Great grooming experience! Looking in the area, PetSmart offered the most services for one price. Many others consider everything add-on worthy. If you go online and look at grooming services you should find some great deals. I paid half price by using the package deal for a first time grooming. Beware that if you get the brush only package and there is matted hair, they charge an extra $10 for removal. I don't mind since they were upfront about the charge. After the service my two babies look amazing! They suggested some products for itching and other services specific to my pets. Great attitudes, well organized, and booking on the app helps save money. Overall a good experience and we will definitely return. read more

Great service from the roaming PetSmartonians wandering around. I went in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday to buy a new dog crate for airline travel. I will say that compared to Home Depot of other "big box" stores there is a lot of available customer service. Prices are not cheap - but not over the top. Clean store. Only one register open and when four-five people are in like someone shrugs and comes over and opens up a second checkout line. So the person waiting less time than me gets to check out before me. Very annoying and they don't operate like that in other countries - because customer service is first, not an afterthought when the lines are long. read more

I took my puppy (a white teacup poodle) to have his first hair cup The poor puppy got a ugly eyes infection on the eyes and it's been over 2 months and his eyes are pink as well as his lips area and back paws. Bottom line up front: this place has no energy, it is fully stocked with knowledgeable and energetic employees available to help you, but the dull atmosphere and lack of excitement in the building makes it a place that is not as welcoming as other pet places in the area. As I stated the staff is friendly and helpful and pointed me right to the products that I needed to get for my dog. As a big box pet store it is daunting how large and impersonal the product placement is within this organization. Thousands of collars, hundreds of different types of dog food, and even multiple dog beds and pet snacks. It feels like you have multiple choices but no uniqueness. Place is terrible for fish. Went in for fish and half the tanks were empty. ALL were dirty. Looked at the betta and more than half needed their water changed (water was yellow and had poop settled at the bottom) found 4 dead betta and several others that were almost dead. I tried to give them to someone that was cleaning the amphibian tanks and he ignored me. The only one that seemed semi concerned was the cashier. Not concerned enough to take the dead fish from me or call management (that was at the next register ignoring the whole thing). I should've taken pictures but I was so upset. Very friendly service. Great selection. We were able to get the bed my doggo needed. Bathroom were clean and check out was fast an easy. I normally don't shop here but we needed a bed for the puppers and the ones online were super pricy. They even had the one we wanted on sale. We will continue to go there. I was browsing the store while waiting for my pups to finish their grooming appointments and I had 3 different staff members ask if I needed any assistance. I have visited this place twice for grooming. The first time they nipped my dog. I let it go as an accident and tried a second time, the second time they were really busy and my dog was nervous (which makes sense since they had cut him before) they tried to make it seem like my dog was being aggressive, just to send me off and not service me. I have taken my dog to the vet and a different groomer before and he has never been aggressive. Both times the employees were also rude right at the door it's like they don't want to answer any questions that you may have. Worst place ever! read more

We have been going to this petsmart for grooming for 10+ years, and within the last 6 months we have received terrible customer service. We had never had an issues in the past with our dogs getting groomed until 6 months ago. The groomers do what they want in regards to our dogs hair cut, we have a shitzu and they shave her down to the skin against our wishes. Last night she had a grooming appointment and half way through her service they call us telling us the refuse to finish her cut. They left my dog half shaved, down her back. It looks like my dog was run over by a lawn mower. Grooming staff is so friendly and kind. The groomer named Amber did my dogs nail clip & grind, and my dog did better than she ever had with cooperating with the work. My dog is timid with people so really appreciated her patience and gentleness when interacting with my dog. I really think it made a big difference with how she behaved/reacted, where she was visibly more calm and didn't move around nearly as much when getting them clipped and ground. read more

Upon scheduling my appointment online I selected that my pet would've had vaccinations within 48 hours. Upon arriving this information seemed as a surprise to the staff member "Penni". She turned me away and rescheduled me for two days later. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, I was turned away again by Penni. This time she claimed my dogs, ear hair was too matted. Absolutely terrible grooming department - I dropped my dog off at 6pm and went back at 815pm, because the stylist said that he'd be done around then. I come back her flirting with some random guy that was there before I left, and my dog had only been washed and was "getting 15 more minutes in the dryer". I took my cockapoo to this Pet Smart to get groomed. I requested for a full grooming (Trim, Bath, Nails etc.) For starters, my appointment was at 2:30 and they did not take my dog back to begin her grooming until 4:00. Once they did take her back I assumed it wouldn't take more than 2 hours. By 6:30 I was still waiting for my dog. When they finally brought her out, her nails were not trimmed and her paw pads were not shaved down. I had to ask them to take her back to fix these issues. Upon getting her home o discovered that a large portion of her neck was nicked and ended up scanning. For an 11lb dog the 2inch scab seemed rather large. There had been no mention of this from the groomers either. Lastly, I was making an appointment on the phone and apparently by the time I was finished providing information someone else booked that time and it was no longer available. read more

They passed last year, sadly, I rescued Pixie, a senior, diabetic 4.4 pound toy poodle and Penni has not disappointed. I made an appointment online for a dog grooming a week ago. I filled out all the information online ... there was a question whether my dog has a heart murmur and I responded yes. There's a comment post check-in that "If you answered "Yes" to one or more questions in the questionnaire, an associate will ask for more details in store to continue learning more about your pet so we can best serve you." So bright and early on a Sunday morning, I show up with my dog for the scheduled appointment, and then they tell me they need to call my dog's vet to ask about the level of his heart murmur. Of course, being a Sunday morning, no one can answer that question. What a waste of time. In the time that I made the appointment to the actual appointment, you'd think that they would reach out to get more information and not waste time for me or for them by having to show up when it seems like a common practice to contact the vet in case of a heart murmur. And, to top it all off, all the questions that I answered online didn't seem to make it to the local store, nor were the staff there familiar with what PetSmart asks in the online questionnaire. This is my least favorite PetSmart. They never have the pet food I need, and they seem to have very low quantities of items. They don't have a lot of staff to ask for help, and the staff seem to always be scrambling. I usually just go to Petco instead or the Petsmart in Bowie. read more

I love visiting PetSmart. I have 3 cute birdies who flies around the house and a giant tnk full of Fishies. I feel very comfortable at the store and the folks working there are amazing. I love the fact that they stopped carrying larger birds like conures. Petco still does though and that why I no longer go there. Full disclosure - this review is about the Annapolis PetSmart Grooming Salon. Back in February of this year, I had taken my dog to get groomed at this location. Upon arrival, I had talked with the groomer, initialed the paperwork, and handed my pet over to get poked and prodded for the next 4 hours. A few hours later, I get the phone call stating that my dog was ready to be picked up. Exciting, right!? That's what I thought until I got there and immediately noticed that not only was the quality of her hair cut horrid (uneven ears, uncut hair in several places, etc.), but she had severe razor burn on her face, her stomach, and in her private area. While I have read that razor burn is not uncommon in Poodles, I would think that a pet grooming salon would be more familiar with this, and, at the very least, address it upon arrival because of its severity. (Thank God for coconut oil.) Without saying a word, I drove home. I'm not one for confrontation. I typically handle things like this in a "I'm never coming back here again" manner. My mom had a different thought process. As SOON as we got in the car, my mom called the salon to bring what we had just discovered to their attention. Adam, the manager, was not available, so we left a message and demanded that he call us back. When we got his phone call, he was very apologetic and quick to offer to fix her up himself if we brought her back in. At that point, I had already done it myself and, to be completely honest, I didn't want my dog to be in their care again. Adam insisted that the next time we brought her in, he would personally cut her hair himself and offer 50% off. I was extremely hesitant, but I went with it. Fast forward a few months and now we're in July. After spending the last few months grooming my dog myself, I finally felt comfortable enough to make the appointment for Adam to exercise his skills (2 weeks ago to this day). When I showed up, Adam and I had gone over how I wanted my dog's hair to be groomed, which ended with him asking me to go over what had happened back in February. I described the whole situation to him only for him to "let me know and to be clear" that this was a one-time thing and that they typically don't let this happen if a person calls and complains months after an incident... Really? We called the salon before we even reached my house. We spoke on the phone with HIM. I guess lectures are given to unhappy customers at this place, even though the customer did the right thing. Prior to these two experiences, I have never had an issue with the Annapolis PetSmart Grooming Salon. I've been a very happy customer up until now. As many other people have said in their reviews, the lack of customer service is real at this location and I don't plan on bringing my business back. No more getting bribed with free sub par service again. ***UPDATE: The haircut ended up being decent, with just a little bit of razor burn on the butt area. HOWEVER, it didn't take long to realize she did not receive a bath despite being there for the full 4 hours... I even watched him start her cut before I could even leave the building. A week ago was my third time at this grooming salon, the first two times were just okay, but nothing egregious had happened so I booked a third time. When I arrived for my 8:00am appointment, I learned that the groomer booked both my dog and another dog at 8:00am. Since I arrived first, my dog was checked in first. I then went out to my car to leave when I received a call saying they could not groom her because she would not get in the kennel. It was never explained to me that she would be put in a kennel or else I would have gone elsewhere to begin with. The groomer blamed me for not making an "express" appointment to accommodate my pet. However, an express appointment was never offered or explained to me in the two other times I had been there. She stated that she could not groom my pet, because she had to groom the other pet that she made an identical appointment time with. Why were two pets booked at the same time? Why didn't they just tell me the time they could actually accommodate my pet rather than put her in a kennel to begin with as that is the time I would have been happy to bring her to avoid this altogether? She encouraged me to book another day, but I explained to her this is the only time I have available, which is why I made this appointment several weeks in advance, but she did not care. The manager came and doubled down and basically said it's my issue and they're not going to groom my dog. As a previous reviewer wrote (and I wish I had read it before booking), they are unprofessional. Take your business elsewhere. read more

When I went in yesterday, I encountered the most positive and helpful employees. I had a really nice conversation with a cashier as I was buying some dog food- she recognized my email address and said she is enrolled in classes at a college where I am an alum. Very pleasant and one of the few places around to sell the food I need for my senior dog (Iams Senior, dark blue bag). I do not live close to this store but my 84-year old father lives near by so I gave him my order number for my dog food. He drove to the Annapolis store to pick up the order but Kayla Jones, the manager would not give him the order. I called the store to let her know that I was authorizing him to pick up the order, but she refused to release the order to him. I offered to send my ID but she hung up on me. I tried to call back and she would not answer. I called from a different phone and spoke to someone else who simply need me to confirm my father's name. Kayla should be FIRED. We attended group Puppy Training classes with Instructor Michelle. Michelle is an excellent instructor, and it is obvious she enjoys her job, making each class effective, enjoyable and fun. I signed up for the classes with the intention of just my wife taking her new puppy, but found myself also attending the classes with them, and always found myself looking forward to the next class. The focus is on group teaching the owners, with personal attention as needed to fully grasp the learning approach. The puppies attending also receive the important people and dog socializing benefits. The cost is very reasonable. read more

This is regarding the grooming. My husband made the appointment as he usually does. He asked me to drop off the dog. I wanted to make sure I had the right location before I went in but couldn't reach my husband. The three groomers I met upon entering all said I did not have a appointment (without even stepping away from their grooming tables). 40 minutes later my husband called them back. Our appointment just popped up apparently. We will not waste our time attempting to go to this business again for grooming. We all have bad days but owe it to customers to try. read more
