Both the tech and vet listened carefully to everything I said and understood exactly the amount and type of care I want for my elderly dog. No one tried to push unwanted tests, but they did cover many levels of care so I could decide for myself, and their care for their patients was obvious, too. We had moved to Sonoma this year from our longtime home in Seattle and had scheduled an appointment with SVPC to renew meds and a check up. We knew Lucy had been declining in health in the last few years, including g a noticeable loss of weight. Stepping on The scale at the office confirmed an alarming weight loss. Dr Mercado, who I believe is a visiting vet, gently examined Lucy. Upon completion, she noted possible internal issues, as well as her inability to raise and lower herself without great effort. She indicated she could prescribe pain meds to help and also compassionately suggested that euthanasia could also be considered. While agonizing, my wife and I agreed that the time was right to move forward with letting Lucy go. We were allowed to grieve with her for awhile before Dr Mercado came into to administer the drugs. She explained fully what was to occur and exhibited such wonderful empathy and compassion. Dr Mercado and the staff at SVPC made a very painful process as easy as possible for us. We are truly grateful for their concerns for both Lucy and us.

It was heartbreaking, and completely avoidable with competent, compassionate care. They usually do this in front of the client - and so taking him in the back and hearing this prolonged screaming from a cat who is the most loving - jump in strangers laps, LOVING being .... I have never in my life experienced anything like that. The staff? Rude, cold, and completely indifferent. When I questioned the inflated charges and surprise add-ons, they were openly hostile and dismissive. There's no sense of empathy here -- just a hard-sell push for unnecessary procedures and overpriced medications. And I am someone is very kind by nature. So this was shocking. This place doesn't feel like an animal clinic; it feels like a profit machine. These are the worst kind of vets -- the ones who've lost any connection to the animals or the humans who love them. Judging by other reviews, I'm not alone in this. Avoid this place if you care about your pet. They don't.

I met them when I was seeking compassionate palliative care for my chihuahua after receiving a serious cancer diagnosis for her along with difficult choices and a poor prognosis. Instead of palliative care, they provided life-saving care for her. Three years later, she is thriving and continues to be well-loved and cared for by the Wise and Wonderful staff. They are absolutely fantastic.

We were referred Marcella and she was able to fit us in within a few days from our call. I thought she'd be rolling up in a van, but she comes with a huge truck that is completely outfitted for everything! She just plugs in and goes. She spent time with us on each cut and what we wanted and also asking about their personalities. The grooms were PERFECT and exactly what we wanted. Marcella was also insistent that if we didn't like it, to tell her so she could make it perfect. Best of all, little to no stress on our dogs. They were happy and not anxious at all. Definitely due to the home setting, but clearly how gentle Marcella was with them. I also love that she gave each one a kerchief. We absolutely hope to use her again. Thanks, Marcella!

Don't bring your dog here. The $20 nail trim resulted in a stressed-out dog with poorly trimmed…read morenails and a torn ACL, which will now cost several thousands worth of surgery to fix. Our experience: our dog is shy around people. Not aggressive, but avoidant. Saw a review about easily getting a nail trim 2-4:30PM and thought I'd take advantage since he hates nail trims. I've grown up with dog groomer friends, and I expected a little professionalism. When I arrived, the woman, asked "Nail Trim?" Then asked me to bring him out front of the shop. I was confused, no paperwork, no info taken, she didn't even ask my dogs name. She told us to grab his head while she quickly went to work on his back paws. She grabbed them hard and my dog resisted as he does, she tightened and struggled with him but it was over quick. I was stunned, I've never seen a nail trim happen this way. I've always known groomers to use a table with restraints to safety immobilize the dog. I looked over his nails and noticed some shavings hanging and asked her if she could clean it up. She said " that's the best I can do if he's going to struggle like that" At that point, I knew this was going nowhere and I took my dog home. About 10 min later he began limping. I pushed it aside as maybe a nail was cut short, but 2 weeks later, we realized something was very wrong, as he now was putting no weight on the leg, and now we are going for a surgery consult. Such a nightmare, can't prove a thing but I will advise anyone I know, to avoid this shop for their pets safety.
