This is my second time coming here look at guns. Plenty of private parking. This an okay gun store but not the best I've ever been in. It is run by local folks. Seem to have more rifles than pistols. Accessories for guns are plenty. They have some used guns also. Which were pushed on myself and hubby. We don't buy used guns unless it's from a close family member or friend. We know its history, if you know what we mean. The customer service is okay. The place is run down inside, dusty, & dirty. Could use a good cleaning and a paint job. If you want individual attention this is your store. Family owned and operated it's truly an old fashioned Mom & Pop type store, so don't expect a shiny display space. Expect guns as far as your eye can see, which you can personally examine closely. Jim the, owner, is very knowledgeable about guns in general. He can also tell you the story of the interesting used guns for resale. At Petrey's you receive face to face service you can't get on the internet. Also known to locals as Petetrys. Customer service leave A LOT to be desired. Overpriced on everything in there, especially firearms. Jim the owner is a decent guy and delivers the best customer service, his staff lacks a lot in the service department. We have only purchased some ammo and parts from there that could not be found anywhere else. If they could have been found elsewhere we would have purchased elsewhere. read more

This shop is impressive for how they deal with customers. I went looking for a deal and information about different types of ammo, and more options for conceal carry. They took time and really made this experience great! I have went to other places before and they had a fancier store but service lacked. Bad customer service. Called 3 times for powder for reloading. Not one call back when they said they would. Went to store and found it way overpriced compared to other local retailers in the area. Sportsman Warehouse in Roanoke or WW Novelty are way better. read more

As a gun and weapons expert, I have high standards for what I buy in this sector. I own a lot of weapons from Philippine fighting knives to AK47s and 74s. Always love my gun shops in VA and training with my guys. Great shop and wonderful staff. read more

I have purchased several firearms from Petrey's Guns. They deal pretty straight up. If you have a trade in you will be told what it is worth and why. New gun prices are in the ball park. They have a good selection of used gun at a variety or prices. Several of their veteran employees are very knowledgeable and willing to help. To start off "the biggest selection in Virginia" is a complete fallacy. It would be generous to say they have a variety, if what your looking for is milsurp rifles or old beat up shotguns and a handful of pistols. After browsing the feeble gun collection I inquire to one of the gentlemen at the counter about a box of .357 magnum cartridges. He tells there isn't a price so he'll go check, eventually after ten minutes of waiting and seeing the same associate just start working with another customer with a consignment I take it upon myself to ask another employee. The employees (which I believe to be the manager) tells me that he is unable to sell me the .357 for he's got to save them for when someone buys a gun in that caliber. I find this to be one of the worst gun stores with the worst service I've ever been to. Thank you Petrey's guns and hardware for wasting my time, but also letting me know to never visit your shop again. read more
