    Exam room with a cat
    Brigitte S.

I've been coming to Petsadena since 2020, when I brought my cat to Pasadena from New Orleans. I chose them because they offered a myriad of fancy services and I thought that would translate to impeccable care. Overall, I've had a positive experience with them. There was a few years where they were constantly losing veterinarians and the wait times were long but honestly the last year or two has been very stable. Parking is very limited so I like to get there a little early to get a spot. I make appointments online but I've been able to get same-day appointments on the phone with no extra cost when an urgent matter arises. The staff is usually pretty nice and they've gotten way more efficient with the overall appointment. When you have an appointment you'll fill out a form online asking basic questions about why you're bringing the pet and it captures their diet. However, they ask you the same questions again when you do the intake so I'm not sure why we fill it out before. When the vet tech summons you, you'll take your dog to the scale before going to your room or if you have a cat they'll go to the room and then you put the cat on the table scale. I really like the price transparency at the end of the appointment, it's nice to not be surprised at checkout. They also only charge you out after the vet techs have done the procedure. Sometimes my cat can only tolerate one of the three recommendations so I'll only be charged for the one they complete (and have to come back for the others) but I like that they respect my girls' comfort! I would recommend this place, though I do have pet insurance so the costs aren't as prohibitive to me.

We trust Petsadena and we are very pleased with their service. Everyone is always friendly, caring and professional. What I appreciated most is the care presented to Zoe.

Didn't read any reviews before coming here and glad I didn't because seems like a lot of the new negative reviews are unfair. Most vet offices in pasadena are extremely expensive because of the area. Pet insurance unfortunately isn't amazing and animals can't talk so vets usually have to order a range of tests to be safe. I saw doctor Goo and she was great. I just recently adopted my dog and was coming in after she started limping. Making an appointment online was easy. My old vet in another neighborhood didn't ask for a deposit for a first appointment, but this and the other vet's office I called both did so seems to be the norm here. Dr Goo is very knowledgeable and personable. My dog felt very comfortable with her and Dr Goo was so thorough in her examination. She answered all my questions and has a very kind demeanor. My dog also really liked her too so always a good sign. She did lay out every possible issue with my dog's sudden onset of limping (ranging from most likely: injury to least likely: cancer), but ordered tests appropriately (she said she'd only test for cancer if the medication prescribed didn't improve the limp). So be ready to hear all possibilities! Also the vet techs and front desk are all lovely and proactive with their help. My dog is leash reactive around other dogs and there's no judgement there. They've also shared updates on my dog when signing me out after Dr Goo is done. Only reason I took off a star is it seems like the vets/staff are stretched thin. Dr Goo spent plenty of time with me, but she mentioned wanting to prescribe antibiotics at our first visit. She might've forgot or forgot to tell me that she wanted to monitor how the pain medication helped with my dog's limp, but it wasn't communicated and I ended up making a second appointment to flag the issue. They also wanted to make a cone for my dog before we left, but didn't have it ready so I told them it was okay because I had one at home (i was wrong and didn't so I had to go back lol). It was partially on me for not double checking with the vet/vet techs in the described incidents above, but when you're nervous about your dog, it's hard to remember. Overall, relatively minor, but a little painful for the wallet so learn from me and double check! Parking is a pain especially if you go during peak hours. I try to go early in the morning to avoid it, but the staff does try to help with parking (I had to move my car for someone else to be able to leave thanks to a staff person facilitating it). But be warned to give yourself time to find parking especially if the good spots in the tiny lot are taken. I do like this vet and the care I've received in my past 3 visits so while I live here, I'll keep going. If budget is a bigger worry than convenience, it might be worthwhile to find a vet deeper in the suburbs. In terms of care, I am deeply satisfied.

Totally unnecessary and disregarded any sort of care for my dog. I wouldn't recommend Petsadena if you care about your pet.

Is this vet taking new pets?

Yes definitely and very quick/easy to get in! I worked at a veterinary emergency clinic for years and would refer people for this very reason. My roommate recently took her cat in and got an appointment within a few days :)

What is the exam price? Looking for a new vet that's closer to my home.

I just checked my invoice and wellness exam is 72.00. It is a very thorough and complete exam.

Do you guys take in exotic animals ..rabbits?

Hello Nga, Thank you for your interest in our hospital, however unfortunately we currently do not treat exotics. We only treat canines & felines at our facility.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

I paid at the end, the receptionist called the team to confirm nothing else was needed on my end, then I left. I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

On the day we had to euthanize Betty, our daughter first thought she couldn't be present but then changed her mind. We were charged an additional 125 dollars just to be in the room with her. That felt really insensitive on an already heartbreaking day. We spent around $2,000 total between treatment and euthanasia. I was able to pet her throughout the entire procedure and up until the very last moment we assisted her onto the stretcher. I am so grateful I could spend those crucial final moments comforting her. We preferred communal cremation, so the rates were within the ballpark of other at-home services I had consulted with. However the stellar attentiveness, gentleness, and empathy that Dr. Kevin provided, in addition to his same-day availability on such short notice and all of the glowing reviews here, had my heart set on him from the beginning. The animal that I brought in was a hospice foster that was in my home for over a year, and I was told I could hold her while she was euthanized. The rescue had called ahead with the details and I gave them the dog, but they then ignored me for two hours. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. An apology was issued to the rescue, but never to me. Having to euthanize a pet is a devastating experience. They made it ten times worse than it had to be. My heart goes out to anyone who has been treated like this by this hospital
