My 18 year old dog had to be put down, and the whole process was made infinitely worse by the cold and distant attitude of the veterinarian Dr. Dew. When we arrived, my dog was peacefully sleeping, but the doctor chose to wake him up, which felt unnecessarily harsh, almost as if to confirm we weren't lying about his condition. From that moment on, he was in agony, moaning and crying throughout the procedure. What made it worse was that no one offered him any kind of anxiety medication or calming treatment, even though it was obvious he was distressed. He went from crying to lifeless in my arms, and the whole thing felt horrifying. I thought I was mentally prepared for this experience. But the reality of it was far worse than I ever could have anticipated. I can't help but feel like I betrayed my dog and that he suffered because I didn't advocate harder for his comfort. If I had known how much he would struggle, I would have gladly paid extra for any sedative or calming aid to make it easier for him. I truly hope he can forgive me, but I can't shake the feeling that I failed him in his final moments. This experience was not what I imagined it would be, and I just want to warn others to make sure they advocate for their pets' comfort, even if it means pushing for additional care.

After seeing Dr. Rupp at Vet CCC for the past five years, I'm very glad I made the switch. There were several differences that really stood out: 1. **I was able to stay with my cat during his echocardiogram.** Being there helped keep him calm and made the experience much less stressful. At my previous cardiologist, he would often become so anxious during his echocardiograms that he needed medication beforehand. 2. **I actually met and spoke with Dr. Hertzer in person.** He was kind, patient, and took the time to explain potential medications that my cat would go on in the future. In the five years I was a client at my previous cardiologist, I never met Dr. Rupp face-to-face or spoke to her on the phone. 3. **Pricing and recommendations were explained clearly before any testing or charges.** I appreciated knowing exactly what to expect before consenting to anything. 4. **Dr. Hertzer diagnosed my cat and not one of his medical assistants.** While seeing our prior vet, only her medical assistants would do the echocardiogram and the diagnosis. Dr. Hertzer believes it's a possibility that my cat was misdiagnosed, and I wouldn't be surprised it's because the previous vet had her medical assistants diagnosing my cat instead of herself.  5. **Sedation isn't the norm.** At our prior vet Dr. Rupp, sedation was the normal for routine echocardiograms, and it the appt.s were 2-4 hour drop-offs, versus the 40 minute in-person appt we had with Dr. Hertzer. One of the main reasons I left my previous cardiologist was the lack of transparency regarding policies and pricing. Over the years, fees randomly increased (usually 25-30% a year), and my cat had always been seen annually without any issues. I called to make another annual check appointment, and I was unexpectedly told that appointments were now required every six months to continue receiving his medication. Because it had been more than six months, I was told I had to pay the much higher "new patient/first visit" fee instead of the annual recheck fee ($300-400 extra) --even though my cat had been an established patient for five years and had been seen within the previous year. This policy change had never been communicated to me in advance, which was very frustrating. Overall, my experience with Dr. Herter was outstanding. The care felt compassionate, transparent, and patient-centered, and I left feeling much more confident about my cat's treatment. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a veterinary cardiologist.

During the event, they had a coffee cart, photo booth, tag engraving and goodies for our fur babies. We decided that it was time for a change and we loved what we saw during the event. Made an appt on the phone and the coordinator was absolutely amazing and so thorough. Our fur babies were due for an annual check-up, and unfortunately one had an ear infection. Upon arrival, I was kindly greeted by Megan, who I met during the event, she checked us in, weighed them and took us to our room. Photos were taken for their profiles. The rooms were very clean and warm. It didn't feel intimidating, it was very modern. You could swipe on the touch screen and see what your pets need, who their providers are for that visit. Dr. Steve Pullon and Vanessa came in very welcoming and absolutely wanted to just love on my fur babies. They were very thorough and made sure that they had the best care. I had warned them about Poppy being feisty due to her ear infection, they took every precaution and that was gentle but also to protect themselves. They helped flush her ears and gave a medication that stays in her ear for a month, which was helpful to me! I would also like to mention how they made sure to get their records from their previous providers, because Dr. Steve mentioned prior records and I was very surprised. He made sure to review their records before the visit. I highly recommend switching but even more so this location. Chewy VetCare in Boynton Beach had a soft opening today 1/9. I was able to make the appointment online in the Chewy website portal. It was very easy. Someone reached out to me a few days before the appointment to gather previous vet records. I still brought them in during our appointment and they accepted them. While entering, there are bright colors and a clean atmosphere. They have friendly staff who checked us in, offered treats, and beverages for humans! Walking to our exam room, there was a really cool screen outside our room that said "Welcome (pet name)". Inside the room, there was a comfortable seating area and they had a screen up that showed who will we assisting with the exam today. Dr. Steve and Daniel were kind and gentle from start to finish. My dog was in and out of the appointment which is the biggest YES. They then had a goody bag for us to take home which had a cute certificate and some toys! Loved it.
