I purchased a 16' piece of 2 x 6' which I needed cut to eight specific lengths. The "yard" worker…read morelooked through many pieces of wood to find a half decent piece that would work. He was able to to cut the length into shorter pieces with a circular saw, but he was confused and asked me how to cut the width of the pieces on the table saw. I had to show him how to measure them and then put them through the saw. He was clueless, and I had to stop short of doing it myself, which I think he might have let me do! Very nice guy, but SPL&H should train him before he gets hurt on one of these machines. This was a red flag and the first indication of the lack of professionalism relating to the owners and staff of Somers Point Lumber & Home. A day later, I returned, because I needed one of the pieces trimmed again. When I asked at the store counter, both the rep and owner flatly refused to help me! With a very dismissive and insulting response, they told me "it's against NJ State rules and OSHA" and whatever other bullsh*t they could think of. I was amazed at their attitude and dismissal of my request. This place is unprofessional and they don't care about their customers. On the other hand, the staff at Home Depot in Egg Harbor lumber department were attentive, helpful and professional. I always prefer to support a local business over a national brand store, but with Somers Point Lumber & Home... NEVER again!! My advise, don't waste your time/money at Somers Point Lumber & Home!

I visited Lomax in Mays Landing on Sunday, 7/24 to look at replacing my hardwoods floors in home I…read morerecently purchased. During my visit, I spoke with a salesman about flooring options and next steps if I wanted to go with one of the tile flooring options. I was told I needed to set-up an appointment with Dave, the contractor for a measurements + an estimate. I am really not a fan of businesses that like to farm out their contracting to outside parties because things never seem to go smoothly when the company isn't involved in the entire process. I received a call from Dave, on Monday 7/25 at 4:12 pm. He asked if he could swing by. I explained that the home we recently purchased is an hour away from where we live currently and I wasn't in the area. I was over an hour away at my other home. I asked Dave if we could set up an appointment for Thursday. Dave said we could. I received a call from Dave on Thursday at 11:58 pm. He told me he had just wrapped up a job and he was available for the rest of the day. I asked if 2 pm was good. He told me 2 pm wouldn't work. At this point, I am thinking I have to be on candid camera because he just told me he was available, but when I mentioned a time, the time didn't work. So, I told Dave I would be available the next day, which was Friday between 2:30-4:00 pm. When did Dave call?? 5:45 pm on Friday. Needless to say, I visited Lomax today to obtain a refund for services not rendered. I don't think Lomax is a bad place to buy flooring from. However, I do believe that they are losing customers and business because of their contractors lack of professionalism

Pat knew this, and knew I couldn't source through him, but was extremely helpful and knowledgeable showing me around the store. He helped educate me on the differences between the options I've already selected, helped order me samples to see the difference in shades, and helped explain that Lomax is the price leader and will match competitors up to 150% with free install over a certain sq footage.... I think that was the right number? He even explained that lots of new construction owners will go with standard included options and hire Lomax to rip out and install superior products cheaper than what the builder would have charged. Really impressed with his level of support, and plan to follow up to put flooring in our unfinished spaces.
