It's been three years now, but after reading my review over again it's time to update the rest of the story. It wasn't just my puppy that was sick. And according to my vet they still are seeing the same thing with recent puppies from Petland. You have a warranty when you leave but you must use the "Petland" approved vet only. The warranty we paid for only paid for one visit, the first one, when she was diagnosed with the two parasites (Giardia and Coccidia) after that the warranty was voided. Why? Well, it's a fact, a lot of puppies sadly will eat their own poop. Especially if they are kenneled with other puppies. So she sadly reinfected herself because she would get into it as soon as it came out. I know gross but again this happens with so many puppies. Why was the warranty voided?!? I get that she reinfected herself, but it's Petlands fault that she was sick to begin with. We spent over $3k to buy her from Petland and then over $7k to get her over the parasites and healthy. Multiple vet appointments, tests, subcutaneous fluids due to dehydration, medications, cleaning supplies, and so on. It took over 6 months to get her over everything and healthy. When we realized the Petland vet would no longer cover the costs under her warranty she was immediately moved to our regular vet. Thank God because they changed the entire treatment plan and Saved her life. Get this! When I called and schedule her appointment my vet immediately said, "You're kidding me! This is the 5th puppy this week with the same parasites from that Petland store!" The alarm bells went off. I called the store again and told them my concerns. Their puppies were very contagious and very ill and they were spreading the parasites. Customers and kids visiting puppies were at a huge risk of contracting these parasites. The Petland staff was even at risk. My puppy lost over 2 pounds in the three weeks she was in the Petland store. That's a huge weight loss when she was 7.5 pounds when she arrived. They had notes saying they were treating her for a gastrointestinal illness but didn't tell us when we purchased her. Our vet was concerned she would not make it. She cried and trembled in pain. This is wrong!!! You bet I called animal welfare and reported this. Now I've been told again and again by our vet that they continue to see these same problems with new puppies that come in from this store. I was never contacted by Petland. No one checked on us and the situation. They didn't care when I called. It was like out of sight, out of mind. I was lied to about her registration. They charged me extra saying oh she's double registered with the AKC and ICA. Truth is she was not AKC because her mother was not. Upon further investigation I learned that She came from a puppy mill and they sent her home with us knowing she was very ill. I will continue to advocate for these helpless puppies. I'm thankful today to have a happy, healthy girl but hate that she had such a rough start to life. She didn't deserve that. Again, I feel like I rescued her from that pet store three years ago this past August. Please do your research. A good place to get puppies is with a third party called good dog. They are health tested and come with true guarantees. Of course you can always adopt as well. I wouldn't trade my girl for any other dog but I'm truly sad that I supported this store and the puppy mill she came from. read more

Despite my better judgment, I bought a dog from Petland. But guess what? It's been nothing but trouble! This dog has a tongue that sticks out on one side because of her jaw being sideways. She's also lost a lot of hair and sometimes acts crazy. Turns out, this is a hereditary jaw issue. I took her to the vet that Petland requires you to visit because you're not allowed to use your own vet if you want to be covered by their warranty. However, they want to send me to a specialist in Tulsa. And here's the kicker: Petland doesn't pay for anything until I've spent all my money and time getting a diagnosis. Just stopped by. Never been in. We were ignored as so seemed many of the animals were too. The animals were all in good temperment but had their heads down. They seemed shy and disengaged. I forgot what I was going in for and just wanted to leave. That's not like me. I love animals, all animals. This place made me feel real uneasy. I didn't know why. Later when I looked it up online. I feel like I was picking up on some kind of bad energy. I think the reviews on here are suspicious. Several of them are pretending to be 2 different people. The way they are doing business with the vets and insurance appears to be borderline criminal. It is definitely Immoral. That little Papillion that they say is a quality dog. looks precious. but she is a mix. They have very specific coloring and a solid colored head and patches of color on their back are not part of it. Her ears are not right either. They are very happy energetic, confident dogs. I've been reading some of the reviews and I tend to agree or see why so many people are frustrated with Petland and their puppy's health condition. At the same time you have to know who your ordering from. It's like the difference from buying from your local farmers market and Walmart, or maybe a better example would be buying clothes from a designer store or AliExpress. The quality/ experience is going to decline sometimes drastically. I'm not saying your puppy is sick because you bought it from Petland, or that Petland is not at fault for how your puppy acts initially. What I am saying is look at where you are buying your puppy from. They mix kennel dogs all the time, there is no where to take the puppies on grass or outside, they let them lie in their feces, and don't monitor every single one of them 24/7. This is all observable from the point of entry. As soon as you walk in your nose becomes bombarded with smell of urine and puppy poop. Then you look into their kennels and see all types of fecal matter lying in the cage with them. So, when your puppy comes out as sick you can not be upset because it was "unexpected". Look at their living conditions and the kind of store you are buying from. Petland is not here to make sure all these puppies are super well taken care of and thriving. Petland is a business at the end of the day, if there is no profit they wouldn't be open. Hence why they would mislabel dogs that are part of the AKC, or provide health information about the dog that only shows the good side. They are car salesman at the end of the day. I don't know if Petland employees earn commission, however, I can tell you they are selling most of their animals at ridiculous pricing. This brings on its own weird purgatorial question of whether to purchase from Petland in the first place. On one hand you want to take the animal out of that terrible environment and give it a good home, and then on another hand you hate to give your money to an organization like this. Ultimately I think the best way to counter-react places like this from running successfully is if everyone goes and adopts from the animal shelter or local breeders where you can see the kind of environment the pup is being raised in. I actually bought a Bernese Mountain Dog from Petland a few weeks ago, and I do love her. She did have a parasite when we initially took her to the vet, which was one of the recommended vets where the visit was "free". It not actually free they make you sign up for pet insurance, which costs around $80, but it won't charge you for it until two weeks after signing up. You then have to visit a vet that is on Petland's sheet they give you. After your visit you actually still have to pay for the exam upfront. The only way to get your money back, or have the visit become free is to file an insurance claim with the insurance company they make you sign up for to get refunded the money. The insurance will then pay you back, but it might not even be the total cost of the vet visit, just whatever the insurance company believes it's worth to be. After a week the parasite was gone and she's a healthy pup now. I just canceled the insurance after they refunded my vet visit, but there's a lot of hoops to jump through just to get what Petland "supplies". There is also a weird clause with Petland that essentially states if you shop with us enough and your dog ends up dying we will spot you a new one. The only good news I have for my dog almost has nothing to do with Petland itself. She is super well tempered and great with other animals including cats. After what seemed like a long period of potty training she finally doesn't seem to poop or pee in the house (unless left unattended for a long period of time). She is also part of the AKC, which I guess is nice. Overall the Petland experience was terrible, but the dog we purchased was amazing, and a lot of that is contributed to the dogs personality not Petland. read more

The way I found out about this business is a month or so ago they had plastered the corner of Memorial and penn with half off puppies signs. It's been awhile since I have seen a pet store with puppies actually for sale and made wonder if maybe I had misread the sign or not. Maybe I thought it said puppies half off but maybe it meant like puppies supplies half off. NOPE! They indeed sale animals. Ferrets, guinea pigs, snakes, fish, hamsters, birds, cats and of course dogs. Myself I love bulldogs both frenchies and English. They had quite a few English bulldogs but after I found out that they were asking 8000 for them I could completely understand why. Why in the world would someone pay that kind of money for a pet??? There are so many good animals available for adoption that cost a fracture of that kind of money. I'm not saying all breeders are bad but for every good 1 there are 100 bad ones. How about we adopt and not shop until every animal has a good and loving home before we add more to the issue good breeder or not. read more

This place is basically the used car dealership of pets. Prices very high, literally 2x to 4x times what you'd pay elsewhere for the same animal. But they do let you handle your potential pet (except birds and rodents). And the way too many commissioned employees are friendly enough, although their depth of knowledge is shallow. They keep the facilities very clean, including the small booths were one can sit and bond with the puppies. There are no visible price tags for the puppies, seen playing and/or fighting behind glass windows. Price comes only after you see the cute puppy faces, possibly have some play time..Then comes the sales pitch. Where they explain to you why the long list of paid extras like shots and 1 year guarantee are quote-unquote "priceless." The tropical fish (only freshwater) are the only fairly priced pets here, but they lack variety, mainly tetras. read more

Great staff, beautiful dogs. BUT- Do not accept the first marked price on a pet when purchasing from Petland! Please read why. Before I start, let me clear. I am a business owner and not someone who takes lightly giving poor reviews. This is actually my first ever bad review... so I don't take lightly. This is not about the pet quality, the price I paid, or the staff. I have concerns with the morality of the Petland business methods and how they choose to price and profit. After my experience and evaluation, it is evident that they are pinpointing the lower income market who may be desperate to buy a family pet. They rely on their financing and emotional pull to bring in sales. Prices are not marked and pets seem to marked up significantly on some animals. Business must make a profit, I fully understand that as a business owner myself. However, there is an honest profit standard that most Oklahoman business owners abide by in our great state. Petland (in my experience) is bordering a line of dishonest profit. Worse, they are doing so by preying on a specific audience. They are profiting on the emotional tie and lack of knowledge by lower income (and seemingly minority groups). My Petland experience: I purchased a dog for my mother which was originally priced at $9k. Because of my persistence on working to get the price down, we walked out paying $6,400 for the dog with taxes (more than the dog is worth but I'm fine with since it was not the outrageous $9k. Also, taking into account that the dog was healthy, of good lineage and has a warranty). After my research of the lineage, comparables, breeder, and other breeders of the same caliber- it is easily known the dog we purchased is valued at no more than $3k max in Oklahoma. I also know the specific dog I purchased from Petland was acquired by them for only $1500-2000. Yet, they had the sticker price for $9k. Again, I am fine with my dog and the price I (as the consumer) agreed to pay AFTER negotiating the price down because I knew $9k was not worth it. It is more expensive than I would pay direct to a breeder, but my mom fell in love. I can afford that price and paid cash. The end. This review is not intended to get a refund or rant about how much I paid. MY CONCERN- how many families visit Petland that can't afford the marked price, but find out financing is available so agree to a price that is marked triple of what the pet is worth? How many families do not know how to negotiate? How many families are desperate to get a family pet so make an impulse buy without researching? My example it to highlight they the dog I purchased should never have been marked at $9k. Maybe $7k starting would be understandable for a honest profit. How many other dogs in the store are marked at this type of profit margin? If you read this. Know 3 things: 1. Please do not finance a dog. It is an unwise decision for any family just looking for a pet. If you must, make sure to negotiate the animal you purchase from Petland to a much lower price than what they offer you. 2. Ask the price before you let your family even consider holding the puppy. 3. ALWAYS remember honest business practice is crucial to our state of Oklahoma. After playing with my new puppy, we went shopping in the store, because everything I needed came with her, kennel, toys, food, puppy pads, shampoo, AKC papers, microchip, vet services and I mean everything. Bought a Cane Corso on 3/12/25. Almost a month later, I find out that the puppy I bought is not the same one that they gave me to take home. Instead I received an older Cane Corso without any proper paperwork. I'm unable to register my pup with AKC since I have NO CLUE what puppy I actually took home with us. Multiple trips to the vet, countless hours on the phone with AKC and still I have no information on the puppy I currently have in my possession. I've called Petland and Anthony stated he and the manager knew they messed up two days after I bought my pup, but they did not notify me. I've been waiting on the manager to call me back for 3 weeks now, but seems I'm just getting the run around with this place. The puppy I took home was around $1,000 dollars cheaper than the puppy I originally paid for as well. Petland is refusing to make this right and can't even provide proper paperwork for the puppy that I took home. Please look elsewhere and buy from an actual breeder. We have three bearded dragons and a chameleon which means we blow through feeding crickets like there's no tomorrow. We had been going to Petland nearly weekly for a while there because they seem to be the cheapest place in town to get crickets. They ALWAYS put egg-carton in with the crickets (if you don't a good number of them are dead before you get home because they've gouged one another!) and quite often would put cricket quencher or food in as well to make sure they lived if you had more than one stop to make on the way home. They always gave you more crickets than you requested and the store always felt clean and smelled nice, even though they sell ferrets (no offense to ferret lovers but oh my word, the stinkiest animals ever). Well, this last month Petland has just been sad. They've been out of crickets more often than not... this week I went in Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and despite being told Wednesday that the crickets would be coming in sometime that night... no crickets (the poor gal helping me the last visit said she had to go over to Pet Smart to get crickets to feed their animals in the store). I get that it's an issue with the supplier, which they were always up front with, so it's not their fault but still.. such a bummer... But my goodness... all week long the store smelled horribly! I could not believe the stark difference in how the store felt this last week. Not sure what's going on there, but since it's quite a distance for me to get there, even when i'm sorta in the area, I'm probably going to keep going to Pet Supply Plus as they just seem to be more reliable. (Oh, and if you are thinking of Pet Smart... Sunday I went over to get crickets since I couldn't wait any longer for Petland to get their shipment and every single one of their carry out crickets... probably 10 boxes, were all dead.. every... last... cricket! but that's another review....) Might be a while before I give these guys another chance, but I'm sure crickets are not one of their top revenue streams so, there's that. read more

Do not buy pets from here. We bought a female rabbit and unfortunately did not know she was pregnant until we had her for about 3 weeks. We had to modify the dog crate into a rabbit hutch to accommodate the litter. When they were old enough they told me to bring them back. They said it would be a surrendering of pets. I wanted the money back I paid for the mother. And they gave me the run around about contact the store manager, then general manager, then call this number to back to store manager. Let me tell you rabbits go through a lot of hay, bedding and pellets when you have 6-5 bunnies. Anyways they just weren't very helpful. And the guy that's supposed to be management just had a smirk on his face. If they would separate males from females from the beginning this wouldn't have been an issue. I love this place a lot it was great for going to see dogs and going to experience seeing new dog breeds that I've never seen before. I will say this place is a little pricey but so are breeders I think the next dog I decide to get it I will get from a shelter otherwise.the service was great we never just left hanging without someone telling us that we could get another dog. that three dog limit it's kind of stupid although they do want you to buy dogs not just socializing with them this is a great place to go see dogs although buying them can be pricey if you're looking to buy several at a time one is gray and even fish snakes in it gnu bunnies hamsters or ferrets even birds but not several I would go to a breeder or a close friend that is plan on breeding their dog for puppies or of course shelter dogs or just a mut that you find on the street. This place needs to be closed down and all the pets need to be given to actual places that take care of them. There is poop every where in the tiny cages. Most of the animals are covered in it. They drink out of tiny bottles like hamsters and they don't even have food bowls. The animals eat off the floor. There are big dogs in tiny confined cages. It's honestly sad and I feel horrible for these animals. It stinks in there and the animals sit in their own feces. Every time I have been here, the animals are always covered in poop. The staff was very rude. I came in to look at pets with my children for Christmas. The staff helped me 15 minutes later after helping all of the Caucasian customers. They asked for ID very rudely and told us that we could only see the puppies for serious inquiries only, as if they were inquiring I did not have the funds to buy a pet. Do not buy a pet from them.. They are horrible!! I bought a Frenchbull dog puppy and paid a lot of money for him. I had to take him to their vet whom is horrible and shady.. Their vet did not even notice my puppy walked funny. I took him to my vet where I take my other dog. They noticed he walked funny. So, I had an MRI done ($2600 later) and come to find out he has Spinal Bifida.. Surgery will not fix his spine. So I filed a claim to get my money back and I had to take him to their vet yet again and it took him several day to send in his part.. Then they shorted me $700 because they said that is for the AKC stuff and a home kit.. That was supposed to be free. so if it is free why did I have to pay for it? Do not buy a dog from them.. They are horrible and just in it for the money. If you want anything covered under the warranty you have to use their vet and you will only get paid back the amount you paid for the puppy.. So if you pay $6000 for the puppy not including the "free stuff" that is all they will give you back or may in medical fees over the lifetime of the puppy.. So if you get a type of bulldog that money could be gone in less than a year. Oh you also have to file a claim if they were born with a defect, but it has to be done by their 1st birthday.. otherwise you are out of luck.. Good thing my vet caught it. read more

Ouch! That puppy bit me and tore my jeans! The employees totally ignored the incident in spite of my initial scream and subsequent hollering at them to let us out of the cubicle, which I managed on my own. No feigned shock at my torn jeans; no apology. They dallied at giving me back my driver's license, which they hold while you pet the puppies. The poor ten week old Bernese never made eye contact and had no interest in human interaction. He simply sought things to grab with his teeth... Tasmanian devil style. So sad! read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. They wanted 7300 for an Australian Shepherd. One worker told us that the dog was a mini Australian Shepherd and the other told us it was a toy. Then they were telling us different ages when it was obviously younger than the ages they spat out. The poor living conditions for these pups add to the horrible customer service. The dogs don't see daylight, they are expected to use the bathroom in their cage so good luck to anyone trying to crate train or potty train a pup from here.
