One of them is currently one of the best students at Girard College in the first grade and he is 7 years old. His reading level is way more than a first grader and it is due to the solid foundation he got form Discovery place Preschool. The other child is at Bell Avenue but still being picked up by the DAY Care and she is also doing great. My experience with them since 2014 to date has been very supportive. There were some challenges at the beginning with some staff because of cultural differences but it improved with parent and staff meetings. I am so thankful for their support to my kids. They have early morning and later evening hours. Their tucked away location and two door swipe-entry security put my momma heart at ease knowing my babies aren't easily accessible to those with malicious intentions. On the Friday before the first day of school, we were told our child had no spot. Several weeks later, we were offered a spot in a newly hired teacher's classroom. We should have walked away, but at that point, we had no other preschool options. We tried it, but it wasn't right for our child. We asked to switch classrooms for the next year. They said no, but could not produce a written policy to explain why. If all of the above doesn't concern you, know that the teachers are nice, but they are not consistently present as one would think. They are mostly there in the mornings. There are always different substitutes covering for when teachers have other duties and responsibilities, which makes it hard for children to have some sort of consistent learning experience. This is more of a daycare experience than a preschool experience.

The last year of my employment however was mentally draining and the most miserable experience I could ever have at a job. Management doesnt know how to treat their employees and I mean ALL management especially the director and admin. I won't say too much for legal reason but this place doesn't care about their employees and they most definitely dont care about your children. Its all about the money/ enrollments. As a person who's seen, heard, and been through alot with the company I promise you this isn't the place for your child or for anyone who's looking for a job. I will give absolute praise to the few good teachers that have because if it weren't for them im sure this place would be in shambles already. My child started at GFELA this year. I was so nervous, especially since my son had been at his…read moreprevious daycare for three years and was familiar with many faces. However, I have nothing but great things to say about GFELA! 1. Parking - Drop-off and pick-up are usually a hassle at most daycares, but I can always find a free, legal parking spot here. This was an unexpected perk! 2. Teacher Retention - At our previous daycare, there was so much turnover that we could barely remember the teachers' names toward the end. That is NOT the case at GFELA. 3. Security - There is a security guard on the first floor of the building. On the fourth floor, the doors remain locked, and you must call the center to be buzzed in. 4. Director Involvement - Before my son started, the director, Mrs. Unis, personally called me to ensure he would be properly accommodated. She continues to keep me updated on his progress and is very involved in his development. She attends his ELWYN meetings and ensures his teachers provide input to help him get all the therapies he needs. At our previous daycare, I invited the director and teachers to video meetings, but they never attended. Because of that, I assumed directors simply didn't participate. However, when I forwarded the ELWYN meeting invite to Mrs. Unis, I was pleasantly surprised--she and the teachers made themselves available for the meeting! I'm so happy I made the switch!
