I've only used the groomers here once, and they were pretty good. I also ordered dog food on line once, found it not to be what I was looking for and was able to return it at the store, no problem. The customer service in this store is awful. I just went in to purchase a ball for my dog and when I got to the cashier - he said what is your phone number? No "Hi - how are you", just wanted my phone number. I said it was just a $5.00 ball and did not want to give my phone number. He repeatedly asked for my phone number getting more frustrated with me each time - he asked for my phone number 4 times. Then he said "I have to meet my quota". So employees get points for getting customer's phone numbers. God only know what they do with our phone numbers. He was very young, immature, and rude. He should not have been at the Cashiers working with customers. So their employees only want to help customers to get points - not because they want to give all customers good service. This review does not apply to the entire PetSmart facility as you know it is multilayered. The grooming department has proven to be professional & customer service oriented as is the PetSmart Store. My complaint is the online ordering, auto ship department. I have been utilizing PetSmart as a whole for over nine years, and they are not all created equally some facilities are far more adept and professional than others. However, when it comes to the online service, they are incredibly inefficient. They have messed up a minimum of 15-20 of my auto ship orders. I have complained on every issue that was received in disarray in an attempt to allow them the opportunity to correct the errors. Out of all of the twenty orders I was offered a refund one time of $100.00. I have scoured all other pet delivery services looking for the one chicken item that I purchase from PetSmart to no avail, otherwise I would have definitely cancelled my entire affiliation with them. I do not recommend using the online food delivery or product service. read more

Matt, the store manager, has always been very helpful to me whenever I've had an issue at Petsmart. All the people that work there are fantastic. That is what you want in a pet store. You can go to Petco, or buy online, but I prefer the assistance I get at Apple Valley Petsmart. Their grooming is always good, and Banfield is very good. I walked in yesterday around 8:20 and walked to the back to use the restroom before I made my purchase. I saw they have a code so I asked a guy up front, Keith, who claimed to be the manager and said "no it's way too late for that". Not only that but before he responded to me he hesitated and thought about letting me in or not for a few seconds. I felt racially profiled. As I went back to grab what I needed and made my purchase. Before I left he was still up front and I asked why "what's up with the restroom situation why won't you let me use it". He said "people go in there and do things they aren't supposed to do". I then asked what time do restrooms close and he said at 6:00 even though they close at 9:00. I then said "I feel like you won't let me into the restroom because of my ethnicity and the manager responded with "that's completely bullshit". Very unprofessional of him but what really made me feel discriminated was the fact that he had to look at me for a second and think about whether or not he should let me in. I felt like I was ripped off. I purchase my dog food from here and i spend about $60 dollars per trip and just to not be allowed to use the restroom because of my appearance definitely feels like a ripoff. read more

Love this petsmart location. They are great and caring. Always used to come here to get my dog groomed and would make vet appointments at the clinic here also. Appreciate them so much for everything. This is a great store and will definitely meet all of your shopping needs! Your furry friend will be so grateful! Below attached is a photo of my sweet chihuahua Jillian. I took her to get groomed about a week and a half before she passed away. We had no way she was going to pass so soon. She was 17 years old and was struggling with a heart condition, a collapsed trachea and potentially a brain tumor that was causing her to have seizures at the end of her life. She struggled and held on for as long as she could. I will always appreciate the years we spent together and I loved her so very much! I'll miss her forever! Best dog ever and such a sweet, smart, and funny little girl. Thankyou petsmart for pampering my baby one last time. read more

I got my email saying that my order was "ready for pick-up today" at 6:08pm, and arrived at the store at 6:30pm, as they close at 7pm, and I had called earlier to verify the hours. So, this woman answers the phone and starts with that "can't" attitude, causing me to feel distressed and worried that I may have driven all the way from SW Hesperia for nothing. First, she tells me that their curbside pick-up ends at 6pm, as if I had arrived too late to pick up my order. The email specifically states that curbside pick-up is available until 7pm. I uploaded the email. Next, she goes on to tell me that she doesn't have anyone to retrieve my order for me, but she'll try to get it out there in 10 minutes. So, I just let her know that I'll go inside to pick up, they don't have to bring it out to me. So, I go inside the store to get my order and a nice young man is grabbing both my orders and handing them to me promptly, so...what happened to that, "I don't have anyone to get your order for you" statement? It was never true. It was just some woman wanting to be in control with the "can't" mentality. People in the workplace with that can't mindset must be miserable to work for, because they are miserable for customers to deal with, that's for sure. So completely unnecessary. All people want is to pick up their stuff with no issues. Really. Is that asking too much? Don't be so unwilling right off the bat to help someone. We brought our Mini Australian in for a Grooming Included in the basic wash and dry, it's still supposed to include wash, dry, ear cleaning, sanitary trim, teeth cleaning, nail trim Well she only got a wash, dry and nail trim. They skipped everything else they didn't even bother brushing out mats behind her ear and it's not like she was totally matted out, she had very few mats After we got her home and took a close look I regretted taking her there and giving the girl a tip.. The only tip the groomer should have gotten is learn to do a better job or find a different job I had a bad feeling when we went to drop her off, because none of the groomers looked happy to be there nor were they very welcoming I would recommend to go to a real groomer who actually likes doing a professional job and takes pride in there work read more

I have been searching for specific cat food for awhile now. It seems like it is sold out and warehouse does not have any in stock per one of the workers I spoke to. Thought I got lucky when I found some in stock online and called to have them hold everything they had so I can get it after I am done with my errands. I went and it wasnt the item I was referring to but they still managed to hold it for me. I decided to just get it because its something my cat hasnt tried yet in hopes that she will like this one. Still prefer the other item that my cat cannot live without. Petsmart is the only place that sells it and I would love to buy it bulk if its in stock again so I dont have to deal with driving to locations to check whether they have it or not since they are NOT doing stock checks at this time. Everytime we're in Apple Valley my children insist we need to stop by this particular PetSmart. We love walking around and checking out their guinea pigs and hamsters & I have to remind myself that we do not need anymore pets as we exit the building. Luckily for me they tend to have female guinea pigs and since we own a male we do not need a female to avoid any future baby guineas. PetSmart always seems to have great deals on guinea pig food and treats, so I am always suckered into buying something for our spoiled guinea pig Reeses. The cashiers are always very personable and friendly. They never seem to rush you out of their line and are able to maintain a conversation as they are checking you out. read more

I took my dog in to schedule a grooming and to get his rabies shot. When I went in to schedule him a grooming the employee, Cassandra, who helped me was very sweet. I like that they require dogs to be up to date on their rabies vaccine. I thought my dog was up to date with his but she called the last pet doctors I went to to confirm and turns out my dog wasn't update so I needed to get that done. For the vet appointment it's strictly drop off right now. The vet and all the employees were very helpful. She examined him fully, which I appreciated, and turns out my dog has some dental issues. She prescribed antibiotics and went over everything I needed to know. Needless to say, I had a very pleasant experience at this Petsmart. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Groomers at AV Petsmart are the absolute worst. Gave several "medical" reasons as to why they couldn't groom my two Akitas. Scheduled two back to back appointments for the both of them with my female being first, brought her in and the groomers apprentice (not a groomer. A glorified bather) was on her hands and knees inspecting each of her nipples and told me because her nipples were dry if she began to bleed she would have to be sent home. Called her on her bullshit and said no. Her nipples aren't dry, she's dirty. Which is true because once she got a bath her nips were as pink and moisturized as ever. They agreed to take her back and bathe her (Simone put her in the system as express only so she got started immediately) before I even got to my car the same lady was calling me and telling me my dog had explosive diarrhea all over the grooming tub amd had to be sent home as this was a sign of extreme stress (my dogs been getting groomed regularly since she was 12 weeks old, she's 4 years old now. ) I picked my dog up and said fine, thinking she hadn't gotten started so I wouldn't have to pay. WRONG. My dog was WET and hadn't even been washed amd they still forced me to pay the full $75 for her groom. When I got my girl back home she had a solid bowel movement and only had solid bowel movements ever since. I took my male in an hour later for the same charade. They informed me of a "scab" that had formed ALONG HIS ENTIRE BACK?! My male was an older guy so he did have some impacted fur from where he was unable to fully shed, mixed in with dirt from him rolling in the dirt and mud outside. They still agreed to groom him. AGAIN before I even got to the front of the store they were calling me telling me he had to be sent home as well because the scabs on his back were bleeding. There were no scabs. I checked him myself. I took them both to Petsmart in Victorville and they agreed that apple valley staff was just LAZY. My male had NO scabs and was a breeze to groom. I spoke to the supposed manager before I left apple valley with my male and he was no help. He was more interested in talking over me and rolling his eyes than trying to hear me out or resolve the issue. I paid $75 for them to wet my female and to put a leash on my male. I will NEVER do business with apple valley pet smart again. read more

Petsmart Sold us 2 yellow canaries. We noticed they had plastic or metal bands on one foot. The associates said they come right off so we have to do it and they're not allowed to remove it themselves because their legs can be injured. Do you know how skinny canary legs are? Didn't they put it on there?! Why can't the people who put it on remove them? We tried to take it off and no way that thing is coming off without a professional sawing it off. Anyways after 2 months one canary gets its leg broken with heavy bleeding ! We take it to the avian vet and they said the leg is broken and the bird will not survive a surgery because it is so small. We had to kill the bird because there was nothing they can do. The vet said the band was tightening and tightening and more blood would be lost leading to a painful death.. 2 weeks later, the same thing happens to the other canary and breaks his leg and he was in a cage the entire time. Poor canaries were only with us 2 months and they just have to die. This preventable situation caused us emotional trauma. When you sell birds with bands maybe put a sign that says these bands have to be sawed off by a vet or may die before you sell them to innocent customers!!! Don't buy birds here what a ridiculous horrible experience!!! read more

The employees are friendly and attentive when you're browsing the dog treats and are looking a bit puzzled. Even the manager asks how your pet(s) are doing and wants to know if you need anything. I come here frequently for the Blue Buffalo Blue Bits and Wilderness trail treats because my dogs are hooked on them. They're like puppy crack. I use the Bits to train my pup and the crunchy treats for other occasions. I would also HIGHLY recommend the $25 Puppy Starter Kit because it comes with lots of puppy coupons that you definitely want to spoil your pup with. It pays for itself with the $15 voucher for premium puppy chow and the $10 voucher for a basic grooming service. Shoutout to Cameron the groomer for his EXCELLENT grooming job on my pup and his awesome customer service--give him a raise already!* While most of the employees are kind and make a point of friendly chit-chat, I experienced a sarcastic young woman while checking out and I didn't really appreciate that experience. I scheduled my appointment at 11am for our Dutch shepherd. We arrived early to make sure they would begin service. The employee that checked us in told us she would be ready in 2 hours. It was after 1 and we still hadn't heard from them. We went back and arrived at 130 and they hadn't even started on her. So for over 2 hours they had her waiting. They basically started service after 130 and gave her to us at 210. She was still wet. They could have given us a call to let us know if there was going to be a delay or something.
