It was nothing but God that sent me in my basement to see my boiler was flaming from underneath. Usually there's a glow but this was different the flames were coming outside of the boiler, the parts and chute was covered in soot. I immediately called the gas company and they came and shut off the gas line. It's the dead of the winter and now I have no heat. I didn't know where to begin. I checked the internet but nothing jumped out at me. I went on yelp and began reading reviews and I ran across Lawrence heating & air. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called spoke to a woman who was very pleasant and told me a tech could come out to assess the boiler to see if it was still usable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Joe came and he looked at it and said it it's a hazard. With all the rust and corrosion and not to mention whatever was on fire. He said it needed replacing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He talked to me about the options and stated I would get an email from the owner of my options. 30 mins later the email was there and everything was included. All the info I needed to know about the unit, specs, warranty, parts/tubing for replacement, price. It was a proposal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to Lawrence with my questions and he answered right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I also stated my elderly dad lives with me and elderly need service as soon as possible. That was no problem.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He sent me payment options as well. Once I accepted the proposal and date was locked in and they techs came the next day on time. Randy showed up first, then Joe & Chaly. They immediately put down floor draping and loaded all of the supplies , pipes , boiler, etc. They opened all the radiators starting at the top. All of them were pleasant and very Knowledgeable about their job. Any questions I asked Randy explained. They cleaned up behind themselves and made sure everything was put back in place. Once they were done Randy told me about my new unit and what was removed and put in. This company made the entire stressful event so much more easier, like a weight had been lifted. My AC system gave out after 10 years in the middle of the hottest day of the summer, Glen and his team installed a brand new high-tech system, and had a very complicated job. They were so professional and communicative throughout the whole process. They installed a completely different system but in the same location with more efficiency, serviceability, two flood controls, electronically controlled motor Incase your filter gets dirty the fan will adjust speed to compensate for the blockage a reverse trap and thermal expansion valve to increase efficiency and protect the compressor in the off cycle. My wife and I woke up Saturday to a blisteringly hot house. Our AC wasn't turning on, and we needed it fixed ASAP, seeing as we're in the middle of an awful heat wave. In fact, without mentioning names, some of them were outright rude, as if it was such an inconvenience to them to ask them come out and fix our AC. So I came across Lawrence H&A on Yelp, and they had some stellar reviews, so I gave them a call. Surprisingly, they were able to come out the next day to take a look. They were courteous, were willing to work with my schedule, and even called to let me know they were running a tad late. I definitely appreciated the call. Anyway, once Glen and his partner got here, it took them about 30 seconds to diagnose the problem. Glen was upfront about the problem and the cost immediately, and was honest about what needed to be done and what didn't. Seeing as our unit hadn't been serviced in years, they did some maintenance and cleaning as well as the repair, and Glen was extremely helpful, giving me tips about how to keep the AC unit maintained and efficient. It turns out our AC unit was installed by some lazy contractor when the house was built (5 years before we moved in), but Glen gave me some ways to optimize air flow through the house and probably save some money on my electric bills. I got a message from my tenant the at the AC was not cooling down the apartment. I called 2 other HVAC specialists and no one was able to get there fast enough. I turned to Yelp and found Lawrence Air who said they could be there as early as the next morning. Lawrence was upfront about their service charge policy which included the first hour of labor in the fee. Glen and his partner gave me the courtesy of a phone call to let me know they were running little late. They assessed the unit and compressor on the roof and immediately discovered the issue. I could tell right away that Glen was extremely knowledgeable about HVAC systems. Turns out the roof top compressor had been tampered with. The fan blades were bent and one of the wires to the starter was cut due to the bent blades. They went to the supplier and pickup a new fan, installed it and added freon since it was low - demonstrating to me exactly how much was being added. The system is now working great and my tenant is nice and cool. Overall I was extremely pleased and lucky to have found a professional HVAC technician in Philadelphia that I found to be very trustworthy.
