I had to bring in my cat for an urgent visit today. When I called I unfortunately spoke with a person who was not helpful or interested in helping me. When I asked for more assistance she denied my request. I was directed to an ER when it was not appropriate. I called back and spoke to a different person to collect information to take to another vet. I explained why I needed the information and was told to come over immediately. While in the office I told Dr.Patel my experience and he let me know that person would be fired immediately. As a long time patient at Woodbourne I knew this was not the way they handle their clients. I'm very grateful to be able to continue my care here and hope that this issue is resolved and will no longer be a problem for other families looking for care for their pets. read more

We had been taking our dog Bella here for many years. So long in fact that we started with them when they weee initially on woodbourne road. For 16 years Bella was fairly healthy and usually only went for yearly exams and occasional allergies. Bella started getting small growths on her small body. A couple had mushroomed in a bed location and would bust open and bleed. Recently during her wellness one of these were on her hind leg and affecting her walking. One week ago we put her in doctor patrols care for removal alongng with one more small growth on her side. What we got back was an aging dog that had been butchered with a total of 12 cuts and sutures on a small body. Just naproxen for pain and antibiotics. Well the 10 on her back started to pull from the stitches. He took her back and restitched her under a local. Two days later again this time preformed a medical scrub ( so painful that she could barely move) again under local anesthesia. That was not even a week. By that night Bella was having breathing difficulties and was in excruciating pain. We took her to blue pearl emergency ( amazing, caring facility). Within 24 hours we had to put Bella down Dr. Patel preformed unnecessary, unauthorized additional surgery that made Bella's last days agony. DI NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THIS BUTCHER! read more

Back story: I recently moved back to the area and needed a vet for my dog. My dog has allergies so she requires medication to help. My husband and I found this Vet close by and decided to make an appointment. My husband made an appointment over the phone for Wednesday June 5th at 12:15pm during his hour lunch break, which the person on the phone said should be no problem getting in and out and should be about 15 minutes total. My husband drives to the vet and arrives earlier than 12:15pm, checks in with the person behind the desk and gave his name, the dog's name and then he had a seat to wait to be called back. While waiting, 2 people came in and were seen before him. Thinking maybe they were late for their appointment, he said nothing. After 20 minutes he goes up to the desk to ask how much longer it'll be since he has to get back to work. The person behind the desk looks at him blankly and asks if he has an appointment, as if he didn't just talk to her and sat in front of her for the last 20 minutes. The person behind the desk acted as if there was no appointment and that he never checked in to be seen. Instead of causing a scene, my husband left. I'm not exactly sure how hard it is to work the front desk at a Vet because I have never done so, but I would think the man sitting in the waiting room for 20 minutes was waiting for a reason. If not, would you really let a person with no appointment just wait in your waiting room? **EDIT: if there was any back up or delay on their end, she did not explain it at all. She just acted as if my husband didn't JUST talk to her, didn't just check in for his appointment, and had no idea who he was or why he was there** It makes us feel like they don't care about our time or our dog that we were going to trust them to take care of. Now with the wasted time, we will have to find a new vet. The new location looks nice but the service was not worth the looks. Do not recommend. If management is looking for the person behind the desk at this time: she has dark brown/ blackish hair and was working 6/5 12pm-12:45pm. read more

I had taken my about nine year old car in because she was having really weird head twitching and she was off balance and the doctor had come in and just said "you're picking her up wrong" basically. I ended up taking her to the ER because she just stopped moving and couldn't eat. She ended up having to get put down. This doctor did not take his time looking over my cat. Dr. Patel signed off on a new kitten examination for a pure bred cat and in my opinion it was falsified. I bought the cat based in part using the kitten physical health certificate. When I took the kitten to my trusted vet, image attached below, he was visibly uncomfortable letting me know that the assessment that was submitted as flawless was in fact inaccurate and if this was allegedly intentional falsifying medical records is a felony. The two images, minus identifying information are attached below. You be the judge which Dr you would trust. When the phrase 'unfit for purchase' is used on anything, you should be very concerned. read more

Dr. Patel has been my primary vet for years and this clinic is the BEST. We recently had a severe issue for our cat Gandolf (which could've ended poorly due to negligence on VSEC's part) and Dr. Patel and his staff helped us at the last minute with our sweet baby boy. We were up crying throughout the night holding our cat and hoping that Dr. Patel would help and boy did he deliver. We are so grateful to him and we haven't stopped smiling since we brought our sweet boy home. During a wellness check, he does the bare minimum when it comes to handling the animal and the bare minimum when it comes to talking about the animal. This doctor only cares about how much money he can make from the love his patients have for their animals. He will not hesitate to add to the bill if given the chance. 0/10 I do not recommend this veterinarian, for the sake of your wallet and more importantly, the sake of your animal. Dr Patel is excellent. Caring and compassionate I've taken my dogs to him for years. This review has nothing to do with Dr Patel but problems with his office staff. Problems I'm sure are not exclusive to me and reasonably sure he is unaware as they are unlikely to bring it to his attention. I called there three times yesterday to get a prescription for diarrhea medication for my dog after a fecal sample was analyzed the prior day. The very simple but urgent issue became a problem when the same prescription they emailed me just needed to be sent over to chewy.com by them to be filled.The same medication was 30.00 cheaper so I subsequently prepaid for it to be filled there to be sent to me via overnight mail. The girl I spoke to on the phone at Dr Patel's office "Leland" (who only reluctantly gave me her name) seemed clueless to any procedures. She first told me that she would have to check on that and call me back. That didn't happen and I called back later in the afternoon. She put me on hold again for about 10 minutes checking with someone then finally came back and said " sorry we don't do that anymore ." She suggested the prescription they just emailed me I could print out and mail to chewyrx.com. I told her again the issue was time sensitive ie diarrhea urgent and that Cheweyrx.com confirmed this has never been an issue before with Dr patel's office before. I asked " LELAND" to have a manager or senior staff member call me back, but that didn't happen either. I called again right before 5 pm spoke to someone else initially getting the same double talk but when I pressed the issue she finally conceded yes they do still send out prescriptions to chewy.com and had since sent it out for me. I today got another genericly produced followup survey asking me to give them a five-star rating. It's obvious Dr Patel while an excellent vet leaves the day to day running of the office to his staff who quite frankly seem either unknowlegable or improperly trained or worse just flat out plain lazy. There was more concern with telling me to do it myself getting me off the phone than doing THEIR JOB. I also took my dog for a wellness check last month and the records were not updated and keep getting notices that she's passed due for a visit. Dr Patel is an excellent veterinarian but whoever he is employing now is substandard in comparison. I intend post my experience and will be sending him a letter so that he may be at least aware. read more

Dr. Patel is an honest, caring and thorough veterinarian. Last year we were taken advantage of by an unscrupulous veterinarian who led us to believe that our dog was sicker than she was. This led to a $1300 bill. When she presented similar symptoms this spring, we took her to Dr. Patel. He knew right away what was wrong with her (last year we were charged for an overnight stay in an animal hospital, X-rays and blood tests). His fee was very reasonable, and he gave her the same prescription that the unscrupulous vet prescribed the year before. She was fine in a couple if days. Dr. Patel will care for your pet with compassion, and will not try to gouge you like other veterinary centers. I most highly recommend him. read more

I placed order on chewy for a Heart and worm medication and prescription was denied cause veterinarian decided to break the Law and refuse prescriptions that are not filled in the pharmacy that owner has ownership interest. I will no longer take my son here as they work in best interest of veterinarian and their profits then actual pet needs. Let not mention that the veterinarian hung the phone up in middle of conversation when he was questions on his ability to refuse a prescription and whether it was legal. read more

Good prices (he gives discounts for new patients (animal, not the human! Which is neat). Only been here twice so far & each time was wonderful. Desk ladies were so sweet. Was not too long of a wait. Is kind of a small waiting room. My guinea pig had a lung infection or something -- which can be quite common in guineas -- and I got medical drops (antibiotics) for her to drink every day & she was completely healed after about 2 weeks. My cat lovebug had returned after a long time & he gave her shots & gave me a discount. Only had to pay around $80 - $150 ish or something for like $200-$300 worth of stuff. She had lots of stuff to have done from being on the street (not to my knowledge of her being on the street beforehand. I had fostered her in the past & she was born where I live, under my shed). Hands down the worse hospital I have ever dealt with. The receptionist has no idea what is going on. She will put you on hold after every question you ask so she can get a answer because she is untrained and has no clue. They don't give you any explanation of what's going on with your pet after a appt. There are no Dr notes just a receipt. When you call for blood results they hang up on you. When you request records to be faxed they literally ignore the request or make you call 5 times before they will forward them. They are clueless and your better off going ANYWHERE else. read more

I had outstanding service from Woodburne Animal Clinic. The receptionist was able to give my sick doxie an appointment as my own vet was filled and couldnt get my dog in for a appointment.( I understand that vets cant get pets in same day and my vet suggested CARES and VSEC) The receptionist asked appropriate questions and could tell my dog needed help. Dr. Patel was able to assess my dog quickly , order X-rays , fluids and initiate a treatment plan. My dog responded well to the interventions. They let my friend and I stay with him every step of the way, except of course during xrays. Immediately after they started the IV. Sadly, I would not recommend this location. A friend recommended this location for a 2nd opinion and I heard a lot about how caring this Dr. is, so I figured I'd come here for a quick appointment. I needed a 2nd opinion before proceeding to VSEC, so I called and requested an appointment for a 2nd opinion. They understood and scheduled me in. I'll give pros and cons to my experience. We arrived about 10 min in advance to our appointment to make sure we filled out any paperwork and got settled in. Once called, we headed back with our baby for the examination. 1) First mistake: Failure to explain procedure - Don't ignore questions from pet owners/parent The tech immediately made me feel uncomfortable. I placed him down on the table, but my cat tried to go back in my arm. That's normal. He doesn't fight and is extremely gentle. He just was nervous and prefers to be near his mother (me). When I placed him down on the table the tech had something in her hand, and I wasn't sure what it was. All I knew is that she was going to use it on him. I asked her, "What is that for?" She ignored me and preceded to use it, turned around and walked away to write down her reading. I NOW know it's to take his temperature, but she should have explained that or said, "We're going to take his temperature first" before preceding. The fact that she straight up ignored me already made me feel on edge and a little irritated. My sister also looked at me at that point since she also clearly saw that I was ignored. The other thing that irked me was that he wasn't fighting and she proceeded to immediately grab him by the scruff. I know it's a gentle procedure, however, he wasn't fighting or doing anything aggressive. All he did was want to come back to me. If they had said, "We're going to examine him now. First we'll hold him by the scruff of his neck" okay, I would trust her a little bit more. But she just grabbed him without warning. It ticked me off to say the least since he's such a gentle thing. 2) Failure to explain medicinal side effects Once he was diagnosed they recommended a shot which would last 6 months and reduce his symptoms. Great! However, when I asked about side effects I was told, "every medicine has side effects". Extremely unprofessional and that doesn't satisfy a pet owner that cares about what is being put into their pets body. You should explain, "I'm going to prescribe (name of medicine) and the side effects are...(precede to explain side effects of that specific medicine you're prescribing). I'm not going to just approve with an exclamation like that. Let's inject some unknown fluid into my pets body and I'll figure out the side effects later. That's not how it works. My vet always explains specific side effects to the medicine being prescribed. 3) Rudeness shown to customer! Without knowing the side effects I rejected the 6 month medicine, but said yes to blood work. Instead I asked them to write down the name of the medicine so I could think about (*hint* do some research on the side effects). What I didn't realize is the unfriendly tech would be the one taking blood work and that immediately made me alarmed. I didn't feel comfortable with her being alone with him (neither did my sister) and immediately changed my mind. Rejecting the bloodwork immediately offended the Dr which took me by surprise. When I explained I just wanted to take some time to think about it and if I think it's best I'll be back for the procedure. He said "Yes okay okay." Cutting me off. And he proceeded to say I should just take my cat to VSEC as I originally planned as it was a "controversy" to take him back for the allergy medicine. He also made sure to say, "You know we take blood from hundreds of animals". I said, "I'm sure I just want to think about it first". That line alone was enough to hint that he somehow took offense because I rejected bloodwork being done at his clinic. We quickly asked where to pay as we wanted to head out of there quickly. We were stunned at the experience! And even more stunned that anyone would recommend him to us even for a 2nd opinion! However, my reviews are always honest. The pros I can tell from my visit is that Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable as he correctly diagnosed my baby. And his price for a visit was very cheap. Almost half the cost of my normal vet. So this would be a good place for a budget. However, I care about comfort and the care of my cat which is like my child. The cost matters little to me, I only care that he's in good hands and this is not a place I would recommend or visit again. Update: The medicine he would have prescribed does have permanent negative side effects. I recommend pet owners do research and always take pets elsewhere for a 2nd opinion. I found a safer and less stressful method of treatment for allergies with no side effects thanks to a vet at another location. read more

Do not go to this vet. They completely disregard the concerns of their clients. They prescribed my dog a medication that often causes fear and aggression in animals and when I called to try and speak to them about my concerns they told me the doctor would not consider any other treatment option and I can find another vet if I disagree with them. And this is not about a medication that is a narcotic or was I asking them to prescribe anything narcotic. I switched to this office because I heard how great Dr Patel was but I am extremely disappointed in the ethics of this office and that they would treat animals like this. Would not recommend. Office staff is kind, vet techs are also kind, but Dr. Patel is not thorough. This place feels like a fast food place for animal care. It ended up costing us double because of the run around we got here. He gives medication without explaining what it is, directions to give medication, or providing prices. I've had to call numerous times for information like this, never provided on the bottle or on the receipt. He wants to do things to/for your pet without explaining and this office failed to provide care for wounds and post op care, no wonder we ended up spending so much here! You have to rely on the vet tech at times to explain because he can be difficult to understand. My dog had a surgery here, vaccines, infection care and injury care. Everything is "normal" based on Dr responses, which worsened each and all conditions. Dr. Patel doesn't spend much time with his patients, they are in and out! We miss our old vet and wish we didn't move because of this. Note: I went here based off of several positive recommendations. I quickly found out this wasn't the right vet for me. Many rec's were from cat owners. My dog wouldn't even go in the door at our last visit. Beware if you are looking for someone to love your fur child! read more

I review with mixed feelings! I chose Woodbourne Animal Clinic based on Yelp reviews, and it all seemed okay at first. We had a good first visit, where my cat was weighed and vaccinated. Dr. Patel then scanned her for her microchip, which I had implanted in 2009, and couldn't find it! He used 2 different scanners. I was astounded. Turns out it just stopped working.The cost of the check-up was reasonable, and he told me that if the chip company sent him another chip, he would implant it for free. There was an apparent lack of communication between Dr. Patel's staff and himself. When I returned, he knew nothing about the chip company sending it, and so I had to pay for it. Understandable, yes. But after investigating, the chip company did indeed send it and communicated it to his office. (It was on the way, though he didn't know it). So, I'm out of the money for the chip now, and he is getting a free chip. The chip company tried to get him to refund me, and he won't. I understand he has no chip, and why he wouldn't refund now, but he will receive it, and could refund me then! So, he won't be getting any more of my money. I feel it's pretty dishonorable. I was embarrassed to show up for my free replacement microchip and find he knew nothing about it, nor would honor his word. Also, he I realized after both visits that he never commented or asked about the bare belly of my cat, which is obvious. I believe she has some type of allergy, and has for a few years, but an observant vet always points it out to me and tries to suggest solutions. I feel that the scanning for the microchip he did at the first visit made me feel like he was thorough, but in retrospect, the first visit was very quick and missing the bare belly was not thorough. Sorry to write a negative review about this clinic, as it seems others had good experiences, but I feel really irritated about this. I had to do a lot of work to get this replacement chip and get my money back, not to mention stress out my cat by taking her to the vet twice in 2 weeks. And Home Again microchips may also not last the lifetime of your pet, it seems! read more

I live in Doylestown, but my vet does not do doggie dental. I found Dr. Patel from the Pet Assure website. I was very impressed by his reviews. This is a no frills, no nonsense Vet. My 2 year old shih tzu needed an operation for a large tumor in his mouth. Two days after his operation I looked in his mouth and saw no sign of the tumor or any sore from the operation. My baby boy has healed so well and it seemed like he had no pain in the recovery process. Dr. Patel's fees are so much better than any other rip off vet near me.
