One minute the pet was here. Next minute it wasn't. So where did the Petgo? This is a very handy pet store right near the intersection of Main and Transit. It's in a big Plaza with a lot of other big stores but it's not too awful to get into. Sometimes. At other times it is pretty awful. Just depends on the day. They're not cheap at all but neither are PetSmart. Barbie likes the store a lot: Petco is great. It's not my favourite pet store, but it does the job when needed. Fox needed to find some kitten food, and this place has a good selection. The kittens were satisfied. The prices are a bit high, compared to Walmart. But I prefer this store, and it has a much bigger selection. read more

The customer service at the Petco in Williamsville and the Petco in Amherst is outstanding :-) I cannot say enough good things about it. This afternoon I called the Williamsville location to see if the loaches I was waiting for were in stock - Melissa in the aquarium department was so pleasant and helpful on the phone, even as the store was clearly very busy. I stopped in the store after work during rush hour and Melissa was again just above and beyond helpful. I had just missed a 50% off aquarium sale - but she let me know approximately when I can look out for the next 50% off sale - so I will not miss it this time. Melissa also took quite a bit of her time to discuss 2 of my aquarium set-ups (I have 10 aquariums and I always appreciate advice and tips as I am learning). She is very knowledgeable. I have a lot of bettas and cichlids - and we were discussing caves and hiding spots. She recommended trying out hamster/guinea pig plastic tubes as another affordable option, on top of the rocks/driftwood/caves I already have. What a great idea! As long as I have been into aquariums - that had never even occurred to me. Thank you, Melissa :-) My African Dwarf Frogs especially love the plastic tunnels/tubes I added to their tank. I added them to 3 of my other tanks and the loaches, bettas, and cichlids love the new hiding spots as well. In addition- Petco has an awesome aquarium plant selection! A lot of the staff at Petco have multiple pets - as do I - and it is always a fun experience to talk with employees at Petco who are as passionate about their pets as I am. I had a great conversation with the girl at the check-out this evening as well. I was buying a gecko screen cage along with my aquarium supplies - and she also had recently added a gecko to her pet family - so we discussed what we had learned so far, tips on holding geckos when they are young, and so on. Also - they matched the online price for me when I bought the cage, since I wanted to see it in the store before I decided to buy it. Everyone who works at this Petco is just so friendly and helpful - and there is always a manager nearby for additional or complicated questions. This goes for the Amherst location as well. I visit both locations frequently, and would recommend shopping at both of them for any of your pet needs. read more

Customer service or lackthereof was upsetting. Asked one of the 3 petco employees near the entrance for help getting a live mouse. None seemed interested in completing this task, and one walked off to see if she could get someone else to do it. All three employees went behind the registers and chatted for 20 minutes, then walked right past me to go chat somewhere else. No one ended up helping me and I left dumbfounded. I've come here for both dog grooming and to shop and have had pleasant experiences for both. Nicole groomed my dog and she was great! My dog is a poodle mix so grooming and styling him takes a trained professional groomer (I know because whenever I try to groom him myself, he looks terrible), and Nicole did a great job with my many styling requests. They also make booking appointments a lot easier now, because you can do it through the app. I have also had a great experience shopping here. They price match with prices on Petco.com, and make the whole process very easy. All of the store associates I've encountered are super friendly. I like it here. They match Chewy.com prices or any competitors- so I just go there because I'm sick of petsmart and this is closer to me and they've been very nice. Minus one employee who refused to cash me out with Chewy prices and then was told to do so after causing a bit of a scene in her end. But, everyone has bad days. Overall - they have what I need and want at the prices I want them at! If they redid their grooming section I may take my dog there, but, I wouldn't as is. read more

This petco is awesome. They have a nice fish area display complete with " ocean and seagull" sounds. They even have a small selection of salt water fish and soft corals. Other Petco stores can be hit or miss for their fish areas. All their fish also looked healthy. Friendly service and the best thing ever was that they had ferrets. My friend and I came in here tonight (not the first time for me) while others in our group were making a purchase from Best Buy. For a while, things seemed kind of on the up and up. We were a little concerned that there were two cats left unattended in the pet grooming area, but who the hell knows. What happened after really pissed me off, though. We were looking at this adorable green-cheeked conure parrot, watching him show off for us, and all was pretty great. Something was bugging me though, so I turned around, and noticed two female Petco employees, obviously using a toy laser on us, and making fun of us. Yeah, I was a disgruntled early 20's retail employee too, once. But never, never did I actively pull that kind of shit on a customer. Wanna know why? Because even at the tender young age of retail, I still knew that being a total jackass would get me canned. Maybe my friend's hair wasn't properly teased and Herbal Essences hairsprayed out to high school standards. Maybe my stripey knee socks (which I love) don't make the grade in homeroom. But that's not our problem now, is it? And these Petco bitches weren't even in high school. Too bad they acted like it. Came in here for a pooper scooper since neither Marshall's nor TJMaxx had them (where I got my now broken scooper). Found a squeaky Kong toy on clearance for $3, originally $12.99! Alright! Considering how my little dog loves to destroy toys (even Kongs!), I didn't mind having to part with $3 and some change even if it was torn apart in a few hours. Found the pooper scooper area... The same exact scooper I got at Marshall's last year for $7.99 was $31.99 here!!!! Blew my mind! There's no way I'm spending that much on a tool that picks up my dogs excrement! No way!!! I left without a scooper (will have to search elsewhere) but with a cute toy for $3. Baby dog has already ripped the nose off of the toy and it's a hard Kong... Just what I expected... The prices here are laughable. The corporate bubbas charge the premium MSRP for everything. If you are going to pay full price, then you certainly should STOP right now and go to one of the great local pet shops. There are two wonderful local pet stores in Elmwood Village and Markheim Pets in Amherst. BTW, local pet stores often charge less than retail to remain competitive. Other than that, the location was big. But seeing how I only have a dog the other 50 bah-jillion items and large retail space doesn't mean much to me, unless I also wanted to be "THAT girl" with the snake/lizard, mouse, beta fish, cat (s), parakeet, and chinchilla also hanging out at the apartment. read more

SQWEEEEE! The G-Unit and I went on a date to PetCo on Sunday. First we hit up the treat bar for some mocha chip cookies, then meandered* over to the leash section and chatted up a Great Dane pup. Melissa and Amanda are always available to help me out in the store and the rest of the staff is also very friendly! Tineya the dog trainer hosts a very fun puppy playtime, for my pup, of course. This Petco is clean and pet friendly. You can bring your pet with you while you shop. They have little stations with poop bags in case there is an accident. They do have grooming services as well. Usually when I'm in here I see somebody with a cute puppy but they don't carry puppies for sale or kittens for sale because I guess that's against the rules but they do have fish birds and hamsters read more

Omg where do I begin . I am a petco customer from California. I came to Williamsville while visiting my family. I came to the grooming part and Mayra Rodriguez attended me and my boy Teddy. She was really kind to him and talked to him lovingly. I didn't know the petco computers had my dog's information from all the way over here! I was a little nervous since Teddy doesn't do well with people he doesn't know and he isn't very good for haircuts. He took incredibly well to Mayra! She conducted a 7 point check in which she showed me he had some dandruff. His ears were matted since he was wearing a cone for a while. After a super good bath(he came out so soft, clean, and smelling fresh) and a super good haircut, my baby looks good and most likely feels even better. The report she gave me made me feel so happy! He was very good! I wish I could have Mayra as my regular groomer! Next time I'm in New York I'm definitely going to have Teddy groomed by her only she's so amazing! She's also an amazing manager putting her customers first! I highly recommend Mayra! She has a lot of years of experience and is super professional plus my baby loved the treats she recommended for his bad skin and joints. Can't stop raving about her! read more

I have been in the store a few times this month and complained to corporate that never contacted me. I had a coupon Ann refused to take and was rude eating donuts at the registers. I went to look for help and a girl Amanda was texting on her phone in the middle of the store and walked to the back. I asked her for help but she kept walking no one else was around to help. I've been to several different petco grooming salons and this one has got to be the best one by far. I was helped by Mayra. Very sweet and loving. She answered all my questions as I had explained to her my previous experiences at other locations. She assured me that all my dog's (Xena) needs would be taken care of and she would make sure the experience would be positive for myself and Xena. Indeed it was! She gave Xena a great report card and smelled amazing after her spa day. Also, the adorable little bow was a great touch of detail. You can tell she enjoys pampering our furry little companions. I am a weekly shopper at pet stores and I have been here numerous times, and each time I go there it is the same old thing. Customer service is horrible!!! You walk in the store the employees don't even acknowledge you. The one day I waited about 20 min to get crickets. Many employees walked by and made eye contact with me and when I tried to get there attention they just kept on walking. I ended up going to the cashier and they paged someone. Another time I had a question about a chemical for a tank. I needed to know if it was safe to use in my acf tank and the guy that i found he didn't find me told me it was fine. Brought it home and thought about it so I called the number on the back of the bottle and the very nice women told me that she would not recommend it all cause frogs skin is so thin. So I ended up taking it back with no problem. 1 last time I seen a acf in a tank I decided to get her. I went to go look for someone while 2 people were cleaning tanks. I found a manager I told her that I want that frog she looked at me with an attitude and told me that they get really big, I told her I know. She said something else that I don't remember and I told her I probably know more about them than you do for instance they are not suppose to be in gravel or eat fish food! She looked at me and said you want me to just scoop it? I said yeah! While she took my frog out of the tank and bagged her, not another word was spoken to me. Petco is closer to my house, however I will go the extra mile in a half down the road to a pet store that realizes that customers are the only reason they are open. read more
