Seven of us had breakfast there on 4/30. The staff could not have been any better. They were very attentive without being intrusive. Both servers had smiles at all times and didn't hesitate to meet our quirky demands. The food was overly generous in quantity and there were no complaints about it from any of us. Although the room was beginning to fill up, they did not make any effort or suggestion to get us to leave, even though we overstayed our breakfast by at least an hour. I stopped in at Raspberries for a late breakfast/early lunch around 11:30 and was seated at the counter, the only patrons sitting there at the time. The restaurant was bustling, and while it took a few minutes for our waitress to come over, a couple of waitresses kindly let us know she'd be right with us. I ordered the tuna melt on rye with fries. The tuna was quite salty, but still had good flavor overall. The portion was generous, which seems to be a theme here! My dining partner ordered eggs with home fries and hash, which came in hearty servings as well. The staff were friendly, which added to the cozy atmosphere. The restaurant itself was very clean, but I did notice the bathroom, particularly the ceiling vents and the door, could use a bit more attention. Headed to Raspberries at about 8 am on a Saturday morning. Only two cars in the parking lot should have been a sign. One waitress working and she seated us promptly. Ordered the Giambotta and a Steak and Greens breakfast. Food came quickly, waitress was attentive and coffee was good. Unfortunately that's the highlight of the visit. The Giambotta was mostly potatoes, very little sausage and the greens were fair. The hot peppers mixed in appeared to be raw jalapeños that were cooked on the flat top as assembled - very spicy but not a lot of flavor. The steak was tough on the Steak and greens breakfast and the greens were lacking in flavor. We saw some delicious looking berry covered waffles go by - maybe we just ordered the wrong dishes. read more

Staff and ambience are nice but the food was a bit bland, portions are really big so you can share which makes it good for just two people. The Cappuccino was out of this world sweet, we couldn't even finish it. Not the best breakfast but definitely an option if that's the last choice. read more

Excellent breakfast joint! The vibe is much like a classic diner (in fact the New Hartford location was a diner some years ago). I've never been for lunch or dinner, but their breakfast is the star of the show. I had their Gaimbrotte which is an enormous breakfast scramble with peppers, onions, potatoes and more. I had their marble rye toast and it was outstandingly delicious. My wife had the Irish skillet and loved it. The service was really good with the staff keeping up with refilling our coffees and water. The helpings are very large, so much so that we each brought at least half of our meals home for breakfast the next day (also very tasty) It's not an inexpensive meal but with a large helping one of their skillets could easily be shared by 2 people. We will be back for another great breakfast at some point in the near future to either this or their Rome location. read more

The hashbrowns were awful this morning a big pile of potatoes. I don't know put on but they The omelette was OK. I got a western omelette. Cheese was extra and the coffee was watered down. My family and I have been regulars at Raspberries since day one and there's good reason for it - the food is excellent, the restaurant itself is always cleanly, and the staff are wonderful. Some of the waitresses are nearly an extension of our family, asking for updates and letting us know who else from our crew had already been in that day or earlier in the week. They always take the time to stop and say hi even when they're slammed with customers - it's that type of kindness that stands out to me. You won't get a bad server here, but if you ever get Maria or Deb you're extra lucky! My favorite breakfasts are the veggie giambrotte or any of the specialty skillets, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu (trust me... I think at this point at least one person in my family has tried every single item!). My dad's a big fan of the Daily Double (two eggs any style, two fluffy pancakes served with choice of ham, bacon, or sausage, and a small juice) and my mom switches it up a lot but frequently gets some kind of omelet. To sum it up: you've gotta try this place! read more

Servers are friendly and the cafe is nice. Especially the counter seating. Too bad the food really kinda sucks. My eggs Benedict was good, but the potatoes are so gross. Clearly cooked in way too much butter flavored margarine. They are soupy and mushy every time I went. And the bacon is always Ice cold. This place was a nice choice for a fast tasty lunch. While the decor is a bit dated I did find it to be quite nostalgic. I loved the homemade decorations on the walls from what I assume are little customers. I ordered a Cobb Salad bonus points for artichokes and my husband a turkey club. Raspberries is one of the better diners in the area... they actually have 3 locations... New Hartford, Utica, & Rome. The staff is always accommodating and friendly and the food is always good! The most recent time I came was for breakfast on a Saturday morning- it was pretty busy but we were seated right away. The breakfast menu is somewhat small but they have all of your breakfast staples... pancakes, French toast, eggs, and they even have specials such are giambrotte. I prefer to eat lunch here (try the Reuben sandwich it's delish). The service is always great, all of the staff aims to please and they do it with a smile! Prices are fair too. There's not very many diners in the area so I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for some good grub! Enjoy fellow yelpers! read more

I had high expectations. It's a cute, little diner looking place across from a built-up mini mall area with a lot of chain food options. This cafe was packed. Overall, decent food. Buffalo chicken sandwich with potato salad. Not the good kind of blue cheese or ranch, and you really need at least one of those to be good to cut through the dryness of the sandwich. Good place. Great food. My wife enjoys eating healthy and she was able to find food that was on her diet.

Though they were in the middle of serving a bus full of young women athletes , we waited only a few minutes to be seated. Waiter was very friendly and pleasant. We had a variety of items : a ham and cheese omelette, corned beef hash with eggs that were described as" perfectly over light". I had their Belgian Waffle with raspberries and a side of sausage links and shared some of my companions generous side of home fries. Everything was very good but for me the standout was the waffle, I love waffles , and make them at home, but seldom order out because of past experiences. The waffle was crisp, flavorful and had a generous portion of fruit on top that was fruit and not pie filling ! The fruit was juicy but did not soak into every part of the waffle so until the last bite there was a pleasant crunch. All the staff that we interacted with from the cashier/hostess to the bus person were friendly and courteous. We will be back and while everything we saw served at other tables looked exceptional, I think I will probably enjoy the Belgian waffles again ! read more

Was looking for a nice place for breakfast that had a local feel. Not a big fan of hotel breakfast so I like to venture out to see what's available. Found Raspberries on yelp and had decent reviews so we gave it a try. Nice local diner. Friendly staff. The music was a little loud, but we also were seated underneath the speaker. We moved to a different booth but it was still a little loud. The server tried to turn the music down for us but the volume control was in an area where she could not reach it. Anyway, nice selection of breakfast meals. My colleague ordered a BLT which is not even on the menu. That's one of the great things about local restaurant, is they can make about anything you want as long as they have the ingredients. I ordered one of the specials that the waitress recommended and it was really good. Not too costly, coffee was good. I would definitely come back when traveling in this area. read more

This place hasn't changed anything but maybe their prices. I used to love coming here for breakfast until the wait for a kids breakfast was half an hour long. It is just some toasted bread, scrambled eggs and bacon. It shouldn't take that long since there weren't so many costumers in front of us. It might be because of the waitress not paying attention and forgetting what we asked of her before hand. The food isn't bad but just sometimes you'll get poor service depending on the person you get. read more

I needed to stay overnight in New Hartford, NY for a business meeting the following day. I decided on the Raspberry Cafe based solely on the fact that I could harmonize the name of this restaurant to the tune of "Raspberry Beret" by Prince. I went for breakfast and decided on the Giambrotte with turkey sausage instead of the Italian sausage with Italian toast. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed the spicy peppers (and yes they are spicy) and how they perfectly complimented the egg scramble. The mozzarella cheese on top was a nice finish. What's wrong with it? The place looks like Prince himself decorated the place back in the 70's with a promise of never changing. The juice, as so comedically stated in the last review, was very small. Also, after my plate came out the chef came out and locked eyes with me on more than one occasion. Yes I know I'm not local...what did you do to my dish? The food was great, service and friendliness was average. But I wouldn't seek it out again. I would have to say this puppy is a one and done. read more

This solid diner is a local favorite. While nothing is extraordinary, most everything is at least good, portions are generous (contrary to other reviews, our juices were easily 8 oz), and the prices very reasonable. What's great: coffee (which they offer to refill every few minutes), the marble rye toast, the friendly waitresses, and the classic decor. Also, the fact that there's "giambrotte" on the menu. What failed: the poached eggs that turned out to be cooked solid. I pulled myself together and ate them anyway. Fun fact: Our waitress cheerfully admitted that the unexplained "Curious George" option on the kids' menu can be anything they made too much of and are trying to get rid of. Raspberries does a fantastic breakfast. You'll get a large plate of good food and the world's smallest juice to go with it. Their "small" juice is closer to the size of a thimble than a small. You can squeeze more juice out of the orange wedge that they garnish your plate with. It'll take a few moments to realize what they've set in front of you is in fact your juice and not just a prop from Honey I Shrunk the Kids. If I had to guess how many fluid ounces the juice is I'd have to guess...one? Possibly one fluid ounce. The good news is that if you spill the juice you'll never know it. Based on how small the small is I'm actually nervous to order the large. Oh, and they've got really good marble rye toast. read more

We have always loved this place, but today was a disaster. First, my silverware was so dirty it stuck to the paper napkin. I pointed this out to the waitress. Then, drinking my coffee, about halfway down, something foreign, almost like a big hunk of apple jelly, in my mouth. Totally disgusted me and I completely lost my appetite. The waitress again apologized, said maybe something from the dishwasher, looked like jelly, but no matter what it was, hate thinking of the possibilities. This was a happen-to-be-riding-by stop for lunch. Ordered a blu cheese burger med-well. When it arrived the burger was well well done, lettuce was wilted, blu cheese still had it's shape from measuring cup, not melted and the slice of tomato was a bottom slice the size of a 50-cent piece. I think this place is just terrific! It's clean, the staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. It's pretty much an upscale dinner, which is totally fine :) The portions are filling, the prices aren't crazy and the food is always consistently delicious. Family was visiting Clinton. Food was so so. I didn't particularly care for the bacon. Pancakes were ok and came with prepackaged syrup. We have two little ones who seemed to enjoy the scrambled eggs, home fries, and sweet potato fries. Portions were very generous for the price. Service was slow. Took a while for us to just get glasses of water for the whole table. We then had to hunt down our waitress for the check. She was a very sweet waitress but might have been overwhelmed. It seemed like they didn't have any bussers. Our table was cleared by the hostess. Our little one was being a bit messy and a waitress remarked on it under her breath to another employee. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't negative but just making sure the other employee recognized they'd have to do some work after we leave. All told I wouldn't recommend against going but I also can't say you should go out of your way to go. read more
