I broke down about 10 miles east of Ritzville from the time I called for the tow till I was driving out of his shop was 2:20 min... WOW I blew a fuel line on my Cummins diesel he happens to keep the part in stock and the repaired it as soon as it got to the shop and got me back on the road! I ran out of gas somewhere around ritzville. I'm embarrassed to admit it.. but I got so distracted by what life throws at you out of nowhere that I tore off out on my journey without filling up the tank. Yeah.. pretty humbling. Well I was laser focused on getting to the next destination and I just didn't pay any attention until oh no! I'm plumb out of fuel. That'll slow you down for sure. I've never used my roadside policies and wasn't sure which one would be most convenient there stuck at the rest area. Well I got the opportunity to test them out. And what I found out is this... PETE'S garage and Towing would make any roadside assistance policy look good. Hands down the very best customer service around. There wasn't a charge for the first 2 gallons which were covered on my Verizon roadside assistance policy... and I was glad to not have to pay the 300 dollars quoted by the first service provider my other policy came up with. Good if you need a tow - Do NOT have them work on your car. I had the misfortune of breaking down outside Ritzville, and this was the towing company that roadside assistance sent out. The man who picked me up was very nice and said they would take care of me. They warned me going in that because they don't work on Volkswagen, they might not be able to fix it, but they would take a look. A week later they let me know they did some repairs, but it needed more and they would have to tow it back to Spokane anyway. When I got it to my regular mechanic to complete the repairs, they let me know that the repair they said they did wasn't complete. Not only that, but they also they overcharged me. The cherry on top of this mess is that Pete's also damaged my ignition coils the way they tried to pry them out of the car. I have had to spend so much extra time and money as a result of their shoddy repair work, it is very disheartening. Bottom line: Their towing rates are fair - just avoid the repairs. read more

I understand that WSP has certain rates by which to charge for emergency roadside tows to make the roadway safe, But if I am being charged $450 to tow my truck 2 miles to their yard, and charged for 12 hours of storage when they actually had it for no more than 1 1/2 hours you would think they know enough about vehicles to pull the driveline to reduced the damage to the vehicle when towing it. While I was in the hospital they towed my truck, and neglected to pull driveline and completely ruined the front driveline as truck had gone into 4wd in the collision, when they towed it the front shaft wore through on the cross member breaking the driveline as well as ruining a brand new transmission in the process. Thank you , your lack of knowledge cost me over $4000 more than just losing my truck in the accident. read more

On September 7th, 2020 We were stopped on the freeway because of low visibility from a dust storm and found that there was a 15 care pileup ahead. We were just South of Ritzville, so no way out. Emergency vehicles started coming down the left emergency lane causing everyone to pull to the right to give space. When we realized it was going to be awhile, I turned off my engine and sat with hundreds of others on the freeway. after a bit the tow trucks started coming through on the right side emergency lane. I was not in the lane but close to it since everyone came over that way from the left lane. When a Pete's garage and towing truck started honking his horn and yelling out his window to move. I wasn't in his lane and others had already made it by all of the semi's and cars on the right prior to this. I tried to start my truck and it was dead. He kept yelling so I got out and told him my truck would start. He cussed me out and called me a F'ing (he screamed the words that I am abbreviating) B...tch to move my F'ing Truck. I attempted to tell him again that my truck was dead and I couldn't move it. He called me a B~~tch. again and flipped me off and gunned the flat bed past me. I thought he was going to run me over and flatten my truck. He had no business treating me that way no matter what was happening ahead. everything had been stopped for almost an hour by then. I had my 7 year old grandson in the truck with me and I didn't appreciate being treated disrespectfully when I hadn't said anything to the older, long haired, bearded, driver. I broke down outside of Ritzville and believe Pete picked me up. He did so in a timely fashion and we took the broken down vehicle back to his shop. Afterwards he informed me of some options and I thought about how to best handle the situation. Ultimately, the tow ended up being expensive and I thought he gave slight misinformation about how much the vehicle would be to repair. It's really his discretion how much to charge for the tow, so, I don't think it's fair to blame or be upset with his COMPANY for charging me $430 to get the car to Cheney; however, he alluded to the car being several thousands of dollars to repair which gave me a really bad feeling at the time and he offered to take the car from me in exchange for my title. Thankfully, I had it towed and I was able to order a crate engine and gasket kit for $1400 total, now, adding the installation fees, I'll have a new engine for under or about 2k all with a one-year warranty. Overall, Listen, use Pete's if you break down because there's not many other options for you and he does the tow job he advertises very well. That being said, Don't trust what he says or think you're not in the presence of someone who is trying to keep his company alive and get the most gain from you possible. Pete's is like any other business trying to stay alive today except he is in a great location to profit from tows. My suggestion is to be more open and honest towards repair prices in the future, but hey, I had a foreign plate and that's a good of target as any. -James read more

If Petes isn't available AVOID Adams Towing across the street in Ritzville. Adams Towing was like an old movie cliche where the towing garage holds your car hostage and extorts you. He tried to mess with our damaged car's contents, was rude, and wouldn't accept our payment so he could rack up more storage costs. He bilked us for over $900. read more

Too bad this company finds it necessary to takes the opportunity to take advantage of people that break down near Ritzville. Our vehicle was smoking and as a precaution we decided to have it towed and looked at rather then cause additional damage. Pete's Garage towed our vehicle to their location and said we needed a new transmission. After a few days of having it there we decided to limp it home and have a second opinion done on it. It is notable that the shop was very reluctant to release our vehicle to us as they wanted to do the repairs. The vehicle ran fine the entire way back to Spokane. The Spokane repair shop did a significant amount of tests on it including long drives with the vehicle and said their was nothing wrong with the transmission. We have taken the vehicle out of town several times since with not problems at all. Would not trust this shop! read more

I agree; these folks are taking advantage of people who break down in Ritzville. The towing service was ok and prompt (and expensive), but I broke down in Ritzville on my way to Montana and the employees apparently did not care one bit that this meant I had to pay for a hotel, pay someone to take me back to Montana so I could get to work, AND pay someone to get me back once it was fixed (3 days later). And the real kicker is there was nothing wrong with the car, so it took 3 days and $160 to do absolutely nothing. Every other mechanic I've ever been to has not charged me for simply looking at the car. I'm a poor college student; I don't have that kind of money, which I think is pretty obvious by looking at me. I never got an apology, and they NEVER called me to give me an update on the vehicle; I had to contact them 100% of the time. It was a terrible experience, unfriendly service, and I absolutely would not recommend. read more

On the first leg of a long awaited vacation, our RV had engine trouble. We were able to make it to Pete's. He and the crew stopped what they were doing, diagnosed the issue and directed us to a nice cafe while the work was completed. I broke down outside of town on a Sunday. I had my trailer & truck towed to Pete's. Monday morning they took a look but were very busy. They let me keep my trailer there until Wednesday and allowed a mobile diesel mechanic to work on my truck in their back lot. These are great folks ! read more

Not friendly, and very unprofessional! They didn't fix my car the first time, I broke a timing belt and they were referred by the towing company to fix it. I drove 6 hours to pick it up, just to break down again outside of Ritzville. 4 weeks later I finally got my car back to find out they didn't put all the bolts back in the intake manifold and my valve cover is broken, which led to a leak and a fouled spark plug, There is another 600 dollars in repairs that should have never happened had they taken the time to fix my car correctly. What can you do when your broken down in the middle of nowhere, except hope for the best. These people are not the best!! read more

CAUTION... I WOULD CALL SOMEONE ELSE IN EITHER SPOKANE OR MOSES LAKE. IT WOULD BE CHEAPER. My cube van broke down in Ritzville. Pete's pulled it TWO (2) miles with his pickup truck and a tow strap, with a person steering the pulled van costing $200.00. They claimed they could repair our van, but it wouldn't be fixed the same day. So we had to find a ride back to Coeur d Alene, ID. They had the van for more than a week, everyday there was another costly issue that they said needing fixing. They claimed they installed a new fuel pump, injectors, fuel filter, temperature sensor for a bill totally $1,285.00 and they still could not get it running. We stopped them working on it, and had it towed to Coeur d Alene, ID. The mechanic that we hired to repair the van said no new fuel pump or sensors were installed. There shows no evidence where the gas tank had been removed to install a new fuel pump. (pictures available) The mechanic also pointed out the so called "new sensor" was filthy from years and miles of driving (located on the top of the motor) was "not new" as claimed by Pete's Garage they had installed. Before we took our van we asked Pete's for the old parts they removed and they could not produce them, said they already threw the old parts away. The whole experience was awful. Plus we paid $600.00 to have the vehicle towed to Coeur d Alene and an additional $600.00 for a proper mechanic do the repairs that Pete's Garage could not fix. Pete's Garage said it was the fuel system and the proper mechanic found it to be and electrical problem in the steering wheel. BEST ADVICE IS TO HAVE THE CAR TAKEN SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR REPAIR. If you must have them work on it STAY WITH THE CAR. It is our opinion they are both lairs and crooks and have no idea what they are doing.
