Second: the food is served from a buffet (although, they do have items that you can request from a menu, the majority of the food is served from the buffet). When I went to eat there, I saw people "sampling" the buffet items with their hands!!! If that wasn't bad enough, the food trays are not being attended, so you may pass trays with food that's been there for quite a while (looking anything but appetizing), or they may be empty. The waitstaff are overworked or uninterested because it was next to impossible to get anyone's attention for a soda.. The only thing I can say in Mangai's favor is that it does look charming--so go and look, then eat someplace else.

It's got a big metal tree-like netting on the outside, with industrial cement block outside and a cool running fountain underneath, and large open dining room windows. The inside has deep wood paneling with a curtain of heavy white anchor rope to separate the dining from the reception. It takes two servers to hug the ropes to let you through. The food was amazing but huge family portion style so make sure you share or get a half portion size. We tried the garlic shrimp and the beef dishes which were both quite amazing. Atmosphere, food and service makes this place a winning combination. One thing that was annoying was the family table that let their kids run all over the restaurant, screaming and bumping into servers, which seems to be a disaster waiting to happen. The training paid off because this is one of the best ice cream shops I've experienced not only in Brazil, but considering all my travels. They have about 40 flavors, with 18 available daily. There are three sizes, but it's so good I wanted to eat it per kilo if only my room had a freezer! They opened less than a year ago, so it looks new, clean and organized with a nice patio and an ocean view. The chocolate extra black is made with 75% cacau, making a delicious combination with mint or other flavors.
