I can not sing high enough praises for Dr Cornell and his team. Every single person working for him is top notch, kind, thorough. Expect some long appointment times because they take care to be extremely thorough, but it's totally worth it. When I first met with dr Cornell it was because I was considering LASIK. He thoroughly explained all of my options and risks and even let me do a trial with leave-in contacts to see if I would like the surgery with both eyes or one eye or to just stay in contacts. I ended up decided to just do one eye (mono vision) in order to keep one eye as better for reading. He talked me through every step of the procedure. What to expect with my vision changes and pressure etc throughout. And kept me perfectly calm. It was so fast and simple. Completely painless. I could immediately see after. I will not be returning to this doctor, and i have been a patient for many years. First, when he performed a cataract surgery on one of my eyes the optic nerve was permanently damaged and I now have worse vision than before the operation. Second, as if that wasn't bad enough, every time I have gone to see him the wait is hours long. I am fed up with it. Unconditional recommendation for Dr. Peter Cornell. Skilled, professional and an excellent communicator. My surprising diagnosis required a quick plan of action and two back-to-back surgeries. The outpatient surgeries were painless to the point of pleasant. The monitoring of my recovery and progress post-surgery were exceptional. There is no doubt in my mind that if there had been a complication not easily addressed by medication, Dr. Cornell would have had a plan and a "pivot" readily at hand. He was very upfront about managing expectations about my vision improvement; maybe I just got lucky, but the result far exceeded what I expected. The referral to him came both from my internist and a very close friend. Friend had a disastrous "experimental" cataract surgery that failed, and Dr. Cornell was called upon to reverse and correct it. Want to add that his staff of professionals who are involved in follow-up, from ophthalmic technicians to optometrists, have all been outstanding, informative and helpful. Even before the pandemic, I was a bit overdue for an eye exam. Add in 15 months of lockdown, and I was staring down more than two years of no one asking me if it was better with option 1, or option 2. Option 3, or 4? I asked a good friend for a referral, and she suggested Dr. Cornell. When I called, I was informed that he's only seeing patients for surgery, so I was offered an appointment with Dr. Baumann for the next week. When I arrived, I was informed that my appointment was for two days later. I checked my confirmation and realized the front desk staff was totally right. To my amazement, they said they could still see me that day if I didn't mind waiting. Imagine my surprise when I heard my name being called less than 15 minutes later. The process began with a lovely technician taking me from room to room and station to station to do all of my eye tests in tandem with another member of the team, and then I let the lovely Dr. Baumann at the very end of the appointment. Some of the reviews from a few years ago mention long waits and unfriendly staff, but I didn't have anything but a lovely and efficient experience here. The new patient forms were all sent to me via Klara, a secure text / web based format prior to my appointment, the staff was so kind and friendly - and beyond accommodating to still squeeze me in when I arrived on the wrong day! - and Dr. Baumann was kind, knowledgeable, and personable. I have been going to Dr. Cornell for years, and though the wait-time has increased, and the staff expanded to the point one always has different technicians and different doctors, generally left feeling in good hands. Unfortunately the practice has expended so much over the past 20 + years, there is often no longer a feeling of a personalized touch; communication is sometimes smooth; other times, wanting. Had a situation recently where time-sensitive care was required. I could not see Dr. Cornell (he is booked several months out), but was brought in same day (definitely a huge plus) and put through various tests with other technicians and doctors. It was all very professionally handled, if not a bit impersonal. Follow up communication the next day was mixed; I was left with what seemed confusing information as to whether a return visit the next day was warranted given the diagnosis (though they were willing to again fit me in; again a plus). I was able to book an appointment with a different eye doctor at a different practice - not so much for a second opinion, as for some clarity and hopefully more information about how to possibly proceed. They not only took me end of day given my concerns, but also took the time to walk me through a great deal more information that had not been provided during / after my previous exam. I had only met this doctor once before, but she handled everything with a great deal more compassion and helpful follow up information. read more

I've had vision problems as of late and wanted to get my eyes checked and get new glasses. I was able to book an appointment with one of the optometrist there within the same week I called. I arrived early and was immediately greeted and one of the associates took my temperature at the door. I was then immediately taken to a room that was sanitized and cleaned prior to my arrival. Everyone was wearing an appropriate masks and and were doing their best social to distance the patients from each other. The techs were and staff were awesome and very helpful during my time there. I was seen by Dr. Baumann, who was very nice and professional. GREAT PERSONALITY. She was able to answer ALL my questions and was very helpful and reassuring. My biggest concern was trying on glasses after I was done. But, the ladies in optical reassured me that all the glasses are sanitized and cleaned after each patient. They also made me wash my hands prior to trying anything on and had me put any glasses I tried on on the counter so they knew which ones needed to be cleaned. Overall GREAT, I highly recommend booking an appointment at Dr. Cornel's office for all your optical needs! Thank you again! read more

If I were to give this practice the benefit of the doubt, their slow response time, laxness about calling in the prescription eye drops and flawed lines of communication might be due to something I don't know about given that there's an uptick in covid cases. So this was my first time ever going to an eye doctors office; my eyesight has been pretty good for most of my life, but getting older...I think it was just time to get my eyes checked at least once lol. I was able to book an appointment with ease, and showed up a bit early (as you always should before your scheduled time). Not knowing what to expect, I figured it would be like a typical doctors office. You get there, you check in, you wait an absurd amount of time to be seen, get called back and forth a few times for paperwork....just a long overall dull and time consuming process. Complete opposite of what I experienced here at this office! When I arrived, I was immediately greeted and one of the desk attendants performed a temperature check on me. All of the staff were wearing masks CORRECTLY (looking at you workers with your nose sticking out), and everyone was doing the best they could to social distance even from their desk positions. When the tech led me to the exam room, I could see that everything had been sanitized recently, which I know can be difficult and overlooked when certain doctors' offices see multiple patients in short amount of times. Not the case here. Also it was nice seeing the techs taking the time to disinfect the sample glasses before and after placing them on the counter. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time, and that is such a reassuring aspect during Covid-19. Dr. Baumann was fantastic; great personality. Answered all of my questions and was extremely helpful and reassuring. And being my first time getting an eye exam I had A LOT of questions haha, but she had no problem explaining everything. My mother who also had a scheduled visit also commended Dr. MacDonald, who was her scheduled ophthalmologist. Overall a great experience, honestly don't think any of the one star reviews could hold an ounce of water. I highly recommend the office of Dr. Peter Cornell for all your optic needs. read more

I had such a wonderful experience with Dr. Cornell. From a routine eye exam to realizing I needed surgery for an eye problem found during my exam.. My experience was such a dream. I had my surgery for cataracts and Narrow Angle Glaucoma. The staff was beyond pleasant and helpful and Dr Cornell himself put me at ease in every way... My surgery was successful. This office is so unorganized, it makes me sick. All the assistants are running around like a swarm of bees but nothing gets done on time. The wait to see the technician is about hour, hour and a half. You have to be prepared to loose 3 hours of your time in this office. They now have a new thing - they charge you $85.00 for the ABC exam. this is a standard procedure when the doctor (in this office case a technician) will ask you to read the letters on the wall and try to match the lenses) This procedure is standard procedure which is covered by insurance since it is the exam that shows which lenses will you need. At the front desk the receptionist will only tell you that you will have to pay $85.00 without any explanation what it is for. The whole experience feels like money and time extortion. read more

Dr. Cornell performed cataract surgery on me and gave me crystalens implants, in 2003, that accommodate for near, intermediate, and distance vision. He explains everything thoroughly, gives you the opportunity to ask questions, and never makes you feel rushed as though he needs to move on to his next patient. The nurses at the surgical center that Dr. Cornell uses all like him very much because he is always friendly, kind, and even-tempered. He referred me to Kenneth W. Wright, MD, an internationally renowned strabismus specialist, who repaired my lifelong strabismus and double vision. Sunderp Bhambhani, is the best optometrist I've ever had. He is excellent at doing refractions. I had double vision before Dr. Wright corrected it, in addition to one near-sighted eye and one far-sighted eye, and Dr. Bhambhani always has given me excellent prescriptions. He's very kind and easy to be with. After leaving my childhood ophthalmologist, upon moving to Los Angeles, I went through a number of well-recommended ophthalmologists before finding Dr. Cornell. I highly recommend both Dr. Cornell and Dr. Bhambhani, as well as Dr. Wright. read more

I've been coming to this office for a couple of years now, and every experience has been met with friendly staff and great professional care. I also really appreciate it when the doctor I saw always took the time to explain how my vision is like, what my prescription means and how to best take care of my eyes. Each eye exam I've had has been very thorough and detailed. During one of my exams, the doctor wanted to be absolutely sure that I wasn't at risk for a potential retinal detachment, so she not only ran multiple tests to make sure, but she also asked other doctors for their opinion. I was very impressed by the great lengths she took to make sure my vision was taken care of, which is also telling of how this office prioritizes their patients' vision. read more

He really cares about helping you see as well as possible given your lifestyle, preferences and medical history -- it's not a cookie cutter approach. He lays out all the options and their pros and cons. Yes, appointments are long because you have to see two different people beforehand at each visit, but it's worth the time. I came in today to try on frames because I am in need of a new pair of glasses, I was greeted at the front door and asked to take my temperature, then I was asked to wash my hands at a hand washing sink available inside which was nice. As I tried on glasses, they made sure to separate the frames I tried on by placing them on the counters so they could be cleaned and sanitized before going back on the walls.. I am a nurse and this was very reassuring for me because I felt like everything was very clean!!!! Angelica helped me out while I was there and I was looking for clip on glasses, I found a pair which was similar to what I was looking for and she helped me even more by suggesting different styles closer to what I wanted. Everyone here is very professional and helpful, I'm looking forward to coming back to pick up my new Tom Fords thank you again Angelica!!!!! Update: Was finally able to pick up my new glasses today and I am so excited I wanted to come back and share! The customer service here is incredible and they are still on top of their cleanliness protocols. A month later, they are still taking temperatures at the door and asking customers to hand wash. They even sanitized the area I sat while grabbing my glasses for me. I've revisited places that have cut slack as we try to find normalcy but this office has not and I am impressed.. To make a long story short. If a patient books an appointment for a procedure that is not covered under vision insurance(feel like I am taking crazy pills), that should be explained. So their patient doesn't site around waiting 2 weeks with impaired vision for their appointment and have to deal with one of the most entitled, unprofessional a$$hole secretaries I have ever come across and not get treated.
