her to get bathed, teethe cleaned, fur trimmed to my specifications and for her toenails to be trimmed and buffed. When I went to pick her up she didn't appear to have gotten trimmed at all. Whatever they sprayed in her was overwhelming which makes me wonder if she was even bathed. I was told by the person who groomed her, that she was only able to trim her nails but couldn't buff them because "she wouldn't let me". I'm sorry but aren't you the professional? When I mentioned getting a discount since my puppy didn't receive all of the services I wanted, I just got a blank stare. The services cost $60 and that's because I signed up for their rewards program which you pay for monthly. Her nails are still just as long as they were when I took her there and there was crust around her eyes which means that her eyes weren't cleaned which is standard. read more

Come here on occasions but when we do were never displeased with anything, I have yet to figure out what is different from Petco & Petsmart...Besides the attached vet (banfield) but i've realized that if your wanting more clothes that this petco will not have it...very limited on clothing for your doggy. Other then the clothes i really love coming here to get my Baby Jasmine treats from their wide selection of doggy treats right when you walk in. This would be my main reason for coming here. The associates are really nice besides a couple (but that's a hit & miss anywhere) Alway's clean and fully stocked on all items...Is a great store to stop at to get your furry families needs met. read more

They refused to sell me feeder goldfish because my tank was 29 gal and I was not feeding them to another creature. Said the 29 gal would be bad for the fish and their intestines would grow bigger than the fish and it would be bad for the fish. These were 1/2" fish. Hmmmm, I guess feeding them to Oscars or turtles is better for the health of the $.36 fish. I was irrate and persistent and got my fish after arguing. I will never go back to a Petco again. I have read on the internet where they throw live animals in the dumpster, i.e. iguanas and guinea pigs. Guess that's better for the animal's well-being, also. read more

Went to Petco to get itch shampoo and toys with my friend for his dog. We went and left and went to dinner. Got home around 7:15 and realized that we were missing a bag. Rushed back to the store and got there at 7:30 and since it's Sunday it closes at 7. The workers were kind enough to let us in and get the bag we left even though they were closed! Not bad. It's actually the only place to get the better dog food like Blue Wilderness and a few other grain-free options. The prices are comparable to Southern Agriculture store (which we also like their grain-free dog food but they don't carry as many brands or varieties as petco). The Merrick food is what we're using now. The staff is friendly and available for questions. The bathrooms could use a remodel but kept clean. The adoption days are plentiful and the variety of cats and dog brought in is pretty good. (the adoption prices are a bit extreme but it's a WHOLE lot better than puppy mill buys). Good cat food selection (again, grain-free option is better for my 2 cats - they don't spit up as many hairballs.) read more

I was going to get everything after I got that from him so I could look around more but he wouldn't get it out until I had everything he thought I needed. When we brought this to the attention of the clerk. They said they do not match their own websites prices. To which we were very confused.
