Having a lot of animals, many of them pretty dumb, means unexpected circumstances happen all the time. Most often with my sheep, because, well sheep are dumb. One of my sheep got her foot stuck, so naturally her instinct was to flop onto the ground and break her leg. Cotati Large Animal put a cast in her which she managed to slip her leg out of. So they took the cast and split it length wise which we then used as a splint. She couldn't get out of it and she made a full recovery. We had a ram with really bad horns that would curl and grow straight into his eyes. Trimming them is a pain in the ass, and it had to be done constantly. Then we had the vet come out for hopefully a permanent solution. Well he just trimmed those horns a lot shorter and they never grew back. Then just recently we one of our ewes gave birth by didn't pass the placenta. The vet came out to our farm on a Sunday, gave antibiotics, did an ultrasound, and checked her out. She's doing well now and we just need to watch her closely. This place is a life saver and these vets are heroes. read more

My filly had a one in a million chance of pulling through a Severe hoof injury. Dr. Jordan Bui (Hewitt), and staff worked diligently from day one with every means at their disposal. My filly was hospitalized there for three weeks and then came home for follow up treatment ev. 3 weeks. I've met other competent and skilled vets but None that showed me the caring and dedication like Dr Bui (Hewitt) and the AMAZING staff at CLAH. Cant praise them enough! read more

My mini, Baguette, recently saw Dr. Emelie. She was so kind and patient with her. She examined her for a possible pregnancy with blood work and an ultrasound. I have two pot belly pigs. Maurus, the male, and Sonoma, the female. They are the loves of my life. Both of them go to cotati large animal hospital. Dr. Dotti did my little girl's procedure to get spayed. His work was clean and he was confident. He was always available for questions answered. I watched him work and was just in awe at the cows and goats he had for patients! I can tell dr. Dotti really knows what he is doing! Dr. Roche took care of my maurus aka maur-maur, the pig who was hospitalized for 4 whole sad sad days...I was miserable and my little piggy boy was so sick. She healed him back, and called me every day, and kept me well informed. She left me voice mails, and called me in the morning to tell me how he did over night. At the end of the work day, she called me and told me about maurus' day.She's honest, and confident and takes the time for each animal AND their human. All the doctors are great here! The staff who answers the phone is also helpful and every one was easy to work with every time I called in a TOTAL wreck. I will always come here. Ps. You cant beat their prices either. read more

I brought my new gelding in today to get his teeth floated and an overall quick check up. I cannot express how happy I was with Dr. Harlan and his techs! He took great care of my horse, and was very hands on with me in explaining as he went. We added bloodwork and some needed vaccinations, and of course Dr. Harlan was great with going over results. I am 100% going to be bringing all my future horses back as long as he is there, as well as referring everyone I know! read more

Dr. Sally is a very caring and professional Vet. She has been out twice this month for my mini donkeys. Once was an emergency call out visit, and she was there in under 30 minutes. The next was to float their teeth, and she was great. Gets back to me to check on my girls and is someone I trust when needed. read more

Thanks to Dr Dotti for saving my baby lamb's life in March 2019 when I took him in to Large Animal Hospital weighing only 3.7 lbs, very weak and unable to stand up. My baby lamb did not have a name at the time so Dr. Dotti named him "Lamby." Dr Dotti's home made milk replacer mix gave "Lamby" (now named "Tommy") the strength he needed to survive and become the strong lamb he is today. Tommy turned 1 years old today. I sincerely appreciate the dedication of this group. I've had popped splints, euthanasia, impacted fox tails in the cheek, an eye infection, colic, neglect related thrush, a neglect related t-post wound, puppy-mill giardia, vaccinations, worms, and, of course, Valkyrie's foaling of Buck. Oh, and Buck's castration! ... mustn't forget that procedure! WOW! These doctors and their staff are very knowledgeable, kind in handling and behavior of both me and my animals. They're prompt and thorough; having educated me on a litany of animal health care issues. The security of my loyalty stems from when Larry and I poked our heads in during the 2008 Equus Awards banquet -- just in time to hear Dr. Harland receive the Equus Award. It was so nice to see the man who is so good with animals acknowledge his staff and colleagues for their support and partnership, thanking them publicly and accepting the award on their behalf as well. Not only did that speak loudly to the gentleman at the podium, but to the entire group at Cotati Large Animal Hospital. So often 'animal people' have wretched social skills, but I've yet to meet anyone disagreeable from Cotati Large Animal Hospital (if you read my other reviews, you will decipher the importance I place on common decency). I called regarding a heifer down with bloat. I was told they would normally come to Napa, but because of the "time of night" (only about 12:30am), the 30 minute drive was too far given the location of their other clientele. Because of their refusal to drive to Napa, knowing I could not get her into a trailer, she died. Would not recommend calling if you live over 10 minutes away and it's after midnight. read more

About a month ago I got three little 'teacup' pigs off craigslist. The gal I talked to was actually in Texas, but the pigs were down in Little Saigon with her father. Turned out I didn't really get much info on them because the family in San Jose didn't speak English. After a week, it became apparent I had a boy and 2 girls. Another week passed and suddenly the boy (Pickle) became a sexual monster, humpy, aggressive and single-mindedly focused on his little pickle. I got a lot of referrals from friends in my rural neighborhood, but none of these vets would see pigs! Finally, I found this place. They are so professional, so affordable and so nice! What a relief! Pickle was castrated 2 weeks ago, and today the girls were seen to terminate any pregnancies (they are too young), and again, I am so impressed with this remarkably clean place and their staff. Oh, and teacup pigs are just runts paired with runts of the pot-belly variety for their small size. read more

Cotati Large Animal Hospital is simply outstanding. We have a small ranch in Sonoma County with 7 Llamas and 22 sheep. The vets at this Hospital do house calls to our place several times a year, and on occasion, I have brought very sick animals in for emergency treatment. Several of our llamas are rescues and have more than their share of ailments. Dr. Dotti has not only treated and helped our animals, he has provided us with an education on the proper care of llamas and sheep over the years for which we are very greatful. Dr. Wirz is a newer member of the Hospital, who also has expertise on llamas, I think we have seen or been visited by Dr. Wirz 4 times and he is also very good with our animals.
