Hello, i am a former, employee that used to work for this establishment, under a owner named "mirage". During my time under his management leadership, i have been harassed on multiple occasions, and my comission sales given to other employees, on sales with my own cilents. while i was working there, i reported all my complaints, to the owner aswell to the store manager, named "maltese" and all unprofessional acts that were done. i was called out of my name, hit and threaten and even the owner said nothing to ease the torment, i felt uncomfortable with my time working there, working around a coworkers, that were obnoxious and disrespectful with no courtesy towards customers, animals, products or to the so called family friendly franchised company. i witnessed other employees speak about the same issues i was having, through out the store and heard worse incidents from all departments. As much as i hated to leave this place, among all the amazing customers, i met in a year of employment at petland, i can confidently say this place hasnt been in a great state as i heard it used to be, it definitely has gone downhill, and will continue too, if things are not implemented properly. Rules in a general corporate/ or noncorporate business were not being followed. as instructed I feel bad to whom ever buys a dog or animal from this place under this current ownership, or the families who witnessed any heinous acts. its fun to play with puppies just not one who are sick and getting sold for 5,000- 8,000 per puppy Get your moneys worth, dont listen to the lies from stores like petland, private breeders are the easest route to take for a new companion, and less of cost. I've been taking my pet schnauzer there for grooming for the last three years. I've always been satisfied.

This is the second puppy I've purchased from Petland. The first one had to have surgery within the first 2 months after I bought him. The second one that I just purchased was taken to the vet 3 days after purchase and though the papers said she was treated for worms, she tested positive for a parasite. I don't feel like the store can be trusted. There were so many things just not right with this visit that I would have a hard time recommending them to anyone. Go to a breeder. read more

I have bought 2 Pomeranian puppies from the Monroeville store and a Pomsky from the Robinson store. Each time, the employees were so great and never over pushy. The Monroeville store is super clean and the puppies all looked in great condition. The cages were very clean as well. While it is sad to see puppies in any cage, there are worse places that puppies could be kept, like outside in the cold. At least they are getting love, out of their cage, a clean cage and food! All 3 of my puppies are well adjusted, loving dogs, not one issue with any of them! My last puppy I bought right around Halloween and the salesperson was awesome, she provided a lot of information. Don't got to Petland and have your child bang on the glass! Don't go to Petland and play with a dog and then when they tell you the price, you are shocked! You are not getting a dog at Petland for $500.00, that is just the facts. Don't then go and bash the employees, it is a business. If I had to make any negative comment, I would say that there isn't any type of discount or reward program in place for people who have purchased multiple dogs from the company. I bought a puppie there in November 2023 he ended up dying a week later from pneumonia and a blocked intestine due to guardsis. they would not refund anything but would give a certificate to get a new pup. their warranty is not worth anything and the pups are from a puppy I'll. I was told they came Fro a licensed breeder from Michigan but mine came from Indiana and when I researched the breeder there was some charges for animal cruelty. I will never step foot into a Petland again. read more

You're better off going across the street to PetSmart for pet supplies. The store is cleaner, the prices are cheaper, you have a larger selection and they have a better return policy. I purchased a dog crate yesterday 7/25/20. After getting home, it was determined the crate was too small and I needed the next size up. I returned to the store today, 7/26/2020 with the unopened box. I was told by the manager with the blond hair named Jenna, that they could not accept the return. She told me that I could donate it somewhere and to have a nice day. I hope a dog has diarrhea in this place, the smell doesn't leave for days and Jenna enjoys the aroma. read more

Terrible Customer Service and the staff have No Idea what they are talking and to top it all off they give completely opposite and wrong advice just so you spend the money on things that you are not looking for or need. We in to get a larger Beta Tank. I needed one that plugged in the wall with a filter and wanted to know how many times I should be cleaning the tank and what all was involved with caring for the fish in the tank that the salesman was suggestioning I buy. He said there would be no need to clean this tank because the filter will clean it for me all I needed to do was add water each week. No cleaning. Once I got home and put water in the tank and put it all together there was NO PLUG to hook the filter up because this tank did not have a filter!!! Frustrated!!! So I read the direction and he was right that you had to add water each week. But you do have to clean it every week or twice a week. He did not mention anything about water purification either. So I went to PetsMart in Monroeville and they told me that regardless I will have to clean the tank and sold me the tank I originally was seeking out from Petland. One that plugged in the wall. For less money than the JUNK that peatland sold me that did not meet any of my needs. I tried to return the tank to peatland and they flare out refused to take it back even after I expressed me extreme frustration with their staff and the lies the told me just to get me to buy something that was not all what I was looking for. The manager laughed when I told him I wanted to return it and let me know that was not going to happen regardless. I had bought the tank a week and half prior to trying to return it to the store. This Puppy Mill Joint is the worse con artist and shady as they come. Making their long time customers the victims in their schemes to sucker customers out of their money. I suggest going to Petsmart for all of your needs. They know what they are talking about over their have professionals to help you. Not really sure why they won't give puppy prices over the phone, or why they don't have them listed on their website. After coming here and reading reviews, I see why. $6,600.00 for a puppy? They're hoping you come in, bring your family, everyone falls in love with a puppy, and then they hit you with the astronomical price. You're better off going directly to a breeder, or a humane society. You can get a puppy that is chipped, and spayed or neutered for around 200 bucks from a shelter. If you want a specific breed, such as a Golden Retriever, don't pay this place over 6 grand. You can buy a whole litter for that much from a breeder. read more

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DOG GO TO THE BREEDER NOT HERE. If I could rate it 0 stars I would. Charged me 3x the regular price of a husky and added on a bunch of stuff without discussing it. Not only did they ruin my boyfriend's credit but the dog had worms and is very obviously inbred, she isn't smart like a husky should be, and it's like pulling teeth trying to train her. First day we got her home she immediately dropped a liquid bomb the size of a chihuahua in the middle of my kitchen floor. They treat the dogs like garbage, they feed them all the same food even if they have dietary needs and are literally spewing liquid brown into the bottom of their kennels. I'm glad we got our puppy out of that horrible situation like that but I CANNOT stress enough how important it is to not support this business and the mistreatment of innocent puppies. read more

I spoke to another worker and she told me to just 'hang tight' and wait for a second and she came right up and told me "I'm taking over from here so what do you need." It is a one stop shop for all your pet supplies and the prices aren't that bad and the place is clean. I know there have been some bad reviews but the cages do look clean and the animals pretty well taken care of but I still hate to see them behind the glass. read more

What a wonderful store! The staff are amazing. I took my two grandchildren in to look at puppies and try to relieve my four year old's fear of dogs. I just expected to let him look in the kennels through the glass but when the staff heard he was fearful they offered to let him pet their most docile puppy in the little private cubicles. The young lady who helped held the puppy til my grandson was comfortable . This was such a kind gesture. Now my grandson wants a dog lol! read more

I went into Petland to buy a puppy . After seeing the puppy they gave me the price of 3,800.00, my husband went to actually buy me the puppy and they gave him the price of 4,800.00 ! They also told him they went down on the pricing 3 times!!! The puppy was going on over 24 weeks old and it's starting to become cool in the weather so outside potty training can get difficult! I called their corporate office and after reporting what they were doing they moved the puppy ! After searching all of their other locations I found that same puppy and their corporate office never got back to me! Sad what they get away with , they should not be allowed to sell any puppies, I was so disappointed and found their breeder that sold them the Bishon at $800.00 dollars and they really did a mark up I would never recommend them to anyone ! Months ago I posted the following review:: So I'd like to change my review since they have changed owners. I've never felt more disrespected and ignored. Walking in we were thinking of getting a puppy since we just put one down after 15 years. We found a mini goldendoodle we fell in love with. The young girl who helped us was sweet with the puppies but the manager Janna I think was her name, was absolutely rude to not only her employee in front of us but all 3 times we encountered the manager she totally ignored us. She kept rudely ridiculing the young girl helping us in front of me by the way. Never once apologizing or even acknowledging that we were there. We ended up buying a puppy and honestly we debated not buying it on the sole reason of how unfriendly and rude she was. Never once smiling or even talking to us about the dog. She used the employee as the one to communicate to us but she was standing in front of us too? We had questions and none of them were addressed to us? We were, told if we take our dog to get checked and anything comes up they would credit us for the prescription. Well my dog had hookworms. So I got meds and took the information to them but there response was, you should have checked with us to see if we'd been able to fill the prescription? Nobody told me they filled them at petland? All they said was credit was given for meds with receipt and within the 10 days of purchasing the puppy. So now that's 30 dollars more added to my price. The girls that work there from what I see are so sweet and caring but the 2 managers I encountered especially Janna were by no means qualified to deal with people!! If I knew the owner information I'd love to speak to him. UPDATE:: After following up with the new owner and thinking I was actually appreciated as a person and customer that just spend, THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, I was mistaken! The woman that was rude to us, Janna, was not fired like I was told. She was let go... Apparently let go means moved to another store unless needed at the Monroeville location. This to me was not only a shady move but an outright lie to get me to take my posts down and to stop complaining in public. Had the worst experience at this location today. My friend and i went inside to look into getting a puppy and decided to play with a beagle puppy. About 5 min after being in the pen with the beagle an old couple came in to look at a dog. They passed by us and we heard the woman say she had a beagle puppy as a child and we told her to come look at what we had in the pen. She started talking to us about her current dog and a blonde worker named bri came up and told her to give us space but we told her she was fine and we were the ones to call her over. The manager then comes and tells the old woman she has to leave. He claims she was telling us to buy a dog elsewhere but that conversation never happened. We told him she wasn't bothering us and that isn't what she said at all but he was shaking and kept telling her to get out. We felt SO uncomfortable so we left with the older couple so they weren't embarrassed. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more

So we stopped at the Petland Monroeville to look at some pups. Eventually the guy told us the price for their Golden Retriever and I literally walked away and laughed out loud because the price was outrageous and therefore I said so ($6600.00). I'm sorry but the most expensive dogs we've seen online were like $2000-4000. Anyway, next thing I know, the manager of the store comes over and verbally accosted me, makes a scene and tells me he didn't appreciate me laughing at their outrageous price. He called me rude. I said, nobody's being rude here except you. Extremely unprofessional. The customer is always right. You don't verbally attack a customer because they have an opinion. Used to come here for crickets. I'll be honest I didn't like coming here at all to begin with because they're still supporting puppy Mills but they had my crickets and are right next to my job. I had a bad day today and called to see if they had my crickets in stock. They said yes. I came in. No crickets. Do not buy from this Petland. The purchase price of the puppy is inflated with products you may not need and when you attempt to opt out of them they refuse by telling you it is part of the puppy purchase price. If you pay attention to your receipt you'll see that they are not actually included and are all itemized. They refuse to allow you to return any item they charge you for in this process. Personally, I bought a puppy for $2,199.99 and they told me that a whole list of items were included wit the puppy and that I could not opt out of receiving them. They charged me a $25 doc fee, $299.99 Enhanced Protection Program, $75 Processing fee, $450 Puppy kit, and $65.99 for dog food. I also purchased a collar for $9.99 and leash for $14.99. In total, I paid $3,140.95 plus $266.99 in taxes for a grand total of $3407.94. So essentially, I was forced to purchase $915.98 for things I didn't even need in order to purchase a puppy from Petland Monroeville. When I inquired about the fraudulent activity of this store I was told that there was nothing I could do and I was stuck with the items I never wanted. BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

This is the most racist puppy store I have ever experienced. I scheduled an appointment to look at 3 puppies because I wanted to check on the temperament of different small breeds to bring home to an older dog. I mentioned this to the scheduler when I scheduled the appointment. The manager wasn't accommodating and neither was the salesperson. The manager told me I would have to make another appointment for another day even though the other two puppies weren't reserved while I was there. I asked for clarification. I was told that because I wasn't going to purchase the puppy that I'd originally visited then they weren't going to bring out additional puppies even though there were no other customers in the store. Eventually they changed their mind and decided to get one of the puppies that I'd scheduled to visit. At that time, I decided to leave because if I'm spending over $4500 dollars on a puppy, the least they can do is treat me with respect. I'm in the market to purchase and just know I won't spend a dollar at the general manager's (Laura) store since this is a franchise. Thanks for letting me know before I spent my money. read more

BUYER BEWARE: The worst place you could go to buy an animal! I purchased a 16 week old puppy from them and as soon as I brought her home she began coughing. After making an appointment with my own vet, the puppy was put on antibiotics, which did not help. After another round of antibiotics and no improvement, I called PetLand's "help line" to log my issue. The very next day, my puppy could not stand up on her own and would fall over when she tried to walk. Once again I called their "help line" to find out what I should do. The operator told me to bring the pet to the store that I purchased it from as there would be a on-site vet that could help. That was a complete lie; upon arriving at the store, there was no vet on-site and the soonest the vet would be there would be in 5 days. I asked the Kennel Manager, multiple times, if I should discharge the puppy and take it to an emergency vet clinic, but I was told that they were unsure we could discharge the puppy without their vet's consent and they would try to have the puppy seen in the next 2 days. My family and I went to see our puppy yesterday and there was no improvement, I once again asked if they recommended that I take the puppy to be seen at a emergency vet clinic. Once again I was told that they were doing the best thing for the puppy and the vet would see her Monday (today). Unfortunately my 5 month old puppy passed away this morning either at the vets or at PetLand (speculation on my part, but I'm not sure she ever made it to the vet's office). This is where PetLand takes a terrible situation and makes it worse: After trying for an hour and a half to contact someone from the store to get an explanation as to what happened, the store owner calls me. The first words from his mouth attempted to place blame on me for the puppy being "flea infested," meanwhile, I bought a Soresto collar, from PetLand, the same day I purchased the puppy and put the collar on her before we even exited the store. Not to mention out of all the multiple visits we made to our own vet, never once was a "flea infestation" mentioned. I also told the owner about my previous willingness to take the puppy to an emergency vet clinic, but his response was that I would not be eligible for a refund if I had done that. So basically, you are stuck having to following their inhumane process to care for a sick animal if you want your purchase to be covered, and my dog paid the ultimate price for their negligence. From what I can tell, PetLand immediately starts building a case against you (the owner) so that they do not have to accept blame and issue any type of reimbursement. Without a doubt, I would gladly pay for my pup if she was still alive and doing well, but unfortunately she is not. From my experience at PetLand, it is clear that they care very little for their customers, less for their animals, and too much about their profits. For my puppy's sake, I will never step foot in a PetLand store again and make sure that anyone I talk to, whose looking to buy an animal, knows just how awful an experience I had at PetLand. read more

Well, I guess now is better than never. I might have even posted this stuff before. First bad experience here was in 2017 when I purchased three very young, borderline baby guinea pigs. I asked SO many times if there was any possible way that they were pregnant. I asked THREE different coworkers MANY times. All three PROMISED that there was no chance. Months later, one of my pigs popped out three babies. A month later, another gave birth to two more. I called Petland in both situations, where they told me that all I could do was give the babies to them (not even the moms.) I told them they were born THAT DAY. They didn't understand that issue either time. I called corporate telling them about it and asking for some sort of compensation or at least for some sort of discounted supplies so I could get proper food, hay, toys, etc. to raise them (which I did anyways and spoiled them!) They said that they couldn't do anything. I had to learn everything about raising piggies on my own and took them to the vets for checkups until they were old enough to get good homes. Some time after this, my friend wanted to stop in the store. I saw they had a SINGLE male caged alone. One that I saw in the main cage when I first got mine. (I know because I almost picked him.). Fast forward to the day I started working at the same store - I was told that any unexpected babies returned were put in a freezer and sold as snake food. I was also told that not only do they not sex the small animals, but they don't even know how to. I worked at the Monroeville store for FIVE days in January before I was terminated. I was desperate for a job and worked so hard my few days there. I agreed to work over 8 hours for 4 of the 5 days, and I worked 15 hours on the day I was fired. They don't just treat the puppies poorly, they treat ALL of the animals like trash. Reason I was terminated? I wanted to buy a dying hamster that they had in the back in a hermit TRAVEL cage, with a big water and food bowl that took up so much room that the hamster couldn't even move. The bedding was soaked wet, and so was the hamster, who was shivering like crazy. They told me he had a broken leg from the other hamsters. I picked him up with a towel to dry him, and blood covered it. I asked if I could move him to the empty, clean cage that was slightly bigger and Jen (financing manager) told me no flat out. I then asked if I could buy it for full price, and she blew me off and again said "nope." I transferred it to the bigger cage anyways as I SOBBED. I've never hurt so bad in my life. I held him so close in that towel trying to warm him before anyone saw me. I don't have any regrets in life, except ONE - the fact that I didn't steal the poor hamster that night. Not even five minutes after asking to buy him, I was pulled aside and terminated. They refused to tell me why. They just kept repeating "It just isn't working out." despite all the questions I had. I called for days trying to reach any manager, and every single time, the managers refused and made a specific employee tell me that they "weren't available." That was my worst experience, but not the ONLY one. The sick puppies were locked in TRAVEL SIZE cages and I never saw a single person interact with them. All I knew about them was the cries I heard all day long. No love, no space, nothing. And the non-sick ones weren't much better. They had slightly bigger cages, but were treated just the same. Most of the employees handled those poor dogs so roughly and threw them around like rag dolls. They also refused to give the puppies blankets at night because "they could chew and choke on them." There was a miniature pincher and poodle that I SPECIFICALLY remember. They both were shaking almost VIOLENTLY. Customers were BEGGING me to get them blankets. For hours. The kennel girls kept brushing me off and getting annoyed about me asking. Their response each time was that they would choke. There was zero compassion for animals in that store besides me. I could tell that it had been that way forever. I am so glad that I ended up getting out of there, but I still, to this day, feel tremendous guilt for leaving all of the current and future animals there to suffer and be neglected. Please do not ever shop there or support this store, even if they say "We aren't corporate anymore!" They might even be worse. Is there negative stars? There should be. read more

I went in to look for a puppy. I had my grandkids with me and they picked a German Shepard. The girl seemed rude, but I let it go. I then asked to see a little boxer and she rudely informed me that there was a two puppy limit. Ok, I can understand that they have people that just want to play and not looking to buy. But it was said sooo rudely!!! And I was not over their limit! I then said never mind and went to the front desk to talk to a manager. (ps - I walk 3 miles a day and am in my mid-fifties, in no way do I look unable to care for a puppy) The manager had no interest in my complaint, just sat there and said "Ok, I'll talk to her". Best part, he had no ideal who "her" was and didn't care. He was reading what looked like a newspaper. Good news, got a dog from a local breeder. (at a much better price) read more
