Unless you are a white straight man or woman, I do not recommend this place to get your pets groomed right off the bat when she saw me and my partner (gay ) she immediately was giving stuck up If I could give a zero star I would, but I would not recommend anyone to take their cat or their dogs to get groomed. I went to go take my cat but prior to take them. I made an appointment and I called and they said that they would be able to take in my cats, even if they had fleas but Taylor, the receptionist or the cat groomer made us waste our time and said that they couldn't take the cat in because unfortunately she had fleas so why tell the person on the phone that they can take them in and then make us drive 30 miles for no reason for them to just turn us away and then plus to add on top of it. She had a snobby attitude and she was very racist and a snob when I handed her my papers for my cats rabies shots documents she threw the paper at me very rude and disrespectful. read more

This place was a really great experience save one interaction and witnessing mistreatment. The employees of this store were all very kind and helpful except one, funny enough, the one being their store manager. I went in to get dog food for my pup and was greeted kindly at the front and when I asked one of their retail associates where to find the dog food i use they walked me all the way to my specified brand instead of just pointing and giving an isle number like most large pet stores. Unfortunately i can't remember the name of the helpful employee because after she showed me to my dog food her very self important manager pulled her away for a private talk. I overheard a part of their conversation and the manager was treating this poor girl as if she was the dumbest human to walk the earth. At a certain point he told her "I don't understand how all you guys f*ck up so often and leave me to pickup the pieces you guys need to get your heads out of your a**" After hearing him speak to his employee this way I asked the front desk checkout what their manager's name was (Travis) and let them know that he should not be treating his employees like lesser people and they should complain to their HR department if they have one. Travis, if you read this, do better. Your job is to make your employees feel comfortable and confident, a leader needs to be trustworthy. If your employer is seeing this, I've owned and run businesses myself, and managers like these will destroy your profits and employee morale. As an owner you should make it your priority to have the best possible managers for your employees and the safest possible environment for all of them to work in. read more

Poor Customer Service, after making an appointment to get my Dog/puppy Groomed for the 10th time there, they didn't get it done! I made my appointment 2 weeks in advance, brought my 10 month old dog in for a full wash and cut package! Dropped him off and spent 10 mins going over what we wanted done, basically a full Groom, short cut! My Dog is 8 lbs ( Yorkie ) and has been there at least 10 times getting groomed! He has a very thick coat! Dropped him off and 45 mins later get the automated message he was ready for pick up! Never had it been 45 mins for full Groom, usually 3 hours! Bottom line the new Groomer tells me, my Dog is aggressive and was bitting her so she refused to Groom him, but did charge me for a Bath and Comb out! WTF, $50 for what, a bath and Comb? I told them they should have called me, told me before doing any he bath because I would have said NO and done it myself at home! They made me pay or would give me my Dog! Then told me I needed to find another place to bring my Dog, after being a long time customer and shopper there! Bottom line, got another appointment at PETSMART down the street who did the full Groom and had NO issues what so ever! They were also cheaper and much for friendlier! If you do go to Petco, don't use Taylor, she is a horrible Groomer and Manager! read more

Just completed my dog Zeus' fundamentals class. Zeus learned a variety of commands and Kristin offered so many tips that were super helpful. This store used to be great but now it's a joke. I signed up for a packaged training and since the trainer went on leave my puppy could not start his second training. The store manager refused to give me a refund for the remaining trainings and still won't provide me a date of training. The store manager lacks customer service skills and does not care what the best interest is for you or your pets. I've been waiting just about a month now for some resolution with this and nobody even contacts me back. I feel sorry for the few good workers at the store who have to work under such lousy management. Don't let them take your money too and sign up for training elsewhere! read more

ivy just finished her training and graduated her fundamentals class. 10/10 recommend booking an appointment with Kristin if your having a hard time controlling your fury friend or getting them to listen. Had a wonderful and fun lesson every time we showed up for class. Kristin not only cares about your dog but she cares about you as well and always makes sure to check in on how you are doing before class starts because training is always difficult and sometimes stressful. She helped me get Ivy out of her ignoring phase to her focused and listening phase. I now have way more ease and control over getting her to listen read more

I have literally bred fish and donated them to this store back in 2018/2019. But after today I will never shop Petco ever again. New staff, new faces, no problem. Contradict your store policy and sell me fish that don't last 2 hours and you can't even give me store credit? just a ho-hum tough luck, manager said no refund. Every time I've been here in the last 2 years, it has been a good experience. The staff is patient and kind. In fact, I'm amazed at how much they went above and beyond when I had to exchange a bag of food (no fault of petco), only to find out that they were out of the one I usually get. I was able to exchange it for one that was similar but my dog would NOT eat it for 3 days. Went back today expecting to have to get a new bag but nope, accepted my return and let me take a new bag of food. Pete the manager is always willing to help and Laura the cashier today was incredibly patient. I intentionally like coming in store to check out new goodies for my fur babies but the friendly staff is def a huge plus. read more

Literally no employees to be found. Throughout the entire time I was there with my husband and dog, there were a minimum of 6 people in line. I was in the store easily almost an hour. The cashier, Laura, was extremely frustrated being all alone. Her lack of teamwork from her fellow coworkers is most likely what caused her to double charge me for a toy. I drove nearly an hour for this? I'll be sure to go to your competition a couple blocks over. At least there I can find more than one employee, get helpful service, and leave with a smile on my face... Oh yeah, y'all didn't even give me a bag. Zero stars!! I hate throwing the word racist but this place sure did feel like it was discriminating towards me. I took my fur baby to get groomed. I had told them to call me when she's done. Got her for a cut and bath. Over 3 hrs, I never received a call. I had to call, just for them to tell me she's been done. When I went to go pick her up the guy at the desk told me to pay at the check out first then wait for them bring my dog to me.I waited by the windows. I see a groomer finishing up a pit bull. Her owner (which happens to be white) was handed her pit bull. At that point, I was waiting for over 10 minutes. I had asked her did she had to pay for her to get her pit(I only asked because I seen her walk in). She said no. She's heading to the checkout right now to pay. They groomers seen me waiting. I went to the desk and asked for my dog politely. After asking, I heard the groomer say "OMG" like he was annoyed. If I didn't have paid already I wouldn't have left him a tip. My question is why did I have to pay first before I got my dog? It's not the first time my baby's been there. Why didn't I get the same treatment as that nice white women?? Did they think I was going to take my dog and run without paying?? Never again will I take my baby to get groomed. Poor customer service from them. Now the store staff is a different story. I can't remember the guys name at the moment, but every time I go to the store this man always helps me and my boyfriend no matter what the animal is lol. Good thing! Purchased an opened fish tank that was supposed to have everything included. The manager assured us that there were no other sealed boxes of the tank in back. The manager verified that the box had everything in it. Got home and set up our new fish tank, it was missing a cable for the lighting. That same manager smiled and said we had to empty and disassemble the entire tank and return it if we wanted the cable. It just so happened that she found another unopened tank in the back. It was easier to buy a replacement cable from Amazon. Well played Petco manager....... read more

My dog has been going to the groomers for the past 2 years. He went through the petco puppy class and the trainer had recommended that we got him acclimated since he was more on the anxious side. My dog was a regular and went to his monthly grooming apt for 2 years. He is a German shepherd and is anxious, but his previous groomer (Devon) was extremely patient with him. They gave me reports at every apt and informed me he was vocal at first, but settled down after. He had been attacked when he was a puppy and injured his paw, so that area is always sensitive and they would skip the nail trim. His main groomer left petco over the summer, but I didn't think it would be a major concern until recently. My dog became more anxious each time he went, so I always followed up after every apt to ask how he was. There was never a complaint. Even on the grooming report! In November ( his last grooming apt), I received a call that this was the last time they would provide services because they had a difficult time. I got off the phone and quickly went over to pick him up. The first thing I asked was if my dog bit or snapped at anyone. They said no. He was just giving them a hard time and wouldn't let them trim his nails. The groomer mentioned one of the guys (first time seeing him) had to hold him down. I was so upset when I heard this because I could only imagine how scared my dog was. No one has ever had to hold him down, and if they had read their notes, they would have known he was extremely sensitive around his paw area. He has always skipped nail trims due to this. Another groomer chimed in and stated this occurred twice before, and I looked straight at her and said, "that's a lie!" I always always ask how he is after each grooming session and there was never ever a complaint. I was so upset about the lying, lack of communication, and the trauma they put my dog through. It all made sense to me... my dog had been extra anxious about going to the groomers and his previous groomer had left petco. Her name was Devon and she was truly amazing!! If you have an anxious dog... please please do not take them there! read more

This is only based on our experience with Fish we had bought last week (8/22/21). We already had 3 blue Guppies and another bigger fish we got from PetSmart but we wanted a couple pretty colorful ones, which Petsmart didn't have a good variety of, so we decided to go to Petco. They actually had a bunch of colorful fish and decided on two elephant tailed Guppies. We did what we were suppose too waiting about 30 mins to add them in our new tank. I know now I should have added them to a smaller tank and treated for illness. But we added the fish and everything seemed great. They were a great addition and got along right away with the other fish. That night about 10 pm we went to turn the light off a saw one of the new fishes we just got was dead!!! NOT EVEN A DAY but all the other fish were fine!! We took it out and returned it to the store that Tuesday ( 8/24/21) I decide to just get another one and talked to the lady working the fish center who said sometimes fish look fine but are sick. So I took our new fish home and the next day noticed the original fish we first gone had a long white string from his under body. And was swimming on the bottom and getting stuck in the bottom corners head dow, and also hiding all the time. Later in the day after trying to figure out what was going on and what it might be I saw it wa stuck again in the corner but wasn't moving so I went to move it and out came that string which had a parasite which dropped to the gravel. I used suction tool to grab it and ordered medicine. The next couple days we noticed the new fish we just got started swimming weird and wouldn't eat, we didn't see the other fish, figuring it was still just hiding. Until Saturday night when we saw the yellow fish was dead on the gravel. PISSED!!!! We used the net to remove it and had to move our big hiding rock which had the other fish is DEAD TOO but already half gone which means it died days earlier. Took both fish back to Petco and got a refund. The lady asked us if we wanted to get new fish and I said I WOULD NEBER!! WE WENT THROUGH 3 FISH IN 3 DIFFERENT TABKS AND ALL 3 DIED. She then asked if we wanted our water tested and I said we have 4 othe fish in the tank doing just fine still. . SO BEWARE OF BUYING FISH HER. we had three fish from 3 different tanks and all 3 died in less than a week. Now we have one our our original blue Guppies acting sick and not eating and it's heartbreaking. Hoping the medication we ordered gets here soon so we can save it. read more

She has the worst attitude. If you don't like speaking with people you should get a different job, flipping burgers behind a stove where you can't bother customers with your foul attitude and eye rolls. Then after I paid and went to the dog tag machine, she stood behind me and THREW the baskets into where they go (next to me) instead of walking up and putting them down like a normal employee would. As if to make a point of how angry she was that I asked how I can check my Petco Pet points. She should use that angry energy to hit the gym instead of make customers go to PetSmart instead. I used to go to Petsmart for all my dogs' needs but they weren't treated very nicely at the grooming department so I decided to come to Petco after hearing multiple friends say Petco is better... so I took my dogs to the groomers there and I was very pleased with their skills and how they treated my dogs - very caring. However, the customer service is not at the standards the groomers are at. My sister and I went to purchase my dogs' food, Whole Earth Farms, which is a popular brand since it was sold out each time I went to Petco. When I needed assistance I asked a young man who was restocking dog food in the next aisle, but he told me to not ask him questions or for his help. What kind of employee says that? We were caught in disbelief but I ignored him and we left the store. Then I recently went back to Petco because I got a palsrewards coupon in the mail that only works in store (not online). The store didn't carry the exact bag of food on the coupon so I went to an employee for assistance, who went to the manager to help answer my question about honoring the coupon. But according to the manager the coupon won't work in their system??? AND told me to use it online. They didn't even read the fine print on the coupon. So I left and later that day needed to go to Clovis so I stopped by the petco on Ashlan and Blackstone. The first employee there had no issues honoring me the coupon...and she was more than happy to assist me. I am pretty disappointed in the employees here at the Visalia Petco... They seem incompetent. I wanted to bring my two dogs here to get their vaccines. Prior to coming, I called the store, because I was used to Petcos having the Vetco clinic. Since I didn't see that the Vetco clinic was at this particular location online, I called to inquire. The man who helped me out over the phone was very helpful and explained to me that Luv My Pet was what they had, which was part of the same company as Vetco. He also told me when the next clinic day was, which I was thankful for; otherwise, I would have missed it. I arrived at around 10:30 AM an waited in line. There were a few people ahead of us with a total of about five or six dogs. While waiting, I received a clipboard to fill out the dogs' information. I noticed that it was taking a while to move up in the queue, but I didn't mind since I was in no rush to be anywhere else. However, I'd recommend getting here ASAP if you have a bunch of errands to run. The lady working the clinic came up and verified everything I filled out. She also apologized for the long wait. She was very friendly and so kind to my dogs. When we finally got up to see the vet, the vet handled my pets well and did his best to make my dogs comfortable. After they received their vaccinations, I paid right away at the next table over. Before leaving, a Blue Buffalo representative approached me and asked to pet my dogs. She asked about the food I feed them, to which I replied Blue Buffalo. She gave me a thank you card, which had instructions on how to get a coupon for my next Blue Buffalo purchase. I haven't actually shopped around yet, but the store is spacious and looks clean. I wouldn't mind browsing around some day to see what they have. read more

I just had such a wonderful experience here with my dog. She is a cocker spaniel who is terrified of the hair dryer. Jenene was the best groomer with her and so patient. They are wiling to work with me to help my dog get a good grooming experience. We found she does just fine if I try her and then let them groom her. Have not had such great experience with Pet Envy. I have been a Petco customer for many years. However, when I needed them they failed me. I was out of dog food, and placed an order for 1-2 day delivery. On the 2nd day, I received notice that it would be a week before it would arrive! I contacted customer service (an India call center!), and the call agent said that it's only 1-2 days depending on where you live and if there any exclusions. When I placed the order, there was no indication that there were all these excuses for them not to deliver within 1-2 days! I asked to speak to a supervisor, and after 10 minutes I was disconnected!!! I will never order from Petco again! read more

I have always had issues with my fish and always went to petsmart. They never really helped me and I always lost fish. I went to petco hoping to get some help with the issues I was having in my tank. I spoke to an employee named Erica about my issues. She told me she was the fish expert and explained that I had a parasite in my tank, which explained why I lost so many fish. She was very helpful and explained everything to me. I have continued to go to her for advice not just because we have the same name, but because she really knows her stuff. You will always see Erica in the fish area helping multiple people at a time. read more

Well we have had our pup groomed for years. I like when the team listens to the client it makes sense. We gave a try with Benji our Toodle Terrier. Other groomers asked what we wanted but could not figure it out .. Kristal did make our pound puppy Benji look like a handsome little buddy that he is. Not well stocked, unfriendly, unhelpful staff, lots of dead and sick animals and plants on display. The store is consistently poorly staffed. Employees knowledge is lacking and their faith in their employer absent for obvious and easily discerned reasons. It's never a good sign to walk into a store and be greeted by malcontent employees eager to trash talk their employer and blatantly skirting company policies. Not sure what more can be said, these chains should be selling dry goods only. Wish I could say this is the only bad petco, sadly I haven't been to a good one yet and the problem seems to be trickling down from the top.
