Very nice selection, especially for Utica, but also very expensive. I have always found Peter to be quite rude and condescending. I don't think the staff is all that knowledgeable or helpful either. I wish I could award zero stars. I shop at Peter's when there's a great sale or I can't find what I need elsewhere in Utica. Absolutely love this place! Need any kind of supplement, herb, health food .. you can find it here 99% of the time. Taking one star off because it is alittle more expensive then other stores. The staff is usually helpful as well. They have a cafe that has yummy healthy , delicious food made up of mostly soups, salads, sandwiches& smoothies. Usually made up of local ingredients as well. Fresh goodness! -unfortunately the hours are limited from what I've experienced & every time I go there the cafe is closed! :( Their kombucha on tap is my fav& you can bring back your jug to refill. read more

They get 5 stars solely based on their seasoned sour cream! It was sooo good!! Stopped in for lunch and it was pretty busy, but we were able to get a table and ordered promptly. I had the cafe quesadilla with chicken. The portion was huge and probably enough to share between two people (I had food coma after...). The quesadilla came with plenty of salsa and seasoned sour cream. It would've been impossible for me to run out! Delightful cafe/bistro inside a healthfood store; counter service is fun and excellent, food is fantastic: had Picasso wrap and sala an coffee for only $11 and loved it! You can socialize at the bar or enjoy a quiet table or take your food to go. Everything is fresh and cooked to order, so there may be a small wait but it is well worth it. No heat lamps here! Thank goodness for at least one store in the Utica area like this. I really like this store, however prices can be a bit too high for certain products. They tend not to have what I am looking for, but always offer to order it. Would like it better if they stocked more items/variety. The cafe is great, however I was shocked when I ordered a cup of soup that was WAY to expensive ~$4 for the portion size. It's soup, it shouldn't cost this much or they could be a lot more generous with the portions size - Yikes! I also would love to see them expand the menu or have specials! First, the cafe. As others have said, the food is meh. And overpriced. I assumed the food and drinks were organic ( after all, the veggies in the store are) but no it is not. They only tell you its not organic if you Ask. My mistake. Pricey for ordinary shakes and food. Tabuli is way off. Much better in the area. The store. Pretty good selection, but staff are not that knowledgable, and not helpful. I get better selection of produce and refrigerated products at hannaford s, and they seem to be getting more every day. read more

I went in to buy my monthly supply of Bone Meal as I make my own dog food. There wasn't any which has not been a problem in two years. I buy it ever month. It is $4.50 more expensive than buying it online. Okay, but it is buying local and when I go I usually spend a minimum of $40.00 and often much more. I asked the cashier, she looked, and she went and asked Peter and came back and said no one buys it and he wasn't going to order it anymore. There were 5 rows of the other bone supplement (not the same as bone meal). I politely asked if I could speak to Peter. I walked back and he was eating lunch and I politely asked if he would order more. He was petulant and rude and insisted that no one bought it basically telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and that he did the ordering. I told him that I just drove 30 miles one way to buy it and I do so once a month. He then offered to order it but his tone was so disheartening and nasty I told him I would get from Amazon. He said good. I also told him I would no longer shop there. He said good. I suppose he was in a bad mood but I have been shopping in his store for over 20 years. I am very disappointed that he would treat a long time customer like this. read more

Excellent selection of health foods and local goodies. Cafe has great sandwiches, smoothies, fresh baked goods and breakfast. The baked goods especially, are delicious. Mocha chocolate chip muffins and the crumbley cinnamon blueberry muffins are amazing. Decently priced food at the cafe, though some grocery items can be a little pricey. I thought the cafe area could be a little bit cleaner, there was garbage on the floor and on the tables, probably left over from the lunch crowd. THE CAFE: I come here for lunch, but wish it was open later. The food isn't necessarily amazing, but the selection is good and the cafe's staff is friendly. Try the cafe!!! THE STORE: The staff didn't even make eye contact with me... and weren't knowledgeable about what was on the shelves. Furthermore, the shelves looked bare and the merch needed to be front & faced. I also get some cookies from here, but the last batch of the flax-zucchini-blueberry-granola tasted different and were't as soft as they usually are. read more

I've been to Peter's many times over the years, but today was the first time I've had lunch at the cafe. It was wonderful! Brought my two children, 9 and 12 years old, and the selection of sandwiches and salads was plentiful, and everything sounded delicious. My son got the Greek salad and the tzatziki dressing was amazing (my son said that that alone would make him want to eat there again!). I split a roasted vegetable ciabatta sandwich with my daughter---I wished I had gotten a whole one because it was that good! She also had a cup of the vegetable beef and barley soup---also a big hit! We watched many people order smoothies of all kinds and special coffee drinks that I'd like to try the next time. I highly recommend this cafe for anyone, especially those who enjoy real food! read more

Okay let me just sum this place up in one word, AMAZING. So many options to choose from and every single choice is delicious! They even have vegan options. The smoothies here are also so good. Whenever I come here, I choose a new smoothie to try. I have tried a lot of the sandwiches and wraps here and they are all good but my favorite is the tuna sandwich.
