CCC: He has not gotten sick once since coming here. Others: Got kennel cough and a few other illnesses. CCC: He loves the staff Others: He loved 50% of them.

I completed all necessary questions, completion of documents, physicals, etc. prior to admittance. I explained the care my that was needed, and I was assured that he was in good hands. Unfortunately, upon departure, Scotty was given to me in my arms rather than placing him on the floor I noticed unusual behavior and poor hygiene. Upon arrival at home I placed him in grass to potty and he could barely stand. I picked him up and took him inside and begin to wipe him off and I noticed that his front paw pads were damaged. It was obvious that an injury was sustained. I attempted to communicate by calling and emailing this company. I was able to raise my concerns with the staff. Eventually the owner, Laura responded to my email. She admitted that she meant to communicate with me before my departure, but I had already left. I could have been contacted when the injury was observed. They did not notify me of any issues and I called three times while on vacation. I never received any report cards on a daily basis as mentioned on the website. Laura also implied that it was my fault as owners are not aware that concrete can burn off the paw pads. I do not walk my dog on hot concrete. Cozy Canine places dogs in outside kennels with rocks. It was a concern of mines and I asked about the hot rocks. I was told that they monitor all pets and only keep them out for a short while when it is hot outside. I took my dog to the vet and the vet said that it looked like his paw pads had been pulled off. The paw pad was badly infected and was treated. We went back to the vet twice and the paw was not healing. This impacted Scotty because he was suffering. I could not see him continue to suffer. I had to have him euthanized. It has also affected my family and I because he was part of our family for 17 years and we loved him. It was his one month anniversary of his death on 8/21/2026. I am sharing this review so other pet owners can make an informed decision. I hope the facility addresses these issues and improves the quality of care for the animals entrusted to them. I have raised my concerns with the owner, but no resolution offered.

When we picked our dog up around 12:30 in the afternoon, he immediately ran outside and urinated for several minutes straight, followed by urgently needing to relieve himself again for a bowel movement. As longtime dog owners, we know our dog's routine very well. He is walked every morning and evening, and if he has truly been taken on a "mile walk," he absolutely would have relieved himself during that time. Concerned, I went back inside and asked staff when he had last been taken out. I was told he had gone on a mile walk at 10:30 a.m. However, based on our dog's condition and behavior upon pickup, that explanation simply did not align with reality. What troubled me most was not just the possibility that our dog may not have been properly walked or given adequate bathroom breaks, but the feeling that we were not being told the truth. Any boarding facility caring for animals should prioritize honesty, transparency, and the wellbeing of pets in their care. I understand that boarding environments can be busy, and no facility is perfect. But leaving a dog visibly desperate to relieve itself after being picked up is unacceptable and heartbreaking for any pet owner to witness. I would strongly encourage other pet owners to ask detailed questions about potty break schedules, walks, supervision, and communication before boarding their pets here.

My dog required an emergency tracheostomy to survive due to their negligence, yet the facility continues to deny any wrongdoing. Their response has been nothing but denial, blame-shifting, and excuses. They claim it was "nobody's fault but the breeder," despite no such medical issue appearing in veterinary records or emergency reports. My dog now has a  hole in his throat and required a second surgery just to have a chance at quality of life. As an overnight facility, they should understand the fragile nature of brachycephalic dogs. If they cannot properly care for them, they should not accept these dogs at all. Their denial and misrepresentation show a dangerous lack of understanding and accountability. Dogwood Acres claims my dog was outside only "9 minutes" on a "68-degree, breezy day." If true, how did he collapse into a life-threatening brachycephalic crisis that cost me $17,000 to save his life? There are no cameras, no accountability, and no answers, only excuses. They clearly left my dogs out in the heat for too long with no proper care! This facility is reckless, unsafe, and untrustworthy. They nearly killed my dog. Avoid Dogwood Acres at all costs.

My dog was returned to me with a huge bloody wound on the top of her head. Nobody contacted me to tell me what happened or when. My Vet was not contacted and looks like No medical attention was given!! The young lady stated the temperament testing was free, (I learned this was not true once I got there and signed my pup up for the day). (FIRST NEGATIVE) Prior to leaving, I had my own water bowl and water for my pup. The young lady said, oh no, we provide water for your dog. ALL OF THE DOGS DRINK OUT OF THE SAME BOWL. (I knew I should have gotten my dog and left then but I didn't). (SECOND NEGATIVE) At the conclusion of the testing, they are suppose to provide a physical report card of how well your pup did. Fast forward to the pickup. When they brought my pup out, he did not look like how I dropped him off (I'm not complaining about this because he was playing with other dogs.) BUT, he smelled like the other dogs ganged up on him and dumped urine all over him. Ohhh goodness, he was a stinky mess. I did not inquire about this, which I should have. (THIRD NEGATIVE). When I asked for the report card, the young lady goes, "oh I'm sorry, he doesn't have one because there were a lot of dogs today." REALLY?!? But you took my money with no problem. (FOURTH NEGATIVE) The moral to this story, there are too many negatives for the initial consultation so I will pass.

My two Bernedoodles were groomed by this company, and both of them sustained injuries during the…read moreappointment. My male dog suffered severe cuts in his private area, between his legs, on his belly, and even on his ankle. My female dog was also cut between her legs and ended up with infections in both ears due to the groomer, Crystal. She tried to blame these injuries on "matting" and refused to take responsibility, even going so far as to suggest that my male dog somehow caused these wounds himself. Immediately after the grooming, cones were placed on both dogs. Crystal herself acknowledged the cuts while she was still working on my male dog, but I didn't realize how extensive the injuries were until I examined him thoroughly after she left. While my female dog's injuries were less severe she caused an infection in both ears by plucking her ears with who knows what infected and dirty instrument after I explicitly told her not to! My male dog's wounds were far beyond anything that should ever happen during a grooming session. What makes her explanation even more unbelievable is that the worst matting was on his chest, yet there are no cuts there. Because of this negligence, we had to rush both dogs to the vet, resulting in unexpected medical bills for treatment and medication. Both dogs were forced to wear cones for an unknown amount of time until they heal, causing them unnecessary discomfort. The vet was shocked by the injuries and agreed that what happened was completely unacceptable. I trusted this business to care for my dogs, and instead they were harmed. To make matters worse, Crystal denied responsibility and gave misleading explanations. This isn't the first time I've had concerns. On a previous visit, another groomer from this same business cut my dog's paws. I reported it to Crystal (she claimed he was a rookie groomer) trusting she would be more careful moving forward. Instead, she caused even more serious injuries this time. For the high prices they charge, I expected professional, competent care. I chose this grooming service because of their glowing reviews, but my experience has been the complete opposite. The owner, Mike Bass, didn't even have the decency to return my calls after the incident. Instead, he chose to block my number. I should have trusted my instincts after hearing how rude and unpleasant he sounded when I first booked an appointment over a year ago. And to be clear, I'm not a one‑time customer. I've been using their services since August 2024. He even fabricated claims that I had gone through four groomers before his company and that I complained about all of them. That is simply untrue. My dogs are only two years old, and they had one groomer before Pup Scouts Annapolis. This business takes responsibility for absolutely nothing. They immediately sided with the groomer, who lied about the situation, rather than acknowledging the harm done. Their pattern is clear: deny, dismiss, and defend their staff no matter what. I even had to repeatedly text Crystal just to get an appointment after the government shutdown affected our schedule. If she no longer wanted to groom my dogs for whatever reason, especially since she lives far from us, she could have simply said so instead of harming the dogs to avoid future appointments. Future and current customers deserve to know that this business refuses to accept accountability and prioritizes protecting their groomers over the well‑being of the animals in their care. What Pup Scouts Annapolis calls "transparency" is nothing more than shifting blame onto pet owners and past groomers.

All I can say is "Wow"…read more I'd never found a vet that I felt really good about until my recent visit to Healing Paws. My fuzzy son is terrified of everyone... he gets anxiety just seeing a stranger, let alone having one poke and prod at him. Dr. Jennifer Levitsky gave us an hour for our first visit and took her time getting to know my pooch before she even touched him. By the end of the visit he was more comfortable and probably the least frightened/tense that I've ever seen him at the vet. The office is amazing. It's beautiful and was designed with the client in mind! From the non slip floors to the homey feeling examination rooms (complete with dog beds and toys) it was an awesome environment. Dr. Levitsky not only answered all of my questions and concerns and did it in a way that I felt she was educating me, not lecturing me! I have always hated when vets say "you're doing that wrong" without much information of why. Dr. L answered all my Whys without even having to ask. I really look forward to an on going care relationship with this office, the Dr and staff are just awesome!
