Have been here plenty of times for sushi and it's always great! The service and ambiance are excellent. This review is specifically for the poke bowl. It was very good, but I really can't justify getting it again for the price. The base price of $14 for the spicy tuna bowl (or any other bowl) gets you a bowl of rice and one small scoop of spicy tuna and your choice of some free veggie toppings. To add on another scoop to get to a regular amount of protein is $3.39, which gets you to $17.39. To add on crispy onion (along with several other toppings) was another $1, so now $18.39. I skipped adding crunch for another $1 because I just couldn't keep adding on. 1 spicy mayo was free, but to add a second one was .50 so we're at $18.89. And it was TINY. Like an appetizer size. It was very good but the pricing is unfortunately not such that I can buy this on a regular basis. read more

The stand out items were sunomono krab salad (surprisingly), hamachi jalapeño, the tuna tower, and the scallop handroll. Full-priced mediocre sushi, lousy service and all the ambiance of a Waffle House. The sushi and sashimi was middling. Eel nigiri was good, tuna sashimi was thin cut, yellowtail tasteless and not fully sliced so that the pieces had to be separated and the yumi yami roll was light on roe and loosely rolled. But it took a long time to be served. That's okay, because my sunomono salad was dropped in front of me with no set up. This gave me time to walk over to the front desk and interrupt the waitress and hostess from their important texting and request a pair of chopsticks. They should have known that request was coming because I already had to ask for a glass for my beer. The chopsticks were as cheap as they come - short & narrow - not even a decent disposable pair. What kind of sushi restaurant doesn't have decent chopsticks? I guess the same one that expects you to guzzle from a bottle. When the sushi did come, the server dropped the plate in front of me backwards, and then ambled over to a side counter for a setup and napkin. The "glitter bar" looked like a fifth grade art project, and the bathroom has seen better times. Cannot recommend and would not repeat. Ever. read more

I am already dreaming of going back. We visited around 5 pm on a Friday and it was easy to get a seat. We sat at the glittering sushi bar and both sushi chef's were friendly and kind. My 11 year old was with me and it was his 2nd time there. He kept talking about how much he wanted to get the Thai -ice-tea again. I tried a sip and it was very sweet and tasty. We really enjoyed this for our first dinner in the area. We shared the crab Rangoons, I got the MAGIC SHRIMP KRAB roll, and my mom got the build your bowl with tempura shrimp. I went on a Friday evening, and the place was fairly busy and nearly full, but service was still quick! My group of 3 got 5 sushi rolls and a poke bowl and were reasonably full from the food. Total cost was $80 without tip. Their menu was nicely labeled with raw and veggie options, and the poke bowls are customizable and can be made vegan. I designed my own poke bowl ($12) with fried tofu and a variety of veggies. The rice and tofu were warm while the rest was room temp. The tofu had a slight crunch on the outside and was nice soft on the inside. Finally a good sauce is a must to tie everything together! The sushi rolls with meat can get pricey ($15 each) for only 4-8 sushi, but the veggie sushi was only $6. However it was bland on its own, so I enjoyed it with soy sauce for some flavor. What a treat! I have been craving Poke all week and went earlier this week for lunch only to be so sad to find out they open at 2:00! That's okay, because it was worth the wait. We went on Thursday night for dinner and were greeted warmly with a smile. Service was excellent. Everyone was very nice and helpful and pitched in. The place was a fun and casual atmosphere and you would be at home in shorts and a T-shirt for sure. We started off with the spring rolls which were so good! I hate to review this place; there are so few around here that aren't already tourist traps! Very good sushi that isn't smothered in mayo or other nonsense. The staff are friendly and the prices are fair. We sat at the sushi bar and the chef was very kind to our teens, even sharing extra pieces with our son. The fried shrimp head on the amaebi was one of the best I've had, and I love it when they offer a quail eye on the masago. Yum! It's a tiny joint next to a 7-11 -- very low key and unassuming, as many of the best sushi places are. Don't go for a view or romantic meal, just go to eat well. Re-visiting review; Poké Bowls at Pete's Sushi & Poke are still as good as they were when they had first opened! We hit up "Pete" at least monthly as locals for a delicious and healthy Poké Bowl. Our favorite base is the brown rice and protein is Spicy Salmon or the Tempura Shrimp being a close second. We typically like to start with a Sushi Roll as an appetizer as they in our opinion are the best around!. The Mexican Roll, JB or Tampa Roll are regulars for us and an occasional "Specialty" Roll such as the Jalapeño Popper or Fire Man. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, the food fresh & dee-licious and pricing reasonable. A popular small side item for the hungrier visit is the Seaweed Salad, the taste is just delicious. Pete's recently opened a second location at 140th & Gulf Blvd known as Mad Beach Poké for build your own bowls takeaway or eat in. The atmosphere at Pete's is a new-age Asian fusion, is always clean, light and refreshing. So. Good! Our family loved this place. The service was excellent on a packed house night. We started with Krab Rangoon appetizer and it was simply delicious! My 3 teenagers got poke bowls and they each loved them. I got the tuna tower and it was amazing. The tuna was exceptionally fresh and cold and was balanced so nicely by a little spice. Just the right amount of heat. I also got the red dragon roll and it was equally delicious. Literally everything we ordered was delicious, fresh, colorful, and beautifully presented. You will only get what you ask for, and you will work for that. Had to turn 180 degrees to give my drink order. Repeatedly had food passed within inches of my nose. As far as sushi spots, Pete's sushi needs to be at the top of your list! The restaurant is small, maybe 10 tables with sushi bar seating as well. But the flavors and presentation, the customer service is amazingly bigger than its walls! Just an awesome spot. Especially being right across the street from the best beaches in the state, you can not not come here! This was our second trip to Pete's. We were seated immediately upon walking through the door. I got the squid salad (think ceviche, but with squid! So good!!) and the Mrs got the ginger salad. We also ordered 5 rolls and all were devoured! So good, so fresh!
