Absolutely appalling experience. I've never heard my cat scream like that in her life -- a long, blood-curdling cry during a simple flea treatment. It was heartbreaking, and completely avoidable with competent, compassionate care. They usually do this in front of the client - and so taking him in the back and hearing this prolonged screaming from a cat who is the most loving - jump in strangers laps, LOVING being .... I have never in my life experienced anything like that. The staff? Rude, cold, and completely indifferent. When I questioned the inflated charges and surprise add-ons, they were openly hostile and dismissive. There's no sense of empathy here -- just a hard-sell push for unnecessary procedures and overpriced medications. And I am someone is very kind by nature. So this was shocking. This place doesn't feel like an animal clinic; it feels like a profit machine. These are the worst kind of vets -- the ones who've lost any connection to the animals or the humans who love them. Judging by other reviews, I'm not alone in this. Avoid this place if you care about your pet. They don't. read more

I keep asking everyone if they like their vet and no one seems to. One person said her friend liked this place so I was trying really hard to get in. I was told they weren't taking new people, that they only had one full-time vet. I explained how desperate I was to find somebody decent and was eventually told if I just wanted a basic exam and didn't have a problem I could maybe get in but the office manager "was not there until Thursday". I never got a call back so I called again and said that I was desperately trying to find a good vet, that they were the third ones I was wanting to try out and they said hold on and then eventually came back and said if it's just for an exam with no issues it wouldn't be until mid to the end of February, I said yes please! I was not given an appointment and never got a call back AGAIN. Why is veterinary care so lacking in this area? It's the biggest thing I regret in moving here! They may be good but I guess I will never know and my search continues... read more

Arroyo Veterinarian Hospital is the best veterinary hospital I have ever been to. The staff is A++, they are a super tight knit team and on top of everything. The doctors are the best of breed, crème de la crème, they are organized, they are professional, they are loving, they take excellent care of Pets whether they have a busy day or a slow day they are so accommodating I can't imagine having to take my Pet anywhere else. They call or email you off hours to check in with you about your pet to see how they're doing. Excellent all the way around. read more

It is not possible to fully express how amazing this place is. Last week, we discovered our very senior cat slumped unnaturally over his food dish, unconscious with labored breathing. It was 5:30 and most vets were already closed. We put in a desperate call to Arroyo whose published hours indicated they would be closing shortly. Their amazing, empathetic staff member (upset I cannot recall her name) placed us on a brief hold after asking a few questions, came back to share that both Veterinarians were on other lines and then ultimately came back on, instructing us to head down there, they'd get us in. I could continue with more detail about the empathy and concern shown us by everyone including Dr. Alina Amaral, but let's just say they are incredible. Period. We highly recommend them to anyone seeking excellent care for their pets. And to top it off, we received a hand signed by the entire staff sympathy card personalized with our kitty's name yesterday. read more

As usual Arroyo comes through! Every time I've called *another vet in town* even in emergency I am always referred to the emergency vet in Rohnert Park or offered an appt three weeks out. Insane. Every time I've called Arroyo on the other hand they have always said to bring in my dog and they will fit them in even with a full schedule. Well that service saved my dogs life this week. She had an addisonian crisis and they got her in immediately, Dr Amaral accurately diagnosed her which I believe saved her life, stabilized her and then transferred her to the new ER vet (Truvet). She was touch and go but I'm relieved to say she is coming home today. read more

I took the plunge and decided to have children a couple weeks ago. Not the annoying hairless ones but the sweet, adorable fur-covered kind. My new puppy went through a succession of names that finally ended on Wyatt. It means "brave" and it's proven to be true of the little guy unless you're a blustery wind or vacuum cleaner. But I digress... I've been taking my dog children -- Chuy the pound Shar-Pei, Brutus the lovable Chocolate lab, Waylon the harmless Rotweiller, and now Wyatt the more-white-than-yellow lab -- to Arroyo since it was at the tiny Hwy. 12 location that has since become a Mexican market. And I've been to several other vets in town. So, obviously I like Arroyo, but that said, why do I have to take out a second mortgage to pay for pet health care? And why does it mysteriously always cost like $400 no matter what is done? And why do I get hassled when I want to order Heartgard and Advantage from cheaper online services? But we are talking about the care and health of my new little one here so let's spare no expense. Arroyo's building is spiffy, clean and stylish, with a selection of food, toys, and supplies for your furry creatures. There's even separate doors and waiting areas for cats and dogs -- good thinking! The docs and staff are nice enough and even call to check on your sick pets once they come home. Forgot your leash? They have "disposable" take-home ones that they're happy to give you. They even have a newsletter with pet-related news and tips. So, at least if you've got to pay an arm and a leg, you get something extra in return. read more

Dr. Ortiz and the staff was really compassionate and really helpful in helping me make the right decisions without any pressure. The following adjectives come to mind when I think of Arroyo: Caring, compassionate, dedicated, professional, knowledgable, friendly... The addage of "you get what you pay for" holds true with most things in life. Sure, Arroyo is not the cheapest, but our pets have always had superior care. I can't count the number of times each of the doctors have consulted with specialists when diagnosing and proposing treatment options for our pets, just to make sure they're being thorough. Twice in the past couple of months, two different doctors went out of their way to meet us at the clinic - one on a holiday and the other on a Sunday - just so they could give our dog (who was suffering from cancer) something to make him feel better. That level of dedication is what keeps us coming back. Everyone is also very pleasant. They treat us like friends and our pets as though they were their own. We will never hesitate to recommend Arroyo whenever anyone asks "do you know a good vet?". read more

We have long been clients of Arroyo Veterinary Hospital and while a trip to their hospital is never inexpensive, I am always convinced our pets are being given the best care. Doctors Stallings, Schwab, McGrane and Johnson have all seen our dogs or cat and I have always walked out feeling satisfied in the care delivered. In many cases, I have felt the doctors have even gone beyond what most doctors would consider "normal" or "typical" in delivering care. A doctor came to our house when we had to euthanize our last dog and twice when our schedules got jammed up, they arranged to drop our dog off at our house at the end of day -- it helps that we live near one of the doctors so we're not too far out of the way. I can, without hesitation, recommend Arroyo Veterinary Hospital as a place to take your pet if you want to ensure the highest standard of care. read more

Saturday morning I had my first visit to Arroyo Veterinary Hospital and putting into words the heart felt, professional and unforgettable experience hopefully comes through onto this review. I have since lost the piece of paper with the names of the women and dog that I was blessed to interact with. I woke up Saturday with a sick old feral cat in a trap that I had set the night before. I was not prepared for the shape it was in. I knew without a doubt that it needed to be euthanized. I do not have much money and was hoping to find an animal hospital that could work with me. On my second attempt I left the cat in the car and walked into Arroyo Veterinary Hospital. I was greeted by a receptionist with a warm smile and compassionate eyes. She said that they could euthanize my cat for their cost of 135.00. I wanted to try one more clinic before I made my decision. I came back to Arroyo knowing it was the best decision. upon returning I noticed that the receptionist had the most adorable dog, older black and white chihuahua on the desk in the most plush bed ever. I was instantly brought to a better place. She once again was so very kind and got me into a room where I waited just moments for the doctor to arrive. Doctor Stallings and I instantly connected and she asked me after looking at the cat if I would like for her to euthanize my cat as a "good sam". I was filled with immense gratitude. This veterinarian and staff was so incredibly compassionate and empathetic it brings tears to my eyes just remembering the experience. I want to say Thank You to Arroyo Veterinary Hospital! You are top notch and I will never forget that fateful Saturday that you 3 women, and little dog etched a spot in my heart. read more

The upside, if your pet has something they will find it. The downside, they are likely to find whatever is going on because they will basically test everything. If your pet has something bad, you might be happy. If your pet has nothing, you will be very angry. Hence the mixed reviews. Here is how it goes. A vet will examen your pet. Everything great. Then the vet leaves. Another person comes with the proposed treatments, which will be a fortune. That person is not so nice anymore and is not a vet, so you cannot really ask what EXACTLY is essential, what is recommended and what is overkill. You are not happy to pay close to 1k for an upset stomach, so you blindly chose from a long list. No further feedback. You pay, and you go home not knowing if your pet will be ok. And that is basically it. read more

It was the Friday of my wedding weekend. I was driving up to Sonoma with my dog when I noticed her eye. It was red, swollen, puffy and she could barely keep it open. I used Yelp to locate a vet and called with my fingers crossed. Even though they didn't have an appointment available, when I explained the situation they went out of their way to accommodate and see her between appointments. The front desk staff was very helpful. We left with some ointment, her eye cleared up the next day, and she was good as new. Thanks Arroyo! read more

This place is phenomenal. Staff are extremely friendly! I love that their pets are behind the counter (wish I could do that)! I have taken 4 different pets to Dr. Stallings and she has loved each and everyone of them the same. One time my dog ate a moldy walnut and was acting extremely odd (foaming at the mouth and shaking) I rushed her to Dr. Stallings office as they were closing. As soon as the doctor saw Nina, she briefly asked me about her symptoms and pin pointed the culprit. Both her and her staff stayed until well after 9 o'clock to care for Nina. If I would've taken her to some where in Santa Rosa, she probably would have died due to the time it would have taken me to get her there. And for that I am truly grateful for Dr. Stalling and her team! read more

Arroyo Vet Center is about as good as a vet can be. Our pets might as well be our children (they certainly get away with more!!), and we know that the staff at Arroyo will treat them with the same love and attention to all their needs. We have a decrepit old cat and our two dogs - Rugby our cockapoo and Guinness our choco lab, and they both love coming to the vet!! (Now, what dog loves going to the vet?) The dogs know they are loved and treated with TLC here, so they don't mind coming at all! We appreciate that the office reminds us when the dogs are due for vaccinations, and they also communicate with all the better local dog camps / boarding places. We know we will always be well taken care of at this vet center! read more

Arroyo has been very accommodating to us ever since our Vet in Glen Ellen suddenly closed. We were not told of the Glen Ellen veterinary clinic closing, so when we had an emergency with one of our dogs, Arroyo was the only clinic in the Valley who squeezed us into their overbooked schedule. We have taken our dogs in a few times since, and they have always been helpful. It is expensive, but show me a veterinary hospital that isn't. The staff is friendly. The building is great, I like how they have a small room before you get into the main office, as a way to prevent escapee animals. I also like that they offer walk in clinics, and all other sorts of services. read more

Very disappointed in my ongoing pet care. I found a lump on my dog. They believed it was cancerous. She was 15 years old. I had given this dog a wonderful life and I was not interested in doing anything invasive. I wanted to give her palliative care. The doctor I saw (not the owner) pushed doing surgery on a 15 year dog for what? Corgi's often don't live to be 15 anyway. I wouldn't have extended her life. They doctor was also pushing they go in and do a dental cleaning for another $1200 added to the cost of surgery. After my cat died, and they put him down, I continued to receive notices about vaccines the cat needed. The cat was dead!!! I was so miserable and full of grief. The doctor just wouldn't listen to me on what I wanted and needed. I changed vets and am now happy with my new vet. I'm sorry things worked out this way. read more

We went through a gut-wrenching experience with our terminally ill pet this weekend. Rather than ruminate on the tragedy we experienced, I wanted to express thanks to Dr. Stallings for making time for our very sick German shepherd. She was the only vet onsite during this busy Saturday and was fully booked for the day. When we explained the urgency of our situation, Arroyo fit us in and was even willing to come to our residence later that day to help us say goodbye to our poor girl. Unfortunately for urgency of time, we had to rush our dog to Arroyo where Dr. Stallings and her caring staff met us in the parking lot. Dr. Stallings was compassionate and sensitive to our pet and family during this very emotional moment. She made what was a terrible moment, much more bearable. She said all of the right things and it appeared to come from a genuine place. Furthermore, Dr. Stallings thoroughly explained every step and did not behave in a rushed manner when we knew she was very crunched on time. Thank you again Arroyo and Dr. Stallings for helping our poor girl end her suffering. We are grateful for your caring and compassionate services. read more

Dr. Stallings has taken wonderful care of Mocha, our beautiful chocolate lab, since Mocha was a baby. We have depended on her excellent care numerous times, as our sweet girl has unfortunately experienced some very difficult situations. Most recently, Mocha started shaking all over, could hardly stand or walk, and was totally out of it. I thought she was having convulsions, was afraid she was dying, and called Dr. Stallings. Dr. Stallings came right up to our home in the hills after dark on that terribly stormy Sunday evening, as she said it would be easier on Mocha. She sat on the floor in front of the fireplace with Mocha and I, watching her patiently until she was sure she was going to be all right. I am happy to say Mocha is doing great now, has fully recovered, and celebrated her 8th birthday last week. read more

Why I don't use this vet anymore and why you shouldn't either: 1. They are more interested in taking your money than the welfare of your pet! 2. The staff there is incredibly rude, insensitive to pet owners and just nasty. Both myself and many of my friends no longer go there because of the negative attitude and rude demeanor os the staff. Although Dr. McGrane is a wonderful vet, the only nice thing I can say about them. My friends and I go to another vet in town now, and everyone there is kind and supportive and has a real concern for the welfare of the animals that they treat. If you care about your animals and wanted to be treated with respect and compassion you would be better off going elsewhere. But if you want to be overcharged for services, be treated with disdain, rudeness and disrespect than this is the place for you. read more

This office has really terrible energy. The desk staff are impolite, cold and insipid. The two vet techs that I encountered seemed friendly and competent, but I would never ever take my dog here for a serious condition. The other customers that I encountered here were nasty as well. Perhaps this is the place where insensitive people bring their pets? On my last visit, I witnessed a horrible man standing outside of his Lexus yelling at his crippled old dog (who had a hip ailment) to jump into the back seat. I couldn't believe that the lazy ass couldn't help the dog get into the car--he just stood there yelling at him until I called a vet tech out to help the dog get into the back seat. Every customer I've seen here seems the same way. read more

Once in a room and discussing my cat's issues, one of the nurses, Sotchy felt it necessary to talk down to me like I was a small child. She is one of the reasons I will not be returning. I was referred by a friend in extreme financial difficultly who received greatly reduced prices. As I am in the same boat, I was hoping for some small discount. This was not the case, in fact I think I over paid for the "services". I wasn't looking for full compensation, but a small hardship discount would have gone a long way to earning my repeat business. I will not be returning. I will be taking my business and my cat to Dr. Rosner. Please don't make the same mistake I did. read more

The love, compassion and knowledge that these doctors have exceed every expectation every single time we walk in there. We have three dogs and eight cats and we always use Arroyo; specifically, we go to Dr. Stallings. She is great. First of all, she has always accurately diagnosed our pets with their ailments, including an often wrongly diagnosed disorder of older dogs called older dog vestibular disease. Vestibular disease exhibits many of the same symptoms as poisoning or stroke, so we were scared to death for our 14 year old terrier, but she knew just what it was right away. My sister had the same disorder with her dog, and it was never correctly diagnosed by her vet. Moreover, Dr. Stalling is explanative, gentle and a nice person to deal with and talk to. She always returns calls and takes her time in both examining the animal and explaining her findings to the owner. I could not recommend her more highly. read more

Honestly if I could give negative stars I would. My beloved English bulldog had just turned 1. He was experiencing vomiting and trouble breathing. I made a Saturday appointment for him. He was seen by Dr. Hart. They "observed" him for a few hours, and sent him home to me, saying it was acid reflux. I SPECIFICALLY asked if I should take him into 24 hour care to be observed. She said no. Well, that night he was still breathing the same, and I had such a bad feeling, so I decided to bring him to rhonert park pet care. He stopped breathing on the way there, and I gave him CPR the whole way there until I got him to the vet. We were too late. My dog passed away, in my arms, because of the lack of treatment and care at this horrible place. It was traumatic and awful. I was told this could have been avoided by the emergency care team once I told them what had happened. Negligence and malpractice was 100% the reason my dog passed away. I lost my best friend and the light of my life, because Dr. Hart didn't provide my dog with proper care. I will never forgive her for this. This incident happened in February, but I am just over the grieving enough to be able to write this review. I will say Dr. Ameral was amazing with him when he had seen her in the past, and his regular vet, Dr. Ortiz was 100% outstanding. AVOID Dr. Hart at all costs, I wish I had. My life will never be the same from the trauma that could have been avoided. Don't let this happen to you. read more
