Not bad overall. I have used Banfield for years and had Wellness plans for two dogs. This location is convenient for me and very accommodating with drop off "emergency" appointments. They don't usually over treat which is nice as some locations do over treat at the owners expense. My most recent experience was a little off putting due to a communication issue. I have never had the tech basically ask me for about $400 in services before the vet even saw the dog to see it they were necessary and did not get a call from the vet with recommendations until around pick up time after I called multiple times. In my experience the vet sees the dog and then based on their expertise makes recommendations / gives you your options. As such, I declined what seemed like premature services including X-rays at a cost of +$400 from the tech because I figured the vet would advise if they were necessary but that didn't happen because no one called me until closing time. Instead I got the car dealer "we cannot replicate the problem" speech, paid for almost $70 in meds without any real indication that it would help from the vet and told to just bring the dog back in 3-5 days for the $400 in services if the problem persists. I probably would have just paid for the $400 in services had they called me earlier in the day and made it seem medically necessary but I was unaware it was a take it or leave it option without any supporting recommendation from the vet. In essence could have wasted my time, $70 and have to shell out another $400 I probably would have paid for if the apt went normally or the dog could be cured for $70 in meds and nothing more. Time will tell. In the scenario above no one offered to upgrade my wellness plan which is a marginal increase in monthly expense but covers me for multiple X-rays (x2 X-rays per year) under the plan and would have saved me about $250 for the scans. Nice buffer in event dog has an issue and needs an X-ray. So basically on this instance they were about the money and not the customer or the dog. I know this from my experience with my now deceased dog who needed X-rays and a different location offered to up the plan to help with the cost of the scans and from their own website which I checked to confirm said plan still exists today. Side note I would question any joint supplements they recommend for older dogs. Not because they are unnecessary but because the dosage varies based on weight which no one ever told me until my old dog who only weighed 13lbs began to suffer from liver failure after taking full size dog doses of joint supplements. Maybe they are unrelated but the timing seems more than coincidental. Ask about dosages to be safe is my point. read more

I went in for a follow up visit today at the Boynton Beach, FL PetSmart location and the Vet recommended I also update my Dog's vaccines and run blood work and a fecal exam. I figured it would be expensive and politely declined, but the assistant in the room started to explain the wellness plan, and told me that for only $114, all of the above mentioned services would be covered by the plan. I decided that $114 was in my budget and agreed that i would be willing to do that. They then took my dog back and performed all the services. When I went to check out, they asked me if I would be paying monthly or up front. They THEN explained that what i verbally agreed to also came with a $42/mo charge and that the out of pocket cost for the day was over $600. So now, I've been baited into giving a verbal confirmation for what i believed would cost $114, but ended up having to reach for $600 out of pocket or $700 for the plan over 12 months. The staff seemed to have no intention of helping me, they just said, "well too bad, we already did the work, your stuck with the bill now." Incredibly unprofessional and felt like a scam. I was looking forward to helping my dog combat his allergies this season, and I've now paid over $900 in 2 weeks to find out he needs new food and a new shampoo. This company should be embarrassed for how they held themselves professionally and opted to not disclose the full price on services until after it was too late to turn back. I'm never "that guy", this is the first online review i have ever written in my life. Just frustrated beyond belief and now out almost a grand. What a joke Banfield is. I Took my jack Russell/ chihuahua mix for dental cleaning, his teeth were absolutely terrible, I really didn't know how good they can possibly clean them because there was just so much build up. He was groggy off the anesthesia for the night but come the morning he was his happy self again. His teeth look AMAZING. They did have to do a few extractions but he is eating, drinking , and sleeping just fine. I never thought his teeth would look this great again, they look as white and clean as a Little puppies teeth. I'm so so so happy with this bandfield location. My dog recently became more fatigued and I suspected something was wrong. I took her over to Banfield in Boynton Beach and saw Dr. Toker who took wonderful care of our old lady. We signed up my dog for a wellness plan and got all the vaccinations, paperwork in order and proceed with some surgery to remove some infected teeth - it went very well, and the whole experience was so pleasant. After a week or so of recovery, my dog was back to being full of energy and there were no issues during any of the follow ups. The staff was friendly and the techs were knowledgeable and attentive. My boyfriend got me a kitten and one day I came home and her eye was swollen and looked like it was rolled back. She was writhing in pain and I freaked out. I ran over to Banfield which was open way later than many other vets on a Saturday. I was helped within 1-2 minutes by the most amazing girl Stacey. She calmed me down and took immediate good care of my kitty Athena. I don't have a lot of money so she helped me make the most affordable options possible and I'm happy to say Athena is doing well today and her eye is better. I have 3 dogs that are like family to me & one of them if suffering from an enlarged heart. She is having a lot of trouble breathing, coughing, panting and is scared and shaking. We are on there wellness plan and I have taken her in 2 times in the last month because it is getting worse and worse and Jeremy keeps telling me to keep trying. They made me feel bad so I said okay and even signed up for another year on the wellness plan the sell you on. Now are family and the dog is suffering! I went in this morning to say she is suffering and we do not want to wait until it becomes an emergency in the middle of the night. Anytime I have mentioned she is suffering and are family does not want her to suffer anymore they send a person named Jeremy to talk to me. He always starts getting very intimidating and any time I mention ending her life peacefully he starts making are family feel guilty and saying we need to keep trying and suggesting that we are okay with just killing her? Which is not right and very unprofessional. Jeremy always sends us home with prescriptions that have not done any good. She is not eating and she is a Chihuahua that is 14 years old and can not go anymore. We Love her like family and it has been a hard decision but there is nothing else we can do. When we signed up for the second year it said in the contract they have a professional that does there Euthanasia and when the time comes they will have there professional do it safely. We have decided it is time and I am starting to think they do not have anyone qualified to do it so they keep pushing it off because they will loose money. Any time I mention that she is suffering Jeremy gets very aggressive and will not let us end her life peacefully. I am writing this review because if they try to sell you this wellness plan do not do it because it is a trap and they do not care! It has not been worth it at all and even though we are going to finish paying the year we have decided to move them to another Vet that has been very personal and understanding. I wish I could give them zero stars. I wouldn't take any of my pets here if their life depended on it and the care was free. I live in San Antonio now, but lived in Boynton Beach when I had taken my cat there. I had taken my cat in for a procedure and the Vet that was supposed to do the procedure wasn't there. Instead of rescheduling, they put another vet on it. He did half the procedure only as he doesn't personally believe in it. If he didn't want to do the surgery, I should have been notified so that I could reschedule. He took it upon himself to do it. This means my pet would have to go through a second surgery. I complained and the manager agreed with me. Once it got to the corporate level, there was suddenly "no more paperwork" on my pet regarding this issue. They had not provided me with paperwork at the time and I was told it was in the computer. read more

This week I had a scheduled visit to Bandfield Boynton location was my best experience in the past 9yrs. I have 3 cats and all of them are on the wellness plans. I mention the plans to show how often I am at the vet's office. My cats were due for some shots and honestly, due to having a very sick cat recently diagnosed with renal disease I was very hesitant about returning. I felt that previous visits indicated a run of the mill atmosphere. Much to my surprise yesterday, I was greeted by a new vet, Dr. Joseph Palmeri assisted by Ms. Nicole. The two of them were so responsive to my questions and showed a genuine concern for my three cats. It's the first time in years that I felt I had a well-qualified vet tending to my cats health care. I only have been here three times. Unfortunately our dog was old and had various health issues. Each of the visits i was greeted and checked in in a timely manner. The vets always did a great job of explaining our options and the treatments that were performed. Unfortunately the final visit was to euthanize our dear pet. I scheduled it for first thing in the morning. Upon arrival i was taken in quickly and quietly. We had our final moments together and the techs and vet were gentle and understanding. For the last 6 years we had our dog on the wellness plan and it was a bargain. I strongly recommend banfield wellness plan as well as this location. read more

This location had their own issues; but the Care we got compared to other locations was indescribable. And we kept coming. One star is given to the company. Their cancellation policy on the wellness plan is disgusting. My dog passed away. They won't cancel the plan; they will non renew it but continue to bill me through the end of the billing cycle-Since we used more services this past year. This is disgusting policy! I never saw a credit when we only used the wellness portion of the plan for 10+ years. This company is greedy! I will never take another pet or refer Bainfield to another person! I noticed my baby had a ear infection, he couldn't be seen where he normally goes so I decided to call up Banfield and I am so happy I did. They had no availability but they knew I was scared knowing my baby was in pain and they knew that an ear infection had to be seen, so they made it possible for him to be seen within one hour of calling! I had to do a drop off visit and I was a little nervous about that but the staff care so much and made me feel 100% comfortable leaving him. He was seen and done in about a little under 45 minutes. He was seen by Dr. Toker who was great she called me and told me everything going on, explained the home care, and told me how he does she had a great energy and I could tell she truly cares. I have heard many negative things about Banfield, but their customer service always seemed on point and my dogs and cat never had any serious issues that needed attending to. I called and was told that I could bring in my dogs poop to get a fecal test in order to have them approved for boarding and when I got to the vet, was turned away and told I was incorrect and they noted that a curbside pickup appointment for the dogs was approved. Unfortunately this was not the information relayed to me, and is not something I can do because of the now limited vet hours and my work schedule. I've never been to a vet that would not do a fecal exam for established pet. I'm disappointment but not surprised after reading other reviews. When I was turned away and told they could not help, I was not offered any solutions and no one offered to make an appointment for my dogs. I most likely would have declined at the time because of my frustration, but at least it would have been an attempt to help the situation. read more

I came here last night for Boomer's routine checkup. I waited 45 minutes after checking in for the appointment before someone came in to examine him. I understand they were busy since it was right before the holiday, but I figured someone would at least popped their head in the room since the door was wide open and say it's was going to be a little while longer. It seemed like they needed more help. Anyway, the vet was very knowledgeable and careful around Boomer. She answered all questions with confidence and made me aware of Boomer's overall health. After I paid for the visit, I walked out without realizing I left the heartworm medication behind. The girl at the desk called me up within 3 minutes and told me I forgot to get it. I'm usually not that forgetful when it comes to stuff like that, so I was happy she did that since I was right before turning on the main intersection. The short story is my elderly dog was ill and although we had been to other doctors and specialists they refused to give him medication to ease his anxiety attacks. FLAT out refused to help him unless they ran all the tests again.... refused to help an animal in obvious discomfort... the D.r who's name I have forgotten (a foreign lady) should not be practicing medicine and I told her and her superiors that to her face. Any Dr. that refuses to help an animal or a human in visual distress should be banned from seeing patients (told them that too) Please if you love your pet so not go here for any reason.... there are many many qualified caring Vets in the area. read more

Extremely disappointed with our experience here. I would never recommend Banfield Pet Hospital to anyone. After making an appointment and coming to the vet, I was told because my husbands name, NOT my name, was on the computer, I couldn't do anything with the dog. I had paperwork to show that I was the owner of the dog and the previous vaccine records with both my first and last name, my husbands name, and the name of the dog. The tech that I was dealing with didn't want to hear it. She rolled her eyes and told me it was THE LAW that until my husband called and told her she was able to put me on the account, that I wouldn't be able to have my dog worked on here. This doesn't make sense. I've used other vets where my husband and I and even my parents were able to bring my dogs in to get checked out and there was never a problem with THE NAME ON THE ACCOUNT. She was extremely rude and not the type of person I would want working my front desk. Think about restaffing Banfield. If thats the type of people that are working face to face, one on one with customers, what type of people are working in the back that we don't get to interact with? Not taking any chances and not giving them any of my business. read more

Once again called to have my dog seen...they never have an appointment available! This is not the first...second or third time. They have no problem signing you up for their wellness plans...but you can never get in to see a Doctor when you call for a sick pet...we can see you next week! They will happily give you the telephone numbers of all the other locations for YOU to call and guess what...they haven't any appointments either. So the issue is over selling the plans and not enough staff to cover the hospitals. I had a renewal coming up in July...cancelled that and will NEVER recommend any Banfield to anyone. read more

The front desk staff is always friendly and pleasant to deal with. I pay 50 dollars a month and its definitely worth it. I want to take the time to thank the staff at Banfield Hospital. The staff is very kind and friendly. The manager, Jeremy, is absolutely awesome. He calmed me down a great deal when I brought my dog in and helped us sign up for the Care Credit since she did need immediate surgery. Also, Dr. Johnson is fantastic. His wife works at a nearby emergency vet hospital and he was the one who performed the X-rays and was able to determine that surgery was necessary. Dr. Johnson was kind enough to speak to me the day of the surgery even though he wasn't the one performing it and once again calmed me down a great deal. My beautiful dog, Maxene, had a stone the size of a softball pressing against her bladder and was in a great deal of pain. We took all of their wonderful suggestions and Dr. Johnson put her on the appropriate medication. He was extremely attentive and spent a great deal of time with us. I cannot thank him enough for that. Also, there are several other techs that had assisted us as well and unfortunately I do not know all of their names but they were fantastic as well. I do remember Samantha who is a vet tech calming me down tremendously as well as my dog, Jayne the receptionist at the front and again Dr. Kevin Johnson and Jeremy were fantastic. All of you played an integral role in saving my dog's life and I cannot thank you enough. God bless and see you for our next check up! read more
