I have brought my dog to be trained and groomed here since I've had him and I've always had good experiences. When my family got another dog we brought him here for training too, which is just the best way to set a foundation for success with dogs! Tyler is the best trainer and can always work with people to develop the skills they need to have their dogs be well behaved and happy. He is great at finding unique solutions to even the strangest of "problem behaviors." Whenever I know anyone who gets a new canine family member, I always recommend training with Tyler! Tabby is the groomer we see and she so nice! She always discusses what kind of services and haircut my dog will get to make sure it's the best options for him and she understands the look/function I am looking for. She is very patient with my dog and I know I can trust her to take good care of him when I drop him off for grooming! The store is also great, with so many options, and I like the Treats reward program because it does provide more cost savings than many other rewards programs. read more

My family and I have always came to petsmart for grooming and pet supplies. It's a great store. Everyone seems very nice and willing to help. Just recently we got a puppy, an Australian shepherd. We thought it was a good idea to put Mindy (the puppy) and us (myself and my 10 year old boy) through training. So we started the puppy training class with Tyler the end of January, and we are going to continue on with the trainings. Tyler was great. He is very caring, helpful, motivated, funny My son was the one that was actively taking part in the trainings (I sat next to him to watch & listen and be there if he needed help. Tyler explained things to my son to where he understood. He took the time to talk to him one on one about certain issues pertaining to mindy. The staff at PetSmart are always professional, charismatic, friendly and knowledgable. The trainer, Rusty, has a outgoing personality, and I would call her the "dog whisperer" of Augusta, Maine. The salon does a wonderful job grooming my Shih Tzu. However, her hair cut is not always consistent but overall I have been completely satisfied. PetSmart is a satellite location for Kennebec Valley Humane Society. I would highly recommend stopping in and seeing a kitten and/or cat! They are always super adorable! read more

I brought my dog for a wash and cut. Arrived early for an 11:30 appointment. It took 3 hours. I have a 10 pound dog. The shave was uneven, one ear was trimmed rounded while the other was trimmed to a point. She said she cut his toenails, but he was audibly clicking when he walked. It does not take 3 hours to wash and cut this dog. When I asked an employee why it took 3 hours, I was told that's how long it takes. Interestingly, he wasn't even put on the haircut table until hour 2 and a half. We will not be back. read more

A couple of years ago,I took my Minpin to Petsmart. He was just getting a shampoo and nail trim. $500 later in the emergency room visit, after getting a call from Pet Smart that his dewclaw had ripped out accidentally. It was horrible. Two years passed and while I didn't forget, I couldn't find another groomer and I had hoped that it was just an isolated incident. What a dumb dumb I called to have two poodles groomed once standard and one is a toy. They came from a rough background and I babied them a lot so I wanted to make sure that they wouldn't sit in the kennel while they were waiting to be groomed and I was assured they would not. Three hours later I went in to see what was going on with my dogs? I could hear my pool barking incessantly and my toy poodle was nowhere to be found. My dogs are family brought out for hours later and they're cut was incredibly poor. I asked for fluffy legs in the clean shaved the front and left the back lawn. I don't know where they learned how to cut dogs, but if you love your dog you won't take it here. Not just because of the bad haircut. But Because of what I consider to be abusive. When I picked him up I was told maybe he shouldn't have come at such a busy time. And also that they couldn't clean shave his face because he needed to work on being groomed. Before I picked him up from the shelter he was a show dog. He had been groomed his whole entire life. It's sad how people treat animals. Lesson learned, never again for me. read more

Recently I went to Petsmart And the whole store was open people were allowed to walk in and none of the employees or customers were wearing masks or social distancing and they had no signs telling people to do anything like that seriously like what the hell!!! read more

I'm usually a fan of PetSmart but the Augusta, Maine location has let me down on consistent occasions. The first time around I had ordered something online for pickup. It said only a few were left in stock and it was sold out at all the other locations nearby. I ordered it right after they had opened and the email said that it would be generally available within an hour for pickup. The website even states "Items that are in stock can usually be picked up the same or next day if your order was placed near store closing or when the store is closed. Once your order is ready, we will send you a 'Ready for Pick Up' email, usually within 1 hour." The evening time had rolled around and I was heading into Augusta to do errands and pick up the item which was supposed to be ready by now. When I had gotten to the store there was thankfully quite a few bags of what I had ordered left. I asked the cashier if my order was ready which it wasn't. With my order not being ready I asked if I could just take a bag off the shelf and finish up the order process. She seemed baffled​ by this suggestion and gave attitude but eventually,​ I walked out with what I needed. Not the experiences I'm used to from a PetSmart! read more

I hope that the corporate offices at Petco see this message because I am just shocked and amazed that "because of Covid" they will not take any in-store purchase returns! This has been for at least a month. When I called the corporate number to see if they could do an online return they wanted to know which Petco location and the name of the employee (who I would not tell her) that directed me to contact the home office about this. I have just lost money that I would not have spent originally if I had know that returns are not allowed. I will NOT shop at Petco any longer - I do A LoT of shopping and have not heard of ANY other store restricting returns. It is mind-boggling and I am terribly disappointed. Ridiculous! read more

This store would not let me return or give me store credit for a horribly defective product. An employee made excuses, saying they "we're not doing that right now." Now I'm left with a large, unusable product, which they said I will be able to get credit for in a few months? Why not now? They need not touch it if they are terrified of germs. Plague or no plague, a defective product should be given credit for. read more

This is specifically for the grooming department. Lack of experience, professionalism, and way overpriced.

Went in and asked several different associates what were the right watts for my tortoise's lights. I also told them how far from the tank they sat. After two of them insuring me they were the right ones, I bought them. A few days later I noticed I hadn't been seeing my tortoise much(he had a hut). I picked it up and sure enough he was in there. A few days later he was laying lifeless in his tank, with a full food dish, and a full water dish. Come to find out they told me the wrong watts and it ended up frying my tortoise. Very upset that I had a pet that was suppose to live 50+ years and died after two due to the lack of knowledge this store had for an animal they sold. Needless to say I will never be going back there! read more

If you live your animals DO NOT take them to this Petsmart for grooming! My little Pomeranian came home with scratches, deep red marks, and virtually no fur. It was cut in patches. He's bald in some areas and has little fur in other areas. Cassie was the groomer. She whipped him around while he was tethered by his neck. He was gagging. She squeezed his legs and paws while she cut his fur and trimmed his nails. He was very uncomfortable and was whining in pain. When we came home my dog was whining and licking his wounds. I called the vet and he was prescribed pain medication and I treated his wounds. This is ABUSE!! Cassie should not be allowed anywhere near animals. I spoke with the manager Cody, and he was very supportive of Cassie. In fact he said that Cassie was his best stylist and everyone loves her. That's alarming!! she lied to him saying that I wasn't even the one who picked up my dog and also that he had bitten her. She told him that my daughter picked him up. I dont know how she knew that I had a daughter, but both my daughters live out of state, 1300 and 500 miles away!! I watched through a glass window while Cassie clipped my dog and he never even tried to bite! He's 10 1/2 years old and has no teeth!!! Please don't make the same mistake. Take your pet to a reputable groomer after you check many references. This PetSmart is not a safe place. Apparently, others are unaware of how their animals are being treated while being groomed. This should not be allowed!! Protect your furry family members! read more

great selection of items in this store. love shopping here as their tanks are not overly stocked (compared to other stores i have been to) and their fish are happy. they have a great selection of cat toys, and products. i love shopping here. very friendly and will be happy to answer any and all of your questions. i have yet to have a bad experience in this store. only wish they had more variety of a selection on fish decorations. wasn't much to go on for a dinosaur theme. read more
